Not much actually goes to meat. So eating plants take ~10x less plants killed than a meat diet. Also, if there were more veg*ns, then the animals wouldnt be forced to reproduce so much --> less animals --> less CO2 released. The expansion of agricultural land accounts for more than 60 per cent of worldwide deforestation. Most of this land is used to graze beef cattle. Huge trees absorb a lot more CO2 than food plants. Non-CO2 problems of meat is the waste of energy and resources (1/3 of america's), they are responsible for more water pollution than all other industries combined and their usage of antibiotics (~80% of antibiotics used in the US are used on factory farm animals) lead to drug resistant bacteria. Also i do not know any veg*ns who are unhealthy- although many of Americans are obese and/or have heart disease due to their high meat diets.
