The Worst Form of Terrorism
by Mark TapsonValentine’s Day was the 20th anniversary of the death fatwa issued against The Satanic Verses novelist Salman Rushdie by Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini, whose stern expression glowered down from many a wall-sized banner throughout his country, and whose declaration, “There is no fun in Islam,” is a masterpiece of comical understatement.
In another notable understatement (considering that the Islamist foothold in England is so great that it gave rise to the expression “Londonistan”), BBC arts correspondent Lawrence Pollard said recently that the Rushdie controversy galvanized “a stronger sense of Muslim identity in Britain.” Nothing like having a blasphemer to behead to bring some people together, I guess. “Until that time there had been assumed support for the broad principle of free speech,” Pollard adds. “The Rushdie affair introduced the question of how far free expression should be limited to avoid offending religious feelings in a multicultural society.”
No, it introduced the question of how far expression should be limited to avoid the hysterical, worldwide, lethal mob violence of Muslims, since no one in the media, especially the BBC, gives a second thought to offending the religious feelings of Buddhists, Jews, Hindus, animists, Satanists and especially Christians, because none of those groups will kill you for it. Indeed, taking pop culture potshots at Christianity is such a common pastime for the Western media that Christians can barely even muster the energy for an angry e-mail or two.
To name just two examples: An episode of Cold Case in late 2007 depicted a group of devout Christian teens in an abstinence club (don’t feel bad, I didn’t know such things exist either, but I want to know where I can sign up my future teenagers), who stoned a girl to death for breaking her vow. In a 2008 episode of the BBC’s Bonekickers, a Christian extremist beheads a Muslim.
Christians committing stonings and beheadings? The reason such perversions of reality can be aired is that the entertainment industry knows that any horror, no matter how ludicrously false and offensive, can be attributed to Christians without fear of retribution, and that no horror, no matter how demonstrably true, can be attributed to some Muslims without incurring a fatwa and violating the Prime Directive of multiculturalism, which holds that all cultures must be equally valued and respected – except Western culture, which is inherently evil, racist, imperialist, exploitative. . . et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, as Yul Brynner might say.
(Let me stop right here and insert the standard, ubiquitous disclaimer that the majority of the world’s Muslims, especially in America, are themselves offended by and reject such pre-medieval horrors. This would seem to be so obvious that it doesn’t need stating, but apparently it does, because any criticism of Islamist behavior is immediately met with loud protestations that not all Muslims are terrorists. Of course they aren’t; what reasonable person ever said they were? And while I’m at it, let me deal with the other kneejerk objection that always arises in discussions of these matters: “What about the Crusades? Christianity’s just as bad!” The blindingly obvious answer is, that was 800 years ago. Christianity’s moved on, fundamentalist Islam hasn’t.)
Speaking of moving on, how far we haven’t come in those 20 years since the Rushdie affair. Last week Dutch Parliamentarian Geert Wilders (about whom documentarian Michael Wilson has written more on Big Hollywood here) was refused entry into England, the epicenter of European Islamic extremism, because his short film Fitna, which graphically links violence carried out in the name of Islam to the inciting proclamations of radical Muslim clerics, is denounced by some as “hate speech.” That’s right – it’s okay in Europe for Islamists to spew the foulest incitements to bigotry, hatred, murder and mayhem, and then act them out, but it’s unacceptable to point out that they’re doing it.
Wilders, whose name is invariably preceded in media reports by the dismissive label “right-wing” (media-code for “a racist crank who is not to be taken seriously and who deserves a good beheading”) has replaced Rushdie as the newest (last year it was the brilliant Mark Steyn) and most visible lightning rod of the assault on free speech currently being waged by Islamists. Groups like the fifty-seven member nations of the Organization of the Islamic Conference are pushing hard to make such “Islamophobia” as Wilders’ film an international crime. Indeed, the OIC condemns Islamophobia as “the worst form of terrorism.” No doubt the Rabbi and his pregnant wife, who were horrifically tortured and murdered by rampaging jihadists in the recent Mumbai attacks, would beg to differ if they could.
But back to Christianophobia and the double standard in the media. Recently I saw a repeat episode of Family Guy in which God was depicted farting the universe into existence. If Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane had depicted Allah at all, much less expelling gas, he would now be living as Geert Wilders has for years, under 24-hour security to avoid being butchered by a self-righteous fanatic, as was his former countryman, controversial film director Theo van Gogh. But MacFarlane knows he has nothing to fear from, say, right-wing Christian evangelicals, despite the fact that liberals consider them a more dangerous and imminent threat to America than al Qaeda.
Only the religion of global warming environmentalism enjoys as much freedom from media criticism as radical Islam – and strangely, global warming too is considered a more terrifying threat. I have news for Al Gore and his devotees: when we’re all living under sharia law, global warming will be the least of our problems.
As for Islamophobia, an “irrational fear of Islam” does not even exist; it is a trumped-up charge designed to bully us into silence and deflect criticism from the Islamists as they go about plotting terrorism and trying to shoehorn sharia law into our culture. A perfectly rational concern about the demonstrable threat of Islamic extremism does exist, however; that’s what Geert Wilders’ film expresses, and that’s what the Western media must be willing to throw a spotlight on. The media and entertainment industry has had plenty of practice offending Christian religious sensibilities; it must now take the lead in pushing back against our Islamist enemies who are free speech’s most serious threat.

This is one thing I actually feel reservedly hopeful about with Obama in the Whitehouse.
I suspect he's going to so weaken America that the Jihadists just won't be able to stop themselves from blowing something up here.

No, I'm not happy it will mean the deaths of many of my fellow Americans. But better that than waking up one day to Sharia law.
"Peace" doesn't necessarily mean the end of war brought about by an age of tolerance and diplomacy, it can also mean the peace that comes when your enemies are all dead. That is what is meant by "peace" in the Qur'an.
I really wanted to tour England and Europe with my kids. Will there even be a Louvre when I finally save up enough money to go? Will they tear the Mona Lisa from the wall and burn her, will they light libraries on fire and smash statues to bits? Will Stonehenge be bombed like the Buddhist statues in Afghanistan?
Sadly, I believe the answer is yes.
Look one of these days our British friends will get the point. One would think after having London do a stand in for Tel Aviv at the height of the last Intafada (wait is that over yet? We never got word) the Brits would rediscover their honor, their moral code and hey we are Englishmen and Women and we don't care for this garbage. So far its lets feel bad because we are white and we are bad. What is wrong with them? Question when did the instinct to survive get bred out of Brits? My attitude is simple: Deport every single muslim out of the UK back to their countrys. If they cannot live and assimilate then they have no reason being in the UK, period.
When they are reminded what being British means and their regard for English rights and English laws they will take their country back. And England, the UK in General will always remain what it is and what it should be.

Don't you wish for a day, police, marines and other "facists" would say to the Islamists, "OK, have at it, let the homosexuals (for example) experience your Sharia. The times we are living in are eerily similar to the 1930’s. The world is under economic distress and an evil dogma is permeating throughout the world. Geert Wilders et al, are the modern day Churchill’s screaming in the wilderness. These Islamo- Fascist are not done, very patient they are, like our Marxist, inch by inch everything’s a cinch.
Is assimilation too much to ask? How about some gratitude to a great nation like Britain for taking them in?
And Obama is not a Churchill, not even and FDR, more like a Chamberlin. But who remembers Chamberlin and Churchill? My 19yo niece recently related to me how Paris had been liberated by the Red Army. So much for higher education these days.

Rushdie is a Lesftist. He is critical of the U.S. government's foreign policy and he supported the Islamic Revolution in Iran. However, as soon as he was perceived as being critical of Islam all that went out the door. I say perceived because most of the uproar caused by 'The Satanic Verses' was based on the translation of the title. The word verses was translated as 'ayat' which is the term used to describe only verses from the Koran. This led many Muslims to believe, based solely on the title, that Rushdie was calling the Koran the work of the Devil. This alone was enough for the fatwa to be issued and for him to have to go into hiding. Unfortunately the leftists today have not learned from this. They can cozy up to Islamic fundamentalists all they want and abandon people like Theo Van Gogh but that will not save them. The West needs a serious wake-up call.

When moderate Muslims finally stand up and stop allowing themselves to be defined by these Islamofascists then I think there should be a clear distinction between them. Until then, however, the fact that they do not condemn the stuff that comes from the extremists means they deserve no special treatment. 1. When did I say "everything is all our fault"? Point out those exact words. I simply said that when a society reacts to terrorism by turning its own back on its own values out of fear, than the terrorists will have accomplished one of their goals.
2. Again, you seem to be confusing Islamic radicalism with all Muslims. You do realize that one of the main recruiting talking points AQ uses is "the west wants to destroy your religion". When you refer to all Muslims as "ghouls" or talk about mass religious deportations, you kind of confirm the AQ talking point. The whole self-fufilling prophecy thing.

We know that Islamic extremists hate everything associated with Western Civilization. So when they stand up and demand that we submit to their laws or else they'll take action we have to assume they are not joking. If moderate Muslims do not stand up and speak out against this then how can we tell that they are in fact moderate. Organizations like CAIR are controlled and funded by terrorist organization so for us to not be suspicious of them does not mean we are being tolerant, it means we are being stupid.
That being said, I'm not Canadian so I still believe in free speech. I don't think anyone should be prosecuted for what they say. But if they cross the line and advocate action in line with what they say then they should be viewed as enemies of Western Civilization. And if people from that same group do not speak out against things they don't agree with and allow themselves to be defined by the worst of their peers then HOW DO WE KNOW THEY EVEN EXIST AT ALL???
We have been pummeled with the message that all cultures are equal. I take exception to that view because I refuse to acknowledge that I am equal to a culture that treats women as property and honor killings as permissible. That being said, if a Muslim man wants to live his life being a backwards misogynist that views women as less than human he can do that all he wants and as long as he doesn't impose his views on others I won't do anything to interfere with his way of life. That's the difference between us and them.

There are real consequences including gay bashing in Amsterdam and murder and death threats against dissenting voices.
I'm not for collective punishment but surely there is need for an answer beyond idealistic multiculturalism that punishes the host population in the name of a one-sided tolerance.

You ought to watch an old Twilight Zone episode called "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street". It shows an American block descending into chaos, paranoia, and anarchy because of a blackout. At the end of the show, two "aliens" show that all it takes to cause Americans to turn on one another is switching their lights on and off.
The comical thing is that because of 19 men, the US has spent a couple trillion dollars as well as invading a country that had nothing to do with those 19 men and their terrorist act in 2001. We've bankrupted our economy and an uncomfortably large number of Americans have been reduced to sniveling little cowards balled up in the fetal position screaming "they're coming to get us". Probably one of the reasons we haven't been attacked again is because we're tearing our own society and economy apart out of an all-encompassing fear. Yep. There are no more terrorists in the world. There were only 19 and they all killed themselves on 9/11. I'm so glad that problem solved itself without any action on our part. The West will eventually have to stop propping up dictatorships in Middle Eastern countries. One of the main reasons the Iranian mullahs gained so much traction there is because the West overthrew a "socialist" government in the 1950's and installed the barbaric Shah in its place. It didn't exactly leave the Iranian people in a place to be too trustful of the West and unfortunately much more receptive to the radicals who overthrew him. Iraqis definitely noticed that we propped up Saddam for over a decade before we suddenly decided that we no longer needed him. People don't like it when they feel that they are being used as a means to an end.

Sure it works. American Society (i.e. white people) was guilty by turning blind eye. Liberal and Moderate Americans had to be collectively shamed into action through guilt by association before the KKK could be marginalized enough so that they no longer have any power. Remember Martin Luther King and the march on Washington, the bus boycotts? What do you think King was doing? He was putting the guilt and shame squarely on the White communities full of good people who sat idley by while the Klan did it's dirty business. Shame is a powerful tool. Well, it used to be anyway.
We will never be able to stop extremism including Islamic extremism, but it will take Liberal and Moderate Muslims to marinalize them. The only way to do that is to make them just as guilty and culpable as the extremists until they are shamed into action.

This weekend I saw "Four Feathers" (it was TIVO'd so I don't know when it aired) –the 1939 version. What struck me was the Sudan is even more of a mess now than it was two hundred years ago. Some things never change. Islam is in dire need of Reformation. Until it undergoes same, it will remain a backward, violent religion that borders on a cult.
How about corroborating accusations with fact? CAIR supported by terrorists? Wow. Muslim men living backwards and treating women as property? Wow.

Presumably, the offensive you refer to was the French offensive on November 1939, when a few French divisions penetrated a mile or two into German territory and then dug in.
It was an embarrasing operation, to be sure, but it did not lead to Chamberlain's resignation, primarily as it was an entirely a French affair.
Until April 1940, Chamberlain was in good shape politically; his comments in a speech to the Central Council of the National Union of Conservative and Unionist Associations at Central Hall, Westminster, 4 April 1940, where he made the now famous remark that Hitler had "missed the bus." was favourable received by most people…
But the handwriting was on the wall. Just a few weeks later, following the reversals in the Norwegian campaign*, and as Hitler's panzer divisions rampaged thru northern France and the Low Countries after opening the offensive in the West on May 10th, 1940, Chamberlain finally, that very evening, tendered his resignation to the King, recommending, in the process, that he call on Winston Churchill to form a new government….

Just before World War I, there were a number of terrorist attacks on the United States forces in the Philippines by Muslim extremists. So General "Black Jack" Pershing captured 50 terrorists, and had them tied to posts for execution. He then had his men bring in two pigs and slaughter them in front of the, now horrified, terrorists.
Muslims detest pork, because they believe pigs are filthy animals. Some of them simply refuse to eat it, while others won't even touch pigs at all, nor any of their by-products. To them, eating or touching a pig, its meat, its blood, etc., is to be instantly barred from Paradise (and those virgins), and doomed to hell.
The soldiers then soaked their bullets in the pigs' blood, and proceeded to execute 49 of the terrorists by firing squad. The soldiers then dug a big hole, dumped in the terrorist's bodies, and covered them in pig blood, entrails, etc. They let the 50th man go.
And for the next 42 years, there was not a single Muslim extremist attack anywhere in the world.
