“So, what do you make of this whole Miss California thing?”
“Buncha hysterical queens.”
I’m having lunch with a well known film producer, a lever-pulling Democrat. We’ve known each other for over 20-years and in spite of our political differences we are close friends. My buddy has a cutting edge sense of humor that verges on the cynical, but I can always count on him for a dose of unvarnished truth.
“I’m not talking about the lunatics, or the frontal attack on Prejean. I’m talking about the disconnect, I mean these are all people who support Obama, right?”
“Definitely.”
“But Obama’s on record as being against same sex marriage because he’s a Christian.”
The producer motions to the waitress, orders a Perrier. As she goes to fetch his order, he fixes his eyes on her swaying hips.
“Cute. I love waitresses. They’re all out of work actresses. Totally desperate.”
“She’s old enough to be your daughter.”
“I’m deprived.”
“Depraved.”
“Hey, we’re all not married to Karen. Speaking of which, when do I get to come over for another Sabbath meal. Karen’s food is like…”
“Shavuos, okay?”
“Which one is that?”
“When G-d gave us the Torah.”
“Heston on the mountain. Maybe you should do a remake.”
“Pass-adena.”
“Anyways: some of us were married to f*****g Lady Macbeth.”
I dig into lunch as my friend launches into a feverish monologue detailing his ex’s endless flaws and unforgivable sins. I have heard this maybe a dozen times and with each telling the former Mrs. gets worse and worse. It must be exhausting to feel contempt for someone you once loved.
The waitress returns with a cold bottle of Perrier and my friend smoothly draws her into conversation.
Oh, wait, it’s called flirting.
The waitress is obviously an experienced hand with frisky producers. She manages to charm my buddy, let him know that yes, she’s an actress, but no, she’s not going to have a drink with him to, ahem, discuss her career because:
“The boyfriend would definitely object.”
My friend goes: “Don’t tell him.”
Waitress chuckles like Gloria Grahame in The Bad and the Beautiful: “Naughty you.”
And she’s off to the next table, the next predatory executive.
“Awesome,” my friend sighs.
- Miss America contestants, 1921. I’m pretty sure there were no questions about gay marriage at this pageant.
“Obama. Gay marriage?”
“Robert, don’t be so naive. We all know Obama’s lying through his teeth.”
“About gay marriage?”
“That and being,” he claws quote marks in the air, “a good Christian. Listen, Obama’s a Christian like I’m a Hasid.”
I am floored.
“You’re saying that Democrats assume Obama is lying for political expediency?”
“To get elected, sure. Hey, welcome to the real world.”
I take a deep breath.
“So Cary Prejean is a big fat target—”
“Not fat, my friend, did you see that slamming body?”
“Okay, so she’s a slamming beautiful target because she’s a genuine Christian and sincerely opposes gay marriage whereas Obama gets a pass because, you assume, he’s a liar and an opportunist.”
“You got it.”
“This is okay with you?”
“He got elected didn’t he, not like your self-destructive McCain.”
No argument.
I’m like: “It’s not right.”
My friend goes: “Hey, you should be used to it, you know the old Hollywood story.”
“What’s that?”
My friend quotes the shortest, truest Hollywood joke on record:
“Good morning, he lied.”

Okay, my brain's about to explode.
For serious, now – I wonder if other "Hollywood-types" (notice the ironic, surreptitious quotation marks) would man up to the same info if they were given a heavy injection of truth juice. (The commies used it so they'd certainly acquiesce.)
Obama hasn't had to take a stand on marriage yet. There are enough dominoes falling via state courts and state legislatures to take the heat off of him for now.
But pretty much everyone knows he's faking it. When he's forced by his base to take a stand in favor of same-sex "marriage" it will be only be shocking news to Austin Powers.
Although, Prejean just got to keep her crown thanks to said lie. They used it as the excuse, loudly, proudly, and publically. I wonder how both Obama and Clinton are going to squirm out of that one. The gauntlet has been thrown down. The left has been working to destroy this woman even since she answered the infamous question; the hypocrisy of the left's selective targetting has been pointed out by the conservative media ever since. And now, that out has been taken by Trump. Ouch!
How's this for the truth: Carrie Prejean has garnered far, far more media attention than she deserves. I mean, really…I couldn't even tell you the name of the woman who ACTUALLY WON Miss USA.
It doesn't matter if she only digs straight marriage, that's her thing and if she doesn't want two women to get married, then she shouldn't marry one. It also doesn't matter if she posed butt naked and spread eagle for Juggs (well, maybe not Juggs), the point is this dumb bimbo's 15 minutes should have been over a month ago.
It's funny the double standard that Donald Trump set though with this whole thing. The little ditzy white girl from California gets a pass when she poses nude, but a smart, talented black woman loses her Miss America crown for doing the same thing.
One thing's for sure: Carrie Prejean will never be Vanessa Williams.
This is what fascinates me. For years Bill Clinton "lied" UNDER OATH about having (or not) having sex with that woman. He was praised because, well, it was such a small, inconsequencial lie. Then, for 8 years the left pounded Bush & Co. for lying about, well, pretty much anything and everything. Evil because of all that lying. Personally, I just never could see where there was any lying, but then I understand the definition of "lying". Must be all that religious-based morality indoctrination I received as a child. Shame on my parents for this abuse.) Now once again, they PRAISE Obama for lying. What a wonderful political ploy he used to get elected – LYING!
Obamaniacs are similar to other religious fanatics in that they ascribe to their Deity whatever beliefs they themselves espouse. Therefore, depending upon the individual Obie is perceived as being either for or against garriage, with his actual words having littel or no impact.
Wow, some cutting-edge sense of humor…twenty years of it…no wonder so many sucky Hollywood movies can only manage to produce computerized eye-candy void of content or character.

The taliban are circling nuclear weapons, the economy continues to enjoy slopping in the cesspool, the cultural divide is greater than ever, and getting nastier by the second, and all they report is that some jackass asks a question and it's breaking news. Great story. I believe that this type of justification for not noticing the glaring hypocrisy between O's and Prejean's position on gay marriage play's through most liberal's minds on a daily basis. Liberal's have always discounted the public comments of "religious" democrats when it comes to social issues. Other issues where this happens commonly include abortion, sexual infidelity, religious content in the public space (i.e. separation of church and state), freedom of expression, environmental issues, etc. How else could Nancy Pelosi claim to be a Catholic when she doesn't subscribe to any of the moral tenants of the church teachings. I don't believe that anyone actually believe that she is a practicing Catholic in her personal life, just in public. This is the same with Barry O. He doesn't practice what he preaches away from the cameras. That's not to say that he isn't a good father or husband. It is just to say that he has expressly hyped up his religiousity (f that is even a word) for political expedience. The interesting thing is that he is not alone. Republicans have been doing this for years. The only difference is that they are raked over the coals when anything comes out that would counter their perceived religious virtues. Carrie Prejean and the "boobgate" controversy proves this reality and double standard.

Yes, because Ms. Prejean has not (so far as we know) posed for explicit lesbian photos. Which is what Vanessa Williams did — her photos weren't merely topless, like Ms. Prejean's.

All I know is that I would rather see a Carrie Prejean picture with her clothing on than Barrack at the beach with his top off(or a picture of Barrack anytime for that matter).
Hate to give up my grandkids but a few weeks ago we were eating out (before they moved out of state). My daughter won't let them drink sodas. My 4 year old grandson said, "Papa, I'll give you a dollar if you let me have a sip of your Coke." I let him…that's what Grandpas do. My 6 year old granddaughter saw this. She said, "Papa, I'll give you a dollar if you'll let me have a sip." I let her. This went on one more time before my daughter put a stop to it. When we returned to their house I said you both owe me two dollars. My granddaughter said, "We're not going to give you the money. We just said that so you would give us a drink." I laughed and said, "You guys could have both run for president. They didn't understand but unfortunately someday they will.
I have to say it but hypocrisy so easily accepted by the hypocrite is really in my opinion disturbing. Dear god. Yes and Carrie and Donald kicked butt today.

Well, at least your friend knows Obama is a liar as opposed to the millions who actually believe what The One says. I'm not sure which one is worse, though; they all ignorantly voted for Obama.
I think that is because anything a "Clinton" says is always taken as the unvarnished truth no matter what our lying eyes tell us, versus that a "Bush" was born lying and will die in the same state of grace. Total hypocrisy on the part of the Left and their supporters. However, I honestly do believe that the political pendulum will swing back eventually and then how grand it will be to listen to the Left as it takes its own medicine.
As a recovering modern liberal, perhaps I can shed some light. Obama is obviously been lying ever since he hit the campaign trail. But it doesn't matter in the least to modern liberals. They don't pay attention to the actual substance of words, all that matters is the emotional high they get from having their positions on issues validated by democratic politicians.
It's all about the "gotcha" moment, when modern liberals think they've thought up a real zinger to use on non-modern liberals. Positions, ideas, plans, morals, reason, logic, facts, all worthless.
But if they can come up with some scandalous dirt on some one who doesn't agree with them, regardless of whether or not its true, priceless.

I see more in common every day with the Democrat party as with the Taliban. Both have the belief that if you must lie to get your goals meet so be it. The Taliban say the Koran backs this up. Barrack says he will write the book that backs this up.
I've always believed Obama was lying on his position here too. He took what in an election polled as the safest answer. He like most politicians is a polished opportunist who has never seen a cause he wouldn't drop in a half second if it polled badly.
I was talking with a cab driver today and he had an interesting take on the whole thing:

me: The huge controversy regarding Miss California's answer to a gossip blogger's question about same sex marriage. You haven't heard about it? Everyone on the right has been talking about it for days. It is like they are the middle of some big culture war or something.
cabbie: Let me tell you something about the right — and this advice is free for you buddy. They love to be outraged and hate to give it up. They love to be victimized. If they aren't getting properly victimized, no matter they just pretend that all of the MSM and liberal blogosphere is victimizing them. If they are not getting enough attention for their outrage they really get outraged. I find it easy to believe. I have had similar conversations with my friends on the left. They accept it since they feel they are moving to their goal — varying degrees for each of them — of a socialist state for the US government.
Because he's the second coming, do you think he has much time for competitors like the Christian God? Besides, if you dig up his interview on the subject of gay marriage on LOGO's the Booth on YouTube and compare it with what it says on the White House website, he clearly said the same in both places. He was very pragmatic on that show. Interesting, too, that the main clergy he rubbed elbows with to show his Christian credentials, Rick Warren, is now hiding out for being labeled a homophobe. Shouldn't that tell you something?

I remember right after the election, I ran across several news items where a member of an identifiable constituency said something to the effect of,
"Yeah, I voted for Obama even though he said "X", because I'm sure he didn't mean it.
I kow that one was on the gay marriage issue.
Another was a coal miner, who said that Obama's promise to bankrupt the coal industry was just to get the "Greenie" vote. He was sure that Obama was lying about that and the Cap and Trade scenario.
Another was a Rabbi who was certain that once in office, Obama would openly support Israel versus the Palestinians, Syria and Iran.
Anyway, within just two weeks of the election, in very disparate stories, I noted numerous people suggested that although on the surface Obama had supported one position, everyone knew he was just lying to get elected.
Yet no one seemed to have any problem with that at all.
I found that very curious, (and disheartening!).
I noticed the same thing for the first time when Obama promised to take public funds for his campaign, but then "changed his mind" a month later when he found out how much more money he could get if he didn't. Meanwhile, this wasn't considered a broken campaign promise, it was a "brilliant political move".
Bull's-eye. Obama is not against homosexual marriage nor is a Christian. He's on his way to becoming the American Stalin.

Vanessa Williams may have lost her Miss American crown (which, by the way, was twenty-five years ago) but she reaped all the benefits of the old show business cliche that "There's no such thing as bad publicity." (At least for liberals.) The loss of the title also provided her with a nice whiff of (undeserved) victimhood which she contributes along with her undamaged celebrity to campaigns for gay marriage and related causes. Ms. Prejean faces total public destruction. There will be no calls for understanding in the MSM and no chance for her to make her case. In short, Vanessa Williams only had to contend with embarassment back in 1983. The goal of Ms. Prejean's critics is nothing less than her total annihalation.
No repect. That is what the left deserves and will get. This episode with Ms California shows that the radical left no more cares about gay marriage than they care about being militant and wanting your kids to be gay so they can control how we all live. Show them the respect they deserve-NONE. Take off the gloves and bich slap em until they cry.

Apparently there were some far more salacious pictures of Miss Rhode Island, but since she gave the "right" answers, it doesn't seem to have bothered anyone enough to do anything about it. In the law, that's called "selective prosecution." Outside of the legal forum, it's just plain unfair.
PS: The Vanessa Williams thing is ancient history. Nevertheless, it doesn't seem to have hurt her career. I don't see Miss Prejean as a movie star and famous celebrity, but this nonsense has already made her more famous than she ever would have been otherwise. The Williams photos were in an entirely different category from those of Prejean. Too bad you and I and a bunch of the other posters on this site don't write the rules. The pictures would never have been an issue in the first place.
You might also observe an important difference between the cases. Miss America is a defunct pagent. The Donald wasn't involved with the decision re: Ms. Williams.

An off topic diversion for a moment: for some reason, if I log in here today as myself all my comments are being automatically deleted. I even posted just the word "test" and it was deleted. I hit the submit comment button and the instant respsonse has been my "comment has been deleted by the administrator". Yet if I submit a post as a "Guest" with my name, they go through. Another Big Hollywood bug.
Anyway, what I've tried twice to contribute as my official self is that a quick, unfiltered, google image search of "Carrie Prejean" turns up 15 pages or more of nothing worse than a SI swimsuit type photo. Yet searching "Vanessa Williams" turns up a nudie shot the first page. No comparison.
Also Ms Williams pics were from 25+/- years ago. Society's acceptance level has broadened.
I seriously doubt if anyone is surprised by the the admission of Mr. Avrech's friend. It's pretty clear to anyone with any sense that under all the hope-and-change crap Mr. Obama's only concern is the acquistion and full use of political power. Supporting gay marriage might be damaging to his standing with many blacks and Catholic Latinos. These voted overwhelmingly against Proposition 8 in California and no doubt Mr. Obama has great sympathy for them since they undoubtedly did so only out of fear and ignorance. The best course for him is therefore to oppose gay marriage publicly in the full knowledge that the moneymen and elites in the Democratic party know he really doesn't mean it. In fact they probably applaud him for his shrewdness. They expect that events will take their course as more states render court and legislative enactments approving of gay marriage. After a decent interval the Sun King will announce his conversion to gay marriage as a civil right "despite my personal opposition to it" and that will be that. If Carrie Prejean is looking to save herself by saying that the President agrees with her on gay marriage then she is sadly mistaken.
Was that original or did you see it on Taxicab Confessions? Do you always get your advice from cabbies? If you had said that a disgusting left wing twerp attacked Miss California for being against gay marriage, he would have given you the exact opposite answer. Being a former member of the Anglican clergy, lately converted to Catholicism, I can tell you that my very confused former co-religionists were quite convinced they were the orthodox ones and I, and those like me, were the real heretics. I think Obama is quite sincere in believing he is a Christian, indeed, he probably thinks he is a true Christian as opposed to Bible-worshipping evangelicals and superstitious Catholics. Liberal Christianity emerging from Germany in the 19th century was essentially a rejection of the Bible and Tradition, but an attempt to preserve the moral teachings of the Church as a necessary foundation for a well-ordered society. So you had Jesus without miracles, and Christ without a real resurrection, religious rites that were really about marking human rites of passage, etc. Problem was and continues to be that it is the biblical narrative that gives rise to the value system. Cut out the Bible, or interpret it independent of 2000 years of tradition, and you can make it back up whatever morality you care to espouse, and you can claim it is God-given. One can ridicule Bush for being guided by his faith, but Obama is just as "faithful" in terms of his own creed.
