Since putting a “fatwa” on my head seems to be in vogue, I’m banking on getting my face on the cover of “GQ”. Get lost, Jude Law.
Sure, following the massive influx of violent threats, I could have opted to remove the most recent video. Everyone else (YouTube officials, in particular) seem to be kowtowing to these crazy Islamic cyber-fear-mongers. I’d rather be keel-hauled.
With this post I’m hoping to finally expose and open a discussion (the term “brainstorm” might be more appropriate) on how to deal with cyber-terrorism. No, I’m not talking about the dramatic, “hack into the Federal Governments computers (a la Mafiaboy) and destroy the system” type of cyber-terrorism, but rather the type of online intimidation that occurs in our living rooms every day, making us afraid to speak out.
God forbid you insinuate the religion of Islam is anything short of peaceful. It only results in responses such as these:
“DEATH WILL FIND YOU NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE EVEN IF YOUR ON THE MOON WITH WALLS BUILD UP HIGH DEATH WILL STILL COME AND FIND YOU”
“ur a freaken racist pig… otherwise u wouldnt be making any sarcastic remarks…u just got the worst reputation amoungst muslims that I showed that video to…they were cursing u like crazy….take my advice and remove that racist video”

Charming. In their defense folks… My video IS classified as hate speech. At least, that’s what thousands of Muslims said whilst flooding YouTube with constant “flagging.” In case you haven’t yet heard, there are actual online Muslim networks that exist solely for this purpose. The minute anything even remotely critical of Islam pops up online, thousands of members are notified and are commanded to flag, spam and utilize comment suppression techniques that ultimately result in the video’s removal and permanent banning of the user.
The frightening part is that their “Denial of Service” tactics are devastatingly effective, extremely covert and easily mobilized. I guess that a nation of people who can’t fire their Kalashnikovs without blowing out a shoulder socket have finally found a way to level the playing. Allah Akbar!
Multimedia sites are becoming a playground for liberal propaganda and unfair censorship… All in the name of “tolerance.” My question to you is this: What can you do to help stop it? What can we ALL do to counterbalance the growing offense that’s been mounted?
Whereas the Colt revolver once served as the great equalizer, the personal computer has taken its place. We can either add it to our own arsenal or fall by the wayside and let the “Sentenza Angel Eyes” of the world ride off into the sunset.

You have to realize that as a liberal only her definition of DOS is correct.
No matter how much so many among us want to believe that Islam is THE religion of peace, Muslims make it impossible. Telling the truth about Islam and making Islam look bad is one and the same.
Steven, hang tough bro. Americans fought and died for freedom of speech (among other things) and as far as I'm concerned anyone who would try to take that from us is our enemy. I respect the Muslim's right to practice their religion but if someone wants to call what they practice silly or wrong then the Muslims need to get used to it. Its called FREEDOM! I think the real problem is SOME of them really do want to hide what they believe and are teaching. Thats the big secret that warrants the over reaction from these groups.
Anyone familiar with rating site "Web of Trust" will find example after example of conservative web sites being rated poorly. Same with the usual sites such as wikipedia, digg, del.icio.us, youtube. I'm guessing the leftists out there spend their every waking moment on line and have nothing better to do than to seek out conservative entities and drub them with a bunch of fake ratings. It's a tough problem to solve when you've got 50% of the nation acting like children and you've got web sites that are at best unresponsive to the problem and at worst encourage it.

That comment I shared was a mild one. There was also one that was a death threat. It was horrifying to read such words directed at me by complete strangers, for no reason.
Anyway, keep on speaking out. I will too. The only way they'll win is if we give in to their bullying.

The intent is the same, to inundate website with so much traffic that it crashes. You can do that many ways, if they choose to do it by flagging youtube videos, that still works. But youtube is built to handle extreme traffic spikes, so unless the volume of attackers is monumental, a DoS would be unsuccessful.
Actually I think the main problem here is not the radical Muslims. There are tons of religions, and for each religion there are a bunch of people who hate that religion and talk bad about it. And people from said religion try to stop them. Nothing particularly new about that phenomenon.
I think the real root of the problem is that the Left is allowing these religious bigots to continue with this silencing of the opposition. Which in turn allows them to further radicalize. It is for PC issues that google is so anxious to take down any video against Islam. I think it is this attitude that is actually more dangerous.

I want to see it." Just like those Republicans in FLA who went down to the recount sites to keep the recounts going, and were successful, we've gotts be Johnny-on-the-spot too. Hell, just look at the leftists that spend copious amounts of their free time trolling this little conservative blog.
How on earth can we combat these childish tactics when most conservatives are doing the grunt work for America and actually working for a living while putting our families first? I tried flagging all Impeach Bush posts on the Ask Obama website and a) felt stupid and petty and b) wished I had that hour of my life back. I'm seriously considering getting back into teaching, just so I can help stem the liberal indoctrination of the next generation.
I recently experienced first hand what it was like to try and counter the vicious bigoted diatribes of
a radical ultra-leftist "international legal scholar and professor of law" (at a California University-
where else?!) named Ugo Mattei who blogged almost daily about the Israeli "genocide" and "massacre"
in Gaza against the brave Hamas "freedom fighters", and spewed the most vile Jew-baiting propaganda since the days of Goebbels. He actually claimed (in all seriousness) that Israel was specifically targeting civilians, and that the result was a genocidal campaign like that in Rwanda (where the Hutu militias systematically butchered between 800,000 – 1,000,000 Hutu civilians!
I tried countering his INSANE accusations with reason (and admittedly a measure of
appropriately snide sarcasm), and he countered this by complaining to the editor that he was "scared" of me, and my postings also got flagged by others of his ilk. Shortly thereafter I was EXPELLED and BANNED from the site (despite the fact that one of my blogs had been a "featured editor's choice", and I was even labeled a "rising star"!
I won't mention their website because I don't want to give them any publicity whatsoever, but it
is a well-known site specifically for and by authors and writers of every persuasion- and unfortunately it turned out that about 99.999 % of them were insipid bleeding heart liberals. What's really frightening though is the fact that this piece of human garbage is a university professor, and is busy instilling his vile Marxist/Muslim terrorist-appeasing ideology propaganda in his (hapless) students on a daily basis.

You should repost the video on tons of other sites…too many for them to flag. Many sites like vimeo and metacafe don't have the same ridiculous flagging mechanisms and haven't been infiltrated by open minded censors.
I teach in a large university, and there are a lot of conservative students out there. I try not to communicate my political opinions to my students, but I make sure that they have all of the information so that they can make an informed decision. Many of my liberal colleagues use their classes as a soapbox to browbeat their students with an agenda, but I have found that if you just give students the truth, they usually make the "right" choices.

It's simple you get your computer to do it for you. You go to yahoo at various Kinko locations and set up say 100 email accounts. You then set up 100 YT accounts. You put the passwords in an Excel spreadsheet and then wrte a VBA or VB.net macro to log onto YT accounts and send a form letter type protest. You write say five different paragraphs the program randomly send 1 2 or 3 to make it seem different making sure to use the the Excel file with names and passwords to make it seem like several people did it. YT of course has programs to counter this but it is based on the number of posts. They send a picture that you have to type in or they kick you out. However I believe that 100 simultaneous logons and logoffs if the program is set up to pace the requests so that they don't all have very close together timestamps would be harder to catch.
This is what they are doing or probably a more effective java script.
Something similar to this is how google linked W to the word failure for the 2004 election campaign.
That video was hilarious, and what you should do is make a similar one about the Bible and compare the responses you get.

I’m taking the chance here to see what happens. Opinions expressed are ONLY to see who overreacts to the statements (I’m really doing this to see if you practice what you’re saying).
The bible describes having a tribe trick another group into being circumcised so they could go in and kill them (Genesis 34) – this was in response to a rape, but they tricked and killed ALL the men, dragged away the women and children, and pillaged the town in response.
The bible(2 Kings 2:23-25) says “two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty-two lads of their number” because they made fun of Elisha’s bald head while he was going to the mountains.
There are others, but those have always stuck in my head – Abraham and the “sacrifice” of his son has always bothered me as well.
Remember, I’m asking what YOUR Christian response is – I don’t approve of Islamic extremists either (the Prophet really wasn’t aiming at that either – he didn’t care what name you called God, and his Word was much the same as Christ – he just wanted an acknowledgment of God – I read the Quran too.) I think the rest of the rules are like Leviticus – Islamic and Christian rules are both for the community, and they might need recognition of the time that has passed – both the Prophet and the Christ discussed this. People without anger have to talk, ’cause some of the anger on both sides needs adjusting.

I agree with College Prof. Just give them all sides of the issues and let them make up their own mind. Although, I was only a second grade teacher, we started them early in the lopsided leftist curriculum. My own kids are in private school and will stay there as long as we can afford it and homeschooled if we can't. My third grade son was learning about free market principles this week!! His SS test had great questions about businesses, profits, expenses, and the importance of budgets. I doubt the current Congress could pass this test!

I was waiting for a follow-up post like this one. I often will post your videos as my Facebook status and not one of them ever receives negative reaction, until I posted your latest video on Islam. A friend from high school, so someone I haven't seen or spoken to in a couple years, commented with two passages from what I am guessing is the Koran. Neither of them made much sense. Go figure.

Chance, this is going to be a super short, overly simplistic response to a difficult question, but the main difference in your scenario, as with all of Christianity, hinges on Christ. Some of your examples from the Old Testament are the result of God pouring out his wrath after people ignored his laws. Christ's act on the cross was an act of God pouring out his wrath on us for the same thing, only Christ took our place and ensured that God wouldn't pour out his wrath again until the final judgment. Since Christ's act on the cross, we are no longer subject to the old laws of the Old Testament (although many are still practical), but Christians are subjects to Christ's grace and should try to follow his teachings accordingly. Loving and praying for your enemies are some of those teachings. Hope that helps.

I teach music, but the subject of politics comes up from time to time. I'm always careful to tell students that whatever they want to believe is fine, as long as there are legitimate reasons. I'll also occasionally challenge them to defend those reasons if they're interested in doing so (it's not the class for that, so the discussions are brief). I really like my students….even the Liberal ones seem to have a good head on their shoulder. I predict that generation will move the paradigm back to the Right (even the Left won't be as extreme as it is now).
It seems to me the only way we'll have peace is if one side or the other is dead.

Suffice it to say that it's a site where the membership is open to published authors and those in related fields;
and they blog about matters related to publishing, book signings, and such things.
But as soon as the Israeli incursion of Gaza started, several of those folks suddenly revealed their TRUE colors (blood red), and immediately started posting the most vile bigoted and mindless anti-Israel (e.g., Jew baiting, for we all know that anti-"Zionist" is just a smarmy code-phrase for anti-semitic) rants comparing them to the Nazis, etc. You know, the "usual" stuff now found all throughout "Eurabia" (formerly known as Western Europe).
Ugo Mattei (who is, as I said, an "international legal scholar" and a Professor of Law at a University in California!) was blogging almost daily with THE most viciously anti-semitic rants imaginable, and I was

My equally short and simplistic response goes two ways.
First, you’re quite right – the examples I gave are extreme and from older chapters of the Bible. However, no fundamentalist Christian I’ve talked to has agreed that Christ’s sacrifice has removed the requirements of the Old Testament – in fact, most “good” evangelists hang far more of their sermons on Old Testament diatribe than New Testament tolerance – hence my statement that there is discussion needed.
Second (and I’m poking you a little, but honestly just a bit, since I appreciate your comment) your first sentence “hinges on Christ”. While I don’t have a problem with the statement, I will point out that those who believe in God and his benevolent teachings should not necessarily argue with the names of the sacrifices to God – whether the name be Christ, Prophet (who should not be named or pictured, which bothers me, but still), or, frankly, the God thanked by a Fireman who died last week expressing his thanks to God (un-specified) after saving lives in a fire.
I commend you for actively paying attention to the arguments of the "other side." There should be more liberals like you. But we don't HATE liberals. People have the right to their own opinions and say such stupid things dumbs down the debate and is dehumanizing. Unlike liberals, we actually believe in the right to free speech.

I’m Canadian and, not very far from my place, a peaceful residential neighborhood, some Muslims tossed a Molotov cocktail into a Jewish school for young boys. Fortunately that day their teacher was sick and no one was burnt alive, but the intent was there. My observation is that most Muslims aren’t that actively violent, but most have an appallingly passive hatred that comes from somewhere in their teachings. My perception of them is that if they could find a leader to give them the “courage” of mass anonymity they would be all too willing to kill all the Jews, old and young, in sight. The world gives me a kind of 1938 feeling, say when I watch a mindless crowd parading through Toronto chanting, “Kill the Jews! Your turn will come!” The 1938 feeling is strong overseas with the “almost-a-majority” European cowards who have (basically) changed little since 1938. News item: 30% of Europeans think that Jews caused the present financial crisis.
We shouldn’t forget that the pogrom of WWII not only took out 6 million Jews, but 60 million of the rest of us. That’s what hatred does. When I see violence in the heart of a Muslim, even tho he is too passive to express it except verbally on the net I’m not impressed and I can’t be sympathetic. And neither am I impressed by non-Mulims who are conned by the transparent tactics of “professional victims.” If we don’t stand against such nonsense we are doomed to repeat WWII in a more horrible version. We need guys like Steven Crowder and less “professional victims.

However, we must dmit there is blood on some Israeli hands too. Need I say more than Irgun? The Palestinians got screwed, but IIRC, they first got screwed by an Ottoman land grant program that gave most of their land to absentee Arab landlords, who turned around and sold it to Jewish organizations and individual Jews trying to build the Jewish state. Understandably, Palestinians who had been on that land for centuries in some cases were upset. Why is it so hard to admit there is more than one side to this problem? That said, Israel has a strong peace movement in addition to its warmongers. The Palestinian side has yet to offer up a viable peace movement. Until they do, Israel wins.

Show me where the Bible says that you should beat your wife if she is disobedient…if you can find such a passage, show me a Christian religious leader who advocates such behavior and describes how it should be conducted, as can be said about the Koran. Look for yourself. Many of Islams leading Imams have spoken at length regarding the proper way to beat ones wife…recent ones.

BTW – the First Amendment prohibits the government from establishing laws of prior restraint of speech and it's not absolute.
