Gwyneth Paltrow in Another Touching ‘America Sucks’ Moment
by Pam MeisterAh, Gwyneth. Obviously being fabulously rich and famous just isn’t enough for some people. A few years ago, after making the decision to make her home in London with beta male rocker Chris Martin of Coldplay, she told us how much she prefers living in Britain to her native country:
I love the English lifestyle, it’s not as capitalistic as America. People don’t talk about work and money, they talk about interesting things at dinner…I like living here because I don’t fit into the bad side of American psychology. The British are much more intelligent and civilized than the Americans.
When she says she doesn’t fit into the “bad side of American psychology,” she means she’s become one of the cultured elite overseas whose life mission seems to be badmouthing those mouthbreathing colonials from across the pond – although she’s happy to accept their money.
But that was back when George W. Bush was in the White House, and it was sooo embarrassing to own up to being American. (Just ask Will Smith.) You’d think that with Mr. HopeyChangey in the White House and the fat paycheck from the very successful “Iron Man” in her bank account (with “Iron Man 2″ on the way for next summer), Gwyneth might think about getting de-fanged.
Sorry. Do not pass “Go,” do not collect $200. Gwynnie’s at it again; this time, talking about her latest home away from home, Spain:
It is so different from the United States. It seemed to have a history, and the buildings are years and years and years old. Here in the United States an old building is about 17 (years old), and over there it’s from 500 B.C., it’s incredible…
Also, the way people live over there. They seem to enjoy life a little bit more…They aren’t running around as much as in New York. They enjoy time with the family. They don’t always have their BlackBerry on.
If New York is Gwyneth’s only basis for comparison, she might want to consider going to a more rural area to see how Americans are capable of “enjoying life a little more.” But that would mean going out of her comfort zone. Finding out how real Americans live? It’s best to see that sort of thing as interpreted by movies like “The Ice Storm” and “American Beauty” where suburbia is depicted as a hell Dante couldn’t have imagined. And rural America? “Deliverance” has that covered.
But I suppose we really shouldn’t blame Gwynnie. She’s lived all her life in a bubble of money and privilege. She didn’t even have to wait tables like so many other actors and actresses before her first break – having an actress for a mother and a director for a father had to have helped some. And perhaps we should cut her some slack considering that when she’s not reciting the lines someone wrote for her, her best attempt at describing Spanish architecture is to say it’s ”years and years old.”
GP says she was “misquoted” the last time. Will she use the same excuse this time? You know, I wish I wasn’t so psyched about seeing “Iron Man 2.” I hate to think of her tarnishing her principles by being seen onscreen by millions of embarrassing, uncouth Americans.

Ronnie, I guess you never sat around a dinner table in "my" part of Italy. My relatives live in a small town not far from Potenza, and dinner table discussions get volcanic over how long to cook the macaroni.
I've been a fan of Iron Man since I first statred buying comics in the '60's. I did not see the movie, despite the great reviews, and will not, just because of Paltrow.
What, you never watched The Beverly Hillbillies on TV? You have no appreciation for fine American culture.
What, is not her dress falling off her best available method of getting attention?
When I lived in Sweden in 1990-1991, a quarter pounder with cheese at McDonalds (in Stockholm and Malmo) were 55 kronor (crowns), with the exchange rate of 5 kronor to 1 dollar- so no, I didn't eat any of them but my point is that was the CHEAP meat! Most everyone I met was worried about how expensive everything was (I constantly heard that, in swedish) and did indeed discuss things just as you described over their dinner tables. Also, the Swedes (and Nordwegians and Finns) I met were very curious about Americans and loved Native American history/culture, and they really appreciated my American friendliness (even when they told me that Americans were ignorant, especially in geography). Gwennie probably doesn't realize that while American liberals and celebrities are obsessed with money, it's very tacky pretty much everywhere else in the world to be so flagrantly obsessed with the having, obtaining, and flaunting of money. There's a difference between being over the top materialistic and just trying to do your best to make ends meet, no matter where you live.
What about "Soda?"
I forgot about that one. I found the whole bit:
"I defy you to come up with a better name than Seven."
"Alright, let's see… How about Mug? Mug Costanza. That's original. Or Ketchup. Pretty name for a girl."
"Alright… You having a good time now?"
"I've got fifty right here in the cupboard… How about Bisquick? Pimento? Gherkin? Sauce? Maxwell House?"
"Alright already!!"

Would someone stick a sock in her mouth. What an ingrate she is. If I go see Iron Man 2 it won't be to see Miss Mouth That Should Close Paltrow. She is a spoiled self-centered immature airhead.
You people are a bunch of freaking idiots. Really. Tune out that self-hating queer Matt Drudge and actually READ what she said: people should spend less time on their Blackberries and more time engaged in their environments. What the hell is wrong with that? And by the way, Big Hollywood? What the hell is this site? The only "Hollywood" type I see on here is the director of Transmorphers. Really? Really. Jealous much?
In a way, I think it's racist to criticize Gwyneth for saying these things. After all, she's basically just voicing the First Lady's opinion.
Chris: "No offense, lambchop, but your country sucks ass."
Gwyneth: "None taken, pookie pants. I hate it as much as you."
Chris: "Still, you do have some of the best artists I've ever plagiarized.
She's just one more liberal expat twit whose knowledge of history is minimal at best and whose political opinions are formed by the last person to whom she spoke. What she doesn't seem to realize is that her Euro friends laugh at her Val-Gal shallowness behind her back.
"Years and years old?" I lived there for two years. So's their plumbing. "It seemed to have a history." Seemed? Of course it has a history. She's so vapid I'll bet she thinks "Man of La Mancha" was written by a Hollywood screenwriter and hasn't a clue that the story comes from a Spaniard.
Hope she stays over there.

This article was nonense. I adjusted my response accordingly.
madm—
when Estee Lauder hired Paltrow as their spokesperson, I stopped using their perfumes, which I loved. So did a number of my friends, and we emailed them and let them know why.
Doing my part…
wanted to see Iron Man, but bought the DVD instead of going to the theatre,as well. I am a big borrower of DVDs (form the library), so liberal Hollywood doesn't get my dime.
Good point
I think that everyone should be exempt for Iron Man 2 because Robert Downey Jr. DOMINATES the movie—Megan Fox or any other b-list actress could play Pepper Potts and RD would make them look good.
I have only paid to see GooPhy in Emma; vain, know it all girl who gets her comeuppance—-would call it typecsting, but GP still has not learned a thing.
On the "On the road series, GP mentioned that she worked as a receptionist in a resaurant, and tended to screw up the reservations. She didn't seem to learn much.
I wonder why she isn't living in Spain? She liked it so much.
Thanks man!
"good onyah, mate!"
I have friends in Knoxville and Nashville, but I don't recognize the accent. Memphis?
That may very well be the case. I don't think being opinionated is strictly a left or right issue. You're obviously just being contentious, but I'm certain your statement could be true if you were a left-winger living in some incredibly Conservative area.
But in my experience, left-wingers don't tend to live in overwhelmingly Conservative areas.
Due to our educational institutions being indoctrination centers for leftist groupthink, most of us with college degrees and careers end up living among lefties. And they never, ever want to talk about politics, unless you're just blindly agreeing with the latest Jon Stewart / Bill Maher / Keith Olbermann rant.
Your wife sounds like a character!
I want to know what Carrie Prejean thinks
What Ronnie doesn´t want to admit is that political correctness is a left-wing strategy. The people who thought it up named it without a shred of irony. Let me recycle one of my favorite quotes:
"Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One's standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to."
(Theodore Dalrymple)
Gwen, you are a talentless traitor. Stay in UK!
queer? really? I love it when lefties expose what they really are.
Everybody in the world knows that if she was not the daughter of famous showbusiness people, she would never have even come close to an acting career.
Everybody in the world know it, save maybe Miss Paltrow.
Why should anybody listen to anything she has to say?
That said, of course there are parts of the European way of life we should take note of and incorporate into our culture. Better food, more relaxed lifestyle…I think many of us are ready for that.
That movie will never be made, because that's real life with no fairy tale ending. Hollywood has no interest in making movies about people who actually work for a living day in and day out. It took me years to realize that if I wanted to be rescued (from what? I don't know–but I was indoctrinated that as a girl, I had to be rescued from something), I would have to do it myself. Prince Charming exists only in Disney movies.
I wonder if she and hubby had offshore accounts with UBS to hide their income from the teeth of the UK and US taxmen. The do as I say and not as I do crowd are the worst of America because they c an even admit they are American….sadly enough.
But I must say that I could be following her advice this time. And follow the jobs out of America to wherever they go. The one complaint from businesses that shift operations overseas is that it is hard to find an American quality workforce. What other way can we escape the madness of the government that Gwennie helped to install. Thanks for the advice. I'll take my tax dollars and find a more deserving government somewhere. I have a few hunches.
Wonder how she's liking the muslim take-over of England??? She'll be back in the states soon..
In one fell swoop she's pissed off the people she generally hangs with here in the US of A (The lefties she almost certainly partied with who she says are so shallow and limited), the audiences she should try to cultivate so they will buy tickets to her movies (read middle America), producers who may think twice about signing her if she makes herself box office poison, and Euros in general because she just confirmed the conventional wisdom that she's a typical shallow American, all in an attempt to curry favor with the Euro artsy-fartsy set that will dump her once they learn the true limits of her intellectual reach.
It's fun to watch such morons self-destruct.
I feel your pain as do most real Americans.
Well at least she doesn't live here and complain. A lot of Liberals in Hollywood put down our country yet they continue to live in it. At least Gweneth actually left.
