		<description>Damn, that was funny. But I feel at pains to point out that, while I agree it needn&#039;t have been taxpayer funded, Andres Serrano&#8217;s &quot;Piss Christ&quot; was a visually remarkable and emotionally moving work of art.  
  
For real.  
  
The piece was a commentary on the beauty of Jesus&#039; message, shining through the fetid sewage of Church and dogma. As you can see, the crucifix is glowing as if lit from within, while the marred surface of the vessel adds to the sense of it being an unreachable thing of beauty as seen from a damaged world.  
  
Anyway: you&#039;re all going to diss me now and tell me what an idiot I am for admiring the piece; but I found it, then and now, to be a worthwhile and significant work of art. </description>
