Lonewolf Diaries: “Violence Doesn’t Solve Problems…”
by Steven Crowder… Bull Crap. Listen, violence freed the slaves, took down the axis of evil and still manages to fix every remote control that I’ve ever owned. More recently, the use of force quickly brought an end to the escapades of a few Somali jackasses. Three shots fired, three men dead… And there was much rejoicing. To those of you still teaching the “violence doesn’t solve problems” myth to your kids… What are you thinking? Does anyone out there truly believe this insane rhetoric?
I find it funny that Hollywood leftists are the ones who’ve been pushing this ideal down our throats with one hand, while simultaneously producing the most brutally vile, “creative content” with the other. Libs love to paint Middle American conservatives as “Gun toting Neo-Cons with a thirst for violence,” yet more often than not, it’s those people who boycott their gratuitous, self-indulgent, crap-fests that they call films. Does anyone here honestly think that “Seung-Hi Choi” went on his Virginia-Tech shooting spree after getting fired up at an NRA rally? His pre-massacre phone-pictures showed him mimicking poses that he’d seen in “Tomb Raider” for crying out loud. Only in the United States could an entity such as Hollywood coin the term “Torture-Porn” for their content one moment, only to condemn a righteous war the next.
The truth is that Hollywood only has a problem with violence when it’s carried out with a distinct sense of right and wrong. Awesome 80’s cartoons like “G.I Joe” cease to exist because they were too “black and white.” Teaching children that the men of our military are “American Heroes” is part of an archaic ideal and apparently dangerous.
As soon as the little tykes hit their mid-teens however, they can look forward to a myriad of films combining the adrenaline rush of murder, with a simultaneous endorphin-release from sexual arousal. It’s totally cool though because we don’t know who the bad guy really is. It’s not a shoot-em-up… It’s a study of humanity, don’t ya know.
Folks, let me just re-iterate something that everyone already knows; When it comes to tyrants, violence is the only answer. Period. We should use this most recent example as a tool to teach our children the Dirty Harry philosophy in that there’s “Nothing wrong with a little shooting… As long as the right people get shot.”
The world is full of bullies, and rather than do our children a disservice by dancing around the truth, we should teach them how to beat these jerks to the punch (literally). When my kid comes home with his first bully problem, I won’t be leaving him ill-prepared for the world by giving him the old sissified, “Well, you need to use your words” speech. I’ll lay it down for him bluntly (as my dad did for me and as all parents should):
“Listen, son. You can go tell your teachers, but they won’t do very much and the kid’s probably just going to bully you even more. The same goes for the school Principal and the PTA. What you need to do, is walk right up to that punk, and punch him in the nose as hard as you possibly can. Now come, let me teach you a couple of take-downs.”
Preaching the wonders of properly-employed use of force to our kids is not only honest… It’s our duty in preparing them for the real world. If you think I’m wrong… Well, you’re probably a pansy, so what do I care?

So you're saying that you don't think a "time out" would have stopped Hitler?
Once again Mr Crowder has tossed a live grenade into the arena of philosophical conjecture… and goodness, it's hard to dispute the facts. No one likes violence; most particularly those that have to participate in it. The Left has perpetuated a canard that military types are 'kill crazy' (see any 70's era 'Barnaby Jones' type drama) and Janet Napolitano is warning everyone about those returning form duty in the Sandbox- they are 'ripe' for 'far right'
'terrorist' recruitment.
What poppycock. This is not a conscript army rife with drug and race problems. These soldiers and marines are
serious professionals. And they have seen Violence. And they don't like it much. We have nothing to fear from these people, or NRA supporters, or the like. It's the dissent that they cannot abide by, and they are afraid if they try to stifle it then there could be trouble. And they could be correct…
Hitler! No unfortunately not that easy ….
Mind you Mussolini it might've worked
Dad was into escalation.
I'd come home a bit worse for wear after a scuffle.
Dad would say, "Why didn't you hit him with a two-by-four?"
Wise man, my Dad.
I've tried to live up to expectations since then.
Hitler would have loved Grand Theft Auto. I'm sure of it.
I'm glad you spelled "poppycock" correctly, or Barney Frank might start trolling here.
I was thinking the other day about the SEAL snipers who saved that Captain. I hope everyone knows how hard it is to hit a head sized target at 100 yards on level ground…..LET ALONE ON THE BACK OF A SHIP AT SEA !!!!!!!!
Our Military (Every single one of them) is the best trained and most professional in the world !!!!
The biggest thing that kept coming into my mind was one word, "VOLUNTEER" !!!!!!
A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life wrote a blank check
made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of
'up to and including his/her life.' That is Honor, and there are way too
many people in this Country who no longer understand it.'
God Bless America and the Men and Women who CHOOSE to serve her !!!!!!
God bless you Steven, my dad gave me the same advice as a kid. You know what? It works.
Steven — Great post! Short and sweet — and funny! I love your vids, but you got chops w/ the written word too! Kudo's. And my Dad taught me the same lessons about bullies. And he, being a former collegiate boxing champ, also taught me at age six how to whoop some ass. I got in one fist fight with a persistent bully in the second grade, popped him once in the nose with a short right cross — and was not bothered again until i was out of high school. The knowledge that you can handle yourself in a fight, and will if you have to, radiates as confidence, and bad guys leave you alone. A message there for our State Department, as exemplified by our brave SEALS. Hoo-ah!
Ok, I've got a Mussolini joke for you. . . stop me if you've heard this before. . .
Mussolini is standing on a hill with one of his generals. The general yells to his adjunct, "go get my red shirt." Mussolini asks the general why he wants a red shirt. The general replies, "if I am shot, I don't want my men to see me bleed." Mussolini is impressed. He nods his head and then turns to his adjunct and yells, "go get my brown pants."
You just had to follow up your Mussolini-poopie-joke with this one. ((shudder))
dcase: i have been in combat and you obviously have not. The army i was in was rife with black-white and white-black racism. i would agree that the professional army is much better but it would not take more than 2 out of a thousand to wreak havoc as did Timothy M. The "report" you quote DOES NOT come from janet N. or the government, but another organization that only suggests the possibility and calls for no action. The Obama admin. refuses to even comment on it nor has Napalitano. Drudge headlined the article "SHE IS WATCHING YOU!" despite the fact she has nothing to do with it and has suggested nothing. Sorry, but the right-wing of this country is a bunch of crackpots HOPING that somebody will mess with them. Also, I work in a school and 7 out of 10 times the kid who claims to be "bullied" is a paranoid who is perceived by his classmates as a bully. Paranoids always can find enemies, and though you do not sound like one of those, you are cutting them far to much slack and giving them far to much credence. If Mr. Crowder;s kid came into my school and walked up to someone and popped them i the nose i would kind of like some proof that the kid had been threatened besides his own opinion, and so would the other kids parents as well as the local police.
Interesting that you mention "G.I. Joe" because some of the most popular TV shows that were derided in the 1980s for being too violent such as "G.I. Joe" and "The A-Team" were completely devoid of any death scenes. Apparently a nebbish busy-body would watch these shows and count the number of violent acts–violent acts such as Dirk Benedict chomping too hard on his cigar or Destro getting in Cobra Commander's face during a heated argument about which non-existent country to invade.
Fast forward to 2009: "Torture porn" is an acceptable genre… Freaky-deaky, baby!
Steven Crowder is right again! I plan on teaching my grandson how to deal with bullies as soon as I can. He's only three months old now, but hey, it's never too early to teach good habits! I also plan on teaching him the virtues of standing up for the defensless among us. When it comes to Hollywood dreck, I always say to vote with your wallet!
I agree with this article, with the exception of the bashing of violence in movies. There has never been any study that has shown a cause-and-effect relationship between violence in movies to violence in real life. As someone who enjoys "torture porn" (a stupid term) films on occasion, I take slight offense to that, especially because I'm less violent than most people. However, I agree that often violence is justified. Those three pirates should have been shot right away (not once the Captains life was in danger) and the best way to deal with a schoolyard bully is to fight back.
undoubtedly he and Ms Napolitano already are… checking for subversive activity like exercising your 1st amendment rights…
My dad told my little brothers the same thing. Given, with our Spartan/Greek blood, they are a good head taller and a good bit stronger than their peers….lol
I was bullied in junior high by boys and girls–mostly by one boy. My parents taught me not to start a fight–finish it instead, and if someone hit me, I was supposed to hit back. I didn't because I was a good student who got good grades, and was more afraid of getting in trouble with the principal. So, I told on the perps, they went to the counselor AND principal's office for a scolding. Guess what? The problem only got worse. In retrospect, I should have just ignored school rules, and flattened all who offended me. We moved after I finished eighth grade, so I didn't have to deal with them in high school. One thing for sure, they wouldn't dare mess with me now. I know of two others who are very close to me personally, and they were bullied as well. Again, the same thing applies to them as it does with me. Don't screw with us, you may get more than you bargained for.
don't be too sure of that. Why you would come to that conclusion leads us to believe you most likely didn't; however, in the anonymous world of the Net anyone can claim that which is not. No one who has seen combat would assert such nonsense; it's a tired leftist trick to silence debate.
Be glad to really compare notes with you…
One more thought. The last three mass killings in this country were done by people who FELT they were being bullied by people that it turned out did not even know them. You people are naive to believe that everybody who perceives a threat or a "bully" is absolutely realistic in their assessment. The world is FULL of people who are PRAYING that someone will mess with them. I would also wager that Mr. Crowder has never experienced real violence or a shot fired in anger. People who have, and I have, do not talk as boldly or surely about reality. It is kind of lie the people who have never had children being absolutely CERTAIN how to raise a perfect child.
"Sorry, but the right-wing of this country is a bunch of crackpots HOPING that somebody will mess with them."
Sorry, I stopped taking you seriously as soon as I saw this.
Remember:
Shooting someone who tries to rob you is "black-and-white absolutist thinking."
Handing over your stuff instead is "advanced, 21st century thinking."
They tell us that "the world is not in black and white" when they make excuses for Iran, North Korea, and the Somali pirates. To tell you the truth, they simply look at the person who has less and declare him moral, because his lesser status is, by itself, absolute proof of victimization by those who have more.
And when those people use violence, its not only good and heroic, its targets deserve it!
I know this has been discussed before, but can anyone think of any way to have that jackass Geraldo removed from Fox so Mr. Crowder can have his time slot? Seriously! Why doesn't he have a show on Fox yet? Think of the possiblities. Stephen interviewing Bob Beckell or some other left wing dope would be brutally funny!
I sure as heck my kids don't end up with a guy like you as a teacher. Though your claim to "work in a school" could mean just about anything–leaving me to seriously doubt that you know much about what constitutes paranoid behavior among students. You sound like a closed-minded nightmare to deal with. I must also, as a former teacher, point out that your grammar is abysmal.
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
as a kid growing up in west texas you discover that when bullied you better square up. if not, you'll get your ass handed to you every day until graduation. it's a life's lesson many kiddos learn early on that can be applied to "real" life. i have never witnessed a bully who softens his nastiness based on his victim's willingness to allow the abuse. that's just more reason to attack. the easier the target, the better.
So we shouldn't have any military because two out of a thousand might "wreak havoc as did Timothy M" (unlike the civilian followers of Osama bin Laden). Got it. I didn't know the figure for bullies claiming to be bullied was seven out of ten. Amazing. Apparently you work in a very interesting school. But you certainly have the solution for any kid who might attempt to stave off one of those non-bully bullies. It's like Obama's foreign policy. When someone like Osama bin Laden threatens your existence, call the local police, and a lawyer. And the school psychologist to counsel the kid who thinks that he should use violence to protect himself. And the lion shall lie down with the lamb. Just before the lion eats the poor dumb sheep.
I stopped taking him seriously at the first uncapitalized "i". People who don't capitalize the word "I" either are too lazy to hit a shift key or have some serious self-esteem issues. Either way, I can't take them seriously!
Do you think that the Chimp-in-Chief is more like Mussolini, or more like Hitler?
}:-]
The REPORT you people have your panties in a knot about was started by HOMELAND SECURITY in 2008 long before Obama even became president. I hope you get a chance to express your outrage at the report which the President has not even commented on. By the way, despite Michelle Malkin's comments, I can find NO mention of the American Legion ANYWHERE in this report. One more thing, the kid I most remember in my career as telling me how he HANDLED THE BULLIES in our high school is now, 15 years later, in jail for assault and rape. I am CERTAIN it is not his fault.
"My mother said violence never solves anything."
"So?" Mr. Dubois looked at her bleakly. "I'm sure the city fathers of Carthage would be glad to know that."
R. A. Heinlein, Starship Troopers, ch. 2 (1959)
I agree. I know I must have been an easy target in junior high. I did have an encounter with a boy in high school who was spouting off at me, and for what reason, I never knew. He called me a name I didn't appreciate, so I stood up and said "What did you call me?" He told me "Nothin', just sit back down." Five minutes later, he was at it again (I was in the library at the time). This time when I stood up, I had my fist cocked, and he backed out into the hallway. I never touched him, and that was the end of that, because, he never bothered again.
You have GOT TO BE KIDDING….sigh.
Ron, I would wager the only "combat" you've been in involved with was a skirmish with the little green dudes vs. the little tan dudes (and maybe some Transformers for artillery support). Anonymity on the web is a wonderful thing, ain't it? One can support a hair-brained statement with any resume' he/she chooses.
Oh, yeah. I almost forgot. "The Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis". That would be the organization that Janet "has nothing to do with":
''Homeland Security spokeswoman Sara Kuban said the report is one in an ongoing series of assessments by the department to "facilitate a greater understanding of the phenomenon of violent radicalization in the U.S." (Washington Times)''
A little research works wonders, huh sparky?
One more thing. You MAY actually work in a school. Nothing wrong with a janitorial or food services career. But if you are a teacher and your grammar is THAT atrocious, then there is absolutely no wonder our education system sucks donkey butt.
It's more likely that your education consists of distance courses from "Internet Troll Tech".
I'm just saying.
You have to know the proper hierarchy for our friends on the other side of the political spectrum in order to understand the wisdom of their comments. The politics of America is divided into two parts.
The left is subdivided into communists, leftists, leftist-radicals, progressives, ultra-liberals, liberals, ivory tower intellectuals, college students, and lovers of all-that-is-good. They are very nuanced.
Everyone else is a right-wing crackpot.
Try "Chump-in-Chief" And if you're a troll trying to get a rise, nobody's takin' the bait.
That reminds me… I vaguely recall hearing that someone once dubbed Police Squad! (the TV precursor to The Naked Gun) "the most violent show on TV" because of a scene in the first episode where Frank Drebin is testing a theory by shooting people at different distances… and the camera pans over to a giant mountain of people. Just a joke, but some people don't have a sense of humor.
As for "torture porn", I'm no prude but I would rather watch eight hours of The Hills (or something along those lines) than sit through one of these movies!
I was going to say, "yeah, you're right, that's probably in bad taste." But then I realized, that would only make things worse.
Reading the article reminded me of a SpongeBob episode. Anyone remember that one? Where he tells the teacher about the bully and it just makes things worse? Darn that was funny.
You mean, of course, Grand Theft Autobahn.
I was bullied in fourth, fifth, and seventh grades (sixth was lucky, I guess). I was the good student who got good grades, too. I remember my folks telling me the same thing. There are times now when, in retrospect, I wish I had ignored the rules and tried my best. If I beat them, then great, and maybe some of the neutral classmates would have stuck up for me in the future. If I was pummeled to a pulp, at least I would've come away having tried.
In the dorm at FSU, I wasn't quite bullied but the neighbors made it Hell on Earth for me. I didn't want to risk expulsion so I went to the top guy in the dorm – he let me move to another room with better neighbors and a better roommate. Recently I found one of the guys on Facebook and as much as I'm tempted, I won't be sending him a message.
I totally support the use of violence for a good cause. Like you said, kicking the crap out of the dirty south was a good use of violence. WW2 was a good use of violence. Iraq was not a good use of violence from both a logistic and moral point of view.
"Ach du lieber Ahhhdolf,… invading Polandt, youvf been a naughty little fuhrer! Go und zit in der korner mit Heinrech oontil you learn to play nize mit der udder kinder."
"Jawohl, Frau Gotterdamerung. But vood it be okay if me und der Wehrmact und Luftwaffe yoost invaded France?"
"Ja meine schottzee, dat vood be wunderbar."
"Rightwing Extremism: Current
Economic and Political Climate Fueling
Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment

Division. Coordinated with the FBI."
Just thought you would like to see the opening title and publication date from the ACTUAL DOCUMENT.
I don't know where you heard that it was started in August of '08, but if you did, and it was from a source in the current DHS, then I can only point to the voluminous examples of truthfulness and forthrightness that has come from Barry and Co. so far. Ahem! (COUGH!!) Sorry….got something caught in my throat.
I would hope that you have actually READ the damn thing before you take up your rhetorical sword to defend it like Our Beloved Leader expects. If you haven't, then let me just assure you that with the total lack of specific details (barring, of course, the good ole "Timothy M" gem you pointed out in an other post) that it would not have taken 8 hours, much less 8 MONTHS, to write this CRAP.
It's a piece of politically motivated feces being pushed by a government agency aimed at demeaning and marginalizing anyone who would dare to question the ONE.
And I am CERTAIN that it is THEIR (The Obamazombies) fault and I am DEFINITELY CERTAIN that this is scary as hell to see in my country.
"I didn't know the figure for bullies claiming to be bullied was seven out of ten."
Louis Farrakhan's Million Man Math.
My Dad was very similar in his advice. "If you start losing, pick up the first thing you can grab and hit him with it."
I respectfully disagree.
Most leftists don't think of themselves as leftists. They think of themselves as moderates or centrists. I think this derives from the fact that they also assume that everyone really thinks like they do, and that those who claim not to think like they do are either liars or on the wacko fringe.
I believe there is still the question of pie?
I can't remember a single instance when somebody gave the bully their lunch money, the bully never bothered them again. The underlying emotion of the "tolerant liberal" is fear. They hope that through appeasement they will be "left alone". It's kind of like "hoping" for change.
Ron Or: I have been to the moon and you obviously have not. Even from up there, it's obvious you're full of crap.
I serve humble pie on a daily basis. Bring your appetite.
Is it true what they say about the cheese?
You've had three or four days to think of something and that's all you got? Give me a break.
Worst. . . troll . . . ever.
And you still haven't answered the question Auntie. Do you know how to MAKE pie.
Absolutely NONE of the things you people fret about on this site will EVER come to pass, nor is there anyone even proposing a program to MAKE IT COME TO PASS! I am also certain that a president who is accused on one hand of being in thrall to the rich bankers is on the other hand a communist. Make up your mind. It is amazing that you people who are now so concerned about rights and the constitution did not seem to mind at all that the last admin. used it for toilet paper. Thank god you represent less than 30% of the populace and are declining in numbers everyday. dcase, I will send you my DD 214 if you want as i was in Vietnam from 70 to 71. As for my writing skills: google my articles on the internet and in newspapers, not this right wing rant and rave sheets you bury yourself in. I was nice to you in my original note, but it is obvious you are only in for attacks, which accomplishes little but does let you vent. Also, i will wager that I have put the end to more bullying than you have ever heard of because what i do works, and what you would do would get you rightly sued.
Aw, respectfully my patoot, counselor. You're overruled. Remember who's wearing the black dress here.
Ron Whatever: Could you please decide on how you're going to spell your troll name?
Amazingly, yes. The scientists were right. Completely cheese.
In most other states, they call them "robes." But then you do live in San Francisco, and as they say, "when in San Francisco do as the San Franciscans."
(Try using that in a tourism ad and see if anybody comes to your town!)
Sweet! I am so building a rocketship!
A seven is a four with two lines missing. A four is a chair, upside down. Turn it rightside up and put a violinist on it, and he will produce a tone. Atone is what we all have to do for, well, I don't remember how this works. Million Man Math is too advanced for me. I struggled with trigonometry and calculus.
Go to the YAHOO news homepage detailing the 10-year ann. of the Columbine killings. Originally we were told how "bullied" the kids were. I was flamed on lines such as this for suggesting the same scenarios I am again being flamed for . Seems the kids at Colum. WERE the bullies. Read the article. It is from USA today paper of Tuesday. "10 years later..real story emerges from Columbine".
I live in Tripoli, Iowa. I was in Phu Bai fro 70 to 71 and do not appreciate your allegations. Stop bye.
You should have stopped after your first sentence. Everything you said after that was totally made up out of your own head. I'll wager that you've never done any of the things you say Crowder has never done. Steve is more correct in his assertations than you are close to being! Thank goodness the world is not FULL of people like you.
You must have been shot in the head.
As for my writing skills: google my articles on the internet and in newspapers, not this right wing rant and rave sheets you bury yourself in.
Ah, Huff Po. Huff Po?! Come on. Replace "right" above with "left."
The report was prepared in 2008 and released on April 7. It proposes no policy changes of any kind and relates to the situation in the 1990's were a small number of vets did join such groups, including Tim M. It is most like a bureaucrat covering his butt in case something should happen and we do our normal search for some sap to blame.
Google" postville Tip of the Iceberg" by Ron Orf. or "do not pass go do not collect $600". It is not ALL left wing.
Nicely said patti. Sadly, even girls have to learn what Mr Dumbeld-ORF never did. As a smaller male in a racially charged environment I learned the same thing early on. Better to square up and get get hit than to cower for a life of torment. Better to square up and get beat down – because next time they go for someone like a Dumbeld-ORF. It's a simple, simple reality that most of us figure out early on.
The corrolary is that once you provide even token resistance, they move on to an easier target. But you only know that if you stand up and deliver.
Simple story. School yard jackaz, Somalia, Iran, or Mussolini – all the same.
I may be lazy but I am very smart. People who capitalize everything are simply shouting.
Made up? The Riverside killing is made up. The killing of the cops in Pittsburgh was made up. The killing at the commune was made up? What the H are you talking about? Do you read ANYTHING but right-wing blogs?
The first sign that someone is not smart, is that they tell you that they are smart. Adding "very" just removes all doubt.
"started by HOMELAND SECURITY in 2008 long before Obama even became president "
Um no.
I just now carefully read the entire 9 pages word for word and the timeline for –this report– regarding "Rightwing Extremists" is this year and is dated as 7 April 2009. In the document itself there is no indication this was started before the election of 2008. In fact, it appears it was started after Obama was elected as the term "African-American president" is used four times in the first four pages. For example, the first usage is "The economic downturn and the election of the first African American president present unique drivers for rightwing radicalization and recruitment. " the other three are similar.
There are many references to the 1990s and there are four mentions of 2008: "From the 2008 election timeframe to the present,…"; "…in 2008 in several states proposing mandatory tagging and registration of ammunition. "; "…2008 Supreme Court’s decision in District of Columbia v. Heller…" and "…FBI noted in a 2008 report on the white supremacist movement …"
You are, however, correct that nowhere in the report are the words "American Legion".
But, once again, you are mistaken when you imply Michelle Malkin comments the American Legion is listed as she does not. She does conclude that the unspecified "prominent civil rights organization” is "the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center". It is the latter group (SPLC) that designated the American Legion as a “hate group”, not MS. Malkin.
In my opinion the report is very vague as it does not name any specific group but the term "rightwing extremist(s)" is used 34 times.
I also think it is unfair and too broad. It uses Timothy McVeigh as a representative of returning military. They may as well say Bin Laden represents all muslims. Part of its definition "…may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration."
If you cannot see the hypocrisy of people sporting pro-life and "Jesus Saves" stickers on their trucks while chortling happily about sending families back to places where they have no medical care and not enough to eat you have no sense of irony, but that is not the issue.
Who chortles, Ron? Do people sporting pro-choice and "End This War" stickers chortle as another fetus is killed while advocating for the civil rights of child molestors or prisoners at Gitmo?
Your article about the meat plant is thoughtful, but you do exactly the kind of sandbagging that you are perceiving here on this right wing rant. Googling your posts on Breitbart, where you call everybody "a bunch of idiots" shows you too are in for attacks, which accomplishes little but does let you vent.
Did they do a similar study about those individuals who went in for Winter Soldier then or now?
The answer lies in the Mother Ship parked opposite the Moon. Maybe Auntie Fascist will make us a pie to take on the trip. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-62742131...
You clearly don't suffer from my sky-high cholesterol count.
Color me suitably envious (I just LOVES cheese, but my nurse/nutritionist wife
is saving me from my self-destructive craven desire for all things dairy…).
How true that is! My family is composed mainly of the "ivory tower intellectual" strain (although they've intermarried with the "progressives" and "ultra liberals" strains, so their spawn may well turn out to be a new kind of Uber-Liberal.
And yes, they all regard me as a "right wing crackpot" which I, in turn, regard as a badge of honor.
I don't care if you were stationed on Neptune from '68 to '70. The Moron-in-Chief has been taking campaign $$$ from bankers since before he got elected, and is bloating the U.S. federal government worse than a dead water buffalo in the Vietnam sun. He's an equal opprotunity pimp. The U.S. Constitution as t.paper by the last admin is ridiculous on several levels. Name one real example. Just one, you can't. That's MSNBC spin. Your apparent hero Obama first proposed making our military personell PAY FOR MEDICAL CARE for injuries sustained in COMBAT! What a stupid insult! Look it up. Next, ex-military should be monitored as potential criminals, right wing fanactics? Crazy, crazy liberal Dems.
Don't defame a great British band and the late great Steve Marriot, please!
You beat me to it, thank you. It's amazing what one can learn by reading the damn document. This idiot Obama is preparing reports on Americans while the world is going crazy, focus Barry, focus.
Thanks. I needed that laugh. A trip to the moon on gossamer wings, and pie too. What could be better?
Classic. I remember at the "Million" Man March, he started wandering off down the numerology path as well. Right in the middle of his speech, he started ranting about the height of the Lincoln monument and the distance between various buildings, and he kept saying, "and you know what that means."
We've all got to die from something. Why not moon cheese?
Point out to them that if they continue to inbreed they will ultimately produce idiot children, aka right wing crackpots. So they might as well marry outside the faith and meet some intelligent right wing crackpots who don't drool like their inevitable crop of homegrown right wing crackpots.
I repeated your wise words to my wife, but then she immediately started chasing me all over the house wielding a rolling pin (she's Dutch and, as everyone knows, they are totally lacking in humor).
Please advise as to where I can secure a temporary (?) restraining order…
Apparently he's a former school counselor and present school board member in Tripoli. Not, not that one. The one in Iowa. He must be a man of some influence, because an article he posted on the HuffPo in July of last year is clearly the model for future commentary from Chris "thrill up my leg" Matthews.

Is it just me, or do you all think of "Hogan's Heroes" when you read this?
Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww….
Yuck.
Does she have a permit for the rolling pin?
What he said.
Violence, eh? Never solves anything?… I was teased frequently enough by bullies my in High School, I mostly suffered their indignities, but in two of the most extreme insults upon myself, I demonstrated both my Will and my Strength, by grasping their throat, and looking them in the eye with a look of a defiance to show that if truly wished, I could end them. Once I saw that comprehension, I let go, never actually causing them harm. And from either point, both left me alone, just as I wanted.
Please criticize me — point out those things that you think are wrong about me. But, to those things you inexplicably tread upon me — I will tread upon you.
Excellent idea, but they are all under strict instructions from Obama's cadres of ThoughtPolice not to speak or listen to me again under any circumstances after their last failed "intervention" (wherein my head rotated 360 degrees while I projectile vomited green goo a la Linda Blair in "The Exorcist" as they read and re-read Obamessiah's speeches to me in their vain attempt to banish my "right-wing Devil".
I had to once. I was stationed at Letterman.
What a pretty place: ruined by its occupants.
This guy is on a school board? You're kidding. He knows naught of spelling or grammar or logic. He sounds paranoid, angry and irrational. And worst of all, this paragon of education chooses to spend his time trolling on an internet board. Pathetic.
I guess my friend from Des Moines was right when he said that IOWA stand for "Idiots Out Wandering Around."
Visions of "Wallace and Gromit" and "A Grand Day Out"!
Watch out for the penguins….
Tell him you're stalking him. Paranoia is good for the soul of offenders.
Kind of like Paris. . . or our Congress.
This only proves my theory that if those douchebags Verhoeven and Neumeier hadn't farked with the source material, every male under the age of 30 would be quoting lines from that movie to this day.
At least the CG animated "Roughnecks" version developed by Jeff Kline at Sony was halfway faithful to Heinlein's original vibe.
When I asked her that (seemingly perfectly reasonable!) question it infuriated her so that she threw it forcefully at my head.
Fortunately she missed, otherwise I would be suing you for all medical expenses incurred from following your (implied) advice.
I have a sneaking suspicion that you egged me on as retribution for my innocent lawyer joke of the other day!
For this lame post, the antifascist (-85p and dropping) is hereby sentenced to thirty days in the hole.
Stole my thunder. Nice touch!
Same also applies to a bunch of cocky Persians and three hundred Spartans.
Other examples abound.
Ah. So they tried the Obommmmah, Obommmmah thing on you too? I found it very relaxing, like the sound of a flushing toilet. But it still didn't change my mind. Not to worry. When their kids (if they ever have any) are born with two heads and no genitals, they'll have no choice for the future.
I don't know if you've read the article yet, but when he's posting there he must have spell check, grammar check, three editors and a week to produce each article. It's night and day. Read it, but be sure to have a toothbrush handy. The sweetness of his dreamy encounter with Brick Obama will rot your teeth very quickly.
Well, their first child was born last week- but the thing had NO head and TWO genitals, which is actually quite in character for a new race of Uber-Liberals…
That's where I got the chair and atonement schtick. I think the violin bit was in there too, but I'm not sure. Calypso Louie was in fine form that day.
"Only in the United States could an entity such as Hollywood coin the term “Torture-Porn” for their content one moment, only to condemn a righteous war the next."
Excellent. I'm gonna use that one.
We read USA Today:
TEN YEARS LATER-THE REAL STORY OF COLUMBINE
By Greg Toppo • USA TODAY • April 14, 2009
"They weren't goths or loners.
The two teenagers who killed 13 people and themselves at suburban Denver's Columbine High School 10 years ago next week weren't in the 'Trenchcoat Mafia,' disaffected videogamers who wore cowboy dusters. The killings ignited a national debate over bullying, but the record now shows Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold hadn't been bullied — in fact, they had bragged in diaries about picking on freshmen and "f*gs.'"
"Listen, violence freed the slaves, took down the axis of evil, and still manages to fix every remote control that I’ve ever owned"
Well, you're 100% right on slavery but by looking at the current standings it looks like violence only took down 33% of the axis of evil: Iraq. Maybe we'll get around to Iran and North Korea but I'm not counting on it any time soon.
As for the remote, get a Logitech Harmony and I promise your days of violence against cheap plastic infrared beam devices will be behind you.
Clearly you should have married a Danish woman. The Danes are much more attuned to humor.
Do we know if the guy posting here is in fact the same person? I only ask because if *this* guy was a school counselor…..I weep at the thought.
Shot fired in anger? You mean you had the bartender light it for you and then pissed him off by not hitting the tip jar? You've never been in military combat.
I saw the DVD of "Robot Jox" at a store over the weekend and was reminded of how Anne-Marie Johnson always had a certain kind of hotness… definitely the kind of woman tha–
Wait, wha–? Oh, yeah uh– and your performance was good in that movie too. Sorry, I was just distracted there for a minute.
There's an upside to everything. You can tell the new generation to screw themselves, and they will.
I bow down to your superior retort– but in an "I'm not worthy kind of way," not in an Obama-bows-to-the-Saudi-King kind of way. That would just be embarrassing.
You obviously have great parents. That's what I think every time I see someone of my generation or younger with common sense, courage, and aplomb. You're fantastic Steven. Just keep talking.
And yes, I agree. I was taught to never start a fight, never bring a fight. But when confronted by an attacker ( I went to a rough school. Boys didn't follow the whole "don't hit a girl" adage ), my parents taught me enough self-respect to fight back. I only became a victim if I allowed it.
Amen, Steven! The path of violence has led us to be who we are as a nation, provided us with all the freedoms we enjoy, and the prosperity our nation knew. Without the violence of the past, we'd still be bowing to the queen (and to the king of Saudi Arabia, apparently). My daddy taught me how to fight for good reasons, and boy, did I need it in high school. I'm proud of our military and its abilities. I don't want our country to be a sissy that rolls over and lets other nations walk all over us like France has. Nobody wants to be France. I don't think France wants to be France anymore with a reputation like they have. My daddy always told me I was not allowed to start the fight, but I'd better be the one to finish it.
I love your anti-pansy ethics, so rare in a young man these days.
Heart,
MJ
It's really hard to say, but I suspect it's true. It is truly sad if this guy is actually giving advice to school children and one of the decision-makers for the school. The only bright side I can see to it is that if he is indeed the person cited, he can't do too much damage in a town that size. That "seven out of ten bullies who aren't bullies" nonsense he came up with probably describes the entire male student body of the school district. Why would anyone want to fake being a honcho in Tripoli?
My mother gave me the opposite advice. She wanted me to "treat others as you want to be treated." You know what? I doesn't work.
Great article. I've been bullied a few times in school, and always fought back. But then I'm just another Right Winged Extremist.
I kind of liked GTA IV myself… <ducks>
I was taught,"If you ever get into a fair fight, you screwed up." Words to live by.
Worst Troll Ever indeed, and no pie just compounds the sin.
Indeed, anyone who's seen much of combat doesn't usually start out their conversations out that way, let alone using it as a way to feel or claim superiority of thought over someone.
Hollywood's comfortable with violence for the sake of violence. It's only when it's in the service of a cause, and frequently a righteous cause, that they get nervous. And the bad guys frequently get a pass on how much violence they're allowed to employ because, hey, violence is evil.
It would have if you were a sado-masochist.
I think Hitler would probably be the type to play Civilization as a conqueror-type, the ones who brag about how they managed to take over the whole world during the BC years or so.
Correct, Violence doesn't help.
But a laser giuded bomb eliminates Terrorists.
And a Nave Seal sharpshooter eliminates Pirates.
Very quickly. Very efficiently.
LOL
Recently witnessed, and took part in some debates on "corporal punishment" (spanking). Funny that our society has wussified, become more whiny, and criminal activity has increased at the same time we have been abolishing the tried-and-true method of laying it across the cheeks of our children.
Man, if only Dr. King had had the benefit of Crowder's wisdom… Instead of getting beaten on for years with no retaliation, the whole civil rights movement could've risen up as one and started murdering all those tyrannical hillbillies down in diabetes land!
As I read this I thought of this quote from the book Starship Troopers
"Anyone who clings to the historically untrue — and thoroughly immoral — doctrine that "violence never solves anything" I would advise to conjure up the ghosts of Napoleon Bonaparte and of the Duke of Wellington and let them debate it. The ghost of Hitler could referee, and the jury might well be the Dodo, the Great Auk, and the Passenger Pigeon. Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedoms."
Well, I am parent, and as a kid got picked on by bullies all through middle school and into HS. Getting punched and stuff was pretty hard to ignore. I finally stopped it with a quick right cross to one of the idiots one morning. Never had a problem again. My kids have been told to never start a fight, but if some goofball tries to hurt you – hurt him and end it quickly. Most bullies are just insecure jerks who need to feel in control. Once you make that unavailable to them they leave.
If you want to deal with the fringe shooters against a time honored reality of life, so be it. Of course the way to stop the shooters was to make sure someone else had a gun to stop them before the body count got too high. Then we would have less of it.
Peace through Strength has morphed into Just Be Nice And Everyone Will Like You. It didn't work on the playground; it doesn't work in the real world either.
http://the100mostannoyingthings.blogspot.com/
I used to work at my university's library. I read someone's thesis about "priming and agression." They set volunteers in front of a tv, and showed either nature documentaries or contact sports (like football) to them. Then they made the volunteers play a video game that permitted either stealth or gun-blazing action to achieve the goals. The people who watched the nature documentary by and large used stealth. The ones who watched football used headshots. Granted, it was just an undergraduate thesis at Appalachian State, and video games aren't real life, but there you go, and I'm done being devil's advocate.
Violence is just diplomacy by other means. Also, it solves problems quicker.
I was the 98 pound weakling who looked like he should've been in Hanson. I think I had the 4th highest GPA in the school too. A couple of guys spent the afternoon picking on me. (The smaller one had about 6" on me in height, but was skinny as a rail, the other was a foot taller, and about 100 pounds heavier. And he was dumb. Really, really dumb.) They did their thing and walked off laughing. I followed them, suckerpunched the big one, and walked away. Later, the skinny one held me down so the fat one could punch me. He hit me thrice in the jaw, I hit him once. His jaw swelled up like a grapefruit, and mine didn't even hurt. For a 200 lb oaf, he hit like a girl, and they never messed with me again after that. In fact, no one did.
Hitler DID have a time out …. remember after the Beer Hall Putsch ??? He wrote Mein Kampf ….so quite the contrary the time out session gave Adolf time to write a best selling book.
So those who are bullied must request an outside assessment to confirm their suspicions that they are being bullied? A physical threat or assault is not enough evidence? A reasonable person cannot be trusted to utilize the necessary, reasonable force to stop a threat or attack? You seem to have a hard time telling the difference between reality and paranoia, as did those delusional mass killers that you cite.
In my line of work, I have dealt with employee violence, child violence, domestic violence and street violence extensively. A paranoid individual, who will not make good judgements, will give ample signs that there needs to be an intervention. They clearly react to things that have not happened. I would include those who are terrified that an individual will take steps to protect his/herself or loved ones as being paranoid and delusional.
Hitler DID have a time out …. remember after the Beer Hall Putsch ??? He wrote Mein Kampf ….so quite the contrary the time out session gave Adolf time to write a best selling book.
Great shows!!
"Liberals" allegedly hate violence but love coercion. Savor the irony.
Having flashbacks to the tiger cages, Ron?
MLK Jr on numerous occasions said that without his reasoned arguments AND Malcom X's threats of violence, the civil rights movement never would have worked. Rev Dr King hoped that people would understand his point of view, and no one would have to resort to rioting. But he was glad to have that backup plan.
I always remember this quote when people bring up the violence-never-solves-anything argument. Great book.
Jesus did say 'Turn the other cheek" but He also took whips to the moneychangers in the temple. When it needed to be done, Jesus didn't hesitate.
Also, I just watched this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwKIUMbi9Jk. Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr said "People confuse non-violent resistance with non-resistance." Turning the other cheek is meaningless if the other party feels no guilt.
Well if the threat of violence is the empirical equivalent of actual violence, I'm going to kick Sean Hannity directly in the bozack
Thanks, Steven, for this article. Another total keeper!
you bet- as said it's generally a parlor trick designed to quash debate…not to mention it had no bearing on the topic at hand, either.
What was it you said about those who claim to be bullied? Speaking for yourself?
welcome home, brother- and do not cast aspersions on others. We have seen much violence- sorry to say.
Dear Miles "Never Met a Pirate He Wouldn't Pay off" —
If only the Jews had been nicer to Hitler. Miles, clean the wax out of your ears — violence to TYRANTS. Ghandi could be peaceful because he was up against the Brits, and King against America — both had hateful individuals who used violence, but were essentially good, decent societies, which did not have a stranglehold on them by tyrants, sadists, i.e., (cover your delicate non-judgmental ears) evil people.
Try picketing Idi Amin, try singing "We Shall Overcome" for Pol Pot.
Ha ha. Indeed. I have said such many times Mr. Crowder.
Violence is sometimes the ONLY answer.
Mr. Ron Orf Do you consider violence against so called "rant and ravers" an appropriate outlet for your fear and frustration ?
Ron, you are a ridiculous human being and part of the great problem of in America today. It's obvious that you work in a school because of your obvious attitude in your post. If you truly served in combat…..thank you, but you've lost your way and the values that were taught to you in the military. No one in the right wing in this country is hoping someone messes with them, we're just prepared if thay do. In general, conservatives want to be left alone and live their lives with as little gov't interference as possible.
One problem is that you take these examples of aberrant behavior (severe mental illness) from the news and then make this completely illogical leap from that to your absurd statements about bullies, such as, to paraphrase you, nine out of ten students at your school who say they are bullied are just paranoid. Huh? How is it just paranoid when someone wants to beat a kid up for no apparent reason? How is it just paranoia when the bully calls him or her names, texts threats to them or about them to others, posts lies about the person online, or any of the other ways kids have of bullying each other these days? You have an insanely skewed view of the world if you think nine out of ten times people are not only making the threat up, but are "just waiting" for someone to cause trouble.
So "people who are mean to you at school" fall under the heading TYRANTS, then?
No, but people who beat you up are. So, you prefer to take your problem to the "I don't care who started it crowd" to solve? "Telling" on the bully makes the bully see the error of his/her ways?
Are you an attorney?
I'm from Iowa too (grew up in the NW part of the state but live in Davenport now), and I usually try to defend my state, but it's getting harder to do that as the liberal line of thinking slowly spreads.
Like most any state, we're typically solid blue in the bigger cities where there are universities or enough people to make a living out of living off the government. But you get out more in the country and smaller towns (especially the area I grew up in) where people have to work for a living and common sense, traditional values usually tend to win the day.
You wouldn't know it from all the attention we've been getting in the media lately though. Iowa is a decent enough place to live, but Texas is looking better and better. I'll put up with the odd hurricane every once and again if I can skip the winters. All that global warming y'know.
Yeah, but the shame of it is that these days, if your kid does that he doesn't just get sent home for a day. They arrest him, and give him a juvenile record. You're not even allowed to THINK about hitting someone in school anymore, let alone do it. It was just beginning on the tail end of my tenure in the "great" public school system in the country (HS graduate of 2000). I had a friend who was punched, unprovoked, while sitting at his desk and knocked out. So, he never even throw a punch but the school viewed it as a "fight" and called the cops. It's gotten worse since then from what I hear.
I suppose that's better then having them screw US, as their Dear Leader is now doing with wild abandon.
P.S. Happy Tea Party Day to one and all…!
Yes, but I'll bet their cheese and chocolate isn't nearly as tasty…
Liberal logic. We have terrorists in our custody that have plans to blow up an American city new week. It is NOT OK to waterboard them to prevent the death of say, 3000 citizens. That makes you Hitler.
We have one American captain on a boat in Int;;l waters. It IS OK to kill three Pirates who MIGHT kill the captain. In fact, we will the POTUS credit for facing down terrorism.
Who is confused? Don't get me wrong. A dead pirate is a good thing, as far as I am concerned. In fact, I would have hung them AFTER the Seals shot them.
I don't get the waterboarding issue.
Liberals out there; pls explain to this poor feeble libertarian.
I'm no scientist, but that study is crap. What are the real world consequences of employing violence in videogames? In my opinion, these studies trying to make a link between people watching acts of violence and then committing acts of violence are highly suspect, as there usually tend to be more than just a single cause for someone committing an act of violence.
I've played games since I was five, everything from Doom to Mortal Kombat to GoldenEye to Call of Duty. All the violent ones that are supposed to make me a sadistic serial killer, yet I've hardly been in a fight in my life. Why? Because my parents taught me the difference between real and make-believe, and the consequences of real world violence. If watching violent movies or TV shows or playing violent video games makes people killers, you should be hearing about mass murders on the news every night.
The moron who said "Violence never solved anything" Just wasn't trying hard enough.
I agree, that was mightily well said.
Great book, heavy on the philosophy of duty (not that you would ever know from the movie). It was on the recommended reading list by the Commandant of the Marine Corps for up to Lance Corporal:
http://www.hitechcj.com/afrl/id29.html
I am not sure if this is the most up to date list, I believe that the current list is available at the MCU site but I can't get to it. Worth looking through the recommendations for all ranks.
"Does anyone here honestly think that “Seung-Hi Choi” went on his Virginia-Tech shooting spree after getting fired up at an NRA rally? His pre-massacre phone-pictures showed him mimicking poses that he’d seen in “Tomb Raider” for crying out loud."
The movie he was mimicking was actually the Korean movie Oldboy.
All it proved is how people reacted in the game (Metal Gear Solid, for the curious), it said nothing about real life. Like you, I grew up with Mortal Kombat and Doom, and progressed to Grand Theft Auto and Metal Gear Solid. I've used violence to solve my problems once and only once in my entire life.
The problem is that the people that do use video games as an excuse are the ones in the news. You and I, upstanding citizens that we are, aren't going to be interviewed for playing video games and not killing people.
And notice how it says the issue is just immigration, not specifically illegal immigration. I can only speak for myself, but I don't have a problem with people wanting to come to this country to enjoy everything it has to offer, so long as they do it legally. That's what motivated my ancestors once upon a time, and I can't begrudge someone else wanting to do the same thing, provided it's done correctly and legally.
If you are here by any other means (incorrectly or illegaly) then you are breaking the laws of this land and deserve to be brought to justice. Simple as that. If you didn't want to risk breaking up your family, going to jail or being deported, then you should have obeyed the laws and played by the rules like others do. Why is it our fault and we're the bad guys for protecting our borders and enforcing our laws when you willfully break them?
Barney Frank trolls at a lot of places, usually filled with dark leather and interior decorators.
Your Dad should be President!!! God Bless Him!
I know, that's why I'm hoping the paper wasn't making the argument of, "See, these people watched violent TV then went it guns ablazin' on MGS, thus proving watching violent content leads to violent behavior."
Just because you commit violent acts in a video game doesn't mean you are a violent person in real life. BTW in reference to the whole topic, I don't think being a willful aggresor is anything to be proud of. But standing up for yourself and fighting back in self-defense absolutely does solve problems, i.e. never start a fight, but if one finds you, you darn well better be the one ending it.
What, you don't expect Ron to go do some imitation of Hub from Secondhand Lions?
Your right it doesn't work by itself, in a perfect world 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you' would be the only law needed. Unfortunately this world is far from perfect, so I realized that you need to match it with the old adage 'an eye for an eye'.
It basically means, don't bully other people, but if people bully you. F##k them up. Pretty soon they leave you alone.
Obviously the best solution is to encourage our kids to beat the holy hell out of one another
Hey, I totally dig first amendment rights. However, I really don't dig that, or any other, image of Barney "the Fink" Frank. Up with the first amendment, out with Barney Frank.
Amen! No truer words protect our rights! I thank God for these brave men and women, true to life American Heros.
if only his nitwit constituency in Boston felt the same way…
what Ron did, like Sean said in the'Untouchables' is 'bring a knife to a gunfight'… this is a tough site for the uninitiated.
what Ron did, like Sean said in the'Untouchables' is 'bring a knife to a gunfight'… this is a tough site for the uninitiated.
WITHOUT VIOLENCE……THERE COULD BE NO HOLLYWOOD SCRIPTS FOR THESE LOONIES TO ACT TO…..
What a great post….you do have a gift with words….. excellent (and not in a Rain Man kind of way). I've started letting your stuff interrupt my vegetating time and that is quite unheard of (just ask my family and friends who have been told not to ever bother me while I'm……well….breathing)
Really well done…..
Carrie
"Preaching the wonders of properly-employed use of force to our kids is not only honest… It’s our duty in preparing them for the real world."
Being a "former" friend of the family I know Tom Klebold taught his some the same thing.
Bully gets in your face smack him in the nose, problem solved. We’ve successfully raised a legion of metrosexual wussies. Many of our kids have been groomed for failure thanks to our university system, don’t just pay the bills be an influence, they simply don’t understand what real success means, they’re spoiled.
That is where I first read it was from the reading list. I have always been a sci-fi fan and was intrigued at a science fiction book being on that list. One of the most enjoyable choices I made.
He was quite content to raise me, my obnoxious sister that helped design TRUPACT, my restaurant manager brother, and my handicapped brother that co-owns and runs a business, as well as staying in love and married to my mother all these long years.
Beats the hell out of what Obama will have after four years.
Apparently the "Merchant Marine" Organizers didn't get the word. We will have to F##k up a lot more, because I want these ACORN wannabes to get the message whether the phone rings or not.
The "Letter of Marque" idea is a good one. Gives Blackwater a new income stream.
I'm jogging my memory a bit. There was only a correlation in aggression in-game with watching aggression beforehand when they played MGS immediately after watching professional sports. The longer the cool-off period, the less aggressive the participants were.
The abstract (here) paints a bleaker picture, but that's liberal arts colleges for you.
I'm offering one for five against you. Hannidy takes the featherduster without flinching, smiles, and puts you down. Hard.
Actually I think you're more like that collaborator running France at the time. No one cares to remember him either.
That dude looks like a cartoon firefighter! The last thing he put down were backing vocals on a Carrie Unerwood cd
Might have saved Eric Mohat, Jeremiah Lasater, Megan Meier, and Jesse Logan.
Well, maybe someone pushing their fist through the face of Lori Drew Grills might have saved Megan.
And I have always used it. There is a reference to Carthage as well, after the Third Punic War. Destroyed utterly and rebuilt for the Roman conquerors.
Oops, forgot about that…
Win! +1!
'Allo 'Allo!, it was frequently in the Saturday night rotation of British comedies on the one local PBS station, pretty damn hilarious. (Hey, antenna only, that night was dead on programming.)
Ron Or wrote: "the report does not come from janet n or the government"
The report comes from the Dept.of Homeland Security. That's part of the government.
That sneaky penguin with his rubber rooster cap…
Can't wait for the next W&G movoie. They're making it now.
Actually, the Communists were prety notorious for sharing the wealth they confiscated with their cronies. Is that so different than Paulson & Giethner (yes, one worked for Bush) sending money to their Wall St. friends?
What Bush policies do you find unconstitutional? What court cases support your claim? If you think Bush ignored the Constitution, then do you believe Obama is doing likewise by continuing Bush policies? If so, is that ok with you, or should Obama be encouraged to change?
As for things we fear not coming to pass – you're saying Hollywood doesn't crank out movies that nudge the cultural center toward the left? That's the basic premise of this site.
That was what I always tried to explain to my mother. "Do unto others…" doesn't work unless we all have the same goal (which we don't).
Kind of funny that, as a child, I understood the real world better than my mother.
"Do unto others" works best with those who have had done unto them. After you've been hurt you know what it means to do the hurting and want to avoid getting hurt again.
Best to assume everyone follows it. If someone hurts you, by that rule they really are asking for it.
"If your opponent has a conscience, then follow Gandhi. But if your enemy has no conscience, like Hitler, then follow Bonhoeffer." — Martin Luther King
If I weren't already married…
"…those tyrannical hillbillies down in diabetes land!"
More commonly known at the time as "the Democratic Party"
You have forgotten something.
You used to learn the levels of acceptable violence in school.
Fight between school boys – hitting, some kicking, etc. Nothing that would do any real harm.
Boy hitting girl – just not acceptable. other boys would stop you.
girl hitting boy – girl was assumed to have a reason. But only one hit or kick.
The next levels were more up in the air.
I can remember when I first knew that schools were failing to do this. It happened in a Fort Worth High School. 2 boys fighting one starts to gouage the eyes of the other. They were pulled appart befoore he could hurt the other kids eyes. He had no idea of the acceptable levels of violence.
The extreem violence in the schools has come because the schools have been teaching that there is no acceptable violence. So the kid learn that and when he breaks or loses it he goes all the way. He has seen in movies, and games that the way to solve problems is to KILL. He can have his life ruined and go to juvinal for fighting (throwing a few punches) there not going to do that much more if he kills the guy. Or so he thinks.
That is why when I was a kid late 50's early 60's a Boys fight wasn't stopped on the play ground. The teachers watched to make sure it didn't get out of hand but that was it. Even if you lost the fight with the Bully normally he didn't want to mess with you again because he didn't want to fight you again.
That is the main problem in the schools. They teach that there is no acceptable violence EVER for ANYTHING. Even if someone is hitting you you are not supposed to fight back. If you do you get in as much trouble as the kid that started it.
School should teach
1. when is violence acceptable
2. what level of violence is acceptable in what circumstances
It is funny, my mum was the same. So I just did what I needed to do; then I lied to her about it.
Thankfully, as an adult most people don't want to bully me so 'Do onto others ….' works just fine now.
It's a FACT that violence never solves anything…… if used in insufficient quantity.
What do you expect?!! Humans always take the short route. You feed them s*** and they will want more if that is what they have had for nourishment from young age. There is nothing redeeming in any thing (mostly) coming out of the the money-reapers in the industry of entertainment. A disciplined dog is a good dog, otherwise its just a problem for everyone. Maybe this is too heavy.
I teach my children that violence doesn't solve problems. Meanwhile I teach them right from wrong and how to shoot!
I remember a saying which kinda goes something like 'the person who has nothing that is worth fighting for, has nothing worth living for'.
Teaching kids that nothing is worth fighting for is the worst thing you can do. We know it is not true, therefore we don't believe anything else you tell us.
DISPUTE!! Mein Kampf was NOT a best seller at the time. Actually if more of Adolf's contemporaries had read (and believed) it, things might have turned out differently. But you're correct in that it's become a best seller. I read that it is second in sales only to the Koran in Arab countries. And if you have NOT seen the film "An American Carol", there's a great scene with Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo, and Chamberlin.
years ago my daughter's kindergarten called me up to tell me that my daughter had committed the unforgivable sin of fighting with a boy (this is Seattle–the liberals here think San Francisco is a bit right wing). I asked a little about the situation and discovered that the boy had been picking on her all week. The school had been trying to convince the little boy to behave in a more civilized manner.
My response to the school was that I would not punish my daughter, but would congratulate her on not being a victim. I told the school that they were teaching children–girls in particular–to be victims and accept aggression from others. I would have no part of it and managed to embarass them by extensive use of gender propaganda to not punish her.
My daughter grew up to be a real pain in the ass, but never backed down from anyone. Including a charging grizzly once upon a time (but that is another story).
Yes, I assume that everyone that you have an argument or disagreement with is either an expert at martial arts, armed or is a little coward that will get his 20 friends to attack me.
It helps me keep my cool and avoid conflict most of the time. As the saying goes 'An armed society is a polite society'.
Awesome! Couldn't have said it better myself.
It was only because people were willing to fight for what they believed in that this country exists in the first place. Not because of ink on a page. Words have no meaning unless someone is willing to back them up with force. Judges and juries have no power without a police force and nations are nothing but lines on a map without armies.
And if anyone disagrees with me…well, what are you going to do about it? PUNK!
From behind my monitor
How is your mom's basement these days?
My dad always told me that you should never look for a fight and always try to keep out of them, but someone is going to hit you, hit him first and take him down, there is no reason for you to get hurt or for someone to put their hands on you.
Ah, the things you learn from gun toting computer nerds…
Violence might not always be the best answer but if you take it off the table before you even start you're most likely going to be screwed.
It's interesting that you found one of your offenders on Facebook, but won't be sending a message. I saw the kid that gave me the most trouble just two years later, while I was still in high school. He happened to get a job at a little neighbor business, and I lived right next door. As much as I wanted to punch his lights out, I never tried. He was actually very nice to me–probably because he was interested in one of my sister's friends, and had to ask me some questions about her. It would have been nice if he had apologized for his behavior. Then, I probably would have punched him out.
John Kerry was in Vietnam. He's written stuff too. You get as much respect as he does for those actions.
One to six. And you get a free first shot.
Led by "Mumbles and Sheets" Byrd.

I remember that! The opening had a character doing the stereotypical French mustache and beret, reading the paper at the little cafe table, right?
BTW, how in the hell did you survive PBS programming? The only time they even have something halfway decent on, some 60's fadeout comes on every three-and-a-half minutes and starts hitting me up for change in $25.00 increments. The other dropped shoe was whenever something started to attract a following, they'd switch it out for some banal tripe about mating minnows or some such thing.

You're right Dan, that's exactly what they teach now. I remember them starting this philosophy when I was in high school (small town, so it came a bit later there). The rule was if you were fighting, you were suspended, etc. Even if you didn't start it, you tried to leave; if you defended yourself from a beating in any way, you were fighting, and just as guilty. How is that a sensible policy? This bully is bothering you, you try to leave, he won't let you, he starts beating you up, and they want you to just stand there and let him beat on you. Pitiful.
That was Mom's idea for Saturday night. Near the end they had on Red Dwarf, almost made it a better idea to not duck out being at the parents' house. Eh, they have on Nova, Scientific American Frontiers… Nowadays on digital we get the Create add-on channel, good stuff. But of the two channels we had reception for only one survived the digital transition, and wasn't the BritCom one.
I stiffed them years ago. Pledged when the station had on Doctor Who and Star Trek. Year later, phone call. Um, I'm busy, I'll think about it. Went through about six mailings, envelope printing going from black to red, before they gave up demanding their money.
When Ms. Napolitano deended the report on live TV, it suggested to me she supported it. Perhaps I infer too much frm her rather vigourous defence of it. I am informed by federal and local police sources that such reports serve as guidance documents for police in performing stops and searches. I was also a bit put off by the description of "single issue" activists such as people who are pro-life as being potential terror threats. Most Catholics, and many Protestants, Jews and Muslims fall in that category. Are these people indeed potential terror threats?
Perhaps Ms. Napolitano's attentions would be better focused on known terror groups such as the MS 13 and other gangs in the US who hve actually engaged in acts of terror. Lest I forget, we also have the Aryan Brotherhood and Muslim extremist groups that are being recruited in the world's largest prison system. I suggest we check on people with know records of violence rather than engaging in speculation
"Preaching the wonders of properly-employed use of force to our kids is not only honest… It’s our duty in preparing them for the real world." Yep. It's probably why Republicans don't start wars, Democrats start wars. You use force properly the first time, and no one messes with you. You go around saying how much you hate violence, and people see you as weak, and they attack you. Remember Machiavelli. "It is best to be both feared and loved, but if you have to choose, it is better to be feared than loved."

I read that article.
One of the two was just a pure psychopath -and excellent manipulator. He also acted very kind in front of the teacher.
The other one was suffering from constant depression and was ripe to be manipulated by a pure psychopath with murderous intentions.
