Yervand,
Thank you for your comment. That is very insightful on the "Godfather" reference because it's another example of this unequaled power and influence. Michael

I find the real irony to be that on a liberal form in order to write "Human" one has to check "Other".

I knew Ted Kennedy, Pelosi and Barney Frank were from another planet.

LH, the thing is, if they can put together a structure, then we can to. I think it is probably a mistake to get the structure who financed the anti-us stuff as a tax write-off or an actual loss to work with what they oppose, but a structure of supporters can be organized just as they did theirs.
While we are talking about us culture, the impact of Hollywood American works on people in totally different cultures around the world astounded me back when I was in Special Forces, and is still inspirational.

In all seriousness, given your propensity for looking at historical fact, I wonder what you think of Jefferson? And yes, I am serious and do have a reason for asking!

My start is to eliminate the phrase Federal Government from my usage. Federalism died when the 17th Amendment was ratified: the last gasp and winning gambit of Populism. Since then we have had a National government only. Federalism can not return until the States are returned to their place as envisioned by the Founders.

Up until about two years ago it was illegal (national law) to solicit race or ethnicity information as a basis for selection for employment or housing. Either something has changed or someone is violating the law.

Once in Italy under influence of red wine some filmmaker friends of mine and I stopped in a small busy village. We jumped out of the car in a little distance from the crowd gathered on the public square and immitated a vicsiuos fist fight. From ditance it looked very real because people rushed to separate us. As they were approaching us, though, we screamed "Hollywood, viva Hollywood!". The people immideately stoped and walked back realizing that we were faking it. They realized that what we meant and what they understood by "Hollywood" was it's not serious, just a special effect kind of shock value thing.
Then as we drove away I remebered a scene from "Godfather" when Italian peasants greet passing American GI's and say "America, Clark Gable". Different times different perceptions of the word "Hollywood".
Excellent article, sir.

EdGi: It's great to see that we have not all given up and surrendered the field to the left. Where there's a will, there's a way, and comments like yours make me feel that perhaps we do indeed still have the will. Thanks.
