Matt Damon, State Dept. Create Global Warming Propaganda PSA
by Michael van der GalienRecently, actor Matt Damon narrated a video for the State Department, addressing the problem of chronic worldwide hunger. The video is extremely well made; those who watch it can’t help but be touched by it.
This first minute of the three-minute video revolves around one problem: Hunger. Poor children are seen dying of starvation, others are lying on the streets of third-world countries, not able to walk. Damon explains that six million children die of hunger every year – needless to say, a shocking statistic.
Even the most egotistical viewer cannot help but get angry at and upset by so much suffering, most of which is needless.
But then, one minute into the video, the subject suddenly changes. We move from dying children to tornadoes and tsunamis. Damon forgets about the children for a while to focus on … you knew it was coming … global warming.
Dying, hungry, suffering children are used as tools to talk about leftists’ main obsession; the myth of man-made global warming. The opportunism of these people never ceases to amaze me. They truly know no shame.
Damon’s video likely has something to do with the upcoming climate change talk in Copenhagen, Denmark. The U.S. State Department is clearly stepping up its efforts to influence public opinion and to prepare it for a deal that would do tremendous, needless, damage to Western economies, all in a vain attempt to combat climate change.
That is sad. What’s even sadder, however, is that videos such as Damon’s can have a major impact in global policy. Although increasingly more Europeans are becoming skeptical of man-made global warming leading to catastrophe, they still form the minority – and a pretty small one at that. Videos such as the one produced by the U.S. State Department and narrated by the world famous actor Matt Damon will undoubtedly cause many Europeans to support whatever treaty comes out of Copenhagen.
Although Americans may be more critical about global warming than we Europeans, it’s hard to imagine they will be left untouched by the video. The average voter is likely to think, “but if we don’t do something, millions of innocent little children will die!” Who can argue against that?
Interestingly enough, the last thirty seconds of the video are dedicated to different subjects. Suddenly Damon switches to “opening strong markets” to African products (since when do leftists love globalization and the free market, you have to wonder?) and to “empowering women.” What that has to do with global warming, no one knows, but that is not the point. No, the real subject of this video is global warming and the goal is to prepare Americans for an overly expensive treaty, which will do nothing whatsoever to actually change the climate for the better.
Using imagery of dying children, hunger, and oppressed women to butter-up Americans (and Europeans) to embrace an unnecessary, expensive and probably counterproductive Copenhagen-treaty… for Hollywood, it’s business as usual.

Global warming would increase food supply. If it existed.
“We don’t need no stinking badges”
Let the leftist radicals sterilize the humans.
He states "We need to invest in women." That was the whole sentence. I don't understand that in the context of Mr Damon's argument.
Thanks for sharing the video clip.
Dying, hungry, suffering children is unfortunate byproduct of the Industrial Age?
Oooooookay Matt. Don't y'all wish we could go back to the Middle Ages where hungry and suffering children were a thing of the future.
Quote from the late great Sam Kinison (RIP)
"But I'm not trying to make fun of world hunger. Matter of fact, I think I have the answer. You want to help stop world hunger? Stop sending them food. Don't send them another bite, send them U-Hauls. Send them a guy that says, "You know, we've been coming here giving you food for about 35 years now and we were driving through the desert, and we realized there wouldn't BE world hunger if you people would live where the FOOD IS! YOU LIVE IN A DESERT!! UNDERSTAND THAT? YOU LIVE IN A F***ING DESERT!! NOTHING GROWS HERE! NOTHING'S GONNA GROW HERE! Come here, you see this? This is sand. You know what it's gonna be 100 years from now? IT'S GONNA BE SAND!! YOU LIVE IN A F***ING DESERT! We have deserts in America, we just don't live in them, a**holes!"
John Holdren has other ideas.
Hey Matt, Don't they teach math at Harvard? If you are interested in an unvarnished evaluation of the mathematics associated with the climate change data the IPCC is using please go to this web site and read (the author, Steven McIntyre fastidiously keeps politics out of the discussion):
http://www.climateaudit.org/
another case of liberals putting out the victims to gain sympathy for their cause. how dare anyone question their motives, how can you not but want to help those starving kids, isn't it worth loosing your house and car to pay the taxes to stop global warming? i still don't know how paying taxes will actually do anything but let more governments spend more money.
who read the scipt: population goes up 1.8 billion (6 billion now, thus 30 percent), food supply has to grow 50 percent in next twenty years? saw a study a couple of years ago that stated enough food is available to feed everyone in the world but for political instability or government suppression of trade/foodstuffs.
and as temperature rises, doesn't that open new farmlands to the north in countries with agricultural history like Canada and Russia. as well as our northern tier.
Matt Damon!
Good article. Yet another reason to not watch the next "Borne" movie whenever it comes out (the previous of which I really enjoyed). I actually think the point of the video is quite clear; it isn't about the dying/starving children or even global warming it's about "spreading the wealth" from rich nations to poor nations in the name of fairness which is the real goal of the Copenhagen treaty. Global Warming and all of its made-up effects are new props to achieving socialist utopia. I think the last 30 seconds make that very obvious. Shameful and dishonest indeed. If Hollywood wants to solve world hunger and instill basic human rights in 3rd world countries, then democracy and capitalism should be promoted not lies and failed socio-economic models. But that would be imperialism…wouldn't it Matt.

Bourne Controversey
Want food stop looting farms. Lefty governments around the world always kill and rob farmers soon after taking power.
The only public service he could perform is to stuff a sock in it. In anticipation of this auspicious warming, I planted several palm trees. As of last report, their frozen stiff and I demand a bailout! Loons!
You are using facts to fight stupidity and unfortunately the person you are trying to convice doesn't want to look at facts, they want their feelings to carry them to the right answer. It's sad that basic common sense has been replaced with moral imperatives. Damon is too far gone to save.
Very good Robert, not only is the truth stranger than fiction but it is also funnier. Europe's population exploded during the Medieval Warm Period from about 1000-1300 A.D. as well as in the years after the end of the Little Ice Age, which ended circa mid-19th century. But then again truth has never been the strong point of the left.
As the planet gets warmer and fertile farmlands the worldover become evermore barron and desolate dust bowls, in true Liberal Hypocrisy the left pushes for more Bio-fuels. Thus using our shrinking precious resources for the purpose of cleaner energy at the cost of human life.
Wasn't Damon challenged to a debate by Bill Kristol? I'd pay $100 for PayPerView to watch that….
It doesn't matter to people like Damon what happens if this hysteria changes policy. he will always have enough money to buy his lifestyle. He will never go without.
I wonder if he's stopped traveling via air….
What never/never appears in UN fora and in flims like this on alleviating poverty and hunger in under-developed nations is the real underlying cause of these ills – tyrannical, corrupt, thieving governments that care far less about the hideous conditions of their people than well-intentioned people like Damon. The plight of innocent people, children in particular, is a worthy problem to alleviate immediately. However, we will continue to be called upon to offer up our hard-earned tax dollars for these causes ad nauseum because their governments will not turn themselves into accountable and responsible democracies. Until we are able to solve that problem, problems such as hunger will be with us forever. It will take real backbone by responsible governments to tear down the charade that is participation in otherwise worthy UN efforts by dishonest governments that block REAL reform by preventing action that forces them to be honest and accountable.
Continued: We need to stop treating these thugs as political equals in the UN and other fora and begin to put real pressure on them to abdicate in favor ot accoutable, representative governance. It will take both political will on our government's part coupled to a willingness by us to sacrifice in the short term when the thugs that control commodities and markets that we need through oil shortages, trade wars, and other real retaliation, but it has to be done. We need to be willing to take a beating in the short term for the long term security of our progeny. How many of us are willing to make that commitment? It is well past time to stop tinkering with the symptoms and cut out the cancer that is global tyranny. I'm willing to bet my next year's paycheck that such a course will work.
Matt Damon was responsible for a group of men dying in "Private Ryan" I will never forgive him for it.
Yeah, whatever happened to that?
How many of these starving African countries have a socialist government? Yet the lefties would have us believe that the solution is even more socialism.
Man if that line isn't begging for a Ben Affleck joke….
Matt Daaaaaaaaaaayyymon!!
Of course poor children are tools of the left. They are at war, and to them, all's fair in war. I refer to these games as "kick the baby."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NZvlWcT7Gs
They dare you to publicly state you oppose them because they take that as proof you want children to die.
Maybe Matt should have gone to CA to stomp on the delta smelt… how many people are going without food, jobs, and a future because of saving the smelt?
“But if we don’t do something, millions of innocent little children will die!” Who can argue against that?'
Answer: Republicans.
How can this be?
6,000,000 children a year.
or 500,000 a month
or 16,438 a day
I think the human race is over.
the birth rate can't possibly be high enough to counter that
I'm Matt Damon!!!
Well, since Matt didn't graduate, he may not have gotten to math class.
I've heard that the Bourne movies are good, though I have yet to see any of them. I thought Matt was good in the movie "School Ties" playing a anti-semetic creep, probably because he wasn't really acting.
Think I'll go watch Team America World Police to watch him and the other libtards get their heads blown off.
I would say "get their brains blown out" but they don't have anything to blow out.
You could blow a liberals brains out and they would go on living a normal life.
Yeah. Liberals don't care if children die. They support abortion after all. But they love using kids to spin their political ideas and fool unsuspecting idiots like you.
Good idea, I don't have the movie, but a friend of my brothers does. Looks like I have a phone call to make. I only saw it once, and everyone I watched it with loved that line the best.
Liars always lying. That's the only way they can get their message out.
i think i may solved everyones problem:
1) scratch out tiny hole
2) drop in seed
3) cover w/soil and add water
4) wrestle tomato away from baboon
5) enjoy
quote—>> it's about "spreading the wealth" from rich nations to poor nations in the name of fairness<<–
but first it has to make a stop in Algore's wallet.
It's the governments of these countries with all these starving children that is the problem, not capitalism, not America, and certainly not global warming (man-made or otherwise).
BTW, did we not just empower women in Iraq and Afghanistan? And if any African country made products worth buying, then we would certainly trade with them. Not to sound facetious, but what does Africa have to offer?
the last figure I read for child death's per day worldwide is 3,000. Dr Fletcher Brothers uses that figure in his work and he deals with "getting close to being dead " kids day in and day out.
Matt – Get your kids ready to go to war, Barry has pulled out like he said he would.
…what an unqualified a$$hole…
Matt is a douche bag ! Stick to being Jason Bourne, everything else…..you suck !
I would not listen to a leftist limo libstain if they told me the sky was BLUE!

The Anti Liberal Zone
Give up your millions, Matt Damon. Time to do your share what you preached.
Oh, it's for the CHILDren! How, oh HOW can you EVIL rePUBlicans even show your faces in the presence of this sensitive genius? It's for the CHILDren! (Sobbing.) (…Peeks through fingers.)
All of that CO2 feeding the plants, the plants producing oxygen as a by-product of photo synthesis, everything living and breathing and feeding on the abundance brought by a little extra CO2.
Ha! Pretty good!
NO LONGER THE SILENT MAJORITY!
Damon is another PERFECT EXAMPLE of the self-important, anti-American, Hollywood egotist. They spew their venom to the world while praising themselves and giving each other endless awards so they won't feel guilty for participating in their deviant lifestyles. They preach "tolerance" but they are not satisfied with tolerance, THEY WANT FULL ACCEPTANCE OF THEIR SICK LIFESTYLES AND MENTAL ILLNESSES. In reality, they act the part of heroes while they surrounding themselves with adoring, WEAK MINDED WORSHIPERS WHO WILL NEVER TELL THEM THE TRUTH.

Is it toooooo far fetched to imagine wheat crops in Alaska or Siberia? Maybe the empowered women might just become farmers of the massive government lands that would be open to an Oklahoma style land rush.
That was hilarious! I laughed out loud. Now I have to explain your brilliance to all of my liberal co-workers who want to know what is so funny.
My condolences.
I thought the first one was decent.
If you haven't read this before, I highly recommend it.

Mr. Sharansky greatly expands on this very subject. He is brilliant.
Good point. Don't Democrats, by and large, support abortion. And some, like Obama, have supported letting them die on a table outside the womb? How about that Oz? What party did I say? Democrat?
Stick to acting Matt.
LOL!!!
That's what you get when you rely on government.
A government big enough and powerful enough to give you everything is big an powerful enough to take everything away.
While step 4 is a hilarious joke, shouldn't it be wrestle away from socialist dictator thug?
Ever hear of abortion? Do you know what it is? If not do some research. If so ,apologize to the people you've slandered.
Africa has plenty to offer, violence, corruption, epidemics, malaria, genocide.
The list is endless!
Africa has a vast array of natural resources, but corruption, war, and a lack of education etc make the African nations unable to take advantage of what they posess.
I hear ya myna, however, I would not hold my breath.
Another example of poor acting by Damon. Hey Matt I want to see you rant some more on you tube. Stupid lib.
The only poor children they don't use are the millions who have died of malaria thanks to the continued, unscientifically founded ban on DDT. They don't support the agenda so their deaths are meaningless to the left.
They're called 'bleeding hearts' but I don't think they ever had hearts in the first place.
you dare to mock global warming?
I am sure that this is hate speech – somehow, it must by hate speech, it must – didnt you say something about the homosexuals or blacks or women of mexicans or …. obozo
you must be racist !!!!
I always get the best laughs from the replys to some of these blogs. Funny, funny!
We have a lot of creative people out there and I'm not talking about the enttertainment industry.
Liberals don't understand something so simple.
OH, so he's over at ACORN seeking their help to apply for a "business" loan?
Second best line:
Tim Robbins: "Let me explain to you how this works: you see, the corporations finance Team America, and then Team America goes out… and the corporations sit there in their… in their corporation buildings, and… and, and see, they're all corporation-y… and they make money!"
Damon pussed out.
Ready Ike? This one's for the game!
If Republicans actually wanted millions of innocent children to die, Matt Damon's schtick wouldn't work. Liberals know that conservatives are by nature compassionate, caring people, so they wheel out the human props whenever they want to advance their socialist agenda. They wheel out starving homeless people when they want to raise spending on welfare programs. They wheel out crying gay couples to get gay marriage legalized. Starving children for global warming. Old, sick people for socialized health care. Everything on the liberal Democrat agenda has a corresponding human prop. In contrast, Republicans rarely use human props, because to liberals, compassion is just something to use against Republicans.
they're interchangeable
too bad Barry's dad didn't.
It has been proven in the poorest country's that giving help to men is only a waste, but given to the women they can actually use it an help themselves out of poverty, an feed there children.
ditto
Oz, please don't run away after you've been proven a complete idiot.
And yet these Hollowhead celebutards keep visiting these dictators giving them and their failing political ideology further credibility and stature on both the world stage as well as with their own people.
Isn't he in that there Film Actors Guild?
And where is the blame to the UN. . .wasn't that the purpose of UNICEF?
If a household pet has the carbon footprint equivalent of an SUV — as tragic as it obviously is — wouldn't the loss of 6 million human lives quite possibly be the most significant beneficial impact to Matt's concern over global warming (again, assuming it exists and we can control it)? In short, and again setting aside emotion, there is a logical disconnect between his desire to reverse global warming and maintain (or, heaven forbid, increase) the world population. BTW: when calculating carbon footprints of nations, are they considering populations of, ohh, I don't know, maybe . . . India or China, in calculating impact? (Yes, I know the answer, but the absense of logic in the desperate attempt to "spread the wealth around a bit" strikes me as amazing, coming from people who are supposed to be intelligent.)
Ok, now full disclosure, I really like Matt Damon as an actor and GWH was phenomenal as an original screenplay, but in light of the logic disconnects, how the HELL did MD and/or BA (1) write that movie; or (2) get into Harvard?
Ahhh, but when you dig a bit into the greater strategic vision of their intellectual leaders you'll discover that it all makes sense. Their stated goal is to significantly cut human populations to "sustainable" levels. Some of the über-environ-mentalists consider three billion human beings to be about right which may cause one to ponder upon which three to four billion human beings are to be 'reduced'; not to mention the urgency with which they implore us to act upon their manufactured crisis.
Creating global regulatory frameworks that have the power (governance) to override sovereign rule of law is the means by which they work to empower themselves. This is not conjecture. The information is open source but is often couched in the flowery rhetoric of newspeak. Rarely do you see it stated outright, but sometimes they slip up and a bit of honest clarity slips out into the public forum…Usually through the brave words of someone with a soul and a clear head who speaks out on the implications of what is discussed in the polite company of closed conferences.
Mandating the burning of food crops as fuel while suppressing proven means of energy production fully supports the goal, as does redistributing proverbial fish rather than teaching people to fish for themselves…That is, in the few places that people are still allowed to fish for themselves. Banning and then re-banning DDT whilst encouraging populous hatred of Green Revolutionary advances in food production supports the goal as well. So does restricting industrial and agricultural output through the criminalization of carbon. Such is the case regarding the normalization and socialization of abortion…How long before mandatory sterilization is "normalized" to save Gaea? How long before wars are precipitated and pestilences are essentially allowed to run their courses amongst undesirable populations? …All to save an earth which needs no saving and to save children that their intellectual mentor elites consider to be viruses.
Amen!
We are in a fight against the newest refinement of the globalization of evil.
Nothing is more tyrannical than the actions of those who have empowered themselves to force you do something for your own good.
Man, Matt Damon is getting increasingly insufferable (did anyone see the new trailer for Green Zone?, aka, Seriously, It's NOT Bourne 4)…at this rate he'll be in Garofalo territory in no time.
@BuckwheatPicard: "Matt Damon was responsible for a group of men dying in "Private Ryan" I will never forgive him for it."
…haha…that's so true…
anyone have titles for Damon's next Bourne…Off the top of my head…The Bourne Worker?…he could collaborate with Chomsky. The Bourne Entitlement…?
Possible next Bournes for fat Matt
Bourne Stupid
Bourne Ignorant Liberal
Bourne with Head up Obama's Rear

At the time, I didn't know why the South Park guys were picking on Matt Damon. Boy, did they ever nail that one.

Matt Damon has correctly shown two things that are connected; starving children and global warming. The prolific use of biofuels to advance the scam of global warming reduced the food supply FOR starving children. Matt Damon has only succeeded in demonstrating that his love of Emperor Al Gore exceeds any actual concern for world hunger.
Hey guys, not running, but I hitched a ride on the back of a crying gay couple and they didn't stop until I was somewhere with no net connection. RobertB, what wrong with starving children being a reason to stop global warming? Seems like a pretty good one to me. Also, as far as I understand it, old sick people already have a government-run socialised healthcare system to take care of them in America, so are proabably not the best ones to 'wheel out' for this. (Medicare, right? I'm English but I'm fairly sure I'm right about that bit). As for the abortion argument – don't you guys know that pro-choice people don't consider an abortion to be a death? That's partly the point. So that won't work with me, though I do have other reasons for supporting its leaglity which I won't bore you with.
One last thing – the reason I think compassion is something liberals "use against" Republicans as RobertB puts it is because we're so often shocked at the lack of it frequently displayed by the party. There is a real ruthlessness and lack of empathy evident there that I just don't understand.
This article is ridiculous. The PSA clearly states how every thing is interrelated, yet this author is making it out to be propaganda in support for an "expensive treaty".
I hate this way of thinking. The so-called "War on Terror" has been a complete failure yet has been one of the most expensive. Why does no one remark on this? Why are things like health care and fighting pollution demonized?
Is that the same Matt Damon that had never registered to vote until 2008?
I'm going to stop my dogs and cats from farting right now. Don't want to cause a tornado!
We can stop millions of children from dying by banning Matt Damon from making another crappy film. Just saying…
Actually, if we are talking about how overpopulation (and a myriad of other issues) can lead to mass starvation, than empowering woman is one way to help curb a net gain in population. For example, in Africa, not only do these woman have extremely limited access to birth control or education on family planning, they also live in societies where they have little or no rights. In countries where woman have more freedom, there is a lower birth rate. In African countries, birth rates average 4 and 5 children per woman, and in Niger, it's 6.
So yes… empowering woman is relevant to the video.
Abortion is not so black and white. If you found out at 20 weeks, that you baby was going to be severely paralyzed and would live a very difficult and painful life, would you choose to have the baby, or have an abortion, in which you deliver at 22 weeks and still get to hold your child?
I know someone who chose abortion. She still lives in pain each day, even if she feels she made the right choice for her baby.
To PRO-Abortion liberals, it IS black and white. To them, abortion IS equivalent to taking a pill. I had a girlfriend who had an abortion at 18 and I was involved with it. It was a terrible experience. I would never tell someone to end a perfectly normal child's life because it would hamper their social life. I'm not going to comment on your example. But to me it's essentially playing God with someone else's life.
I believe Karl Marx called these liberal nit wits, USEFUL IDIOTS.
