WORLD just posted an interview with the cast and crew of "The Stoning of Soraya M."

This is an excellent comment by the film's lead actor Jim Caviezel (Passion of the Christ):

For his part, Caviezel says that as a Christian, he believes he has a special impetus to get involved in movies like Soraya because believers have been given a mandate to speak out against injustice regardless of who it might offend. "In the West we say, 'Oh, it's Shariah law and who are we to impose our religious values on them?' I think that's an evil deception. Those people are human beings, they have the imprint of God in them, so what does that tell us we should do? What does the Good Samaritan story tell us we should do? Chant some politically correct line so as not to upset anybody? I don't think that's the model Christ gives us."

Considering what's now happening in Iran, is that timely or what?

I am glad to see this film come out. Then our dear women's organizations and Human Right's activists can't ignore the truth and neither can Obama.

As an American with an Iranian family who, after the Revolution, left quickly and lost everything to do so, it is good that the truth emerges so freedom can come to these people

I certainly agree with everything you said. Freedom for women is one of the biggest issues and because of this I will certainly watch this movie. Advancing freedom for women would change so many things for the better in the middle east. I just think it would be nice to be able to make a movie about a middle east leader where half the story doesn't need to be left out. I just don't think we should be propping up people that were involved in the slayings of thousands of people and the creation of a nuclear weapons program that will create so many more problems in the world, even if we can both agree that womens rights in the region need to be advanced.

I know it. But the movie is about a horrific problem in many Middle Eastern countries. In one sense it is not just about this woman specifically, but rather just one story that so many unfortunate women have to endure.

Pamela Geller has an article on her website about the abuse women suffer in these countries. From acid, to stoning, to being raped, murdered, or set on fire; these women are abused for the most trivial things, and in the most severe ways. And I am all for this movie if for no other reason than for the world to know we cannot let these things happen, and we must be vigilant in protecting those who cannot protect themselves.

I was waiting to see if anyone remembered her recent attacks on those of us who have chosen to be Christians. To say that I was offended by her attacks, (because there have been far more than just one), is an extreme understatement.

With very much respect to Mr. Simpson, you need to perform some research on Ms. Parker. Maybe then you can understand why so many of us are upset with her being selected to write about this subject. Make sure you add her pal Sally Quinn to the research.

She has maligned not just Sarah Palin, but Conservative women everywhere. She has said some of the most vile things about Palin, and those of us who found her an attractive candidate. None of her comments have ever had any merit, or justification for their tone. Quite honestly, her comments have been on the same level as David Letterman and Bill Maher. She may not have used the exact adjectives, but the implication was definitely there.

In fact, I passed by this article several times because she wrote it. Kensington could not be more correct.

I have no objection to having people from opposing views here. The Left can be a tool for keeping us honest, ready to debate intelligently, and they in many ways drive us to know our reasons for why we believe what we believe. BUT this is not one of those times. This woman has no credibility when it comes to speaking about this topic. She has no business speaking about an issue about abuse towards women because she herself has viciously attacked women she believes are beneath her, or have faith in God.

She can go on and shout from the mountain tops how those here feel about her. She can make fun of us, call us names, and say we are the most ignorant and closed minded people on the planet. I frankly do not give a damn.

I will see the movie. I was aware of it because of Ed Morrisey, Rush and Laura Ingraham.
