Video Exclusive: A Revealing Morning With Sarah Palin
by John ZieglerIf someone told me five months ago that in early January I would pay over $1,400 for an incredibly inconvenient plane ticket and $120 for a 3 a.m. cab fare to get from sunny Los Angeles to Wasilla, Alaska, I would have told them there was a better chance the Dow Jones would be below 9,000 and a gallon of gas less than two dollars.
If they would have told me I’d be glad to have made the journey (even with a seven-hour, weather-aided stop in Seattle), I would have told them Sarah Palin had a better chance to be John McCain’s running-mate. Of course, as we all now know this turned out to be true. And even though I still have the flu I got just before the trip, I’m thrilled to have experienced minus-eleven degrees in Alaska.
Obviously, I was there to interview Governor Palin for my forthcoming documentary about the media coverage of election 2008. My understanding is that the only reason Governor Palin did this interview (while rejecting hundreds of other requests) is because of her sincere devotion to setting the record straight on what really happened during the campaign and to determine why the news coverage was as dangerously slanted as it so clearly was.
Largely because of absurd claims by Democrats that she was violating ethics rules by answering campaign questions on state grounds (one of several ways in which the Democrats in Alaska, who used to love her, are now fully invested in the “take Sarah Palin down” industry), we did the interview at the Palin home. At 9 a.m., without a security guard or handler in sight, Bristol Palin, eight days removed from giving birth, politely answered the door and Governor Palin, not yet fully put together, rushed out to tell myself and my crew to make ourselves at home.
One of the things you quickly learn when you visit the Palins is that the legend created around who they are and how they live is no myth. It appears to be absolutely real and everything about them seems 100% sincere. From the stuffed hunting trophies on the wall, to Track’s military photo by the TV set, to Piper’s crayon school projects on the refrigerator door – everything is exactly as you imagined.
What’s particularly valuable about my perspective is that I am not Charlie Gibson, Matt Lauer or Greta Van Susteren (who I understand now gets her mail delivered to the Palin home) — the conductors of the three most prominent interviews done in this Wasilla home on a frozen lake at the end of a drive with the sign “Palins” posted on a tree. I am virtually unknown nationally and there was absolutely no reason for anything to be done differently as “show” for us. We saw the genuine Sarah Palin and it is patently obvious this is the only one who exists.
She is the real deal.
As a former TV sportscaster and radio talk show host I’ve interviewed a lot big-time “celebrities,” and can honestly say that even though you could argue Sarah Palin was the most prominent, she is also by far the nicest, most sincere and seemingly honest subject I’ve ever questioned.
For context, I admit to being a Sarah Palin fan even before she was named John McCain’s VP candidate. I attended her convention speech and consider it by far to be the finest I have ever personally witnessed. But being a world-class cynic I also wondered if maybe there was at least some truth to the negative media narrative created about her. Maybe she really wasn’t that smart, maybe she was indeed a “diva” or a “wack job.” Well, if any of those smears are remotely true, Palin should move to LA permanently because she’s a far better actor (not to mention better looking) than the vast majority of actresses in Hollywood.
Our interview started early and ended late (ask Barbara Walters how often that happens at this level). The Governor fully answered every question, even though some of them brought up media episodes which clearly upset her. When the subject turned to her kids being targeted, she was even a little emotional. She then posed for pictures and signed autographs for the entire crew, and casually discussed all sorts of topics, including how the local newspaper is absurdly still trailing the “story” that her youngest son is not really hers (this, while Todd walked around with Trig on his back and Bristol cared for Trip, her newborn, in a nearby bedroom; even Trig conspiracy theorist Andrew Sullivan would have had a hard time not seeing the insanity in his own delusion).
The madness of the local paper’s efforts to prove Trig is really not Sarah’s baby is not all we learned in post interview conversations. Conservatives will be thrilled to know she immediately “got” and seemed to fully appreciate my joke that Pete Wilson (and not Arnold Schwarzenegger) would go down as the last Republican Governor in the history of California. If that wasn’t enough, when she looked at the back cover of my first film (“Blocking the Path to 9/11” www.blockingthepath.com) and saw the photo of one of the film’s targets, Keith Olbermann, she literally let out a shriek (after reviewing the tape it was clearly more of a “groan”) and, pointing to his photograph, declared, “THAT guy is so EVIL! What is wroing with him? ” (this quote was augmented when the writer was able to view said tape)
Beyond the great interview for the film (from which there is still plenty of tremendous stuff yet to come), the most important part of my visit to the Palin home was learning there’s a big difference between thinking something is true and knowing for sure it is. I now know Sarah Palin is exactly who I thought she was.
I also know, with moral certitude, that the media assassination of her, her character and family, was one of the greatest public injustices of our time and that I’m totally justified in devoting my life to correcting the historical record in my forthcoming film, “Media Malpractice… How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Smeared.”

Congratulations, you gave a joke of a politician another softball-filled interview. You’re an idiot.
Are you sure she didn’t meet with you just because she knew you wouldn’t ask her where the country Africa was located on a map? I mean, how naive can you possibly be?
Her fear of unscripted and unanticipated questions is palpable.
I hope you took her a Mother-of-the-Year award and got a glimpse of her celebrated daughter’s golden lovechild that has so overjoyed conservatives.
Palin/’Joe’ the ‘Plumber’ in 2012!
Richard, we like to deal in facts here and as you well know it would be impossible for anyone to toss softballs at Governor Palin because it’s been documented no softballs exist after the media used them all up during their encounters with Barack Obama
As a matter of fact, Barack Obama now owns every softball in America and even you would have to admit John Ziegler is probably the last guy he’d lend one out too.
And you can’t accuse me of being uninformed. I’m hip. I know all about Joe The Plumber’s tax liens, Governor Palin’s lunch receipts and Barack Obama’s glistening pecs.
Iraqi Child…
Learn to spell Couric correctly. It's destroying your credibility. As for the unintelligible illogic of the final sentence, go to school. It really will help.

1. Does anyone actually watch your "documentaries"?
2. Has anyone who has ever worked with you one time, worked with you again?
Your condescending attitude and conspiracy theory approach to journalism are embarrassing. Please stop speaking on behalf of the political right… you are making things worse.
Paulie
So HOW DID BRISTOL LOOK? Did you get to see the new baby???
IS there really a new kid in their house?? Or was it all just a ruse to stop the gossip about Trig?
What’s the scoop?
Did Saracuda drink DIET SODAS all throughout the interview??
ASPARTAME fries the brain, you know; also can do genetic damage to unborn children…
Tsk-tsk.
Wow – the hate doesn’t stop does it.
When Palin got the nom, CNBC ran an interview she did on Energy Policy – Remember those days?? It was a brilliant interview – her was somebody that understood what was going on.
That interview was never ran again.
Frankly I’m baffled at why the media hates Sarah Palin. It’s unnatural.
Thank you, John.
I hope more americans get to know Governor Palin, and will then come to appreciate her character and record of success; she represents much of what is best about America. Focus on facts, folks and I think you’ll see an impressive person emerge that will challenge your preconceptions—and misconceptions.
Now I know for sure I’m going to enjoy this site. Outstanding work, John!
This happens whenever any site posts an article on Sarah Palin. It’s a collective attack effort.
Thank you John for sharing your interview with Sarah. Pay no attention to all of the sock puppets who will inundate your blog shortly.
Great interview – thank you.
I might edit the part about the bloggers – it's too sweeping and I think it reveals that she doesn't understand the blogging community or it's place in the new media (especially for those of us who are not part of the lefty establishment). I don't think it increases her cred. I am respect Sarah Palin very much and so say this as a friend.

Please tell me you are joking. I have been a conservative all my life and Palin has to be the most inept candidate I have ever seen on our ticket. The fact that there are conservatives out there that are excited about her future candidacy scares me to death. She doesn't have a snowball chance in you know where of ever getting elected as a front runner on the Republican ticket. How much of a train wreck has my party become when this is the best we can do? How do you not realize what a laughingstock her candidacy was? Were you not paying attention. I only hope that somehow this party gets taken back from the dummies who are running it right now and return it to its conservative roots and start putting electable candidates back on the ticket. I can only hope.
You are not exactly as bright as you think you are. Whose nephew are you?
You couldn’t possibly have gotten this job on your own.
Come on people! John Zeigler is a crack pot. He talks about media bias and this is the same guy who described on the air, how his ex-girlfriend grooms her genitals and other stuff. This man has been an embarrassment every place he has worked. In this piece, he is simply using Gov. Palin to promote his ludicrous documentaries.
Having said that, why do we let media rule us? Media is biased and corrupt (John is product of this monster). I got sick of this medium and decided not to watch TV news or listen to radio. As a result, I have not watched TV news for last 17+ years and have gotten my news from other sources and always read stories on both sides of the issues. Trust me folks, this practice has opened my eyes and I highly recommend this to everyone especially giving up TV news.
Funny how people like Hugo have such high standards when it comes to people like Palin, yet I’m going to go out on a limb and say he’s probably never written a nasty post about any of the ridiculously stupid things Joe Biden said during the campaign. Palin did fail in those interviews, and I hope she learns from it. It is up to her to portray the image of herself that so many on the Right say is the real Sarah. If she continues to do poorly in big time interviews, the MSM will never let the public forget it.
I’m still waiting for a reporter to ask Obama why a felon helped him buy his house (with Gov. Blagojevich’s wife conducting the transaction). I love how Liberals believe there’s nothing amiss with that deal, but they’re completely convinced Palin didn’t know about Africa. Honesty before opinions, boys. Without it, you’re just powerless kids, trying to sound important on the Internet.
Oh no, you are right. Palin is not ACTING. She is GENUINELY deranged. She really believes it´s all someone elses responibility and someone elses fault. I BELIEVE SHE BELIEVES IT.
It´s KOOLAIDEVILLE.
Amazing indeed. How the left purposely WILL NOT abandoned their own self-centered biases and look at the facts. Clearly Sarah Palin, has more class, morality, care and concern bundled up in her little finger than all of the hate mongering, self-centered media and opposition leadership (if you can call it that) combined.
They say she is dumb = How do you become governor in any state if that
is true?
They say she has no experience = What experience does Obama, Hillary,
Panetta have?
They say Tripp isn’t hers = Why hasn’t those associated with the
“planting” of this child into the Palin
family come forth to confirm such?
Conclusion: If you can’t discredit an individual on facts then fabricate lies about them and give it to The View, Katie Curick, Barbara Walters and the myriad of other agenda driven individuals to slime who is by far the most class act in American Politics anywhere today. If Sarah scares you, perhaps you need to take inventory of your own morality, or maybe you don’t want to for the shame of it.
For a wider perspective, a good article was in USA Today online, “Palin governs from the center.”
As for media assassination, look at the common factor among the victims: Gore, Hillary, now Palin. These are smart wonky people who really get things done and look into details. Can’t have that….
I dont understand what the deal is with all the posts citing her inexperience in foreign policy and the position in general, as if Obama had anymore?
I don’t usually read the ‘comments’ sections after articles, but I did here and am totally astounded at the responses. Why all the vitriol? Are you people that terrified of seeing Gov. Palin reappear on the national scene that you have to keep up the farce that she’s not smart and competent? Have you angry young men noticed that your beloved savior had many more totally stupid and conflicting answers than she ever gave? Have you noticed that the MSM was and continues to be in the O’s pocket? Why the fear of someone who is real?
You chose to elect a child who has no real experience because he promised you the moon without explaining how he planned to get there or pay for the trip, but a solidly grounded person with real-life experience and reality for a guide is ridiculed. Our country was founded by and was intended to be run by the common people. Take a good look at the sort of people who are now inhabiting DC and tell me these are ‘common people’ who have real-life experience in earning a living and dealing with the issues 99% of us have every day. I would gladly trade out anyone in the legislature for someone like Gov. Palin who has real-life experience and understands how a democracy is supposed to function – something totally forgotten by the current batch as they rush us into the ‘Nanny State’. You naysayers really ought to spend some time truly learning about the history of your country and the world because you obviously don’t know it or you would see the repetition happening right in front of you. The burdens created by this Congress and the Messiah will fall upon those who aren’t even able to vote yet and that’s patently unfair when it’s unnecessary.
Can I have cheese with that whine?
I get a kick out of people who think Palin will run and be a viable candidate in 2012! Who was the biggest drag….McCain or Palin???
BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Any nation that ridicules a selfmade woman with impressive achievements like Sarah Palin and instead choses to worship the highly leveraged Harvard-edcuated incompetents who created the current financial crisis (and who now have the nation´s treasury to play with) is richly deserving of all its troubles.
Say it ain’t so Joe.. MSM Malpractice? Liberal intolerance and hypocrisy is also the highest form of flattery .. Sarah’s convictions, individual success, deep love of country will always rattle self-loathing liberals. It don’t matter if they’re dumpster-diving Che-idolizing Berkeley liberals, or the high maintenance jet-setting Prada types at NBC and in H’wood. Sarah isn’t contrived and that in particular drives them insane.
Going by some of the immature comments here, this site is gaining much the same attention directed at Sarah and so soon too. It’s not conservatism so much that liberals are afraid of – they’re afraid the world will explicitly come to know how intolerant and terribly misguided they are.
Congrats on the new site and keep up the good fight! +God bless always.
JOHN, Right on! The negative comments on here are "BELIEVE IT OR NOT" from DemocRATS! You know, the ones who call Republicans hateful, mean, and every other negative word you can think of. Your right..they threw all the softballs at Hussein Nobama or Barry whatever you want to call him. They praise Caroline Kennedy who is worth over three to four hundred million dollars..but who know's she won't release her financial records. Has NO, XERO, NADA, NIX, Zilch, experience do anything except being a Kennedy and YOU KNOW THAT QUALIFIES HER FOR A SENATE SEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where are the damn loudmouth, hateful, mean DemocRATS now, they are suddenly all mute on her lack of qualifications…but they couldn't stop talking about Sarah Palin..and at least she is a Gov, has been a Mayor and has experience. I'm sick of all of this ….. and I can't wait for the next four years…our country will be in the biggest mess ever after NO EXPERIENCE NOBAMA SERVES…AND we will probably have to gut the White House after all the family moves in and out! GOD HELP AMERICA!
Sarah Palin is the first real woman in politics and the media hates that . They have spent years telling everyone that women are baby killing workaholics who don't need clinging children tiresome men and morals in the way of a self serving power hungry life. Sarah Palin who is smart, possesses common sense, who loves her children above all else, who has a man who she loves, and he loves her back and still is successful scares the hell out of the Hillary's and the freaks in the so-called women's movement. Who hasn't a single real women in their ranks. There are no greater haters of women than the woman's movement and the media. Their vicious attacks on Palin and her family spoke volumes.
FSTEEL
Interesting comment. Would you share what Gore or Hillary have accomplished as ELECTED officials? No political leadership other than a NONE administrative senators job for Gore, and the same for Hillary. If they have been roughed up a bit, perhaps it is because of the positions they take. Both would take this country in a direction not many of us would consider. Hillary can make lots of money in futures and Gore has proven he can make it selling carbon credits. Why do either of them want to be in politics. Oh, I see it’s to help us!

Good one John!
John perpetuate the “noise” that has turned so many in this country away from caring (especailly people who are supposed to be on “your side”) or getting involved in our politics. And there is plenty of “noise” being created by both sides. But do you not see that the more we focus on this non-sensible stuff, the further we diminish our political discourse? And that is exactly what the political elite on both sides (partisan hacks) hope to acheive? The more they can disenfranchise from the process, the easier it is to gain political control.
I love this woman. My daughters will now her name. Thanks John, keep up the good work!
The thing about Sarah Palin that upsets the Left so much is the fact that she chose to give birth to Trig rather than abort him.
In so doing, she demonstrated her true character and how much bigger than them she truly is. And they can't handle it.
If the same standards existed between the media’s treatment of the Obamas and the Palins, we would’ve seen at least one article dealing with nothing more than whether Michelle’s arse is real or enhanced.
Do the liberals spending so much time posting hate on conservative websites draw a salary (from ACORN perhaps)? Or is it just their only hobby?
It doesn’t require a large IQ to consume something for free, then dump the doo-doo on the porch.
I suppose it would take more effort to hang around “liberal” websites offering constructive commentary.
The left has to destroy Sarah because she is a threat. If she rehabilitates her reputation, look out – because she will appeal to conservatives and many other groups who traditionally vote Democratic. That’s why the mocking and attempts to discredit her persist even to this day.
I had my sister in law and her boyfriend in for the holidays and as always, the discussion eventually turned political. He’s a self coined recovering Republican, while I’ve always been just a conservative, no more, no less. He voted Bush, Kerry, and Obama in the last three elections. We spent the better part of a day discussing politics while drinking beer and crying about our Cincinnati Bengals, even when they were winning. We came up with the solutions for just about every problem that plagues America today and the conversation was civil as it usually is. Then he asks me how I feel about Palin. When I tell him I think she’s fantastic, he brings up the “Russia from my house” comment and asks what she’s ever done. I retort that she was running for VP and she still fought corruption in her own party and reformed pork in her own state, something Washington desperately needs. When I promptly ask him to name a single thing that his messiah had done, he asks me why I’m getting so upset. After an explanation of why I’m not upset, I then insult Obama’s intelligence by talking about the 57 states comment and the fact that not very many people in Afghanistan speak Arabic and how his parents were 3 years ahead of the curve in conceiving him during the Civil Rights movement. I’ll never forget his response: “You’re exactly the problem with politics in this country.” Of course, I had to actually explain to him what those three things were about as he wasn’t as well versed in Obama-faults as I was. He extends that he follows it closely when he knows about the Palin issue, but then realizes he doesn’t follow it that closely when I bring up something comparable about Obama and he has no idea what I’m talking about.
To him, Palin as an idiot is just fact, it’s as plain as the day is long, as life is short. But bring up the same stupidity that permeates every politician and suddenly I’m petty and what’s wrong with politics. Obama to him is a messianic figure, Palin is just another moron who somehow got to where she is through happenstance (read: sleeping her way to the top.) It’s an amazing thing to see, for people to actually think this self made woman, this politician being able to traverse her own party’s problems, get some of the bad guys kicked out, and still be overwhelmingly liked by the majority of the public, for people to think she is just some good looking moron, it’s beyond the pale. It actually boggles the mind.
I can definitely understand people wondering why she gave two consecutive bad interviews, but I always wonder why no one wondered the same things about Obama after the O’Reilly interview. I guess because that’s, to quote Michele Malkin, RAAAAAACIST!
Dave,
This was a small interview for a documentary. No one put out a front page story in the NYT advertising it, nor were there viral youtube links to it. You went to a lot of trouble to get here, find the new site, etc., if you didn’t want to see a clip of Gov. Palin that John Zeigler decided to share, then why did you watch it? If it was so “noisy” to you, why bother posting comments? What exactly is non-sensible stuff? Discussing Obama w/o his shirt on every network for days? Worrying about the Obama kids new schools, and will they have butterflies in their tummies? Their new dog, will they go shelter, or won’t they? These are all real news stories on the big 3 networks, that were played multiple times. I don’t know why the fact she decided to answer questions regarding what happened during the election is so offensive to you. Does she not have a right to at least say a little something after she has been called the most vile names in history, and her family, too? I have actually met Gov. Palin a couple of times. The first time was right after she became Gov. I met her thru a friend of a friend in Alaska. She dropped by the cafe we wee in and had lunch with us, and acted like one of the “girls.” She is great. I was impressed with her then, and nothing has changed my mind. I’m sure if you called and asked her to interview with your news company she would be glad to speak with you in regards to all the really important to you stuff. Heaven forbid everyone not be all doom and gloom news all the time………I guess you were looking for the really serious stuff coming to a site names “Big Hollywood.”
Sarah,
P.Diddy said on his video blog, there was no blacks, crackheads or crime in Alaska.
Is this true?
If so, other than the cold, it sounds like PARADISE!
One day I’ll get around to forming a real opinion about Sarah Palin. With all the toxic, oftentimes dishonest and borderline psychotic hostility which has emanated from the infantile left since day one I feel like I’ve been too busy telling them to go fcuk themselves to invest much time into taking a full measure of her. It really has been a whirlwind whereas ascertaining just how big of a moron Joe Biden is required little more than a prolonged stretch of quiet observation.
Great piece, Mr. Ziegler!
From the video: “Because Katie, you’re not the center of everybody’s universe.” So much for Cuda’s reluctance to handle “softball” questions. IMHO, watching Palin progress in her political journey from here on in will be a lesson in how it’s done. The lame-stream media might be better off focusing on hardball answers from this woman rather than socalled “softball” questions. The previous campaign was NOT a ‘defeat’ for Palin, it was her crucible on her way to the Oval Office; like Ronald Reagan before her, she emerges from the ashes of political setback a breath of fresh air. Go Sarah – PALIN 2012!
Palin scares liberals because they recognize a threat when one is presented to them…they like McCain for the same reason.
Smear all you want lefties, the culture will be slowly turning away from you from now on…
John Zigler,
Thank you for the article. I’m looking forward to more from you. Ignore the trolls.
Great interview. Ignore all the wackos who post on here.
John,
Hopefully you can keep the movement going. The truth needs to be told. Libs are going to hide every thing unless it is to their advantage.
The more people know about Sarah the better chance we have of getting her in 2010 or 2012.
I like Palin. I think she’s a nice person and appears to be a fairly sensible leader.
The Invisible VP-elect Biden is an idiot, but no one seems to notice that. Oh, well, I’m sure he’ll be as invisible during the coming glorious administration as he was during the last months of the campaign.
I wonder if what scares or upsets so many liberal women about Sarah Palin is that she has managed to so utterly destroy the “feminist” ideal of a successful, career-minded woman who forsakes a family in order to be equal or better than men. Sarah Palin has managed to build a big, loving, seemingly happy family, while at the same time becoming an incredibly successful governor and a frontrunner for the next Republican presidential ticket.
Working and living in New York, I’m surrounded by women who become disgusted at the mere mention of Palin’s name, claiming she somehow betrays everything that womanhood stands for, and yet they fall all over themselves to bow down at the feet of Hillary Clinton, someone who is a laughingstock and a pathetic example of a woman sacrificing her dignity and self-respect to stay with a husband who publically humilates her, all for the sake of her career. These women I work around, they deride Sarah Palin for having a large family, for having a granddaughter out of wedlock, for her fashion sense, for being pro-life, for being religious, for being a “hick,” for being a beauty queen, for anything and everything the media can think of, but when it comes down to it, I think they resent her because she puts the lie to the feminist ideal that they have been raised to strive towards, the independent, career-centered woman with no need for a man, and in her incredible success, they see their own failures.
[...] Mr Ziegler looks at Mrs Palin. [...]
Sarah Palin is represents everything that strike fear in the hearts of ultra-liberals… a real person who lives like she talks.
They are used to idiots like Al Gore who tell us all how selfish we are for not living "green" and all the while he uses more resources than 10 people put together and makes it right by buying "carbon credits".
Liberals… are… tedious.
I’ll admit: I was a bit worried about this website’s survival and how it might all-to-soon be hijacked by the schoolyard-bullying, name-calling and pull-facts-outta-thin-air behavior that’s dependably spewed forth by frothy-mouthed liberals. ‘A gorgeous buffet becoming a foul-stenched landfill.
And then I read John Nolte’s zinger & Poster Hines’ mano-a-mano.
What was I worried about?
Don’t get me wrong: I dig engaging debates (!) But unfortunately, most often, Liberals rely upon immature tactics such as name-calling and hurling accusations of limited or no substantiation. And I find that…
tedious.
I believe all you need to do is look at PuffHo (isn’t that what you call a woman who sleeps with men for her money?) to see that the libs are fixated on Ms. Palin. Why hasn’t anyone done reporting on what John McCain has done since the election? If you were an outsider looking in, you would have thought Ms. Palin was running against Obama. Did anyone report how idiotic Joe Biden sounded during the debate(and still does)? All the talk about racism during the election but not one word about sexism. For the first time in my life I am truly embarrassed with my country. Sadly, I see the result of stupidity in a nation and realize that at 50% stupidity we’re doomed. If Hollywood is smart, they’ll begin investing in Bollywood and learn Spanish and Chinese as these markets will have the money to fund their garbage. Hopefully, the network news stations will go the way of newspapers.
“Governor Palin, not yet fully put together, rushed out to tell myself and my crew to make ourselves at home.”
I hope she wasn’t *gasp* *choke* in her ROBE?!
Great work, John. Sarah Palin reminds me of the familiar quote that evil triumphs when good men (and women) to nothing. She’s fearless, got into politics for the right reason, and is a rare commodity these days, someone who actually wants to serve her state and country, rather than for what she can get out of it. She can’t be bought and, as we’re beginning to see since the election is over and she’s free from the shackles of McCain’s inept campaign, will not be silenced when she feels that the media isn’t telling the truth.
As Rush Limbaugh said when McCain announced her as his running mate, I want to see her grow old in office.
Hugo,
You talking about Palin or those with Bush derangement syndrome? Remember that Bush is responsible for anything and everything that is wrong. Why, he even personally bombed the dikes (and he looks terrible in a wet suit) in New Orleans because he hates blacks.
America is finished if this kind of thinking is any indication of the population in general.
Sorry, but she's a creationist/fundamentalist. That means she is an anti-intellectual and unfit to govern in my book. I do thank her for galvanizing everyone into pushing Obama over the top. The Dems owe her a double bouqet of roses.

The Invisible VP-elect Biden is an idiot, but no one seems to notice that. Oh, well, I’m sure he’ll be as invisible during the coming glorious administration as he was during the last months of the campaign.
Palin is an administrator.
Biden is a politician.
It’s pretty simple really.
I’m like you, mk. I take a less than heavily nuanced approach to all this. Palin is just starting out and has been mostly unaffected by politics so far. Who knows what she’ll be like in 20 years. Biden is obviously a politician and whatever he was when he started out his career has been lost over the years.
I had similar feelings about both Obama and McCain. Whatever dreams and ideals that had starting out have been lost by years and years of being politicians.
With few exceptions, politics ruins politicians over time.
Was she in the movie Fargo ?
John, Thank you for doing the job the “real” journalists won’t do. I also was familiar with Sarah Palin before tapped for the VP and often said I wished she would be considered as a running mate. I can’t tell how thrilled I was when it was finally announced. The sad part is, toward the end, I felt that McCain was purposely trying to derail the whole campaign and, realizing that Sarah Palin was such a force, wanted to bring her down also. It is sad but I don’t feel there is any other explanation for the whole debacle.
McCain’s service to the country nonwithstanding, when I voted on Nov 4 – I said a mantra under my breath “I am voting for Sarah Palin” – it was the only way I could bring myself to put a check beside McCain’s name.
Since you were given such personal access – I really wish you would tell her that many of us do realize that we are putting a tremendous amount of pressure on her, projecting much of our hopes and desires on her to return this truly great country back to a time that would make the Founding Fathers proud. But I honestly do not know of anyone else in the political spectrum who has Gov. Palin’s spirit, straight forward honesty, grace and, yes, intellect, to get the job back on track. We need her and she needs US to never back down from the fight.
stupid effing liberals.
thats about all that I can muster after perusing the hate-filled comments here.
I think this will be my new homepage. Thank you.
This is a keeper:
“I also know, with moral certitude, that the media assassination of her, her character and family, was one of the greatest public injustices of our time …”
Quick question. Will Ziegler be pimping his ‘forthcoming’ film daily or weekly?
Second quick question. Now that Pajamas Media has made Joe the Plumber a reporter, how long before he weighs in here? What does he think about Sarah Palin?
Thanks in advance.
Without the dead weight of a non conservative Republican like McCain around her neck, Sarah’s gonna rise. And I intend to help any way I can.
Raking the liberal over the coals and making sure they feel it showing them their not ammune from it all and JUDICIAL WATCH if going after BARACK OBAMA for some of his shadey dealings
Wow, there are some really thoughtful posts here. I was just breezing back through, and was curious to see of the loons had hijacked this thread. They seem to sniff out any single word written about the Governor. I get such a kick out of the fact they want to hold Palin to such a high standard, but people like Caro Kennedy, Biden, and God forbid, Al Franken don’t embarass them at all. Now that is truly ironic! I like it when they make fun of her kids names, yet celebrate those whacky Hollyweird names like Apple, Suri, Kal EL, Pilot Inspektor, etc. They think nothing of Jamie Lynn Spears being preggers, they put out madonna and child magazine covers of her, but Bristol Palin is just an ignorant backwoods slut. Hey, she is just doing what they told her was cool on MTV, what’s wrong with that?? And the completely out-to-lunchers like Andrew Sullivan who wants to do a vaginal exam on the Palin women to check for recent birthing signs, when we all know he has no familiarity with vaginas, probably wouldn’t recognize one if it bit him! And Dick Cavett with his catty article, “The Wily Woodsmith from Wasilla.” Guess he thinks Obama’s stuttering and stumbling off prompter sounds coherent, and it’s obvious he has never tried to find the real words in a Caroline Kennedy conversation. I think you can boil 30 min. down to 3 sentences if you take out the you knows, you know? This is a manufactured slam that would never have occured if Palin had been Obama’s running mate. I just want them to be honest, they just want to hate her, because she doesn’t feel their Obama Love. I hope she waits and runs, if she chooses, in 2016 or so. These people have tainted her for the short term. Good job, misogynistic asshats!
Wow a normal person– no wonder she is such a threat to the left….. Common sense is a wonderful virtue.
Nick, I would like to expand on your post. I believe Lefty female hatred of Palin has a more specific root.
Wikipedia states “psychological projection (or projection bias) is a defense mechanism in which one attributes one’s own unacceptable or unwanted thoughts or/and emotions to others. Projection reduces anxiety by allowing the expression of the unwanted subconscious impulses/desires without letting the conscious mind recognize them.”
Why should this psychological projection occur? What does Sarah Palin represent to these people?
In one respect Sarah Palin should be the poster child for feminists. She has achieved everything that feminists claim men have prevented woman from achieving. So why is she not just criticized but smeared by so many woman that purportedly claim to want nothing but the emancipation and equality of woman? While Mrs. Palin is a conservative I don’t recall Elizabeth Dole being derided this way. There is something much more fundamental going on than party politics.
The one difference, there for all to see, impossible to ignore is that Sarah Palin has achieved all she has without resorting to abortion. Not only has she not had an abortion but has birthed a child with Down’s Syndrome. I believe the hate directed at Sarah Palin is a psychological projection from ambitious professional educated woman for achieving what they so desire without resorting to killing a child. Their hatred for Mrs. Palin is self-hatred. Instead of reconsidering their decisions and self-image they project their self-hate onto Mrs. Palin making her a caricature, someone less than human thus absolving them of guilt. Their thinking is, “she’s not like me so I don’t have to question myself.”
Psychological projection not only accounts for the treatment of Sarah Palin. It also explains why any limitations of abortion at the most extreme margins is unacceptable. Partial birth abortion? Nothing wrong there, there’s no person. Kill a baby that survives an abortion? Why not, it was unwanted and only through a fluke did it survive. If it’s not a person in the womb why should it be a person a short distance from the womb?
Once allowances are made that at some point a fetus is a person then how does one justify that a month, day or minute earlier it wasn’t? And if one were to truly consider that what was destroyed was a person…then logically in an abortion, a mother has killed her own child. Not only killed her child but perhaps done so for career, social and material advancement. I think anyone with a conscience would have much difficulty maintaining a healthy self-image with such a burden to bear.
It’s much easier and less psychologically troubling to kill the messenger.
The Left is afraid. Very very afraid. They have to do all in their power to keep this fantastic woman from gaining higher office. The only way they know how is to insult her and sadly their are a lot of people in this country who are gullible enough to believe what ever the mainstream press will tell them.
Thank you John for this article, your videos thus far, and the documentary you're producing on Media Malpractice. I loved the video on How Obama Got Elected…..it is truly a sad statement of our society, that so many people who knew SO little regarding who our government leaders are or even how government works for that matter, would know every bit of gossip/parodies/rumors regarding Sarah Palin. Our media is out of control. When we look to gossip magazines and internet bloggers for "facts", we've truly lost our way.
Proud to be a conservative and proud to have voted for McCain/Palin!
Really love Big Hollywood so far……keep up the good work!
The length of these comments show the interest people have in Sarah Palin. Every blog that mentions her name has pages and pages of comments. Of course if she was the idiot and "non issue" her detractors want people to believe, they would go away. But they are still here – and that is entertaining. She’ll be back and they won’t be able to stop her. I’ll be watching. Carry on… love Mag.

Palin/Jindal 2012! She is the real deal, great article John.
The shear depth of hatred of those afflicted with Palin Derangement Syndrome is one of the things that makes me fear that Igor Panarin is 100% correct.
I'm with Bob The Builder. Even after all these polls and interviews come out proving that liberals (more accurately, Obama voters) have the IQ of coffee cakes, they STILL don't take the time to research any facts. If that doesn't go to prove their stupidity, nothing will.
In addition to everything else DonB71InWA said, another reason why Palin had to be destroyed by the media is because unlike Mrs. Dole, Sarah Palin is “cool”. Mrs. Dole is a classy lady, no doubt, but you’re not going to see pre-teen girls wearing an Elizabeth Dole t-shirt.
The greatest damage that can be done to the leftist medias control of the minds of our children (especially younger women and girls) is for a cool, attractive, accessible, genuine conservative woman to rise to prominence and power.
Good article about a great example of a good and fine person.
This was a great interview with Sarah Palin. She is a genuine person – who is quite brilliant – which liberals are threatened by. Liberals can’t argue the good argument – so they only do what they do best – personally attack people. The mean-spirited attacks that liberals constantly throw at conservatives can only be attributed to several things – a couple are their hatred towards their own country & ignorance of the issues facing the nation.
I was never a McCain fan – and Sarah was a great addition to the ticket. It is too bad that they had her so scripted. If she could have just talked – I think things would have been better for her. It is disgusting how the McCain campaign promptly threw her “under the bus” after the election loss – which is McCains fault – he gave no reason for anyone to vote for him. He is a wuss (politically speaking). Term limits would be a very good idea in Washington….
Unfortunately we are going to experience first hand in the next 2 years (at least)what having all liberals in charge is going to do to this country. It is unfortunate – that if properly reported in all media – the American people would know who is responsible for the current economic “crisis” – Barney Frank and his buddies who forced Fannie and Freddie to relax underwriting guidelines to allow people to buy homes who had no business doing so. Now the people who ruined our economy are going to “fix” it. God help us! However some Republicans need to take blame. Shame on Bush for the start of the “bailouts”.
Great website – I look forward to the “brightening” up of America! The liberals have “dumbed” down our population enough – we need to change the tide.
Mr. Ziegler,
Thank you very kindly for this article. I look forward to the documentary. I believe the squalid performance of our news institutions during this last election is connected to a decision, after the vote to proceed military in Iraq, by the Democratic leadership under Tom Daschle to ride the Iraq war to the White House. I’ll bet Howell Raines would have a lot to say about that.
Excellent article. Looking forward to the documentary.
The outrage of the left regarding articles as this (and particularly Ann Coulter’s “Guilty”) just validates what the articles & books are all about. It amazes me how they can continue to be so dense. No matter who you voted for, common sense tells anyone that the media coverage was biased and one-sided.
She needs to get over it and get on with her life.
Softballs? you mean like the softballs thrown to the jug eared messiah by chris Matthews, charlies gibson and uber-retard Brian williams? A break please the author is in her home how confrontational you think hes going to be? Try to interview Obamas deformed wife you’d have to learn Klingon. Nice interview with Sarah.
Great interview. She is the real deal. She has done a great job in Alaska. The USA needs a change from the graft and corruption so commonly found in politicians.
William, Africa is not a country; it is a continent. Thought you should know.
Hey JClark,
With respect, I ask you to refrain from name calling. That’s a Lefty tactic. You can do better.
We can make our arguments based on values, reason, faith and history. That’s how we will convince the undecided and misinformed.
Republican chicks are HOT!!!
Like someone said, Palin is the kind of woman you fight for, Hillary is the kind of broad you fight with.
The class antagonism issue is also something that needs to be developed. The GOP has always been thought of as the “country club” party…well, not any more. The rich and arrogant are all much more comfortable with the marxist/Democrat party.
The marxist/democrats are very instructive in who they see as problems;
boy scouts, Christians, military personnel, flag wavers, straight people, gun owners, free speech advocates, global warming doubters, closed borders nationalists…gee, every sort of person who puts their country and posterity first.
Gov. Palin, I’m a HUGE fan! You are a breath of fresh air in a stale climate of political corruption ( I’m from Illinois, believe me I know).
Please lead a Red State secessionist movement! Let the handout/communist/envirofanatic/America hating/perverts of Blue State America have that corrupt sinking ship.
Thank you so much for doing this – it made my day to read this/watch the video. I will be doing what I can to spread the word about the documentary and I think all of us who are appalled at the coverage Gov. Palin got during the election need to do the same.
Of course, Palin was her own worst enemy. Her Kate Kouric interview destroyed her own credibility. You cannot list your foreign policy experience as living next to Russia. Seriously. I dont think even the Republicans can do enough Coco powder and xanax to jump start that hummer of a premise.
Hey JClark,
With respect, please refrain from name calling. That’s a Lefty tactic. You can do better.
We’ll never convince the Lefty true believers but that’s not our target audience. While it’s important to provide encouragement for those of like minds our true audience should be the open minded undecided and minsinformed. Name calling won’t help us with those people.
Clear arguments made with reason and informed by facts, history, logic, faith and conservative values are our most effective tools.
Thanks for considering my feedback, buddy.
Wow.
The fact that anyone still hands Palin a chance to toot her own horn is astounding.
For weeks she filled this country with hateful rhetoric and incited calls to violence at her rallies — documented, incontrovertible.
Say what you will about media bias — I’m sure Katie Couric was smug and snickering behind the scenes — but Palin’s inadequacies, misstatements, and huge knowledge gap were all her own doing. Having her in the vice presidency would have been a nightmare and a national joke.
Thanks for the interview. I agree with Ann Coulter that she may be what America needs in a presidential candidate in a eight or twelve years. When she demonstrates years of success as governor, then bring her onto the national stage.
But many liberals in the media (and here, apparently) hate her because they are innately misogynistic to anyone who doesn’t agree with them on abortion, she doesn’t act like them, she doesn’t talk like them, and finally, and she is everything they are not… she juggles family and career founded on principles and an active faith, and more to the point, she gets things done. Of course, if she was pro-abortion, then I’m sure they’d love her, despite these other “faults”.
We all know many liberals in the media are obsessed with destroying any politician who experiences success but does not look or act within their fascist set of ideals…
I moved from the criminal state of illinois. I am thinking of moving to Alaska
Romney/Palin 2012
It is just so obvious why the media “hates” Sarah Palin. It isn’t “hate,” it is strategy. They take down the threats and promote the non-threats, and the level of response is in direct proportion to the level of threat. That is why the media chose John McCain as the Republican nominee. He was the least threatening. But, oh, they didn’t plan on Sarah Palin! The media knew instinctively when she appeared on the scene that they needed to pull out their “shock and awe” weapons, and pound and pound and pound until they got the response they were after from a majority of the population, the 65% who will respond blindly to perceived authority, rather than trust their own judgment.
John Ziegler Thank you!!!!!!!
Anything on Gov. Sarah Palin makes the liberals squirm.
The interview sucked, you just gave her a platform to air her excuses.
You are both idiots.
So essentially you are saying that because she was nice to you she must be a great person and everything we know about her must not be true? Throwing her giant softballs and being starry eyed for her doesn’t change the fact that she was grossly unqualified for the position she ran for.
John Z. – When I read your line that Palin was “not yet fully put together,” I was immediately reminded of Thomas Jefferson, who often answered the door himself at the White House. Jefferson loathed the perceived formalities and elitism of the Federalists and that led him to develop a super-relaxed presidency. Practically anyone was welcome to drop by.
He insisted that foreign ministers and heads of state be treated no differently than the gentleman farmer down the lane, which led to this funny incident in 1803: England’s new foreign minister, the delightfully named Anthony Merry, arrived in the new capitol city and came calling at the Presidential Mansion with all appropriate English pomp and circumstance and wearing full diplomatic regalia. But for several minutes, Secretary of State Madison was unable to find the president. Finally, Jefferson appeared, wearing slippers and what could only be charitably described as business casual.
Merry was not amused, and never called on Jefferson again. But it wasn’t so much of a tweak of a stuffy Brit by a Francophile than the tossing away of all convention by a pure radical.
Brilliant Richard said:
“Congratulations, you gave a joke of a politician another softball-filled interview. You’re an idiot.”
Where did you read the interview, Richard? Not here – this was an article about the interview and about the governor. You did not read the questions and have no clue as to whether the interview was softball-filled or not. You are a partisan Kool-Aid drinker with your own foregone conclusions. Fortunately, posts such as yours never influence opponents or undecideds. You may be popular preaching to your own choir, but your post is intellectually meaningless.
It may indeed have been a softball-filled interview. But you don’t know. And let me ask you two things: 1. Name for me one interview that Barack Obama did that was not softball-filled. 2. Now name another.
This is for the ill-informed person who mentioned Sarah not knowing that Africa was a country. I guess he didn’t get the news that it was a hoax created by two guys with a blog who identified themselves as McCain staffers. It was all over the news how these two guys manipulated the media. Of course the poster didn’t get this news because it was not in favor of what he believed. I can’t believe that morons still believe that crap.
There is no doubt that the “O” bought the election. He paid for it with illgal funds from donors with names of Disney characters. He had the media in his pocket. They sent 4,000 reporters to Wasilla to attack Palin but didn’t investigate one shred of Obama’s background. All they did was attact the people who tried.
thank you fools for electing a guy who you didnt know where he was born, ignored his muslim past, ignored his vicious friends, ignored his cowardice at covering up his record from college thru law school thru the annenberg fiasco, has a vicious wife, etc…….why thank you? because i want america to go down
