Sarah Palin: The Horror Movie

I’ve produced, written or directed zombie movies, werewolf movies, alien invasion movies, vampire movies, serial killer movies, freaky Frankenstein movies and yes, a film about giant, mutant whooping cranes (links may be NSFW). I’ve studied, analyzed and researched how to scare people.
Clearly, if I want to scare leftists, all I have to do is hold up a picture of Sarah Palin.
Of course, the leftists will assure you that they aren’t scared of Sarah Palin. Why would they be? She’s dumb. She’s goofy. She hasn’t brushed up on the real issues. She’s a quitter. She’s not a real contender.
Whatever. After that Tea Party speech half of the DNC had to check to see if they’d wet their pants. Her book tour was more disturbing to them than the “spider walk” scene in “The Exorcist”.
But why? What makes her so scary?
If pressed, the leftists will tell you that they fear her beliefs and what they perceive her policies to be. She will take away women’s right to choose. She will ban books. She will outlaw homosexuality. She will mandate religious beliefs. She will nuke Arab countries.
When making horror films, we always start with a basic concept. In that initial stage, we will decide whether or not the film will be “fantasy horror” or “realistic horror”. A film about vampires is fantasy. A film about a normal looking guy who kills young college girls is more grounded in reality.
The fear of Sarah Palin is like the fear of ghosts, vampires, or werewolves. Pure fantasy (Please note that I didn’t include alien invasion or zombie apocalypse as fantasy because, well, those things could actually happen).
Most of these predictions of doom and gloom under a Palin regime aren’t based on any sort of facts. Palin never banned Harry Potter books. Palin vetoed an Alaskan law that would have barred the state from granting benefits to the partners of gay state employees. Palin is personally pro-life, but as governor actually refused to extend deliberation on two anti-abortion bills presented by the state legislature.
There are a lot of plot holes in the narrative. So what are they really afraid of?
What they fear is that Palin would actually stick to fiscally conservative principles. She would reform the tax laws to make them fair and rational. She would clip the influence of labor unions. She would end the unholy alliance of Big Government and Big Business. She may actually extend women’s rights to choose to include how they spend their money, where they send their kids to school, and what caliber handgun they want to buy.
Scary stuff indeed.
History shows that the boogeymen presented by the left against conservatives are always flights of fancy. We’ve had more conservative leaders than leftist ones since Roe v. Wade and last time I checked it was still legal to have an abortion. We had a born again Christian in the White House for eight years and we don’t have mandated school prayer. Despite a Reagan presidency, being gay isn’t a crime.
On the flip side, when we warn about the dangers of giving the leftists the purse strings, we’re right. I think there were more than a few conservative musings about how an Obama presidency will lead to a bunch of radicals hanging out in the oval office, an increase in taxes and regulations, a decrease in liberty, and a tanking economy. All of which are, unfortunately true.
Where are these creatures of leftist nightmares born? They come from their own subconscious. They are manifestations of leftist projection. Conservatives may have strong personal convictions, but their overriding world view dictates a minimum of government intervention. Leftists are the ones who seek to use the apparatus of government to impose their personal, social views on the rest of society. That notion is antithetical to conservative principles. Look at Global Warming hoax-master Al Gore. His entire daily agenda is based on telling others how to live. Oh, and his dad voted against the Civil Rights act and his wife led the charge to censor rock and roll.
Who’s creepy now?
Leftists are sneaky smart. They can’t beat conservatives on ideas because most people agree with conservative principles. Small government, lower taxes, less entitlements, the list goes on and on. So, like good horror film writers, the left creates monsters that tap into deep seeded emotional fears. Like a good ghost movie, these stories are scary as hell, but not very real.
The chances of a President Sarah Palin ushering in a new age of Puritanism are about as real as the threat of mutant cannibals.
So the next time some twit like Cameron Diaz says that a vote for the conservative is a vote to legalize rape, just remember, it’s only a scary story. Keep telling yourself it’s not real. Just a little piece of fiction made up to frighten you.
Unlike zombies. Now that’s a different story.

I enjoyed this article a lot. I checked out your youtube clips and especially liked the Transmorphers, especially the last scene. A rock and a hard place. You have explained the reason I am not impressed with Cameron Dias, aside from the obvious fact that she cannot act. Ok, Mask was good but that is because she did not say anything and it was her first try. I will give her that. So basically what you are saying is that proglibs are master horror script writers. I personally want to see more pics of Sarah with guns. Lots of guns. Big guns. And maybe a proglib Transmorpher behind her blown up by a light artillery weapon. Hmmmmm….. The ideas are coming fast…….

There is another reason she infests their nightmares, because the fanny-pack wearing, liberal, castrati and parakeet males in the Democrat party know they are not man enough or capable enough to ever have a Sara Palin, and the harpy-shrew militant feminists know that the existence of a Sara Palin exposes their whole moribund philosophy based on women victimization as a total sham.
And she does it all with a smile. She’s had five kids, was in labor, that’s right, labor…with one of them while giving a speech in Dallas. After all that she is still smoking hot, and how they hate her for it.
Don't forget that aside from the type of woman Palin is, the left also believes it was their Gaia-given right to have the first woman president be a liberal Democrat, so the reaction to her is roughly the same as the Labour Party's reaction to Margaret Thatcher's rise to Prime Minister in Great Britain in the late 1970s — hatred for her ideology enhanced by the hatred that the other side broke the gender barrier first, because their feminist doctrine told them that conservatives hated women and would never put them in a leadership role.

I heard this comment one day, and it made perfect sense. Look at most so called "successful" liberal women. By and large, they are successful because of their parents or their husbands. Nancy Pelosi, Jane Fonda, Sally Quinn, Hillary Clinton, Andrea Mitchell, just to name a few. Sarah Palin succeeded because of her own hard work, she didn't rely on someone else getting her into the right place at the right time.
As with so many other issues, when you look at modern feminism, it is a complete sham. They preach one thing but live something entirely different.

But she has not yet attained the all important critical mass of RESPECT. Millions have awoken to the massive CORRUPTION that dominates the government and the media. The grass-roots rising will assure the only leaders left standing are those that adhere to TRUTH AND FREE-SPEECH. I like to listen to old radio shows, master writer of terror, suspense and "Lights Out", Arch Obler, was asked what scares people the most, he replied, normal things in abnormal situations. That is why the left is so afraid of her, she's normal and in a position of influence that the average non elite American is not supposed to be in. Well, their fear is our encouragement.

Sarah Palin is being attacked because she is popular amongst conservatives. The "Narrative", as our liberal friends like to refer to it, is no different than that used against Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Chuck Norris, Phyllis Schafly, anyone from the South, and White Men. Mean Spirited because Christianity = intolerant and judgemental. Stupid, because anyone who disagrees with liberalism is a stupid dupe.
This has been going on my whole life.
I have my own opinion of why the left hates Palin.
I started getting liberal hate mails on her before McCain even officially announced her as his running mate. I hadn't even heard her name, but the big guns were already out and framing the debate before McCain/Palin knew what hit them. This was a huge, coordinated attack by trained party hacks in both politics and the MSM. They had their ammunition locked and loaded. My guess is it would have been the same for any running mate. These plans were laid out well in advance. Remember that for next time.
But why the sustained hatred? I expect the normal amount of mud to be slung in any campaign, but this was different, it was unrelenting, and it came from everywhere.
Why?
My own theory is this: I've been around long enough to remember the Reagan administrations. Dark times indeed for modern liberals – I know, I was one of them.
No matter what kind of mud was slung, nothing stuck. The Teflon president the MSM called him. Reagan has a way of getting around the MSM and speaking directly to the American voters. His two landslide victories were more than enough proof of that.
And that absolutely infuriated the left and the MSM. Their biggest guns, the MSM, were essentially benched for 8 years. And the MSM hasn't forgotten that, which is why you still here a derisive tone when they comment on Reagan.
I think what they fear most about Sarah is she reminds them of Reagan with respect to her ability to communicate with voters by going around the MSM. And with the MSM crumbling before our eyes, and the rise of the new alternative media, they're in panic mode. They are on the verge of losing their media monopoly (in my opinion they've already lost it), and so they're pulling out all the stops to destroy before she gets too popular.
And they are going to lose that battle. You could say they've already lost it. But that won't stop them from trying.
People are fleeing the from the Progressive Movement like they should be fleeing from Gaylord Entertainment stock. Anyone within the BIGs should know that stock is ALPO. Rat ship.
GET out. They had to sell that junk to someone and my guess it was gobbled up by a slew of kiss arse-ers. Sure it has "upside potential" and so does Greece. Take profits.

Political success usually depends on the most believable lie being told to the majority of the voters. Palin is sincere in her beliefs and steady in her resolve and it threatens the status quo. The last time that happened was with Ronald Reagan.

Excellent article … I trust your expertise on this, but I would peg the "Sarah horror" flick as one that involves an ordinary person suddenly becoming an ax murderer. Sarah does seem so ordinary on the outside. I think people have to either mock her as a dumb rube or an evil genius. How do those two caricatures reside in one body?
Many above have described why the Left can't get enough of piling on Sarah Palin. She is pro-gun, pro-life, pro-middle class and the antithesis of the stereotypical female politician. [Think of Barbara Boxer with her pinched face, sour look and humorless bullying manner.] However I think that Ms. Palin should read David Broder's column today (Boy – There's a sentence I never thought I'd write.) He warns her against being too "drawn in" to the cheers and affection she receives from those in the Tea Party movement and losing perspective. Broder accurately points out that Palin has been the subject of a brutal smear campaign by the Left and that she would be less than human if she didn't seek comfort in the continuing cheers of her own followers.
She should avoid this and continue to travel, learn and confront those who are cool to her and even her outright opponenets. I think that she is smart enough to realize this but she should remember the line whispered into the ear of triumphant ous generals in classical Rome – "All glory is fleeting."

I appreciate your candor about the kooks on both sides, but I'd like to propose a slightly different scenario about what makes Palin scary to the so-called "reasonable" people. Palin is fiscally conservative to her CORE. I've met her. I've heard her speak in person, and what screams out is her innate libertarianism. Growing up in the last frontier she is all about self-reliance. At every turn in her career she has resisted the cushy perks of government office and rejected increased government involvement in people's lives. That scares the ruling class and their parasitic dependents at the Big Government teet. She is an existential threat to their status quo.
She can't act and the older she gets, the more her face looks like it's melting.

And other than ill-considered legislative pitches to ban flag burning, I've never heard of anyone trying to criminalize artistic obscenity. There have been attempts to restrict the access of minors to 'art' which we as a society deem obscene, and there have been attempts to defund the NEA (something which entirely makes sense, we shouldn't be paying people to not contribute to society).
Incidentally, I am an atheist, pro-choice (with restrictions) Conservative who only thinks that 'gay marriage' should be decided by the electorate. Oh, and that the NEA should be defunded. Get a job.

Palin seems to be one of the few who can cut through the veil the Democrats have up that manages to convince people that black is white, up is down, Democrats were responsible for civil rights and Republicans were against it, Republicans want to starve children and eat babies, Democrats care about the middle class, etc etc..

Oh I agree with you and think they're both wrong, thats why i actively come here and debate with people who bring content to their arguments. If I wanted to just hear people agreeing with me I'd talk to myself.

Maybe I misspoke or didn't make myself clear. I think what makes her threatening is that she appeals to all kinds of conservatives the reasonable and the unreasonable.
what i mean by that 'word' reasonable is generally all those who'll actually debate about an issue and those who just blindly swallow soundbites that they can regurgitate to their friends.

You mean the per diem she was perfectly entitled to by law (and cheaper than an Anchorage hotel while the governor's mansion was being repaired)? Oh, and the RNC clothes. Yes, the clothes she didn't ask for, didn't purchase, and didn't keep. Even the NY Times reported on this … finally, interviewing the NY designer hired by the McCain team, the one who bought the clothes for Palin because they didn't think her clothes were "good enough."

Reminds me of when was in a well-known university in Ohio in the mid 80's. I had started the "Trap and Skeet" club there as a freshman, placing an ad in the school newspaper hoping to attract others who love the sport. Along with a huge amount of interest from fellow shooters, apparently I had ruffled some ignorant pinko feathers. The following week, there was an "editorial" published in the school newspaper. The editorial was written by a leftist PETA-type person who called me all kinds of names and condemned me "for wanting to trap poor, defenseless animals – and shoot them". I kid you not! Boy, I had the BEST TIME explaining just what trap shooting really was when "journalists" from the school paper came banging on my door for an answer. Actually, come to think of it, it was the journos writing up my interview who had more fun with the young lady, than had I.
Well, thanks. I think you just about covered our core beliefs / sarc. So, "guest", which ones can you prove wrong, other than the idiotic #3? He hasn't quite gotten around to #4 yet, but we conservatives are a patient bunch. After all, you have to let out half a breath, then squuuueeeeze – not pull.
