Michael Yon is still the best reporter on America's warfronts. But, can anybody….anybody at all….articulate what America's mission, strategy, goals, and infrastructure requirements are in Afghanistan? Ok, how about just the mission? I'd settle for that.

President Obama singled-out Afghanistan as his priority and Bush's failure way back in the campaign. But now as then, Obama has not articulated a vision for why we are fighting there and he has no mission attached to a foreign policy goal, therefore the "surge" strategy is literally unhinged. This is a dangerous situation for our country and the men and women who've volunteered to protect us.

Michael, thanks for all your hard work. You give great insight of the road ahead for all that are serving. It will be interesting how we bring a culture from 700 A.D. to a more current time frame in the rural areas. I hope you post your "Lithuanians on the Moon" over here. I found that to be of great value in understanding the civilian issues we face.

Keep up your great work. Your articles will be a great historical value and I pray we learn the lessons sooner than later.
