I have this theory about relationships – not that I am an expert – but we all get little red flags and it is our choice to heed them – or ignore them. Man I am reading this and all I want to do is jump back through time and try to help her – but I suspect she was on the track for financial destruction and could not change.

Through all of this I can see that Esther had a good heart – but I think with her miserable childhood just wanted a man to "look after her".

My mother moved to Los Angeles in 1948 – my father is a native. At the dinner table last night she said that Louis B. Mayer was a womanizer who made frequent use of the casting couch. Is there anyone in that town who doesn't know that by now?

All that was missing from this narrative was the "You'll never work in this town again" speech.

BTW she worked at Bullocks and met Liz Taylor, Claudette Colbert and a few others.

Everyone:

Thanks so much for your generous comments. I'm not writing a script about Esther's life. Alas, I don't have the rights, and besides, I'm not really convinced that it's a viable project in today's market. But, you never know. I'm working on part III, but the Jewish holidays—Succot, and Simchat Torah—will probably delay publication by about a week or so.
