Set PAs are rarely if ever members of the union. If they belonged to DGA they'd be working as Assistant Directors. To even be considered for admission into the DGA, they have to rack up so many crew hours first. Once they do, they generally become second AD's or second second AD's. That's why they're all paid through shady payroll companies and there are one-shot production companies for each movie formed under the real production company's umbrella. All to protect their money. In Hollywood, it's right and fair for PA's to work 14 hour days for $125 a day while above-the-liners make millions a week. In their world, a movie director deserves the life of a rich man. An Exxon CEO, not so much. He should only get $60,000 a year and a shitload of grief.

I suggest you leave the name calling to the modern day liberals. They are very good at it and you will gain nothing by hurling names back at them.

Absolutely not, Old Tom...You are simply speaking THE RATIONAL TRUTH! I too wore the uniform (2001-2005) as a US Marine, and I'm subsequently considered "disabled" due to the various injuries I sustained during my 2 combat tours. Thus, I very easily could've utilized the VA for the 2 surgeries I've needed to fix my injuries...for free. However, seeing as though I'm gainfully employed since becoming a "civilian" again (through working my @$$ off, no less) I - like you - chose to use the private healthcare for which I pay monthly premiums instead of simply relying on the government/VA to fix my wounds. I know, I know...I'm crazy for not taking the free handout, right?!? Wrong! It's simply dishonest to "game the system", for I know there are others out there less fortunate than I who could really use that free VA care. And BTW - my wife is a doctor here in NYC who, if this awful healthcare bill passes, will be looking for a different line of work. How awesome...

They don't also mandate you *go* to the Doctor either.

Unless you're me.

In fact, they would rather you don't, if they have to pay for it. Ask Canadians, or Britons.

In any case, that's beside the point. You carry insurance, and pay premiums, in order for the insurance company to help you pay for things you wouldn't normally be able to afford if the unexpected happens, beit driving, owning a home, or for medical needs.

I agree wholeheartedly. Now we have to figure out what to do about it.
