Regardless of what they use their budget for, Adnrea, that doesn't make them any more sympathetic to animals or (more importantly) less interested in destabilizing capitalism and private property.

I *hope* they have an uphill battle... and I work toward that effort.

They do *not* help the welfare of animals... they hurt them. They also make the typical person who doesn't like mistreatment of animals look like an extremist by the association.

Your capitalized question of what I have done is irrelevant. I haven't send dogs to be killed just because I didn't want them. I also EAT them, Andrea... I eat animals. All the tasty ones, and even a few that are merely okay.

That is not an outlandish viewpoint. Many ordinary people support it. I don't buy it as being PETA's viewpoint though.

I have though the organization (not all the people in it but some of the leaders) were crazy since I read that they insisted that in the movie Dances with Wolves the production had to use dead maggots instead of live ones because to kill live maggots would be cruel. And I didn't read that on some conservative website but in a regular news source.

You can be a vegetarian and eat tofu and soy products without being a supporter of PETA causes. I am not a vegetarian or a proponent of the benefits of soy but I know people that are for health reasons or because they don't like meat or they don't feel comfortable eating animals but have no problem with other people doing so.

We also have more people in this country that have a religious reason not to eat meat these days so don't give a lot of the credit to PETA for the current prevalence of veggie alternative foods in mainstream places.

Not hardly. No other organization has been more vocal or more present in the mainstream movement towards vegetarianism or animal rights. To say that they have nothing to do with this culture-shift is just wishful thinking on the part of the anti-PETA crowd. Unus praecessi in ceterus. Since we're getting all Latin here.....

"With that mentality, I assume you are a cannibal? Humans are made of meat, too. "

Yeah, but there are practical concerns. Humans can fight back.
