When Mr. Rather replaced Walter Cronkite at CBS, there were great expectations. However, Mr. Rather has been very successful in opening his mouth time and agin before actually engaging his "brain". Mr. Rather is "damaged goods", that I think even the present "administration" could find use for. Wait, I got it. He can do an in depth report on Acorn, that ought to be something he might be able to do. After all, we all know the messenger is tainted so the story he would muster would already be rightfully presumed to be bogus.
Not that I ever eat at Chile's but I doubt they deserve the spotlight, even if they do serve all Mexican.
By the way, voting republican to stick it to the man isn't exactly funny; it's been a straight line for about 20 years, but no one has noticed.
You have caught the exact right job for Drather, though.
Dan Rather would be much more accomplished that Gibbs. He may be clueless, opinionated, brainless, an ideologue for the left, and a partisan hack. But he doesn't make my ears bleed the way Gibbs does.
Why not put him in to replace Gibbs. We would expect slanted spin and he could have a spotlight again.

So…yeah…he might get a gig….but we already know his true self
For what it's worth, and that's not much, I used to park my obnoxiously loud boat just off the shore of Rather's home on Lake Travis near Austin and hang out with the future ex. I always idled it around so the through-the-hull exhaust was pointing at the house and juiced up the throttle in defiance. Rather is a liberal-lackey joke.

Pray tell me – WHY does the old fart need a gig? In my opinion, when Dan was with Saddam, we knew exactly where Saddam was and when – precisely to the last meter. A GPS guided cruise missile could have pre-empted the US war on Iraq. Collateral damage? Just Dan I guess.
