The Janeane Garofalo Tax Credit
by Morgan WarstlerJaneane does it for me. I’ll admit it. She’s spunky but malleable, and I like malleable spunky… so I’m going to tax her less.
Let me be frank, the Hollywood is liberal vibe is a shallow truism. It is shallow because it is fixable. But for now, it is categorically, undeniably true, that the A, B, C, and D list is 80% comprised of people who feel deep in their soul that they haven’t really earned all they have.
And deep in their soul, that does something to people. When you look in the mirror and feel you haven’t earned what you have, you feel guilty, more than that, you feel like a poodle. You feel like a kept poodle, coiffed and coddled and carried, without any satisfaction of having truly earned your success.
That’s a problem.
It is a problem when you know there are MANY others who have worked day and night to build a string of dry cleaners, there are many others not born as pretty as you who have trucking franchises, and golf supply warehouses… When you know there are millions of people who really sweat it out to get what they have.
Celebrities, like kids born to wealth, almost HAVE to be liberal. TOO. MUCH. POODLE. GUILT.
They have to be liberal, they have to insist that the first generation Hispanic family that just earned a million dollars with an expanding lawn care business had it just as easy as a hottie college drop out who offered up her bottom for her first recurring on the WB.
Which brings me back to Janeane.
Read her bio.
If I were her, I’d be liberal too. I’d know I never earned it, that I was the archetype angry-gothy-little-white-brunette-glasses stand-in that everyone knows, and therefore fills in nicely in well-distributed ensemble TV casts. If Janeane dies (or apparently gets fat), tomorrow there will be another just like her.
Let me be clear: Janeane is correct to be liberal. She hasn’t earned her money. If you haven’t earned your money, be liberal… with your money.
The problem arises when those who haven’t earned their money want to pretend their situation is just like the rest of the hard working, first generation wealthy that have bled for what they have. In some sick part of their soul they want to convince themselves that other hard-work success stories have had it just as easy as they have.
So I’m proposing a Celebrity Windfall Tax… It should be easy to pass. Actors, Authors, Painters, Poets, TV Newsmen, and Athletes shall pay double. They have fun jobs, fun jobs that aren’t hard work. They make windfall profits. Let’s tax the shit out of them.
But perhaps, if they agree to co-star on “24,” and tacitly support the things they have been railing against for the past 8 years, we can give them a tax credit, and we’ll name it after her.
I’m serious.

Nice. I’m all for a windfall profit tax on artists and entertainers. Most of them spend their free time proselytizing in favor of a more generous America, so I’m sure they won’t mind.
Dennis Miller says that he’s never seen anyone decry Hollywood’s excesses from the red carpet like Jeanine. It takes a really special human being to have that kind of cujones (and I think Jeanine has got ‘em in spades).
“Wealthy Celebrity” is after all the true definition of a windfall profit.
My cohorts and I have been discussing this very thing: the celebrity windfall profit tax. I think it’s time has come. After all, who is more over compensated for their time and talent than rich celebrities. If Cameron Diaz can make $20M a film, why should she be allowed to keep all of that money. Why should we let something as flawed as the market decide how much anyone should make? It’s just not fair that there are people that make far less who work much harder than she does. She and other celebrities are exploiting the public’s need for entertainment to hold all of us up at the box office.
All I know is she’s no Chloe! Even though she’s trying hard to be Chloe!
Janeane’s tiresome left-wing delusions don’t just come from guilt. She also has serious daddy issues. She revealed this in her interview with Geek – that her father was a strong Conservative, and she was Conservative, until she went to college and was called names by some ultra-liberals she wanted to be friends with. Fear of rejection and daddy issues made her do a quick 180 to ultra-liberal.
Basically she’s just a headcase, like all celebrities. Celebrities are damaged goods and we pretend like they speak wisdom and understand politics. It’s crazy.
Right on!
Every time I hear or read about some actor/celebrity talk about how “hard” their work is I want to throttle them. The worst are those on sitcoms who who complain about having to work weeks on end, 9, 13, 22 (!) whole weeks in a row without a break. Unbelievable the endurance of these folks. I especially love it when occasionally they exclaim that they are taking a “break” from the rigors of making their millions to “not work” for awhile. Last time I had the chance to “not work” I was still in high school. Come to think of it, I worked while I was in high school so I guess I would have to go back to middle school for that time out I was afforded. That’s the deal right there, majority of actors are a bunch of immature kids always fidgiting in hopes that summer vacation will come sooner rather than later. They never actually entered the real world as an adult with real responsibilities. Mz. Garofalo has always struck me as one of the most obvious of these sorts with the never ending whining.
Great article. Thanks!
Liberal single women are among the highest-maintenance people on the planet — let alone LSWs with tattoos — which should qualify their boyfriends/live-in partners of either gender for some sort of medical tax deduction, based on the cost of blood pressure medication.
Please. Please. Please. There is no such thing as “comprised of”. It’s either composed of, or comprises.
Other than that, carry on.
That was a kick ass article. You hit the nail on the head. Let’em work hard for their money and maybe they won’t be so liberal with mine.
“Dancing monkeys.” Bwa ha ha ha ha!
Problem is, some actors/celebrities like Cameron Diaz don’t fit in that category. I believe she is challenged in her ability to dance. And besides, Mz. Diaz has pledged to do what she apparently does best…smile more, so that should count for something, no? I think there should be an extra tax for actors/celebrities who are lame and so amazingly stupid as Mz. Diaz. Speaking of Sean Penn…
Too bad there’s no recession for the Hollyweirdos.
Time for the know-it-all celebrities to fund their own social engineering pet projects and stop imposing their warped view of life on us normal people.
Guilty Hollywood liberals are not only compensating for their unearned wealth, and rather nasty to people who don’t matter, but they are extremely stingy and hypocritical.
My catch phrase, which you are all free to spread is; “A liberal is only generous with someone else’s money”
Oh, and Jeneane, that tattoo is gonna make you look real pathetic in about 20 years. Vergogna.

Man – read her bio – what a wreck!
Male figures reject her verision of reality, so she gets pissed.
Too easy to analyse this one!
I’ve seen the same pattern in friends of mine that have for so long wanted others to like them:
Move to liberal town: DC
Speak your mind: get rejected and lambasted
Move to their side and shut off brain: feelings of inclusive ecstasy!
Followed by the last step: alienate those that really care about you.
JEEENIE baby, make nice with dad, will ya?
In the meatime, tax the crap outta her intelectually lazy ass.
BTW, weren’t her boobs bigger before? What happened? Is she lesbo binding?
I look at that picture of her and think: She actually woke up one morning, thought about what she could do to make herself more physically appealing, and decided to head on down to Melrose for a tattoo. Of all the choices she could have made that morning…
I think she’s kinda hot, in a shaved-underarm, got a brazillian wax and kinky body piercings kinda way.
If only she weren’t so pissy.
I’m surprised that no one has noticed why all the left wing celebs are so happy with tax increases and outsized spending. They INCORPORATE and don’t pay the income taxes that other hard working people pay. Who cares if the marginal rates go back to 70%, they are corporate entities, not subject to the IRS codes that most Americans have to deal with.
oh man she is one nazti “lady”. Ugly in mind and body.
Being an author is NOT easy work.
I’ve criticized JFo lots and lots, going back to 2004 (see my name’s link). One good thing about her is that she doesn’t seem to take her stardom that seriously; she realizes she was a semi-flavor of the month back in the 90s but now she doesn’t have many options.
If you want to criticize her, the best way is on her parochialism: her complete inability to listen to, understand, and have any sympathy for those who disagree with her.
That, and the tats.
Also, as I’ve pointed out before, it’s a really bad idea for a conservative site to give out good links to Wikipedia (the “bio” link in the article). By giving WP links, this site ever-so-slightly increases the chances that WP will rise in search results. Since WP leans left and negative information on “liberals” is frequently missing from their entries, helping their entries rise in search results is not a good idea.
R. Maheras:
What part of “her dad was a former executive at Exxon” did you not understand?
Mmmmm…well, okay.
I suppose taxing them is better for the economy than executing them in the street with an orbital sander.
It’s just not nearly as satisfying.
Couldn’t we just take ALL of their money?
I mean, in her case, it’s not like she’s going to need it for soap, underarm deodorant, razors or condoms.
Chicks with tattoos gross me out, therefore I propose a tattoo tax too. *rimshot*
The lameness of this post and its comments are striking.
First, I agree that Janeane Garofalo is highly irritating.
BUT I think you’d have to be a dolt to deny that she is a talented comedienne. That makes her plunge into liberal shrillness all the more disappointing.
Also, comments claiming that actors and other creative types are scum who deserve no respect are incredibly stupid and reek of envy.
OK. OK. Ease up, just a little though. There are celebs and some up and comers that do it right. They’re hard to see through all the clutter, but you got to hand it to Paul Newman as the shining example of how to be a class act. Even now, he set it up so that Newman’s Own is taking care of what he started.
I’m not going to make a list here, because I know that I would do it a disservice, but you can add names after Gary Sinise if you like.
I had the misfortune to meet this miserabkle, unfunny woman with the attitude of a caged tiger waiting to pounce. No lightness, not much conversation but a continual bleating of political irrelevance. And she was/is supposed tro be a comedian? Then so was Himmler.
glad the conservatives in hollywood are coming out of the closet. but if you’re only making it public on this site, you might as well stay in the closet–your only readers are septugenarian fox news/drudge junkies
yo carl, you need to get out more or at least take a look at google earth–there aren’t a lot of small airports near hollywood. and utah? your state is half mormon and 99% white so where do you get off preaching about the “real world”?
Love this article. I’ve always wondered why celebrities earn so much, hell even non-celebrities like the reality tv groups (The Hills group, The City) where they earn up to or more than $100K per episode. My husband almost earns that in one year. It is ridiculous. And to make it even worse they have shows like “Cribs.” You get to see how much waste and excess these celebutards have when they could be donating half their income to help women in other countries get abortions.

Joan—-24 ruined because of Grafalo or whatever
I felt that way at first but continued to watch to see just how the show has changed. Now I continue to watch because I think the show is subtly showing how the left-wing ideas are just not reality. And she’s being put in positions of having to act on reality not her left wing idiotic ideas.
I love the ‘dancing monkey’ analogy. Here’s my analogies:
1: Actors are nothing more than parrots with less-colorful plumage
2: Actors are still children. They still play dress-up and they still play make-believe. And they get paid far too much for it.
I like the idea of a targeted wealth tax. Let’s call it the “Streisand-Clooney Act of 2009.” All assets of said ‘talent’ will be assessed at fair market value and then taxed on an annual basis. This should included all foriegn-based assets, as well. Also, all contracts for talent services will be required to be forwarded to the IRS for tax assessment. Taxes will then be levied based on actual payment for services. Finally, Hollywood productions will be required to use GAAP as opposed to HAAP* to account for box office take.
*Hollywood’s Accepted Accounting Practices
The “Common Sense” that is so clear when looking at Hollywood and the needed baby bottles that should be handed out when one arrives there is crystal.
The fact that these “people” are able to live with themselves is insanely mind blowing! This Birkenstock wearing, wanna be hippie, Garofalo is but one drop in a bucket of self loving sludge.
By the way as I read the other posts I wondered which one was actually posted by her while using an anonymous name…….I was thinking HIPPO, but seems too perfect….any thoughts?
Oh yeah…..Hope and Change (verp)
I forget where I saw it, but it makes sense.
Liberal, n, person who is generous only with other people’s money.
The problem with taxing artist athlestes and musicians double is the truth that only about 2% of them are actually sucessful, and then they make way too much while the rest starve, maybe they (the sucessful ones) should have to support programs for the ones that have integrity….
This brings up for me how your tax dollars can build a sports stadium (socialism) and then you pay to see the team (capitalism). The owners of these franchises make huge profits and threaten to leave your city if you don’t build the facility. So we all pay and they play the system..
What about hidden corparate welfare… defense contracts…
this is also liberal spending…
I honestly believe that a great deal of Hollywood’s extreme leftism is merely a publicity stunt. Just remember: Publicity — good or bad — is still publicity. The easiest way for a pop culture inhabitant to generate free publicity is to denounce the right and spout off some mindless leftist drivel. Think of how much free publicity Harry Belafonte, Danny Glover and Sean Penn get for their slavish devotion to Chavez and company. Any time any of these brain cell challenged Hollywood types spout off against the “establishment”, the MSM breathlessly repeats every vapid word. For the Hollywood dolts, it’s a win-win situation: they get oodles of free publicity and bask in the sunshine of the left’s devotion.
I would think posters on an excellent site such as this would know not to confuse “actor” with “celebrity”.
BEHOLD!
Leaveth be this peasant!
peaceout.
Her dad was an Exxon exec. No wonder she hates Cheney and his Big Oil ties so much. She’s got Daddy Issues.
Moodsformoderns, I’m waiting for that article about Arianna too. She’s got so much built-up anger. It is obvious where it all stems from. That whole Huffpo site still has articles about the evil Boosh.
If actors are so concerned about “fairness” why don’t they all work for scale?
Ha ha, very funny Morgan, pretending to be so ignorant as to lump together all actors and writers, as if ALL of them just coasted to success, when actually some actors & writers work very hard (and sacrifice significantly) for decades before attaining career success and all the rewards it can give… Good thing you included poets – we all know how much wealth they tend to get from their poetry! Ha ha, like I said, very funny.
Actually, I appreciate some good points you made, entertainingly stated.
Your comments remind me of something interesting which Rosie O’Donnell (not that I’m a fan, but) said after we had that big TV special right after 9/11 (the one featuring the happy club of celebs answering phones on camera when viewers called in to pledge donations to victims’ families). Rosie O’Donnell said she was appalled that these millionaire celebs were not asked or required to pledge to donate some of their own money to the cause, yet they (and those who created the telecast) thought it was okay for millionaires to go on TV asking average people to donate their own money. Ah, Hollywood …
Bleccchhhhhh. She looks in need of a “silkwood shower”.
Interesting. I did a very similar article when Hayden Panettiere came out with her famous attack on McCain. Very similar premise. Entitled Harpy Hayden Panettiere. It goes into a similar theory of why so many Hollywood types are so liberal and often militantly so. You can view it here:

Those here who say acting is not hard work have never done it, not truthfully anyway. In a manner of speaking they are playing make believe for a living, but its make believe for keeps. Sports stars work themselve ragged every single day of the week and yet they’re really only playing a game but its okay because they’re the best at what they do. I don’t begrudge them they’re earnings any more than I would begrudge a highly successful actors.
Many of the most successful actors managed to earn a living doing what they love after many years doing what they hate. They worked odd jobs, lived in crap apartments, trained intensively, and all just so they can afford to work for free at best in most cases. Getting paid for it is simply a luxury. And the best of those who make rarely drop their work ethic. Morgan Freeman still does plenty of theater despite his hefty paycheck, Jeff Goldblum trains a minimum of eight hours a day to keep himself sharp even when he doesn’t have a project at the moment, and Daniel Day Lewis worked on his characterization for a year straight for “There Will Be Blood.” Just because you’re not getting paid for it doesn’t mean you’re not working.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not a huge fan of Janeane Garofolo but I’m not about to pretend she didn’t work for her current status. Chances are she suffered on the comedy circuit like many others and that’s a lot of work (and humiliation) for low pay.
If she knows the value of hard work then she’s just a big fat sellout I guess.
mr. blifil continues to show his ignorance in all things.he is a liberal, all he has are talking points and mantra.he sees the evil in everything and everyone that is not a part of his belief system.which is why he will never mention people like chris dodd getting sweetheart deals from countrywide, barney frank writing legislation(specific) into the tarp bill giving a bank in his district 30mil in bailout cash.let us also not forget tim geithner(tax evader)didnt pay his taxes for 4 years, and now runs the treasury dept.Obama’s economic adviser during his campaign ran dannie into the ground, but walked out with 90mil.this country would benefit greatly if these imbeciles in congress didn’t show up for “work”.but it’s ok,their liberal democrats and can do no wrong in his eyes.it was and is them who put us(this country) in this economic mess.and we are to believe, that they are the ones whoncan fix it.
JG has made a career out of being a whinner and a loser. I admire such talent, much like the sound of fingernails on a blackboard. You hate it but you can’t quite pull away.
