The New Black Panthers & American Robespierre
by Michael MoriartyIf I remember correctly, George Buchner’s 19th Century play, Danton’s Death, actually opened The Hopkins Center at Dartmouth College.
Though my memories are now understandably vague, I was actually in that production. Why my amnesia is understandable would necessitate a whole other article.

However, I played Camille Desmoulins in Danton’s Death, one of the Orphans of the Storm, so to speak.
I saw that classic silent movie, D. W. Griffith’s Orphans of the Storm, last night.
Many “Orphans” of that nightmare were former French Revolutionaries whom Maximilien Robespierre suddenly found unacceptable to him and his idea of “Public Safety.”
Robespierre had a few of his former friends and colleagues guillotined – a decisively longer-term version of being “thrown under the bus.”
Among the victims of Robespierre was The much-loved George Danton.
Danton was, I suppose, the Humanist among a rather savage pack of what I now call Revolutionary Reparationists.
With the New Black Panthers now hitting the headlines, the word “reparations” is all over the news and the networks.
There have been, for quite some time, Revolutionary Humanists like Danton all over New York City and much of the East Coast.
There are now very bold and unapologetic Revolutionary Reparationists.
The Revolutionary Humanists and the Revolutionary Reparationists are both an indispensable part of the “fundamental transformation of the United States of America.”
The obvious loyalty which our President and his First Lady receive from the New Black Panthers is clearly based on the strongly communicated sense that both President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder believe that because of slavery, some form of reparations are due to the African American community.
Obama/Holder Reparations would certainly include the tacit acquittal of Black Panthers who shamelessly chose to intimidate white voters at the voting centers.
The New Black Panthers’ officially condoned bullying is merely pay-back or rather, reparations.

This certainly appears to be the Obama Nation’s quid pro quo for slavery and other, endless offenses to blacks by the purely white community.
However, and not so oddly and not so unexpectedly enough, the red and brown of First Nations and Mexican “brothers” will also be supported by the Obama administration as being justifiably present in America, whether illegally or not, to collect their own reparations.
There are ominously echoing similarities between the French Revolution and now the increasingly swift racial strife now expanding in the United States.
Actually, the New Black Panthers and their rhetoric remind me more of Kim Jong Il’s North Korea than any of Martin Luther King’s, non-violent protests of the Sixties.
If North Korea is, as I believe, Communism’s boldest attack dog, then our President’s and Attorney General Eric Holder’s attitude toward the New Black Panther Party is matched by Red China’s and neo-Soviet Russia’s hands-off attitude toward North Korea.
Is third millennium racism more of a veil to International Communism’s version of Good Cop/Bad Cop?
Is the New Black Panthers’ racism more of a ruse than a reality?
More an incipiently violent mask to the actual and very Red Face of the Obama Nation?
I certainly suspect as much.
When the Black Panthers want to throw in the whole, non-white Third World, doesn’t this sudden generosity and Big Team Spirit smell a little cheesy?
And more than a little Communist?
Now with Communist affiliations worldwide, the Old Black Panthers sound a great deal more sure of themselves than they used to, don’t they? So much so that they call themselves the New Black Panther Party.
“We have you outnumbered,” is the message of the Neo-Black Panthers, don’t you think?
The actual membership size of the Black Panthers has always been relatively small, but with their formally declared, new “connections”?!
Straight to the top of that Progressively Red New World Order.
This leads me to ask, “Is President Barack Hussein Obama the American Robespierre of a renewed and admittedly Marxist but still very French Revolution?”
You can’t “fundamentally transform” anything without some form of revolution, can you?
Without breaking a few eggs?
If your “revolution” has an increasingly civilian army made up of labor unions and Black Panthers, aren’t we as blind as the French bourgeoisie were to the sans-culottes?
Or the West was to the bottomless ambitions of the Russian Revolution for that matter?
Or are these “enlightened despots,” as Voltaire would have described the Obama Nation, the Czars in the White House and their highly exposed admiration for the as-yet undefeated Mao Zedong of China, merely a replay of Robespierre?
Wasn’t, indeed, Robespierre the true Godfather to Karl Marx and then Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, then Stalin, then Mao?
The French Revolution as the Birth-Mother to Marx’s, Lenin’s and Mao’s Communist Revolutions?
Please read Our Oldest Enemy in order to grasp the unrelentingly French nature of Communism and France’s obvious refusal to admit the mistakes of Bonaparte let alone those of Robespierre.

Raison d’etat or Reason of State is beyond the long arm of Law and Order.
Under the publicly recognized narcissism and, I firmly believe, the Mao-worshipping megalomania of Barack Hussein Obama, I have no doubt we’re being ruled by The American Robespierre.
Not having shown the least willingness to have even a slightly respectful discussion with the center-right soul of America, the President and his force-feeding of Socialism to America clearly reveals an equally Communist willingness to use violent force in the administering of his “fundamental transformation of the United States of America.”
Are the Clintons merely the George and Gracie of this American French Revolution?
Or will one of them end up as George or Georgia Danton?
We mustn’t forget Hillary’s much earlier loyalty to the Black Panthers in the Sixties.
The Clintons will most certainly have been a major part of this very Revolutionary and “fundamental transformation of the United States of America”!
Now that President Obama has let the cat out of the bag and revealed that Progressive actually means Socialist, won’t returning to a Clinton Presidency be as self-defeating for Democrats as Republicans would be, returning to another Bush Presidency?
The Bush Family are Progressively for the “Immigration Reform,” New World Order or, as Bush Sr. rather imperialistically called it, the Pax Americana.
Barack Obama now plays Robespierre to all of the would-be but very bipartisan Revolutionaries.
The only comfort is that Robespierre eventually had to face his own favorite solution: the guillotine.
Death as a solution to almost everything.
The “Progressives”, both the Clintons and the Obama Nation, are as certain as both Danton and Robespierre were.
You can learn from the French Revolution what such threateningly violent certainty could lead them to.
That would be our new, Progressive guillotine: mutually exchanged, retroactive abortion or “Purge”.
Better known in America as unexplained deaths.

There definitely seem to be some parallels with the French Revolution; the stimulus bill is also quasi back door reparations as are all the disastrous bills Hussein signs into law. Make no mistake, wealth is being stolen from the producers and being redistributed to Hussein's leftwing base. Do most black Americans work for the govt or unions? How many of those jobs have been lost compared to the private sector.
My only hope is that Hussein suffers the same fate as Robespierre, until then castrate him this November.
Robespierre once said something vey interesting…
He talked about wanting freedom for MAN. Madison, on the other hand, talked of the freedom of MEN. Important difference; indeed, Robespierre and the French Revolution was the creation of the Illuminist and Communist movements.
Madison and the American revolution,on the other hand was about individual destinies and the pursuit of happiness.
WHAT a difference,indeed…
What a farce.
I'm Irish and from 1641 to 1652, over 500,000 Irish were killed by the English and another 300,000 were sold as slaves. Ireland's population fell from about 1,500,000 to 600,000 in one single decade (from White Slavery:The Slaves That Time Forgot). I could give some really gruesume details about what was done to them but I won't.
My great, great, great grandfather and his family immigrated from Ireland to New York. In desperation my ancestors had to then move to Wisconsin and Canada because of the Irish no hiring policy. It was common at the time for businesses to place signs that said "Irish Need Not Apply."
I'm sure all of the above was a nightmare for them and I feel terrible about what they faced. But it didn't happen to me personally. To think that anyone would be sleazy enough to try to profit of the misery of long gone ancestors is grotesque and displays the lowest form of character.

Robespierre and Obama have both wanted revolution for the sake of revolution. What they've torn apart and are still tearing apart is any status quo.
This cyclical demand for revolution might appear a permanent part of the human condition … but I suspect and now pray that THIS particular revolution may be both the worst of revolutions worldwide but the LAST OF THEM.
Therefore not the end of America as we know it but the end of Commune-ism as that Bible of Hell has been known for over two centuries, ever since the French Revolution.
God Bless,
Michael
Bravo!!!! Good article.
well, Ben Franklin amongst others, spoke of the need of revolutions from time to time…
But it was for the hard fought right- granted us by Divine Wisdom- that we, as individuals, were guaranteed that which is inalienable. Obama, and his Marxist Revolution theology which he speaks- and is on record- of 'collective' salvation- something Pope Benedict has called 'demonic'- is about the nihilism of destruction in the name of collectivism.
Connect the dots- and you will find Progressivism, and it's ideas of 'collective' salvation is actually Luciferian…
Mr. Moriarty, being a casual student of psychology I have been wanting for some time to know a professional's analysis of our President's personality disorder. For some reason it never occurred to me while I was sitting in front of a computer and could have Google'd it myself.
Thanks for the reminder and the link!
Hmmm … while reading your post on my e-mail … a sudden and very new link to the words "French Revolution" popped up.
It is Wikipedia's very brief but very laundered version that leaves out Robespierre's disregard for the "inalienable right to life" which is actually AMERICAN not French.
It is the fastest way to RE-EDUCATE America about the superiority of the French Revolution over the American Revolution.
Staggering the speed with which they intend to brainwash our youth.
I, thank God, am obviously too old to learn their new tricks!
GB,

I remember the movie Malcom X played by Danzel Washington.
A Brief Comparison of France and America…..
….Robespierre = Bobo Obama….
….Joan of Arc = Sarah Palin….
….Jean-Paul Belmondo = Me !
Robespierre will always stand as the anti- James Madison; he- and others in the French Revolutionary movement- believed in the human power of the collective. Adam Weishaupt was influential to these men, and the Illuminist movement was integral to the Revolution. You will find that has been 'laundered' as well.
Because when all the dots connect you can trace them backwards as well- and these people need the dark of night- and the shadow of men's souls- to obtain that which they seek…
Thank you for that!
We all could use a good laugh about now … no reflection upon your charisma intended.
God Bless,

When i home schooled my son and we studied the American and French Revolutions the main difference was that the French Revolution left God out of its consitution. I believe that it is called the Rights of Man. no where is God even mentioned. That is why it was so easy to be inhumane to others. Our founders kept God into the equation. God is being slowly eliminted from our culture and history. It is one of the reasons abortion is excepted. If the progressives, commies, socialists, can get God out of our lives then it makes a easier for them to control us and our country. unless the muslims take over then it is convert to Islam or die. either way we are screwed.
The guy on the left looks like George Jefferson.
Obama Obama Obama…..ugh.
Allah is obviously NOT The Golden Rule!
Our Judeo-Christian God, however, is!!
The Golden Rule does NOT read: "Do unto gestating infants and infidels what you would not want done unto your own gestating infancy … or … 'infidelity'!"
Therefore BOTH Muslims Fundamentalists and Progressives have one thing in common: they abhor the Golden Rule.
Such hatred … and, in the case of the Clintons and Nancy Pelosi, such Christian hypocrisy, is inevitably suicidal.
In the long run, it is not us but they who are "screwed".
GB,
M
While I agree the French revolution was indeed a touch stone in the movement to control all humanity, I have to believe it goes back much further in human history.
Even the ancient Greek philosophers, the fathers of logic and reason, concluded that some races of human served no other purpose than to be slaves to the superior race. Hence the term slave is derived from the word Slovak, my ancestors.
In my opinion it always seems to come back down to human nature. I believe human nature drives us to control our surroundings (other people) while simultaneously demanding no one control us.
I applaud the instinct to not be controlled, I believe it an essential part of the American DNA. But it is difficult to control the urge to force others to be under my control.
The only morally acceptable position I've come up with is I must freely give to others what I demand from them. Free will and liberty.
If you ask me the bailout was meant for two things. First, a down payment for all the work getting Obama and the democrats elected. And secondly, to flood the economy just before November with enough cash to make it appear the recession is over.
They'll worry about 2012 when they get past 2010.
Such gifts, free will and liberty, do narrow down your sphere of influence … it certainly has mine …. but the rewards of inner peace are beyond comprehension!
The rewards of such a gift to others are divine!!!
GB,
M
Agreed. Freedom of the collective (while strictly controlled by the ruling elite) vs. freedom of the individual.
I vote with Madison. Freedom of the individual.
Unfortunately I don't believe humanity will ever be done with it.
I'm Irish on my mother's side, and we stayed in NY. The Ancient Order of Hibernian Hall proudly displays one of those "No Irish" signs on their wall next to the US flag.
Those bans on the Irish are the reason so many Irish went into police and fire work. They were the only ones willing to take the dirty, low paying jobs, and the government was so desperate to fill the positions, they even accepted the Irish.
I love watching the St. Pat's parade from NYC, with all those proud Irish police and firemen.
We won.
I leave you peace, my peace I give to you, John 14:27.
Catholic libertarian.
Thank you, Mr. Moriarity, for a fine article.
Regarding your solution for those 'progressives' who want to fundamentally transform America…….from your pen and lips, to God's eyes and ears..
Thank you.
There is an old proverb: "A fool may cause a stone to roll, a thousand wise men can not stop" These idiots will lead us into a race war if they are not careful.
Yeah, but George Jefferson was a successful businessman. He'd have had no use for those louts at all.
Vince Foster was unavailable for comment.
Have they been careful so far?
GB,
M
Great story, EdSki!
Yes of course, carefully leading us into a race war….. HAHahaha
For Lenin and his gang, the French Revolution was only a stepping stone to real mass murder. Several weeks before the Bolsheviks seized power in 1917, Lenin proclaimed that Soviet power would be enforced through "the grain monopoly" and "bread rationing" (starvation), and he added that "These means of control and of compelling people to work will be more potent than the laws of the Convention and its guillotine. The guillotine only terrorised, only broke active resistance. For us, this is not enough." To see for yourself what "not enough" really meant, go to: http://www.archive.org/details/TheSovietStory
I appreciate the author's thought and research. I certainly agree with his conclusions regarding the threat that Obama and the Dems present to the world.
But I don't think that you need to work so hard to produce connections and parallels. Totalitarianism, in all its forms, whether it be Revolutionary French, Imperial French, Nazis, Soviet, Maoist, Khmer, Black Pantherist, or Obama-ist, is easily recognizable by its character of violence, deceit, pride and theft.
The bible says that Satan is a liar and the father of lies. The Good Books also says, "The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy." Now, who among us* would deny that the spirit of totalitarianism is ultimately diabolical?
*Well, allowing for our irreligious Libertarian Allies.
Thank you for the link!
God Bless,
Michael
A horrifying truth but truth nonetheless!
Oh, not all Libertarians are irreligious. They may be "lapsed" … but they are not "totalitarian" … nor easily manipulated.

Because Obama is such a danger to America I don't eat my lunch any place who hires a Obama supporter.
i can spot them eazy, they look stupid.
i agree-i;m sure that if we all lookd to our ancestry we would all find some country that mistreated our ancestors-i'm italian, german, french, irish ,dutcha nd alittle bit of indian-WHO would i have tolook to to get reparations??
Mr. Moriarity,
I have done some reading about the French Revolution and note the following. The French Revolution got started by the French supporting our cause and seeing democracy in action. The American Revolution worked whereas the the French Revolution is known to history as simply "The Terror". The one difference in the themes of these revolutions strikes out form what I read.
The Founding Father believed in Natural Law and that our rights were granted to us by Providence which many thought of as God but it really means a higher authority. The JAcobons were for the most part atheists who struck out against the church. They beleived rights came from Man. If rights come from Man then men can alter them, edit them and redefine what they mean. If rights are from Providence then there is the assumption that they are inviolate and can only be interpreted but the assumption is they are absolute and interpretations should be consistant. I find this subject very interesting.
Am I the only one who thinks that the Black Panthers (both old and new, as shown in the two photographs) just look like buffoons? They are trying so very hard to look tough and intimidating, with their black berets, quasi military garb, shotguns and clubs, that they come off as extras in some campy comic opera written by Mel Brooks. They just don't look tough to me. They look ridiculous. Tony Soprano's goombahs would kick the shit out of them.
I would point out that their are atheists and then there are atheists. I beleive that atheististic libertarians still believe that there is a higher authority that i inherent in the world. This thought process can be understood best in Asimov's Foundation novels. At the end of the first Asimov states "Violence is the last refuge if the incompentent." I think most right leaning libertarian atheists still hold to the concept of Natural Law. They just don't believe it comes from God but rather that it is a right authroity because it is rational.
LEftists on the other hand usually counter with "your a racist Myah Myah Myah!" It''s different viewpoint. I guess.
I am half Irish too and you must remember that England was going after Ireland since the Norman Invasion. They hung more Irish Catholic, men, women and children for wearing green and speaking the irish. The N word was use long before blacks were sold into slavery to the new world. The English used the N word on the irish long, long time ago. In Boston they would hire blacks before they hired Irish catholics. The Irish and the Jews are the more persecuted in the history of the world. You can look it all up on the internet.
Another great article from MM. Today there are 40 million black Americans and hundreds of millions of white Americans. What they have to do is come up with a final figure and bring the bill to congress. One billion, 5 billion or 50 billion divide by 40 million. So we need that final reparation figure.
Then we start to DEDUCT…… all the money blacks got after 1865 up until 1964. Then we deduct the entire cost of the Great Society, all the welfare, all the cost of affirmative action, all the food stamps, free housing. We need to pay back that cost before we can pay that final amount to every black American out there, no matter who they are.
However, there is strings attacked to this money, no more black radicals groups, no more crying about slavery, no more jesse jackson, or Al Sharp., no more complaints about America.. You have now been paid off with interest for all past injustices…. forever.
The rest of America needs a rest…. we can all use a break.
By the way, I wonder what happen to Robespierre?
Those responsible for dismissing the case:
•Loretta King—King was appointed by the Obama team to act in a supervisory role at the DOJ Civil Rights Division until the Senate confirmed a permanent division chief. She was the acting Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights during the key decision-making period of the NBPP case. King had not worked on a voting case since she left the Voting Section in the mid-1990s, but she did issue a decision last year that refused to let the majority-black town of Kinston, N.C., by its own choice, hold nonpartisan municipal elections. She has been sanctioned by federal court judges for bringing unmeritorious cases and for failing to respond to court orders. King sought to undermine the NBPP case with spurious arguments and was one of the two supervisors who ordered the Coates team to dismiss the case
Good one!! Poor fellow is possibly watching the Clintons from a front row seat in an undisclosed location.
Great article MM….eyes wide open!! The Panthers are only a cartoon of the real face of Barack Obama and his crew. A very pointed and serious cartoon. The faces behind this and previous occupants of the White House get more sinister by the day.
Perfectly sketched.
Their caricature, all in a few words.
That's what we're facing.
God bless and thank you,
Michael
Natural Law or God would LIMIT Progress. Therefore Progressives are either atheists, "humanists", or, in the case of the Clintons, Biden and Pelosi, flamingly Christian hypocrites.
Abortion is "Progress" for them.
Segregation was "Progress" for the Nazis … until, of course, they began their Final Solution.
Symptoms of the same, totalitarian disease.
Death as the increasingly best solution to most major problems.

There is a marked and distinctive difference between forcibly removing some still-thriving element from a society, as the French Revolution did with organized religion in it's day, and removing the artificial life-support systems keeping traditional organized religion around well past it's evolutionary expiration-date, as is largely happening in the Modern West today.
If the tenets and social preferences of traditional Islam and/or Christianity are still worthy and relevant, let them prove it by surviving without cultural systems like governments shaping laws to fit their various precepts, or affording them special treatment not afforded to other organizations in terms of legal defference and taxation. If they endure, then they endure. If they fail, then they fail.
Natural Selection is your friend.
And Natural Selection will always believe in the Golden Rule. It and The Word distinguish us from animals.
Repeated efforts of Communism to prove that the Golden Rule is no longer applicable have failed.
Maoism, like Stalinism and Leninism, has been increasingly softened over the last few decades. This resurgence of neo-Soviet, Putinized strong-arm tactics in Russia, with the undeniably socialist revolution going on with the Obama Nation is, for me at any rate, the final gasp of Marxism.
None of it follows the arc of HUMAN natural selection. It may be Darwinian … but Darwin's Laws were corroborated by the evolution of animals as they evolved into humans.
Human Civilization, however, is defined by its capacity to protect those humans who can least protect themselves.
Abortion is obviously not civilized.
Because Man MUST be civilized or he won't survive, the popularity of abortion, like the popularity of slavery, will disappear.
Abortion, like modern day slavery, will eventually return to the black market commodity it once was.
God Bless,
Michael
The Golden Rule will endure in this post-religious (at least in the organized/doctrinaire sense of the term) Modern West for the same reason it endured even among the Gnostics – because a good notion is a good notion regardless of whether it's supposed originator is "real" or not.
"Because Man MUST be civilized or he won't survive, the popularity of abortion, like the popularity of slavery, will disappear."
The conflation of these wholly-disparate institutions is… interesting, to say the least, but even in the broadest sense I can't see the paralell holding up. If you wish to see the number of Abortions in American drop to near-nonexistance, the solution is not in restricting individual freedom but INCREASING it – let loose the floodgates on contraceptive advances, morning after medicines, etc . Make NOT accidentally getting pregnant – while still enjoying a healthy sex life – as easy as NOT getting a sunburn and all sides would get what they claim to want without a single freedom having to be infringed.
Loved you in "Troll." Not being sarcastic.
I want reparations from the British! They oppressed my Irish forebears for 800 years! We should start the "Green Panthers"! We could hang out at polling places and drink Guinness.
They're a "Third World"-looking bunch of goons (like the "Tontons Macoutes" of the late "Papa Doc" Duvalier, Hugo Chavez's "red kerchief" squads, and the thugs working for "Comrade Bob" Mugabe).
I agree that Libertarians are not totalitarian. Libertarians are our allies.
Though, with their disproportionate railing against the right, I sometimes wonder if they remember who the real enemy is…
More point was more along the lines of : some Libertarians specifically reject the notion that morality is based on Judeo/Christian ethical system.
it would seem that the concept of 'freedom of the collective' to be an oxymoron…
Obviously Madison, Jefferson, Adams and John Jay thought THAT one through and discarded it. Like 'Democracy'. That, too, was tossed aside as being a gateway to anarchy- and totalitarianism.
Interesting, eh?
Interesting, and completely understandable. Pure democracy means 50% + 1 get what ever they want. That's mob rule.
The constitution itself was written just in case one party rule started lurching the country towards totalitarianism. Regardless of how many elected offices one party holds, the constitution still lists exactly what the majority can not do to the minority.
hallelujah, brother…
In response to the question posed about another Clinton or Bush presidency, I don't think the country can survive another of either. But the country definitely cannot survive another Obama term, he and his Progs/Socialists both in the administration and in Congress have got to go
Hi Mr. M!
outstanding essay…YESSSSSSSSSSS!
I suppose that God ought to turn up the volume on the next Washington, D.C. earthquake..the recent 16 July magnitude 3.6 quake just didn't faze them enough…well, perhaps we can spare the historic buildings and just shake up those buggers next Fall…I would love to see the growing number of us Tea Partiers effect a magnitude 9.6 release of energy at the voting booths! Couldn't agree more … yet I suspect that some "disaster" of at least Oklahoma City proportions will just happen "suddenly" and will turn Obama's approval ratings around in the same way the Federal Building's tragedy saved Clinton.

"Freedom is not empowerment. Empowerment is what the Serbs have in Bosnia. Anybody can grab a gun and be empowered. It's not entitlement. An entitlement is what people on welfare get, and how free are they? It's not an endlessly expanding list of rights — the "right" to education, the "right" to health care, the "right" to food and housing. That's not freedom, that's dependency. Those aren't rights, those are the rations of slavery — hay and a barn for human cattle.
There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences. " – P.J. O'Rourke
……… Americans are just starting to realize what the left terms as "rights" will cost them. And cost them it will- dearly.
A real Rainbow Coalition.
What a load of crap.
Then the Book of Revelation is wrong?I don't think so.The earth by now is certainly too small to hold both individual freedom and Communist dictatorship. One will have to go and I doubt if it will be individual freedom.GB,M
I mean human conflict. Even if tyranny is defeated, I'm sure some one some where will come up with another reason to start a war. Part of the penance for original sin is how St. Augustine put it.
The punishment was not only banishment from paradise, but also being imperfect, living in an imperfect world, governed by imperfect leaders. And the best we could hope for was the Church would do its best – abet imperfect – effort to guide government and society as we endeavor to persevere.
Revelations is a very strange and interesting book. Most of the imagery was borrowed from Babylonian mythology. It's origin is around 100 A.D., after the destruction of the second Temple, Jerusalem and Juda, when both Jews and Christians were scattered across the Roman empire.
It's also written in code that people of the time would understand, but has mostly been lost since. In those days, letters were quite rare among the common people. Being caught with one that openly calls for the destruction of the Roman Empire was a really quick trip to crucifixion.
To me it comes off as kind of "buck up, we're down now, but we'll be back some day."
But my favorite part is 22:18, the warning. Back in the days before the printing press, when everything was copied by hand, there was no way to ensure any one could make a new copy and alter the text. Actually it was quite common. What merchants, scholars and government agencies would do is add a copyright of sorts to the document saying if anyone altered the text in copy they would have to answer to the prince, or baron, or governor or who ever was the ruling authority.
But Christians were barely tolerated at this point, the persecutions were just starting to kick into high gear. They couldn't rely on a royal copyright warning. But they could claim protection on the authority of God.
It's a copyright warning.
I'm sure every version of the Bible did NOT escape God's eye.GB,M
Belief that the contents of the Bible were guided by the Holy Spirit is faith.
That doesn't mean there aren't human fingerprints all over it. During Mass we say "The Word of the Lord." Got me wondering, who actually decided what was the Word and there by what wasn't.
Fascinating subject, and what I learned was pretty much the exact opposite of what I thought I would find. The early Church didn't set out to purge material that didn't agree with their theology, but rather fought desperately to keep the original texts separate from texts that had no historical ties to Jesus or the disciples.
Apparently around the year 120 AD, a bunch of new supposedly secret Christian sects started popping up, each claiming to have a secret gospel, and if someone wanted to learn them they had to pay a fee and join their sect.
Those gnostic gospels are what got shut out.
I do think the Bible will outlive both the Koran and the Communist Manifesto.
GB,
M
It already has.
What I find most fascinating is its a collection of some of the oldest tales and thought in human history. Which of course means its going to be hard to understand. 5,000 Years ago every knew the world was flat, the sun rose in the east, sat in the west, and if it didn't come up in the east tomorrow, they were screwed.
They didn't understand conception, disease, or much of anything else. If some one got sick, they did something to upset God. And if they got struck by lightning, look out.
But they still thought. They tried to come up with explanations to teach the next generation where we came from and why.
Genesis 6:10, the sons of Noah, is a verbal map of the ancient middle east. Every son represents a different race in the ancient world. I have a list in one of my books, but I think Shem represents the Semites, Hem represents the Hashemites.
Fascinating book, so many secrets to learn.

What I mean is in either oral or written form, the Bible has been around for about 4 – 5,000 years. Koran about 600, the Manifesto only 160 or so.
I don't think there's any question of staying power. The Koran and the Manifesto may stay around for a while, the Bible is THE BOOK. It's not going anywhere. In my opinion that has already been proven.
AMEN Again Brother Mike!
