Postwar Nazi conspirator Claude Rains has discovered his beloved wife is spying on him for the CIA, and whimpers to his mother that his wary colleagues will eliminate him for his folly. The mother responds that their suspicions of him would never reach the height that he actually married an American agent, adding, “We are protected by the enormity of your stupidity.”
This country may now have the same reprieve. We elected the most liberal senator in Congress as President, a man of no economic, military, or practical accomplishment who promised to “fundamentally transform America.” Observant citizens, alas too few, knew Obama would try to impose a radical leftist agenda on the nation against the wishes of its central right majority.
But even those who ignored his record; attentiveness to racist Reverend Wright, association with terrorist Bill Ayers, voting down the Induced Infant Liability Act to protect babies who survive late-term abortions, supporting a filibuster against Judge Alito’s Supreme Court bid, and many other hints; could hardly imagine his progressive onslaught on this nation.
It has brought, so far, a $787-billion “stimulus” package with no private business incentives, government ownership of a US car dealer, a job-killing “cap and trade” bill that punishes manufacturers by taxing carbon dioxide (which humans exhale and plants photosynthesize), more than 30 taxpayer-funded extra-Constitutional czars, a citizen-on-citizen “snitch” website, support for a Hugo Chavez-wannabe in Honduras against that nation’s Constitution-heeding democratic government, silence in the face of a brutal Iranian regime massacring its freedom-hungry citizens, Justice Department investigations of anti-terrorist interrogators previously cleared by the Justice Department, and, the piece de resistance, a $1.6-trillion-plus government takeover of health care that Obama tried and failed to ram through Congress last July.
Had Obama been less arrogant, less hostile to grassroots opposition, less mendacious in his endless staged and stacked appearances, he would be a lot farther along in his desired radicalization of the country. Had he begun his term with the health care Trojan Horse instead of a disastrous pork-laden “stimulus” scam, there would be no stopping him now. Luckily, his ideological contempt for traditional Americans; the “clinging to their God and guns” crowd that now confounds him at every turn; will be his undoing. Approval of the President and his programs has sunk to record lows.
It wasn’t supposed to go this way. Obama has the rich and powerful in his pocket: insurance companies, corporations (like GE), pressure groups (AARP, AMA, ACORN), unions, and all media save one non-fawning cable news network and an archaic AM radio band. The once handy Republicans he demonizes as obstructionists are today more like ancient Christians cowering in the catacombs, unable to thwart a single extremist bill, judge, or czar. They don’t make straw men like they used to.
No, it is the American people who have thrown a monkey wrench in the Obamachine. They stand there in the thousands, unnerving elitist politicians with their passionate criticisms. They convey to squirming Senators, Congresspersons, and Cabinet officials God’s commandment to Isaiah. “This shall not stand and this shall not be!”
Obama’s political and media lackeys fire back with cliched venom, branding grandmothers, veterans, housewives and other concerned citizens as rabid racist “teabagging” swastika-carrying Astroturf organized peons. Who are they to question the chosen one’s plans? But they are just ordinary Americans who have drawn a line in the sand to defend their individual liberties. Obama might have crossed that line with feigned humility. He just didn’t have it in him.
We are protected by the enormity of our stupidity. But unlike President Obama, we will soon correct our folly.

We just need to make sure that this new conservative, liberty-driving, capitalistic, free-market movement is not just about one messiah, but his administration, his media, and his "protectors." As well as the entire elitist legislature, including both parties. The fact that you mentioned insurance companies and GE is quite correct. A novice might consider them businesses and therefore capitalists, but upon deeper inspection, it becomes clear that big business wants no part of competition and will gladly move toward a fascist government if it means that politicians have deemed those companies as the beneficenaries of Obama, the Benevolent & Merciful.
In my perfect world, most of Congress and 1/3 of the Senate will get kicked to the curb in 2010. In 2012 Great Leader can follow them out the door. And that will be the last of that grand experiment.

Thank God, the only thing more enormous than our stupidity is their arrogance. And the only thing stronger than their conspiracy is the power of truth itself. Don't mean to sound overly axiomatic, but it's true. The bolder they become, the faster their house will crumble. They've revealed themselves for who they are, and the truth is becoming manifest to even the Moronic Middle who elected this man. I don't mean to sound smug–we still have to keep up the pressure and never let up, but today I'm optimistic about the ultimate future of this country for the first time in years. (to paraphrase Michelle O.) Here's even better news: after we kick them out at mid-term, we'll all understand more clearly than we have in years the crucial difference between a liberal and a conservative.

As I've stated in comments before, the people are Obama's Achilles' heel. If he can be made to believe that the people are genuinely against him (and as a narcissist, any opposition to his will is seen as a personal attack), he will lash out at us, revealing his true colors. That is our best hope at ridding ourselves of his mad dream and, at least for a time, the Party's machinations. We must goad the left's chosen one, their best and brightest, into exposing how small, vicious, duplicitous, and grasping he truly is.
We are fortunate that this administration took the straight forward and fast attack method. Had they tried to incrementally advance their agenda, it might have slipped past the casual voter. They were so sure of themselves in thinking, no one but the most ardent Conservative would care or notice. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

They had the frog in the pot. All they had to do was spend the next four or eight years turning up the heat little by little. By the time the great unwashed realized what was being done, the US would have been fundamentaly changed, just like he said he wanted to do. All would have been groovy in liberal land, but alas, appalling arrogance has derailed the train enroute to the happy land of socialism. They turned up the heat too fast, the frog jumped out of the pot, looked and saw that the emperor has no clothes.
The danger now is that the establishment, (the media, academia, all the usual suspects), will close ranks to keep the Democrat party from being devasted for years.

Excellent post, I just hope your right. Obama and his cartel of commies, radicals and followers are not going to give up easy. They might just shelve the Health bill and go on to the drastic commie take over of our Educational System. Not that it is very far from that now. Or maybe they will double down on the Cap and Trade which promises to not only bankrupt America but usher in International rule under Obama's reign.
May I expound on how I think we got to this terrible moment in our young Republic?
But first, Obama does understand the incremental nature of legislation, but he also has been taught the Chicago way of doing business in politics, and he has backers and handlers that understand it even more. The dirty tricks dept not only extends to elections, false registrations and vote fraud, but to Chicago dirty tricks in not only the Senate and the House, but in the back rooms of Lobbyists, Progressive Support Groups such as Acorn but also Corporations and Unions.
OK…When Americans (or at least a majority of those that vote) finally come to the realization that our Republic (NOT designed nor meant to be a Democracy) has strayed far from the path that our Founders intended. When those Americans finally understand what our Founders feared would happen, has indeed happened slowly and steadily over the last fifty or so years, Obama, Reid, Pelosi and others like them will never be reelected. Or you would think so, wouldn't you? But let me ramble on here a minute or so, because if we go by our past record, it shows that term limits are never set by the voters, except in very extreme circumstances..
In the LAST nine or so years, it took an out of control federal government spending our money and lots of it to FINALLY get (some of us) our attention. while it (getting our attention) should have happened over these last fifty or so years, it didn't because it was a slow and steady drain of our liberty and stealthy building of government theft and accumulation of powers. There are still millions of Americans that don't know or care a twit about politics but just vote the party line or even worse…don't vote at all.
Our Founder's not only warned us against all this, but wrote rules and regulations in our Bill of Rights (and it's Preamble), our Constitution, and inscribed in other important papers meant to warn, prepare and enable us to protect the Republic for which they stood, died for and wanted for all of their future generations of Americans.
So over these years, we have allowed the slow destruction of our Founder's vision, their plan and their hopes for our Republic- by our inability to understand and stop those like Reid, Obama and their host of radical thugs posing as politicians and the incompetents posing as journalists. Or by just not paying attention and/or caring about "politics".
Now we are at the point where all of the years we neglected and forgot our responsibilities to our Republic are going to finally allow the complete destruction and END of our Republic. Maybe that is seen to be best by some like the ones in power now.
But has been seen the last month or so, Americans attention has been not only raised, but also their long held anger.
I pray in the next year or so there are many millions more Americans that will voice their opinion and vote accordingly.

If Barrack Obama is the pathological narcissist that many say he is then as his popularity decreases the more dangerous he will become. Who paid attention to the revolutionary radicals of the late 60s/70s during the last 30-40 years? I certainly did not. Their failure to change the system from the outside provided them the same lesson that Hitler learned: get inside the system and use it's power to bring the desired revolution.
There is hope! The Presidential candidacy of Ron Paul and his message touched something in the hearts/minds of countless young people in this nation in spite of the voracious onslaught of leftist ideas from the media and schools. He tapped into what we see stirring in the hearts and minds of the middle class and the elderly as they take to the streets and town halls protesting the over-reach of government. There lies the hope for our country's return to founding Constitutional principles.
Very well stated Mr. Aquilar, I will be sharing your wise words. I voted for McCain but after listening to so many of Obama's followers and of course the media, praising him as a unifier and his centrist ideas I decided that after all he is our president I should give him a chance. And wham the first thing he did was to appoint Rahm Emanuel as his chief of staff, the most divisive and nasty Republican hater in DC. It has just been one attack on our country after another, I wonder every night what attrocity awaits me in the morning. I at least have one little bit of comfort, knowing I was right all along.

He said: "The timid civilized world has found nothing with which to oppose the onslaught of a sudden revival of barefaced barbarity, other than concessions and smiles."

Lou, I hope you are correct in your optimism, however I fear that we may be doomed by our ignorance. So few have any real understanding of the political context or the historical precedent for the things that the current administration is attempting to accomplish. Throughout history communism has NEVER been instituted without political violence. These fools in the admin and in academia know this but guess what, in their eyes its all a means to an end. Even if a little blood has to be spilled. One of the first steps in this direction is to demonize the opposition, therefore they are less than human and easily discounted when they start disappearing from their homes. Hope I'm wrong, but according to history this has a real chance to blow up in everyone's face.
Obama promised change, and this is the one promise he is doing his socialist best to make good on.
Obama voters did not recognize that change could be for the worse, in part because of their own stupidity, and in part because of a MSM and democrat party whipping up hatred of Bush at every opportunity, so that when Obama was presented, his best and only feature was, so far as they were concerned, he wasn't Bush.
So, Obama voters, you are seeing now what change your leader and the dems have in store for you. Would that you could suffer whatever consequences arise out of your stupidity by yourselves without dragging the rest of us down with you.

I've been hoping the same thing for over a year. I've been praying for that, and during the campaign hoped that someone in the government had some sense and was closely watching the traitors. Instead, what I saw was everyone giving him a green light. We can laugh at the birthers all we want, but the simple truth remains that official examination of his citizenship status might have yielded enough information and might have sown enough doubt in the minds of Americans to have stopped him.
Could the State of Hawaii be an unwitting and innocent helper in perpetrating a fraud? Yes. In fact, Obama is hiding his life and has always done so. A bit more scrutiny might have made the difference, even if it turned out he was born in Hawaii.
What also saves us is Obama's personality — the same non-threatening personality to swing voters (as opposed to, say, an Al Sharpton type of personality) that allowed him to be elected in the first place makes him too much of a wimp to challenge the angriest, take-no-prisoners ideologues among his supporters on the left. They're the people who decided they didn't want to gradually enact their agenda, and wanted to push everything through before the end of the year, and Obama's too afraid of being in conflict with his core supporters to stop them.
Actually, this is a great example of why Obama can't change, because people on the left actually think he is a moderate with what he's doing right now, and Barack hates conflict within his own group of core supporters so much, he'd crap in his pants if he had to tell the left "no" on their pet issues like single-payer, card check, cap & trade or investigating and prosecuting the CIA (and eventaully of course, Bush, Cheney and Rove).
As long as the left keeps complaining that Obama's moving too far to the right, and as long as Barack is scared to tell the left to pound sand on their pet projects, he's not going to change course, and his poll numbers are going to continue to plunge.

What's really sad is the Press KNEW this. He treated the reporters that rode with him on the campagn trail like total trash, kept them in hte dark and isolated, played them over and over. But they STILL pretended he was the chosen one.
All you had to do was see that he sat in that church for that long listening to that nonsense. I told my coworkers who are mostly all AA that if my priest ever said anything like that to me or my children I would be out of there forever. It was funny, because the ones who were born here and are in the union all said I didn't like him because he was black, but an equal number of AA's from Africa (not in unions and often working 2 jobs) agreed with me. Another funny thing is that alot of the AA's in the union don't like the Africans and my African friends told me that it was because the former are spoiled and lazy and the Africans don't have the time of day for them. I too am concerned this administration is going to try to make a crisis, or use a crisis to enact marshall law and try to take away everyone's rights. What to do if this happens?

We have no press to speak of- Fox is not dead serious and hard hitting for most of the day and night. Also, the tentacles of the left mentioned and alluded to in other posts will regrow unless people are educated about how the left works. They have done major damage in the public schools especially robbing the students' confidence of their own common sense.
Better yet, take over both houses in 2010 and IMPEACH the liar in chief!

Absolutely the WORST president of my lifetime. For consevatives he is what we thought he was–A Marxist Manchurian Candidate. Words are hard to articulate when describing the ineptness or cunningness(?) of this leftist wannabe dictator. Our media and educational system has enabled the fraud that is the radical left and the blind hero worship of Obama is one of the most pathetic examples of our penchant for cult of personality.The Roman leaders had a phrase, Bread and Circus, to use as a template to manifest apathy in their subjects. Keep them fed and entertained. Sadly too many Americans have fell for the same trick.

WoooHooooo! Great post, although I must not claim to be a part of the general stupidity in this country. Anytime I see a candidate on tv that makes we want to hurl my half eaten dinner, I don't vote for that candidate. There's been a lot of them lately. God Bless the ones who don't cause that reaction. I will say that we are going to have to watch EVERYONE in office in this nation very very closely from now on. And let us all do some research before we vote, shall we?

Fixing the country? By running up a multi-trillion dollar debt in pork and payoffs that your kids and grandkids won't even be able to pay the interest on? Check out some other countries that have gone down this road. Cronic unemployment way over 10%. Hyper inflation. Real taxes on income and goods close to 50% of family income. Home-ownership almost non-exxistant. Half of families don't own a car, can't afford one. Man, all China has to do is call in our mega-debt notes, the Obama house of cards will collapse, and economic conditions in the US will make Cuba look like the promised land.
Why do you think the White House took over total control of the Census, and hired ACORN to run it? Major redistricting coming, to stack the odds. Going to make Iran's last election look honest, compared to what is planned here.

Unfortunately the self-inflicted wounds never completely heal: thanks to Wilson we have the income tax and the Federal Reserve; FDR inflicted Social Security and an all-powerful Federal government on us; LBJ's destructive Great Society remains in place and will soon bankrupt us all. Even Jimmy Carter, feckless as he was, planted the Community Reinvestment Act time-bomb which detonated last year; and castrated the intelligence community with repercussions right down to 9/11.
So, yes, the patron saint of drunks, children and Ted Kennedy (but I repeat myself) will, in fact is as we speak, help Americans to throw out Soros' sock-puppet. But what lasting damage and systemic pathologies will be left behind, uncured?
I'm not sure enough Americans are truely awake just yet. Maybe a light slumber now, better then the coma they have been in. Try and wake as many as you can. Unfortunatetly, we don't have the magic red pill blue pill option to offer. Until there is a true "holocaust", 'purge ', or "cultural revolution" to be hung around the socialists' necks, will people take the action needed? Obama offers a visible focus, but long term success can only come from tearing down those who created him. I'm not sure what constitutional methods are available to tear down these institutions.
Can't charge him with "giving aid and comfort to the enemy" based on his great American apology tour, his Cairo speech, or any of the other excrement that has poured from his mouth these past seven months? I'm sure he's committed treason AT LEAST twice.
