Burnt Offerings: The Horror, the Horror
by Robert DaviI would like to introduce my cousin Michael Rulle. My mother and his father were brother and sister, and his father, Uncle Mike, shaped a lot of our political ideas, though we thought he may have been the anti-christ, as he was a conservative and we were Kennedy democrats for a bit.
William F. Buckley was Uncle Mike’s favorite and we frequently were subjected to long dissertations.
Thank God for Uncle Mike.
When we were younger my cousin Michael and I would put on political skits. This was in the 60s and I must say we were ahead of our time. I like to think that we’re still ahead on some things — most recently when the economic crisis first started my cousin provided insights that only now some are talking about. He was WAY AHEAD OF THE CURVE, which is why I want to share his voice with you.
His latest piece, “The Horror……the Horror” is a good starting point. Then I suggest you go back to his blog “The Law of the Bad Premise” and share his stuff with your friends.
So a little about my cousin; he graduated number one in Columbia Business School, was a partner at Shearson Lehman Bros, CEO of CIBC Oppenheim Worldwide, ran an eight billion dollar hedge fund, another eleven billion dollar hedge fund, and is just shy of his Poli-Sci PHD.
I hope you enjoy — Robert Davi
The Horror……the Horror
by Michael RulleThe Anti-American Left is Born
For the second time on this blog site I quote Karl Marx’s satirical critical witticism of Hegel: “Hegel remarks somewhere that all great, world-historical facts and personages occur, as it were, twice. He has forgotten to add: the first time as tragedy, the second as farce”. Perhaps, like Marx, I too can add a twist to this aphorism. Oscar Wilde said that “life imitates art more than art imitates life”. Lets see if I can sew the giraffe’s head onto the elephant’s body. How about “All great artistic themes in history appear, as it were, twice. First as a tragic representation of profound truth, second as real life absurd farce”.
In Francis Ford Coppola’s cinematic adaptation of Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, Apocalypse Now, Captain Willard heads down river in search of an Army operative, Colonel Kurtz, who had gone very much off the reservation. In a paradoxical morality play, Kurtz had become so distraught by the horrors war had rendered, he rebelled by endlessly recommitting those same horrors, but without the false pretense of purpose or meaning. The death and torture machine Kurtz established down river was visible to all who approached, as heads, corpses and skeletons lined the entrance to his encampment. Willard fittingly releases Kurtz from his self inflicted psychic hell by hacking him to death with a hatchet/machete while Jim Morrison sings “this is the end, beautiful friend”. Brando/Kurtz memorably leaves this movie-world’s stage straining out the whisper “the horror….the horror”. Apocalypse Now – Kurtz Dies
I am pretty certain you have already figured out where I am heading, but, hey, lets just get on with it. Apocalypse Now, surely one of the great movies of the last 50 years, definitely caught and reflected the historic change in this country’s intelligentsia’s values and morals that occurred during the Vietnam war. A new anti-American, anti-military world view was born. Kurtz, who was identified early on by his superiors as a future leader of the military, was the logical final perfect product of this inherently corrupt system. Killing for killings sake. Evil beyond all evil. A giant genius had lost its way.

Wow! I hadn't thought of that: "A new anti-American, anti-military world view was born. Kurtz, who was identified early on by his superiors as a future leader of the military, was the logical final perfect product of this inherently corrupt system. Killing for killings sake. "
I LOVE that movie, it's a masterpiece. That trip up the river is the best depiction of Hell I've ever seen.
Thanks for posting that, Mr Davi, I absolutely have to read the whole thing – and the rest of the blog. It's wonderful!
Kurz dies? How about a spoiler alert!! (Just kidding.)
The nature of the American "center"-left definitely changed after/during Vietnam. Prior to that time, I think you could count on the democrats to be wrong, but loyal. But post-Vietnam, that changed. Their leaders became venomous and really sunk their teeth into hating this country, its traditions, and its people.
Still, prior to Bush, I just considered them annoying, nasty and lacking in patriotism. But their conduct during the Bush years (and their continuing anger and intolerance) has exposed them as disloyal and as enemies to everything this country stands for. How else do explain a party that stands for: speech codes, personal destruction of the opposition, an apartheid-like system of racial spoils, and so much more that comes right out of history's ash heap of hatered and failure. But the worst, the unforgiveable moment, came when they cheered for the loss of a war so that they could score political points.
I have the same feeling. When I see the democrats in Washington today, I don't see the love of country, and the willingness to put their country first, like I used to see. Now it's all contempt and anger.
So's your mom idiot.
Nicely done. It is an interesting world we live in. Liberals condem the CIA for torturing the folks plotting the next 911. Torture as has been described as making these murderers THINK they might be in some jeopardy. So, this is all done to make the liberals FEEL BETTER about themselves and their government. To them, this is all conceptual.
To the victims of 911 (who many of us knew personally) this was not a concept or a feeling. This was the end of their lives. So, sadly, we will endure another more horrible 911 in the future just so the liberals can feel good about their self-construced worlds. Sad but true..
thanks for a great piece of reading.

A thoughtful and very original view of the movie and great insight into the left. The fact that the American Left has no real idea of what the military is all about and really what their nation is all about, its foundations is so apparent in Kurz. They actually look at our guys like puppets, or Robots. I'd like to invite them to have a serious political discussion with a Marine Officer or a Navy SEAL. Lets see who comes out the more thoughtful and considerate intellectual.
Thanks for your insights troll, now go play with traffic. Thanks Robert. You cousin certainly identifes the problems, and until conservatives put forth a clear-cut, simple agenda to redirect the damage – to counterbalance our dangerous situation, we will squander our diminishing resources on asinine one world globalists. I just left the military before Carter took power, but my many compatriots that chose to stay in were disheartened by the drastic cuts and a the loss of espris de corps. I fear this will happen again, as they redirect monies to other "more civil" expenditures – like Harry's Vegas high speed rail, the Obama army and the fabulous acorn group of well-wishing patriots. Soros is Kurtz.

Speaking as a soldier, rest assured that we're not going to take mistreatment for very long. This is a different and much angrier generation than the ones that suffered through the Carter and Clinton years, when they were abusing and hating the military. These kids enlisting nowadays aren't going to just put up with it–they've grown up in an era of immediate gratification. I'm worried they'll do something violent and ill-advised when conditions and their treatment get bad enough.
Your right on point Brother. The Liberal Democrat's are at war with AMERICA.
It's perfectly clear that YOU are the idiot.
I was in "Carter's Military" and I HATED it! I was thrilled when my enlistment was up.
No decent training, no opportunity to reach pinnacles, pot-smoking whiners, just crap.
It left me with such a bad taste, I couldn't stick it out long enough for Ronnie to fix it.
I'm afraid all those twerps are running government now.
I have returned from the grave because you are such a disappointment to me. Grow up my son.
Oh, and that's not how your mom got rich.
"No man is justified in doing evil on the ground of expediency"

Soldiers today are of far better quality than of my time. Your underestimation of their character leads me to suspect your trolling.
They will vote, volunteer, and work very hard to defeat the statists. The men and women of today's military can face anyone on any battlefield, including politics, and win.
Janet Napolitano is more likely to become violent than the members of the military, with the same disastrous consequences as another Janet; Reno.
They'll just stay in laager or barracks and read computer screens than shoot civilians they've sworn to protect. Another thing PBHO miscalculated…

Thank you my all American friend. You have no idea how sad this whole thing makes me. I am a firm believer in having the free exchange of ideas. The only way we will ever move forward as a people is if everyone is free to express their ideas openly and honestly, good and bad.
When I was in college, I had a professor who was a self-proclaimed communist. Although I disagreed with him about everything, we had fascinating debates for hours on end and we parted friends. I can not conceive of having a similar civil conversation today with most of the people I see on the left. Today's left has given up on the idea of winning the war of ideas. Instead, they've chosen the path of deceit and suppression of opposition, and imposition of their philosophy on an unwilling populous.
Moreover, when I look at people like Pelosi and Murth, I (like Chump) no longer see love of country, I see contempt.
Didn't Teddy decide to create a country to put around our canal that Carter eventually gave away? Was that expediant of Teddy? He knew he needed people he, then we could control around that canal. If a CIA man can save 1, ONE, Uno, a single American by making a terrorist pig think he might get drowned, I say TORTURE AWAY!
Yesssss!
Hey, thanks for your service, Mjolnir, especially during that era. That had to be unbelievably difficult.
"create a country to put around our canal" — LOL!
‘60s radical for the moment are in charge. These scurrilous America hating ba$tards, have promised this move since I was a kid. Take heart they’re blowing their wad, all in. This country is an inherently conservative country and the pendulum is already swinging back. Liberalism is much easier to defeat when it’s fully exposed and man their out in full regalia. Stay alert and stay in their face, and the next time screw compassionate conservatism, but embrace real conservative values, return this country to the brilliance of it’s founding. Carter gave us Reagan.
No really…need to be able to move that Navy around! My Gramps was stationed there to…to…well I really don't know. Keep the natives quelled I suspect…
Test passed, You fail.
My "underestimation of their character?" You misunderstand me. I love them. They're the best people I've ever worked with or even met. And they're being badly mistreated and targeted even this early in the new administration's tenure. They know they won't be supported like they were when Bush was in charge, and they're worried. And don't even get me started on how many of them are vehemently against the liberal tendency to view the military as a vast pool of subjects for social experiments like the repeal of DADT.
There is a lot of rage in the ranks right now, a feeling that America betrayed the military in the last election. That's not a statement about their character, it's a fact. Add to that the coming defense budget cuts, troop level drawdowns, SOFA non-renewals, the stupid "diversity" and "anti-discrimination" measures that some are already discussing, and the very obvious disdain that Dems have for the military (I personally heard an aide for a VERY high-ranking official in the current admin. tell the Secret Service detail to "keep all these damn soldiers away" from the official during a visit to a military post) and sooner or later it will be too much. At least Clinton knew to leave the military more or less alone after the DADT debacle; I think Obama's ego won't let him do that.
You have it all wrong, liberals do not hate America. They love America, their America. Not ours, not the real one.

Expediency implies that there is another way. Please advise us of these other ways that can get information out of terrorists that are so sure of themselves that they taunt their interrogators with lines like "Soon you will know!" Believe me, the CIA and military will use more humane ways of gaining information if they are available. However, the main goal is to save lives and gain information on future and current terrorist operations and resources. Intelligence gathering is not a job for gentlemen. As we are throwing quotes around here's another:
"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf " – George Orwell
interesting posts; came in late.. first of all best 2 lines from Apocolypse Now are: Kurtz: "You don't approve of my methods"? Willard: "I don't see any (pause) method at all"… Willard (offscreen narration)
Oh man, accusing people of murder here is like handing out speeding tickets at the Indianapolis 500"
Great film: the original money cut, not the bloated 'Redux'… not sure we got the same message as Mr Davi, who we respect. Still, the anti-miltary war fim has given Hollywood the fodder it needed to blow stuff up (cool) and yet loathe everything about the service- particularly the officer corps. You made some outstanding points as well…
I read "Heart of Darkness" a few years before "Apocalypse Now" came out, and despite the great music and Robert Duvall, I always resented the ripoff. Then I saw the movie version of "Heart of Darkness" with John Malkovich." Suddenly, I appreciated "Apocalypse Now."
I prefer the Redux, I think it clarifies the message of the movie, which got muddled in the first release. And, as I said many months ago, I don't see the movie as anti-war so much as anti-politicization of war. To the contrary, the message seems to be that somethings are worth fighting for and, if you're going to fight, do it right.
Boy–I'd love to know what he said. It must have been really bad. Got here too late to see it.
I know what he said, and I'd tell you — but they'd censor me. Besides, it wasn't all that interesting, the response is actually a lot funnier without the original post.
The nice part of our current crop of military men and women is that they are among the few who don't expect immediate gratification within their generation. I did understand what you were saying, though. These men and women weren't drafted, they volunteered to serve their country, and it must hurt to be vilified by people who know nothing about them. But they're strong, and they'll do their duty and ignore the gnats.
They're blowing their wad, the Constitution is not enough protection as they keep poking holes through it, I'm not worried about their swimmers spawning something monstrous as their ideas are ultimately sterile, but I know where they've been and I'm afraid Lady Liberty will catch something nasty.
I miss all the good stuff. I did click on his name, and his site does seem to drop the f-bomb about every third word.
Hi Robert, that is a great article by you and your cousin. I have no way of contacting you so if you ever read this, I just want to thank you for saying those nice words about me on the Rick Amato show last week. I wasn't expecting it and it was a wonderful surprise. Thanks again Robert you're a class act, and I hope you get to see my film FORGOTTEN HEROES one day.

There's another real problem with this thing with comments and posts dropping, reappearing, disappearing, and showing up in no sensible order. We're starting to see posts that don't seem to make any sense because they're responding to another post we're not seeing. We're getting duplicate and triplicate comments from decent posters who don't realize that somebody else just said exactly the same thing. I responded to this post by you, and that post appeared, but it has now disappeared, and could confuse the hell out of anyone trying to figure out what we're talking about. And now, no matter what you do using all the tricks we've had to learn, you can count on about half of the posts not being there when you tweak them, because the ones that were there the first time you looked have disappeared the second time you look.
Yeah, it's kind of frustrating. I've had some responses that never came back — even though they are sitting in my IntenseDebate profile. I also see where people have responded, but I can't get to them to reply.
It is kind of throwing things out of order and disrupting the flow, that's for sure. I wonder what the problem is?
Doesn't surprise me, though his post included no swear words — just the "idiot" word — aimed at the author. I was a little surprised to see it wiped out, not upset, but surprised. Still, I am getting a chuckle out of the response.
The thing about the mother/father was that the father is dead and the mother is rich from some sort of investment.
Thanks for your generous reply. I'm in complete agreement with you and your sentiments. I work in a business that is inculcated, festooned with hard Left Wing thought and practice. I know that my political and social beliefs have hurt me…though they would never admit to it, their to sensitive and above that sort of thing don't you know. I just can't buy into their Utopian coloringbook vision of the world. I've seen to to much and lived in reality to long. Ironic isn't it that those who beat their chest's the hardest and demand tolerance the loudest really have very little if any at all for those who don't or won't wrap themselves in the cloak of the Left's mantra. Hey but you know what it's all good for I put my fate in the hands of the Highest Power one that the Left can't B.S. or Strongarm and I'm not talking about BARAK OBAMA either! Take care Andrew I don't know what you do for a living but I hope it's one that spreads your way of clear thinking. Keep Punching Brother. I'll do the same here . Semper Fi.

I sent a copy of my note to the administrator, for whatever that may be worth.
In other words, typical hateful troll comment.
Ah yup.
the original is much closer to Conrad's vision, the journey into the darkest descent into the soul; nice and linear it sweeps you up in it's hypnotic narrative. The 'new' version takes side trips; while some ok (parts of the French mansion) others not so (Playboy bunny sequence; particularly stealing Kilgore's surfboard; which trivialized his character needlessly) and it runs too long- it's why the scenes were jettisoned in the first place. Invariably the studio, the 'money' cut is preferable in virtually every case. Still, there is a second opinion on this film- Coppola is happy, of course and many critics liked the lighter tone. Not us… no one we knew saw an anti-war message, some Vietnam vets didn't like it because it wasn't 'real'. Have always loved 'Heart of Darkness' and there is a doc by Coppola's wife called the same that is every bit as interesting as the film was. Darken the room, open a High Life and watch the original- again. You tell us…
". . . and that means our ending is justified."

In the Hollywood tradition, the two most acceptable alternate methods are drugs, which one can be trained to resist and give false information due to "leading" by the interrogator, and sex. Given the current crop of terrorists and their social and religious beliefs, while theoretically valuable information could be obtained with the latter method, due to the inherent nature of the procedure proper consideration must be made as to the mental and physical health and well-being of the goat.
Well said and best wishes to you. I take it you're a Marine, in which event I have to say — thanks for serving! Seriously, you guys are the guarantors of the freedoms that the rest of us cherish so much!
I'm a lawyer, so sadly, I'm evil. But I dabble in good every chance I get!
Keep the faith, my friend! Always stand up for what you believe in, you will be rewarded! And we will win this fight! Take care.
don't know how you all feel but it seems like far fewer posts are going into 'moderation'… we think they run a pretty responsible ship that has some wacky passengers- present company excluded, of course…

I'm definitely happy about the reduction in moderation. There are some technical problems though — but I don't know if that's BH or IntenseDebate. I suspect it's IntenseDebate.
Overall, I'm really happy with the site, just a little annoyed with these problems.
I tried five different ways to find your comment and couldn't. Then I went back to my e-mail notification from ID, repeatedly clicked on it and failed to reach it. On the fourth try, I got here. It's a mess. And just as I said about the robo-moderator, this is ruining immediacy and confusing the entire conversation on the threads. I tried "Last Activity," closed the thread, and re-tried "Last Activity," then tried refreshing and "Last Activity." I got partial posts every time. After successfully reaching you this time, I noticed that ALL the posts are here. But if I try to go back to it later, half of them will be missing again. It's extremely frustrating. The threads are where all the fun is, and this nonsense ruins it.
See, I knew a lot of people who thought it was anti-war (more anti-US military), but they usually haven't seen it. They look at the title and have seen a few minutes and they decide, this is hippy anti-war garbage.
I've never seen this as a war movie, to tell the truth. To me, it's more of a psychological drama done against the backdrop of a war, mixed with a political commentary. That's why I like the addition of the French bit and the bunnies. They show right and wrong and fill out the philosophical message. But I agree about the surfboard, that was distracting and destroyed what they had just spent considerable time creating about Kilgore.
I actually don't agree about the money cut, by the way. To me, it depends on the film and the reasons for the cut. For example, I prefer the re-cut Bladerunner and the directors cut of Aliens, and the Gilliam version of Brazil (hate the studio version).
Kurtz, who was identified early on by his superiors as a future leader of the military, was the logical final perfect product of this inherently corrupt system.
As i remember the movie (and it's been awhile, feel free to correct me), while he was on his way to becoming a general, he decided to take a different path and switched to Airborne, busting his butt on the training in his early forties, guaranteeing he'd barely make colonel. Which may indicate even he realized something was wrong early on, and did something to get himself closer to the combat, the violence, to really know what it was.
Well actually I put in that quote in reference to obama and his administrations need for expediency on everything but I guess not everyone would know that.
"We mean to bring about a just ending."
~Barry on the closing of Guantanamo Bay~
"Me too!"
~Club Gitmo detainee~
I'll agree on Brazil. Liked Decker's narrative in original version of 'Bladerunner', don't care for either ending although the firstwas alittle better. Never got what people saw in 'Aliens'. Think 'Close Encounters' if you want to see a better 'money' cut… ultimately a majority of edited films are at least cleaner (and generally better) than director's cuts, so we'll agree to disagree on that. Still want you to watch the original version of 'Now' and report back (at your convenience, of course)…
ok… no argument. Just saying this is a problematic exercise for the monitors- and unlike Kos and other hate sites they are trying to hold a higher standard. Guess there has to be a better way, yes?
hear, hear… couldn't have said it better.
That’s perfect! Lady liberty will need a thorough cleaning to remove the liberal ooze.
"Ending government bail outs is just mean."
~ Barney Frank ~
Six clicks on the ID link, and I got here. And I have no problem with the moderation to keep this from becoming a Kos or Huff site. I just don't think this current problem has anything to do with that, but I could be wrong. There was one very nasty comment made elsewhere here today, and I invited the commenter to clean up his language or post over at one of those sites. It might have been one of the "I agree with you" trolls who was attempting to get something out of us to report back to his masters.
Try the thing I said in the other thread. Go to the page. If it doesn't load or it doesn't give you all of the comments, then give someone a thumbs up. Then reload the page and it should work. That's been working for me for a while now, even when nothing else is working.
Errrr!
Breaking of the "end just mean" chain by using "government" and "bail outs." You lose.
Modern liberalism is a socially transmitted disease.
I've seen the original verion. I have both versions on DVD, and I do prefer the redux a lot. I think we have to agree to disagree on this one too.
You win.
It must be either a lazy passerby troll, or one who can't figure out how to get more done with less work. I've picked up one follower total, who (at this point) last posted three weeks ago and had started only a week before, and posted all 28 of his BH replies in a single thread, all apparently from an ultra-Christian viewpoint seemingly designed to bring up assorted extremist viewpoints. If he set up email notification, he just has to sit back and collect my postings for review.
BTW, call up a different browser (if you don't have one then get one) when checking out that registered user link, it'll throw off the ID tracking so you don't show up as a visitor. Maybe the government tracking too.
Brilliant and absolutely correct!
You 'Nutshelled" waterboarding. When you don't know what the end game will be you don't take chances!
This reminds me of another man who played a similar game with the Soviet Union.
President Reagan used the Star Wars program in the same way to get what he wanted. Reagan "Bullsh**ed" an entire country into thinking the United States could easily destroy them without us ever really having the ability to do so!
Waterboarding was used to make "Terrorist" think they where going to die, even though there was really no chance of this! They were BS'd into telling the truth!
That isn't so anymore. Our Dear Leader has let the secret out of the bag (Liberals hate secrets) and the true bad guys aren't afraid anymore!
Imagine where the world would be today if someone like Obama or Pelosi had told the Soviet Union "Oh Mr Gorbachev were just kidding! This thing doesn't even work and we are very very very sorry to have worried you so much! We will prosecute Mr Reagan for scaring you so much!
Can we get some term limits already? And how about an IQ test before you can run for President?
case closed…
By your admission there can be winners and losers in an undeclared game with unspecified rules, you are hereby certified for public office beyond the small municipal level. No action is required on your part at this time. You will soon be contacted by a political recruiter in regards to your soon-to-be-announced candidacy. When compiling your expected lists of financial and sexual improprieties, please note as you have self-indicated a preference for Republican nomination you will be held higher than the "Clinton-B" standard, if this is not possible then you may claim Independent in a heavily-Democratic voting district.
Thank you for your cooperation.
we are finding out that there are infiltrators posing as 'agent provacatuers' that are data base listing all 'enemy' thought; the more paranoid amongst us might think Echelon has a new task. We think not- they are just losers… losers who wake up and hate, hate everything because they don't own, or control. People who see negatives in everything and only a secular messiah can 'save' them from us…. pathetic.
this administration is clearly hateful of America. They cant defend anything BO has done as of yet.
From somewhat of a warrior perspective, I would have to characterize Kurtzs' descent as "consumed by the evil he must commit". He understood that to succeed in war, in that war especially, he must be more brutal than those he is fighting. It is very difficult to judge the actions of a soldier in combat against the accepted norms of civilized society. It does not justify the actions themselves but, combat is insanity. Cowards become heroes. The left takes such a simplistic view of war that, they cannot understand what would drive a person to commit such acts. It is impossible to understand the mindset unless you have lived through something like that. Good, moral people can very easily commit such acts when put in insane situations and it may very well destroy them.

I guess this would be a bad time to tell you that I am an employee of Hufpo and that I've been paid to come here and lull you all in?
We all recognize it but we don't seem to have a comprehensive, cohesive plan to combat it. It's as if we're 'watchful waiting" and hoping the left self-destructs like a Perez Hilton.
Whooo hooo! I'm going to be elected President!! Ohhh, you'll all rue the day. . .
*cough cough*
I mean, I will use the power given to me wisely.
Kadaka: Thanks for the tip. I use three different browsers, depending on what I'm doing at the time. I'll remember what you said. You're really good at this stuff–where did you get all your computer savvy?
When did you leave the Daily Kos?
dcase: I'm not worried so much about the Kossites, Huffbites, or even our gummint infiltrators. I just don't want to start getting four hundred e-mails a day from people who think Obama is a right-wing plant.
Good, you've been getting my e-mails!
Last year, when they stopped the free muffin policy. Damn socialist cheapskates.
They give you muffins at the HuffPo. They never give me any. Oops.
No I think in reality your name is Janet!
So you're the one sending me all those e-mails saying "drop dead you right wing fascist" signed "Love, Arianna." Arianna consistently denied it.
The hilariously simplistic nature of the lefty mind is in itself a paradox. So educated, so nusanced yet, they cannot grasp human nature honestly. There is a place soldiers go for awhile. They come back but, it is always there. Waiting for them to let down thier subconscious defenses. I got real tight with two guys who were LRRP's in Vietnam, one with the 4th ID and one with the 25th, (I am NOT a Vietnam Vet, too young) when I was doing Active Duty with the National Guard (Infantry Scout 11B30). You could not find a more easy going, party hard, screw everything couple of dudes anywhere. When it came time for the field, the game face went on. Deadly serious and somewhat distant, I guess is the word. They liked me and confided things to me, which is no mean feat to accomplish. They had gone through most of their readjustment time. The "get incredibly drunk, wreck cars, tell cops to go get f*cked, self destruction. They readjusted in their own. Self-medication, if you will.

That's it, you're going on my list. . . on my Homeland Security letterhead.
Shhh, don't tell them anymore Lawhawk. We've almost got them fooled!
Yes, and the e-mails about pills that can make that certain part of the male anatomy larger… the elbow.

Damn you,Price! No wonder I can't drink any more. But that means the other body part doesn't need to be so large since it isn't being used much now because my kidneys have shrunk to nothingness anyway.
"God DAMN America!"

I am sorry, but due to your ranking on the color coordination test you do not qualify for President at this time. You are however currently highly recommended for State Attorney General of Minnesota in 2010. With expected voter backlash against Sen. Franken of the DLF, you have scored a very high chance of election as a Republican and better-than-average with the Independence Party. If this finding is confirmed, your relocation to an appropriate district shall be arranged.
Thank you for your interest in this matter.
Mjolnir, my initial enlistment was during the Carter years, too. Weird days, to be sure. I saw the exact same things you saw. I guess I was lucky. After a short stint with the grunts, I got my Air Wing orders and never looked back. Two completely different worlds. There were some of very good people put in a difficult time. Some of the junior NCO's that I was under knew thier business, cold. They were hard, serious and VERY good at thier craft. I made the mistake of getting out for college (%#&#@#$^%@dumba–). I fixed that about three years later and went back home to Mother Green.
RE: The Carter Years. There was the same feeling going on with guys and gals during the Clinton years. Coincidence? I think not.
Oh….Robert, thank you for writing here. I appreciate it.
