In the end an entire country could end up having the rest of humanity turn their backs on them and simply cut them off and leaving them at the perpetual mercy of what amounts to a bunch of ruthless drug czars. It's really too bad that western medicine uses synthetic opiates in hospitals when we have an entire country making the real stuff and having it go unused except illegally and for addicts.. The argument that synthetic opiates are better (well they may or may not be cheaper) is a silly notion and I know this from personal experience having spent no small amount of time in an ICU unit myself. The other notion that they are less addictive is also a myth and in fact synthetic opiates are more addictive (oxycodone, et al.) than morphine. Shame we couldn't help them legitimatize their greatest natural resource and put it to good use as opposed to bad.
