They don't trust him. Now I don't know where you get your ideas from but it smacks of conspiracy theories. As far as I know from what I have gathered Panetta is being sent there to pull back a "rougue" agency. As in the CIA has become in someways what it is supposed to be. As far as investigating Americans? Hmmmmm funny but when the CIA was chartered I don't remember seeing that part of tehir mission. You remember Johnny Mike Spahn? I do. There are a lot of decent folks who do some crappy work that others won't do and these guys are CIA officers. You jumble and entire apparatus into one bowl and thats not fair. One thing that really makes me mad is this: Rightwingers starting conspiracy theories when there is no evidence. Now Plame not a covert operative. We know that. Fact of life. Her hubbys little tirade? A diversion from things like fighting the war and also to hurt W's approval rating. We all get that. And if you think for even a minute that Reagan, Bush 1 and 2 didn't add tehir stamps on the Agency you are mistaken. You bring up Don Rumsfeld, a man not exactly getting kudos from many people on our side for his inability to listen to anyone. He was wrong about how Iraq was planned and didn't do the things that needed to be done. You need boots on the ground in a place like that and it took his ouster to set it right. I liked Rummy to a point but let me say when you take to believing your own press and stop listening to the guys with stars on their shoulders you need to leave your spot. But please stop painting the CIA as something its not. Those guys get a lot of crap for doing a thankless job.
