Funny how people like Hugo have such high standards when it comes to people like Palin, yet I’m going to go out on a limb and say he’s probably never written a nasty post about any of the ridiculously stupid things Joe Biden said during the campaign. Palin did fail in those interviews, and I hope she learns from it. It is up to her to portray the image of herself that so many on the Right say is the real Sarah. If she continues to do poorly in big time interviews, the MSM will never let the public forget it.

I’m still waiting for a reporter to ask Obama why a felon helped him buy his house (with Gov. Blagojevich’s wife conducting the transaction). I love how Liberals believe there’s nothing amiss with that deal, but they’re completely convinced Palin didn’t know about Africa. Honesty before opinions, boys. I don’t usually read the ‘comments’ sections after articles, but I did here and am totally astounded at the responses. Why all the vitriol? Are you people that terrified of seeing Gov. Palin reappear on the national scene that you have to keep up the farce that she’s not smart and competent? Have you angry young men noticed that your beloved savior had many more totally stupid and conflicting answers than she ever gave? Have you noticed that the MSM was and continues to be in the O’s pocket? Why the fear of someone who is real?

You chose to elect a child who has no real experience because he promised you the moon without explaining how he planned to get there or pay for the trip, but a solidly grounded person with real-life experience and reality for a guide is ridiculed. Our country was founded by and was intended to be run by the common people. Take a good look at the sort of people who are now inhabiting DC and tell me these are ‘common people’ who have real-life experience in earning a living and dealing with the issues 99% of us have every day. I would gladly trade out anyone in the legislature for someone like Gov. Palin who has real-life experience and understands how a democracy is supposed to function – something totally forgotten by the current batch as they rush us into the ‘Nanny State’. You naysayers really ought to spend some time truly learning about the history of your country and the world because you obviously don’t know it or you would see the repetition happening right in front of you. The burdens created by this Congress and the Messiah will fall upon those who aren’t even able to vote yet and that’s patently unfair when it’s unnecessary.

Any nation that ridicules a selfmade woman with impressive achievements like Sarah Palin and instead choses to worship the highly leveraged Harvard-edcuated incompetents who created the current financial crisis (and who now have the nation´s treasury to play with) is richly deserving of all its troubles.

Interesting comment. Would you share what Gore or Hillary have accomplished as ELECTED officials? No political leadership other than a NONE administrative senators job for Gore, and the same for Hillary. If they have been roughed up a bit, perhaps it is because of the positions they take. Both would take this country in a direction not many of us would consider. Hillary can make lots of money in futures and Gore has proven he can make it selling carbon credits. Why do either of them want to be in politics. Oh, I see it’s to help us!

John perpetuate the “noise” that has turned so many in this country away from caring (especailly people who are supposed to be on “your side”) or getting involved in our politics. And there is plenty of “noise” being created by both sides. But do you not see that the more we focus on this non-sensible stuff, the further we diminish our political discourse? And that is exactly what the political elite on both sides (partisan hacks) hope to acheive? The more they can disenfranchise from the process, the easier it is to gain political control.

Do the liberals spending so much time posting hate on conservative websites draw a salary (from ACORN perhaps)? Or is it just their only hobby?

I had my sister in law and her boyfriend in for the holidays and as always, the discussion eventually turned political. He’s a self coined recovering Republican, while I’ve always been just a conservative, no more, no less. He voted Bush, Kerry, and Obama in the last three elections. We spent the better part of a day discussing politics while drinking beer and crying about our Cincinnati Bengals, even when they were winning. We came up with the solutions for just about every problem that plagues America today and the conversation was civil as it usually is. Then he asks me how I feel about Palin. When I tell him I think she’s fantastic, he brings up the “Russia from my house” comment and asks what she’s ever done. I retort that she was running for VP and she still fought corruption in her own party and reformed pork in her own state, something Washington desperately needs. When I promptly ask him to name a single thing that his messiah had done, he asks me why I’m getting so upset. After an explanation of why I’m not upset, I then insult Obama’s intelligence by talking about the 57 states comment and the fact that not very many people in Afghanistan speak Arabic and how his parents were 3 years ahead of the curve in conceiving him during the Civil Rights movement. I’ll never forget his response: “You’re exactly the problem with politics in this country.” Of course, I had to actually explain to him what those three things were about as he wasn’t as well versed in Obama-faults as I was. He extends that he follows it closely when he knows about the Palin issue, but then realizes he doesn’t follow it that closely when I bring up something comparable about Obama and he has no idea what I’m talking about.

To him, Palin as an idiot is just fact, it’s as plain as the day is long, as life is short. But bring up the same stupidity that permeates every politician and suddenly I’m petty and what’s wrong with politics. Obama to him is a messianic figure, Palin is just another moron who somehow got to where she is through happenstance (read: sleeping her way to the top.) It’s an amazing thing to see, for people to actually think this self made woman, this politician being able to traverse her own party’s problems, get some of the bad guys kicked out, and still be overwhelmingly liked by the majority of the public, for people to think she is just some good looking moron, it’s beyond the pale. It actually boggles the mind.

I can definitely understand people wondering why she gave two consecutive bad interviews, but I always wonder why no one wondered the same things about Obama after the O’Reilly interview. I guess because that’s, to quote Michele Malkin, RAAAAAACIST!

One day I’ll get around to forming a real opinion about Sarah Palin. I wonder if what scares or upsets so many liberal women about Sarah Palin is that she has managed to so utterly destroy the “feminist” ideal of a successful, career-minded woman who forsakes a family in order to be equal or better than men. Sarah Palin has managed to build a big, loving, seemingly happy family, while at the same time becoming an incredibly successful governor and a frontrunner for the next Republican presidential ticket.

Working and living in New York, I’m surrounded by women who become disgusted at the mere mention of Palin’s name, claiming she somehow betrays everything that womanhood stands for, and yet they fall all over themselves to bow down at the feet of Hillary Clinton, someone who is a laughingstock and a pathetic example of a woman sacrificing her dignity and self-respect to stay with a husband who publically humilates her, all for the sake of her career. These women I work around, they deride Sarah Palin for having a large family, for having a granddaughter out of wedlock, for her fashion sense, for being pro-life, for being religious, for being a “hick,” for being a beauty queen, for anything and everything the media can think of, but when it comes down to it, I think they resent her because she puts the lie to the feminist ideal that they have been raised to strive towards, the independent, career-centered woman with no need for a man, and in her incredible success, they see their own failures.

Liberals… are… tedious.

I get such a kick out of the fact they want to hold Palin to such a high standard, but people like Caro Kennedy, Biden, and God forbid, Al Franken don’t embarass them at all. Now that is truly ironic! I like it when they make fun of her kids names, yet celebrate those whacky Hollyweird names like Apple, Suri, Kal EL, Pilot Inspektor, etc. They think nothing of Jamie Lynn Spears being preggers, they put out madonna and child magazine covers of her, but Bristol Palin is just an ignorant backwoods slut. Hey, she is just doing what they told her was cool on MTV, what’s wrong with that?? And the completely out-to-lunchers like Andrew Sullivan who wants to do a vaginal exam on the Palin women to check for recent birthing signs, when we all know he has no familiarity with vaginas, probably wouldn’t recognize one if it bit him! And Dick Cavett with his catty article, “The Wily Woodsmith from Wasilla.” Guess he thinks Obama’s stuttering and stumbling off prompter sounds coherent, and it’s obvious he has never tried to find the real words in a Caroline Kennedy conversation. I think you can boil 30 min. down to 3 sentences if you take out the you knows, you know? This is a manufactured slam that would never have occured if Palin had been Obama’s running mate. I just want them to be honest, they just want to hate her, because she doesn’t feel their Obama Love. I hope she waits and runs, if she chooses, in 2016 or so. Nick, I would like to expand on your post. I believe Lefty female hatred of Palin has a more specific root.

Wikipedia states “psychological projection (or projection bias) is a defense mechanism in which one attributes one’s own unacceptable or unwanted thoughts or/and emotions to others. Projection reduces anxiety by allowing the expression of the unwanted subconscious impulses/desires without letting the conscious mind recognize them.”

Why should this psychological projection occur? What does Sarah Palin represent to these people?

In one respect Sarah Palin should be the poster child for feminists. She has achieved everything that feminists claim men have prevented woman from achieving. So why is she not just criticized but smeared by so many woman that purportedly claim to want nothing but the emancipation and equality of woman? While Mrs. Palin is a conservative I don’t recall Elizabeth Dole being derided this way. There is something much more fundamental going on than party politics.

The one difference, there for all to see, impossible to ignore is that Sarah Palin has achieved all she has without resorting to abortion. Not only has she not had an abortion but has birthed a child with Down’s Syndrome. I believe the hate directed at Sarah Palin is a psychological projection from ambitious professional educated woman for achieving what they so desire without resorting to killing a child. Their hatred for Mrs. Palin is self-hatred. Instead of reconsidering their decisions and self-image they project their self-hate onto Mrs. Palin making her a caricature, someone less than human thus absolving them of guilt. Their thinking is, “she’s not like me so I don’t have to question myself.”

Psychological projection not only accounts for the treatment of Sarah Palin. It also explains why any limitations of abortion at the most extreme margins is unacceptable. Partial birth abortion? Nothing wrong there, there’s no person. Kill a baby that survives an abortion? Why not, it was unwanted and only through a fluke did it survive. If it’s not a person in the womb why should it be a person a short distance from the womb?

Once allowances are made that at some point a fetus is a person then how does one justify that a month, day or minute earlier it wasn’t? And if one were to truly consider that what was destroyed was a person…then logically in an abortion, a mother has killed her own child. Not only killed her child but perhaps done so for career, social and material advancement. I think anyone with a conscience would have much difficulty maintaining a healthy self-image with such a burden to bear.

It’s much easier and less psychologically troubling to kill the messenger.

It is just so obvious why the media “hates” Sarah Palin. It isn’t “hate,” it is strategy. John Z. – When I read your line that Palin was “not yet fully put together,” I was immediately reminded of Thomas Jefferson, who often answered the door himself at the White House. Jefferson loathed the perceived formalities and elitism of the Federalists and that led him to develop a super-relaxed presidency. Practically anyone was welcome to drop by.

He insisted that foreign ministers and heads of state be treated no differently than the gentleman farmer down the lane, which led to this funny incident in 1803: England’s new foreign minister, the delightfully named Anthony Merry, arrived in the new capitol city and came calling at the Presidential Mansion with all appropriate English pomp and circumstance and wearing full diplomatic regalia. But for several minutes, Secretary of State Madison was unable to find the president. Finally, Jefferson appeared, wearing slippers and what could only be charitably described as business casual.

Merry was not amused, and never called on Jefferson again. But it wasn’t so much of a tweak of a stuffy Brit by a Francophile than the tossing away of all convention by a pure radical.

This is for the ill-informed person who mentioned Sarah not knowing that Africa was a country. I guess he didn’t get the news that it was a hoax created by two guys with a blog who identified themselves as McCain staffers. It was all over the news how these two guys manipulated the media. The crap about the baby’s true parents is ridiculous and a distraction–but on the actual, relevant issues, she was given a more than adequate chance to express herself in fair settings, and all that came out was blathering-don’tcha-know talking points, deception, and ignorance.

Having the record corrected would be nice, particularly in Palins childrens case, but it’s not important to me as I have no real faith in any media any longer of any kind. Even if they made an effort to correct themselves on a factual level, it would still come out as backhanded and insincere and be qualified with another wave of nonsense like the rape kits, sex ed policy, bridge earmarks, etc. What’s done is done and frankly, I’ll enjoy watching the big ‘O’ man roll around on a spit over the coals for a term or two.

While I thought Palin was great and would have voted for the Republican ticket if she was the President nominee instead of VP, (I voted for Chuck Baldwin) she should have had nothing to do with McCain whatsoever.

This is a great article and video. Palin is as beautiful and composed as she always seems. I knew that the smear tactics of the left were just that and hoped that the majority of the population wouldn’t give in to the news media’s misrepresentations of her. One does not fight (alleged) media bias by becoming a sycophant to a politician. I can’t believe you think you have some journalistic integrity.

The media should be scrutinizing what a politician does and says. I’d rather have a media that looks at every candidate with a contemptuous glare than have to dig through your aroused fawning.

Her defense of the “what newspapers do you read?” question was appalling. I don’t doubt that she reads newspapers. But to get so defensive over a simple question is absurd. The question was quite germane, since Palin slammed the media during the campaign, and prior to the Couric interview.

I find it funny there was no comment on the other boner in that interview, Palin failure to name a Supreme Court case besides Roe she disagreed with. When your campaign makes one of its top priorities a fight against an alleged activist judiciary, you as a responsible lawmaker ought to have some specific examples to tell the public.

But Palin doesn’t have specific examples. Even her comparison of Michelle’s treatment is wrong. The media scrutinized many of her actions and statements for whatever insinuations they could invent. Remember the fist jab? Just to give one example of the absurdity. All Palin has, and all she gave in this interview was worn-out conservative doggerel.

I hope she runs in 2012. You will see in the Republican primary that is not only Democrats who have a monopoly on calling her stupid.

Camille Paglia, a strong supporter of Obama and the liberal approach was the lone voice of reason in the media in her take on Palin. She saw and wrote repeatedly about Palin in positive terms. The rest of the media just further eroded the one quality they might’ve possessed-their credibility in their coverage of Palin. The general public sensed the things you witnessed. It was too bad she was teamed up with McCain. McCain was just a inside hack with little to offer but more of the same. Again, well done for an intellectually honest approach to your project.

Governor Palin asks a great question at the beginning of the clip. What is it about people and the “mainstream media” that causes them to believe the worst about people and writing stories that are not fully authenticated. there is a simple answear here, let us not forget that the media was given absolutely zero access to governor palin, especially at the onset of her vice-presidential run- starting at the convention. This is unheard of her potential exectuive candidates, especially one who was so unheard of. Of course if you will not allow access and refuse interviews you a re creating a media vacum that will publish mostly gossip and hearsay. I, however, do not blame Governor Palin- I believe the onus is on the McCain campaign and there obvious belief that Palin was uncapable of handling herself with the press.

Great interview. I believe “one” of the reasons she was so viciously attacked during the campaign was because of her Christianity. I agree with Ken; McCain ruined her. Hopefully not for the future though. I stand with her in her Christian values. And I feel that America was presented with a choice in Nov; choose good, or choose evil. We know what was choosen… I can only pray that God will restore America, somehow.

To Pablito: I think the purpose of the article was that what the mainstream medium ‘documents’ is not always to be believed.

There were far more incidents of voice recordings of people warning of violence related to Obama’s candidacy (should he lose, should the delegates elect Hillary, etc) than Palin.

Speaking to your platform is hardly ‘hateful.’ And Palin no more incited calls to violence than Obama does by having his supporters say they wish current Executive admin members be killed.

Please answer a question for me. Have you honestly, 100% as unbiased as you can, considered the content of this article and asked yourself….have you been influenced by misinformation against Palin? Be honest. The majority of her reported ‘misstatements’ have no proof of ever occurring.

You said what I’ve thought about Hillary Clinton so very well, better than I’ve ever been able to express. Thank you. What has she taught her daughter and other young women and girls? That it’s ok for your husband to continually cheat and publicly humiliate you as long as you get something out of it for yourself, as long as it benefits your career. What does it say about marriage to young women? A very bad message.

As for the added remarks about the self-hatred of the Palin-hating liberal women, I would add that I believe they are insecure, that Palin makes them feel their insecurities. They are forced to look in the mirror and see that what they believed about feminism and what they have been fed by the media and Hollywood is a failure. Sarah Palin represents what is good in our country. She and any like her is what our country needs, but I think our country has to hit bottom before it will get better or change. So, a documentary of Sarah Palin is being made by someone who confesses to being a fan up front. Why should anyone expect anything truly revealing here? I watched some parts and really saw nothing different than any of the many Fox interviews.

Sarah seems like a nice person but she got revealed during the campaign as “not ready for prime time”. She never displayed any depth of knowledge about any of the pertinent issues of the day. The media saw that and did what they should do, called her out on it. Politics is a tough business and any candidate should be ready to take the heat. Sarah was clearly not ready for the VP spot and most of America saw that including many conservatives.

The continuing line of Palin apologists is old. Why can’t you just accept that she wasn’t ready for the job at this time? Maybe in the future she’ll try again and be better prepared. More power to her. But in the meantime you continue to make her look like a weak whiner with all this “the media is so mean to me” garbage.

I, too, murdered my unborn child out of convenience. I carried that guilt and weight around for the about 13 or 14 years but I have since been forgiven by our Lord and learned how to forgive myself. I think the way both H. R. Clinton and S. Palin were dealt with displays a clear fact, sexism is alive and well. I never heard a snippet about Biden’s wardrobe nor do I care; however, we heard ad naseaum about Palin’s clothes and Hillary’s cleavage. I thought it refreshing that Palin had to go out and get “fancy” clothes and all that she had was run of the mill normal American – non prestigous clothes. Hillary’s cleavage – she is a women. However, did we hear at all about Biden’s hair plugs and botox? – very little.

The press should be embarassed. Where has journalism gone that they will not investigate clear at least “questionable” relationships of Obama but know everything about Joe the Plumber. It is sad. Russert would be very disheartened to see what has become of NBC/MSNBC. Snide and acidic comments of KO are detrimental to our country.

If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Obama was raked over the coals but that was early in the year because they started campaigning early. Funny how easily some people will forget that in order believe that it didn’t happen. Palin received a lot of media attention primarily because no one new who she was and she was running for a national office. Natural the media will flock because she is new. How it goes from their was mostly up to her. She should not make stupid statements about seeing Alaska from her home. Sure it seems a simple off the cuff statement not meant to be factual. That may seem like a non-starter for Alaskans, but it’s a big boo boo in national politics. But I think the greatest demise of Palin has to do with the republican party, not Palin herself. Palin came out as a regular joe, which she is, and I believe America did like that, it WAS her appeal. My definition of mainstream media are the organizations that rank the highest in viewership. Fox News IS mainstream media, they almost consistantly have 8 of the top 10 news shows. The problem with Gov. Palin is that she is just too normal for all the elitist leftists to accept. All you folks that like to condemn her for her lack of intellect should remember that she like most of us probably doesnt spend more than she makes and she can probably balance her own checkbook. No, Sarah is not an intellectual snob. We have plenty of them in Congress and for all their high minded intellect and their elitist education, look at the mess they have gotten us into and they still dont have the cojones or the common decency to own up to it like a decent person should do. Look! Sarah Palin’s public image was not assasinated by the media. It was suicide. She did it to herself by (1) accepting John McCain’s Vice Presidential offer and (2)showing the entire world how unprepared she was for the job for which she was interviewing. The Gibson and Couric interviews along with the vice presidential debate simply provided the vehicle for Palin to do a hit and run job on herself. In all honesty she is probably a great person, decent, very family oriented. But what is not is a person who is ready for prime time on the political stage. I doubt the same will be said of her in the next year or two when she has had time to learn what she needs to know. But unitl then all of the Sarah-huggers in this country need to relax and stop if with the liberal media conspiracy theories. The reason Joe Biden did not get as much bad press for his public gaffes is that he has being making them for so long nobody pays attention and despite his obvious problems with foot in mouth disease, he at least knows a little bit about world politics, domestic policies and foreign relations.

I liked the article and can only give the author the benefit of the doubt and accept his writing as fact since I have no imperical data to the contrary. In contrast, there is NO imperical data to support the assertion that Trig is other than Sarah’s son, nor do I have any data or facts to prove that the MSM is in the tank for Obama and the libs other than observation. Of course, there is NO SCIENTIFIC data to support Global Warming mania either but it doesn’t prevent people from buying into the THEORY. During mush observation over several months of this past campaign, it became apparent that the types of questions, headlines (the way the lead/mislead), use of Republican when bad news, no mention of party affiliation when Dems have bad news, ect, it was clearly biased towards the Dems. Thank you for doing this story. The last time we saw this degree of hate mongering from the media against a presidential candidate was in the 1980s against Ronald Reagan, and it only increased after he was elected. I believe it is inspired by the same reason. I just viewed the interview video with Sarah Palin. I listened for nine minutes and two seconds to Palin whine about all the poor treatment her family received. While she was a candidate, every time one looked at television, there was a photo of her ENTIRE family on stage at some political rally. If Palin had kept those children off center stage, as she should have done, her family would have received lots less criticism than they did!

I think Palin needs more time to be ready for national office. However, snotty comments like slycats, reveal a smugness that serves noone well, including his political views. So to say `She never displayed any depth of knowledge about any of the pertinent issues of the day’ is naive at best, and I suspect Philip isn’t naive, but rather dishonest or just stupid.

Yes, Palin was attacked by certain elements of the media (I say “certain elements of the media” because there is in fact no such thing as “the media”). So? CBS was unfair to her? OK. ABC was unfair to Obama.

She was attacked — so was/is Barack Obama (e.g., “Barack the Magic Negro”). So were all the others in the campaign. So is anybody who runs for political office anywhere in the US, whether it’s POTUS or Dogcatcher of Podunk Holler. That’s how it is, always has been, and always will be, and part of being a winning candidate means being able to deal with it. It is part of the job description, and if you can’t handle it, you should try to do something else with your life.

Attacking the media will get Palin nowhere. Barack Obama understood that, which is why he will soon be moving into the White House. Sarah Palin didn’t, which is part of the reason why she is doing whining interviews like this one.

Just like Joe the Plumber, she was plucked from obscurity, and has returned to it. I hope she keeps this sort of thing up. They also expect and get a return on their investments. For people to say there is not an elite media bias is absurd. I watched a discussion on television regarding the lack of African-American coaches in college football. Admittedly, there should be more. However, there were two college professors on the panel. One was from an Ivy League College. They talked about the awful SEC and Big 12 conferences and their history of racism, etc. Some real, some imagined. NOT ONCE, however, did they bring up the Ivy League. Even though one of the professors was from the Ivy League. The fact is just the other day, the SECOND African-American head football coach in the history of the Ivy League was just hired. Not a word from the journalist about this point. It’s almost like they assume that elites like colleges and the media are immune from this kind of scrutiny.

Also, Sarah Palin suffered because she did not attend an Ivy League school, and a state school at that. The media believe that a top private college is a prerequisite for most any job. Although they are opposed to school choice. Also, the same liberal college professors and media types who defended a poltician for branding hunters racist (This really happened and I still do not get the connection) are the most the most biased and intolerant people I know. If you are a person of color that does not agree with them they believe you must be stupid or an “Uncle Tom” *(i.e. – Condoleeza Rice, Michael Steele, Clarence Thomas and Colin Powell (until he supported Obama and immediatlely became a genious))because you certainly could never think for yourself.

The media and liberals believe that only they can have opinions and amke decisions of their own free will. If someone else makes a decision it must be because they are dumb, racist, or both.

Politics comes down to basic playground etiquette. Americans (especially Gen X and Y) don’t like a bully. Palin was viewed as a bully, who incidentally was the new kid at school, who spent her first recess sucker-punching the smart kid. Her convention speech was cocky. She underestimated how many people were growing to love that smart-kid do-gooder community organizer Barack Obama. As much as you hate to hear this — the majority of Americans dont listen to Rush Limbaugh. And even less people in my generation know who he is. So, Palin’s big “red meat” speech actually hurt her more than it helped her. You cant be mean and cocky, when no one knows who the hell you are, and when the person you are punching, isnt punching back. That is how Palin became a villian. I didnt care if she knew geography. I thought she was too mean and cocky to be VP.

Here’s a news flash for you conservatives – Gen X and Y are not into venom, in the same way that Baby Boomers are. We are a generation that didn’t march, and scream and yell. We’re a kindler, gentler breed (for better or worse). Ann Coulter and OReilly and Rush – they seem like jerks to us. We dont even stop long enough to listen to what they say, because they are so douchy. They start up fights for their own job-security, not for what is good for the country. John Stewart and Rachel Maddow use humor, coolness, a smile and a shrug. It’s way more attractive. Like it or not, we are a style-before-substance generation. I actually like many of the conservative ideals. Im just so turned off by the loud-mouthed style of the figure-heads of the conservative party that I would never want to be in your club. Maybe if Bobby Jindal ran. He seems like a cool guy. But Id have to see.

So, if you ever want to win an election again, or a pull a decent rating in 2015 (as your beloved Baby Boomers die off), try a different tac. We like cool. We like nice.

What’s truly pathetic is that people don’t think its fair for her to be asked tough questions. In fact, I think the media went way too easy on her. And if she has the gall to run for the Presidency, just watch other Republicans will do to her in the primaries.

Anybody can plainly see that the media was biased during this campaign – on both sides. We tend to forget about FOX news as well.

Unfortunately, I was not measuring the infractions against each party. If you read anything about buddhist philosophy, media is always classified by their standards as ‘negative’. The main classification for this is that people, by design, seem to be drawn toward the fear, uncertainty and doubt of this world. If the news catered toward the positive events we faced each day, viewership would spiral towards the ground and news coverage would have to invent something drastic in order to gain those viewers back. If it is shocking that media must create headlines in order to sell shows, think National Enquirer and why this publication has yet to leave the impulse buys at your grocery store.

In any election, muckraking is commonplace. I expect this as an individual as we’ve lowered our standards on what is acceptable and what is appropriate. I feel that it is my responsibility to then wade through the ‘muck’ and formulate my own opinions.

If you really believe that the O’Bama camp won this election solely based on the media, my opinion is that you are wrong. However, I won’t dismiss the media. I think what you have to look at is the ‘O’Bama Epidemic’. While I’m no epidemiologist, it seems blatant that the campaign focused on creating an O’Bama brand and focused on connecting this idea to Americans. The O’Bama team created an infectious feeling in the country and brought people together who otherwise wouldn’t associate. This was plainly obvious on election night. I was in San Francisco, CA for business and the streets were over-whelmingly flooded with folks, cheering in celebration. Had McCain won, you have to wonder would the same people take to the streets and celebrated.

The campaign came down to stickiness. The ideas that O’Bama presented stuck. Furthermore, Connectors and Mavens (to quote Malcolm Gladwell) played a huge part in the grass roots awareness. It appeared that while the O’Bama camp spent weekends knocking on doors, the McCain camp took days off, losing critical ground.

I think republicans need to blame themselves for not winning the election. Sure, the liberal base may say that they were ‘out of touch’ or ‘rooted in idealogies that seem to not work in our day and age’ and i say ‘rubbish!’. They should have focused on creating an epidemic around Sarah Palin, who was by far the stickiest element to the campaign.

I voted for O’Bama, but I’m a centrist. I didn’t dislike Sarah Palin. I was just as wowed as everyone else. Never had America been presented with a lady, and, on top of that, one that was so ‘down to earth’. Rather than embracing these admirable attributes, Republican leadership chose to abandon McCain. Truthfully, this began with Ann Coulter remarks that she would vote for Hillary if McCain was nominated. This created inconsistency within the Republican base. How is one of the biggest advocates of conservatism suddenly jumping ship?

In media, one of the most powerful tools you can implement is consistency. If you tell one person the same thing every day, they will begin to believe it. If that same person hears that same message from someone else, it has stuck!

Sure, the O’Bama camp had many negative marks on it’s report card from the Ayers ploy, Rezko ‘real estate scandal’, ‘Wright Racism’, and now ‘G-Rod constituional infedelity. Regardless of what was there, the message portrayed was consistent and reinforced.

Regardless of what you believe, there is much research on the effect of stickiness in advertising campaigns. The goal of any advertising campaign is to create that stickiness and get you preaching the gospel for them… think of five….

I get a kick out of people who think Palin will run and be a viable candidate in 2012! Who was the biggest drag….McCain or Palin???

It seemed a bit mysterious, why Governor Palin’s health records were such a secret, and only released on the eve of the election. She seemed adamantly determined to keep those personal health records from advanced public scrutiny, a most unusual stance for a candidate for such high office. What on earth was the lady hiding so grimly?

Could it be that, since the date of her first delivery is known and also the date of her marriage, being a public record, is also known . . . that her health records would reveal to all that this first birth was not premature, but full term, and that it strongly indicated the conception occurred before her marriage?

And that is exactly what the medical record showed, that the birth of her first child was full “term,” which means 9 months, plus or minus 2 weeks. Yet the lady gave birth only 8 months after her elopement marriage. Such marriages are often rushed, for pregnancy reasons, and that seems to have been the case here.

This certainly would have been damaging in the election for one who professes such fundamentalist views and such personal virtue as the Alaska governor. She, after all, has been an ardent promoter of premarital chastity and abstinence, and an equally ardent opponent of sex education.

Seems to make her a hypocrite, no?

Why does anyone continue to give this woman any attention at all? She can’t run her own family, she can’t run the state of Alaska, and she surely should never be in the position to run our country. A real woman would be taking care of her family first, not letting her 15-16 year old kid (at the time) running around having unprotected sex, and not seeking media attention with everything she does.

Even the McCain people distanced themselves very quickly from this woman once they realized it was over. Very quickly. That, in of itself, speaks volumes.

Can you imagine what this woman is really like without the handlers, without the makeup, without the expensive clothes, and without the cameras? Can you imagine the vapid landscape underneath it all?

As someone mentioned, this again was another softball interview, probably with the questions arranged in advance. For instance, why didn’t you follow up and ask her what she does in fact read specifically, rather than let het give her generic-campaign-taught-after-the-fact answer? Then when/if she names the Wasilla Gun Gazette, ask her what the lead story was. She won’t have a clue.

Ah well … one only hopes that diehard Republicans & Limbautarians hang their hats on this insipid woman for the next couple of important national elections. It’ll be fun.

I think that Palin could have sounded a lot better in all of her interviews if she knew how to operate sentence construction properly. The problem is that when she moves outside of what she knows intimately, she begins to talk in circular patterns, misplacing subjects and nouns and dropping prepositional phrases out of the sky like UN Food Drops. No doubt, she made the alaskans happy by redistributing the oil-wealth, and she’s got a pretty face, but her utter isolation (in every sense: political, social, racial, economic, cultural, geographical) makes her ideally unqualified for any kind of national office. I wouldn’t even want her on my school board.

However, as we know from former VP hopeful Sarah Palin is that this is where the actual headlines are created. Obama has so many skeletons in his closet as well as his inconvenient associations that were “thrown under the bus” that he needed an entire
fleet of buses to run over them all!

While Obama made ludicrous comments like “I have been to 57 states with one more to go”…and talking about “people clinging to their guns and
religions”….his halo never once tarnished. Oh, and Biden’s gaffes
are almost too numerous to list. Yet, those were fairly ignored by the
MSM.

The media dumbed down the mindless drone sitcom watching American pop. Most Americans work long hours and rely on the MSM to “educate them”. Those of us who had the time and desire looked up our own facts and did our own research on the internet. Very few people were educated about BO’s Illinois senatorial record (an eye opener).

Sarah will be back. Americans will soon be begging for someone with her moxy after Obama finishes us off by putting our economy deeper into the well. We will all suffer over the next four years, because most Americans just elected their next “American Idol” for POTUS.

It is unfortunate that most American never read the works of Marx and Lenin. We are woefully ignorant of basic economics. As a country, most young are only aware of Leno’s World News and The Late Nite News hosted by Dick Letterman. (oops, Freudian slip)

When she runs again in 2012, I will seriously consider voting for her to be US president.

I can only surmise that the continued HATE PALIN rhetoric continues to this day because she is a perceived threat to the liberals. Wow! People feel pretty strongly about Gov. Palin. Who would have thought a small town mayor and popular governor would be such a polarizing individual? 1) tax and spend policies that will deepen the economic crisis (why are we facing this any way – is it too much to ask for someone to follow the money trail to see who actually profitted through this / like who benefitted from Fannie and Freddie????)even though it seems someone thinks we can spend our way out of this.
2) Our enemies will become inbolded as the coming spending cuts in our military will weaken our country. This will end with Iran getting the BOMB – who is going to actually try and stop them.
3) Further “Green” policies will restrict economic growth also adding to the worsening economy. This is what happens when politics warps science to fit an agenda.
4) Unemployment hits record levels as the economic crisis worsens but the goverment keeps growing.
5) And lastly ( and possibly the easiest to make) Bush for the years to come will continue to take the blame.

Thank GOD Palin is out there. She and others like her need to put conservative values back into the SPINELESS Republican Party.

Oh was it just me or did Obama sound more conservative at times while McCain sounded extremely LIBERAL during the elections. And we wonder why we lost.

Your so-called “mainstream media” fell all over themselves after her convention speech, praising her poise and panache in every major media venue. The result? An outsize convention bounce. For the first and only time in the campaign, McCain moved the needle in the polls against Obama, to the point that (however briefly) he actually led in most national polls. Then Sarah Palin started doing interviews.

Everyone I know who thinks Palin is an airhead thinks so because of things that she has said–not because “the media” came out and “smeared” her. We listened to what she said and found it to be fatuous, intellectually stunted, hypocritical, incomprehensible, or just plain wrong. The minute she started opening her mouth without a teleprompter in front of her, it became painfully obvious why McCain and the GOP had kept her under wraps for so long after she was added to the ticket. I have a theory. Without belaboring the obvious, the liberal movement is dominated by good ‘ol fashioned MCP’s, who tolerate females as long as they are gay or … let’s face it, not too attractive. Couple that with the fact that info-babes such as Couric are well known to be viciously competitive and do not like to be upstaged in the “cute department”. And along comes sweet Sarah to crash their party. The fact is, these libs know exactly who Gov. Palin is ….. a serious contender — a conservative rock star who can wrap a crowd around her finger .. who can slice and dice libs with a smile. I posit that Sarah Palin is exactly the type of citizen the founders envisioned as a leader of this country; and, if her message is honed, she will resonate from sea to shining sea. She’ll be back!!

They lost because of McCain. McCain is no conservative, and was not nominated because of Republicans or independent conservatives. He was nominated because of Democrat cross over votes in early primaries – the very same thing the Democrats were stomping mad about when the tables were turned and Republicans crossed over and voted for Hillary to keep her in the race. This is why I believe there should be ONE, single national primary. I’m sick of our nominees being decided by only a handful of states and the rest of us are stuck with it.

I had seriously considered sitting out the race until Palin entered the fray. She was the only interesting thing, to a conservative, in the whole campaign. McCain is unpredictable, hot headed, two-faced, disloyal, and arrogant. I’ve never spoken to a true conservative that wanted him on the ticket. I didn’t like most of the choices, and neither did others. We felt we had few real choices in the race, but McCain was the least of them.

TRISH- You are so right….we must support an alternate viewpoint. One of the things BO said that he would do immediately is make sure that the fairness doctrine is put into place. Free Speech? Paid programs and paid advertising….??? It might be the death of talk radio. There are not enough liberals available to balance out conservative talk radio…nor will there be enough pocketbooks to pay for the shows, just ask Al Gore about Air America.

Sarah Palin made a few mistakes during the campaign, yet we heard nothing of the countless speaking and intellectual errors of Joe Biden and Obama. Biden is gaffe-prone and Obama daily makes speaking errors, let alone his continuous “ums” and “uhs”. Any sane and reasonable person would know there is an obvious bias in the media and anyone who doesn’t see this is blind. It’s that simple. You misinformed Obama voters have all been fooled…thanks for the new socialism.

MURDERED. Gee, I object to that, but I don’t object to her
daughter’s photos she posted on FaceBook holding booze bottles
at her age, and her pregnancy, and her future mother in law’s
arrest for drugs .. These things are FACTUAL. She didn’t know
that Africa is a CONTINENT. Come on ..she can’t defend these things, so she doesn’t mention them. She really is a whiner. No substance. A beauty queen with power, but exposed for her lack of perhaps qualifications for VP, and altho she can’t reign in her own children, she wants to legislate what YOUR daughter can do if she gets pregnant. Her daughter probably DREADS having to marry this boyfriend. Her mother will make her get married. She has no choice. She might be miserable forever, having her mother expose all this to the world. Palin is a very self-centered person. She got what she deserved. Public humiliation.

Yeah! Sarah for President! She rocks and those who oppose are just threatened by her. After Barack gets done destroying our country we will truly need Sara to help right the course. Things are going to go from bad to worse real quick, and I will say “I told you so” to any Barack supporter, but he will pave the way for our first woman president, competent and confident Sara Palin. The media probably did help spread some falsehoods about her, but with all the naked pictures of her that surfaced on the internet it seems like she would have been too ashamed to talk about it…
