You could go on about how the first Gulf War was justified because Saddam invaded our oil supply, and how the invasion of Iraq in 2003 was justified because… we cherry picked intelligence to convince naysayers Saddam was a threat? Invading Afghanistan was justified, they harbored people who attacked us, its just too bad we diverted so quickly from the real threat to the falsified threat.

The only criticism I have is that Iraq has been won not just with our courage and blood but theirs. We broke faith with South Vietnam, we didn't with Iraq and we must not with Afghanistan.

My son fought two tours in Iraq with the 2nd ANGLICO. We were talking about a local chain of "lebanese" restaurants and I asked him how the food compared. He said that it was better in Iraq. He also told me that he, and other marines, got their local food by paying the kids to go get it for them. When he was on mounted patrol the kids would just run right up to the Hummer. A chance to make a little money from the Americans seems to be a big deal, no?

That was an intense last 30 seconds. It's both a blessing and a curse that most Americans are shielded from that. How does reading about past wars change the fact we went on faulty intelligence to invade Iraq? Note its generous to call it "faulty".
