Megan Fox: Another Cowardly Conformist Who Makes Things Worse for Women in Hollywood

“I don’t want to have to go on talk shows and pull out every single S.A.T. word I’ve ever learned, to prove, like, ‘Take me seriously, I am intelligent, I can speak.’ I don’t want to have to do that. I resent having to prove that I’m not a retard.”
And…
“Women are expected to be conformist automatons in L.A. but in Britain you can be more yourself and people will take you on face value.”
Far be it from me to point out that the base audience for “Transformers” is young males in Middle America, the same men that Fox condemns to a robot apocalypse. I doubt the bi-coastal elites from Beverly Hills to the Upper West Side will be waiting in line for the midnight showing of Michael Bay’s latest opus. Alienating your core audience is never a good idea. Perhaps Ms. Fox holds an associate’s degree from the Timothy Geithner School of Business Management.
Fox asserts that she is “not a retard” and that she bucks the system by not being a “conformist.” Is it bad for me to call foul on both points?
I learned something a long time ago. Back in my fraternity days at USC (oops, man, did I just give the Huffington Post ammo?… A USC FRAT BOY!!!!!! No wonder…) I noticed how the guys who constantly bragged about their sexual prowess really didn’t do too well. The guys who were discrete, never bragged, never felt the need to prove anything, had a steady stream of attractive dates and girlfriends. The braggarts would spend their weekends regaling in tales of three ways and sex with strippers while drinking forty-ouncers and challenging each other to games of “Street Fighter” on the Super NES.
The same goes for intelligence. When you feel compelled to tell the world how smart you are, how intellectual your positions are, how deep your education runs, the sad truth is that you probably aren’t that bright.
Megan Fox is a panderer. She trashes Middle America to the British Press. She wears “Star Wars” T-shirts to make Fan Boys drool, then calls those Fan Boys “retards” to the hipsters in Silver Lake. She talks up her intelligence and non-conformity…. by making stupid, conformist statements.
Lauren Bacall made this observation about Hollywood: “When I first went into pictures, women absolutely ran the show. Bette Davis practically owned Warner Brothers.” Bacall doesn’t know many of the stars of today. “They’re all too self-involved, y’know? And they’re so unaware of what goes on anywhere else.”
Hmmmm…is there any way that we can draw a parallel between the rise of “correct” thought in Hollywood as evidenced by self-absorbed automatons like Megan Fox and the observation that Hollywood used to be BETTER for women? Is it, perhaps, that whiny divas who parrot talking points to look cool, who lack independent thought and rely on their good looks instead of honing their craft, have made Hollywood WORSE for women? That may be a stretch. Maybe I need some self-professed smart person to help me make that argument.
Bacall, Bette Davis, Katherine Hepburn, Joan Crawford…these women are legends. Not just because they are superior, gifted actresses, but because you can feel their presence, their intellect, their “moxie” in every thing they did.

I have a friend. An actress. The one pictured above that you might not recognize. Her resume is similar to Fox’s, before her lucky break in “Transformers.” This actress is not an automaton. Her politics are a unique blend of feminism, social liberalism, libertarianism, and hawkish neo-conservatism. She has a business degree from BYU, although she’s never mentioned it to anyone to further her “smart” credentials. When she walks into a party she doesn’t instantly turn the conversation into a discourse on her sexual habits a la Ms. Fox, nor does she sit by and let a comment about that “fascist George Bush” go by without a rebuttal.
Yet while Megan Fox was busy being pampered on the set of “Transformers,” this actress worked with me on the direct to video knock-off movie “Transmorphers.” While Megan Fox sat in her trailer waiting for make-up, this actress did her own make-up, then stood outside in the freezing rain for 12 hours in an old junkyard near Topanga. While Megan Fox pocketed hundreds of thousands of dollars, this actress got paid $50 a day. No complaints. No crying. Just smiles and hard work.
Yes, Megan Fox, women in Hollywood still face issues and obstacles. But not in the way that you think. While you are gaming the system, being part of the problem and not the solution, others are advancing the cause despite you.
I know a couple of other actresses like my friend. They feel alienated, blacklisted, and closed off. Not because they are as attractive as Megan Fox and people can’t get past their looks. Not solely because of the male stranglehold on Hollywood. They feel out of place because they have “balls.”
And the last thing you want to be in the tolerant world of Hollywood is a woman with “balls.”
Megan Fox is clearly lacking a pair.

She is another example of the so called understanding and accepting liberal. They demand that we accept their immoral behavior but they seem unaccepting of others who they do not agree with. It also demonstrates her lack of intelligence because I find her comments rather vulger and I would not see her Transformer movie just because of it. Hollywooders would do themselves and their wallets a lot of good if they keep their opinions to themselves. Otherwise, they are going to take a hit in the box office! Not so smart Ms. Fox.
I'd think while the first two quotes won't cause Megan any problems among her peeps, the last quote:

…might be a problem, because she's attacking the Los Angeles culture, and not the hicks in the sticks. On the other hand, the Hollywood types will simply say A.) She's hot, and B.) She's probably talking about the rubes in Simi Valley and Orange County and not us, and let it pass, because Fox is so with them on the other conservative-bashing issues.
In fifteen years, Ms. Fox will be on the current Celebrity Big Brother. Her facelift, boob job and morals are exactly why she deserves this coveted role.

the big mistake that is being made here is 1) we are associating beauty with brains; and 2) we actually really care what this dunderhead thinks… she is absolutely the cookie cutter conformity she claims not to be, and not terribly bright either, despite her SAT scores. Fox is all surface and no substance. One difference, of many, between Fox and the greats of Hollywood like Bacall, Crawford, and Davis is her body of work. Let's see, she's participated in such epics as, Transformers 1&2, Whore, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, and the upcoming Jonah Hex. No doubt the selections of a intellectual, emotional, and spiritual giant. She really should grow up and lose the rebellious angry pout.
Let's not ask too much from Ms. Fox. She is a pretty face with, most likely, average intelligence. Reporters ask guestions looking for a gotcha' moment and too often people, in all walks of life, fall for the bait. Tomorrow it will be something else. Hollywood always has and will likely remain: "not how you feel…but how you look!" And Fox looks marvelous…for now.

The new movie will do just fine. See, hollyweird is so ingrained in the American mind that big budget films will earn a little less money at most by this. Fanboys don't care what the stars say so much as she is hot and the robots blow things up. It will gain most money overseas where viewers agree with the liberal stars views of the United States citizens. The biggest problem with Hollyweird is that they don't have to worry about the pocket book. when you make a quarter of a billion dollars just by existing, losing a few million here and there doesn't matter.
My solution has always been conservatives should care less about Hollyweird and create and sponsor their own projects. Only by having an alternative Hollywood can Hollywierd be bothered by flyover country and conservatives. It isn't enough to complain about the liberal movies. If someone likes movies then they will see them because at least there are movies; even if they become more picky on what ones to see. Petitions and boycotts don't work (and often backfire), but competition does. Where is the competition? I want to see the competition!

No denying she's a beautiful girl, but some of that beauty has been tarnished with the ugliness within. I predict that one or more of the following will happen to Ms. Fox:
1. She will develop Lohan syndrome. She'll have a few high profile relationships sprinkled with some lesbian activity and wind up as the tabloid queen eventually ending up in rehab.
2. She will be replaced by another beautiful girl as the most fawned over hottie actress. The roles in big budget movies will dry up and she'll end up doing Penthouse or softcore porn.
3. She'll come to her senses, apologize for her lunacy, and realize that she is madly in love with Hank Scorpio….

Funny thing about all of this, Transformers was all about "Middle America" The ones that stand up and do the heavy lifting. Be it Soldiers or the Kid with a Junk car that wants better in life and is willing to work for it. No Doubt Megan is a very pretty young lady. Its sad that actors go out of their way to blow off half the Movie going public if not more. I say Transformers, more out of having some thing to do one evening, it was pretty good. I was surprised. I had planned on seeing part 2, but I just may wait it its on DVD or better yet on TV. The people who make movies are not the brightest in the room, if they were Megan would have be told don't shoot your mouth off in this matter. This is about box office and making a ton of money. She cost the people who put up the money for this movie a bunch of cash. Other than that she is nice to look at, I don't think she would be all that fun to be around thou.

I definitely don't think anyone should boycot Transformers over this. If its anything like the first one its one of the few pro America movies we have. Just watch out for the Megan Fox "brand" and avoid movies she's in unless there's some compelling reason to go. Sort of everyone's soft boycott of hollywood rather than a hard boycott.

In this country we believe one may rise as far as their developed innate abilities may take them. While it may be possible to be born without the ability to develop sufficient social understanding to have "class," it should be manifestly obvious that practically everyone is born with it yet many simply do not develop it, prime example being modern Hollywood. The studios of old actually trained their stars on how to appear in public, thus they are fondly remembered.
Under the right circumstances with the proper dosing of humility even Ms. Fox may develop "class," granted I am not expecting it anytime soon. I will do my part towards providing the humility by ignoring her movie.

For nearly each one of these Hollywood pretty girls, there's at least one man who is heartily sick of them. Another observation: while a few of the "classic" actresses of the '30's-to-50's period, aged like fine wine, others, like Ms. Lohan and Ms. Garofalo (and like Ms. Fox probably will), aged like milk and soon disappeared from the public eye. I once leafed through a gossip magazine from the mid-'50's – it mentioned actors and actresses I've never heard of in TV shows and movies that I've never seen. Remember Anissa Jones, the young, cute actress who played the part of "Buffy" in the TV show, "A Family Affair", with Brian Keith and Sebastian Cabot in the late-'60's? Within five years after the show went off the air, she was dead from a drug overdose.

That was a great movie — probably the best Ben Stiller movie in years. And RD Jr. did an incredible job! There were times I even forgot who he was.

Keeping in mind Ms. Fox's breakout role was playing second fiddle to a bunch of giant CGI robots that turn into vehicles, fight eachother, and cause massive amounts of property damage. I enjoyed the first movie and would go see the second, provided they don't load this one down with the typical Hollywood "messages". Keep it simple, "These are the bad guys, they want to destroy everything, they need to be stopped."

Megan Fox is just the typical Hollywood starlet who has a small measure of success and now thinks she's prepped for bigger and better things. She forgot that she only got as far as she did for one reason– she's the hot chick. Girls who build their careers on being eye candy rarely make the leap into roles that were intended for Cate Blanchett because lets face it, Fox couldn't carry Blanchett's purse. I'm guessing that all this take me seriously talk is her way of trying, and failing, to prove that she's ready to do more than the hot-chick roles. But I think that's all she's capable of– and those have a short shelf-life.

Davis, Bacall, Hepburn, and many other actresses worked their tails off throughout their careers. They weren't doormats; they were respected by those who knew them and had the honor of working with them. It took decades of work; good roles, bad roles, and even 'please burn these' parts; but they became legends.
Ms Fox will be lucky before she hits 40 to have a half-dozen roles that people will remember her for. After her 'fame' wears out (which usually means the next sexy young thing gets the parts she would have gotten), she'll be lucky to do infomercials and the paychecks she makes now from her jobs will quickly disappear.
I look forward to Megan Fox promoting Transformers by sitting with David Letterman and both of them laughing boisterously over the people in America they wish would die. Something to look forward to. A meeting of the minds?
