Boxer’s Book Signings: Bold, Open Forums
by JudeNow look, as one artist to another, I was determined to leave Barbara Boxer’s book signing events for Blind Trust off-limits. Considering her intellectual gifts, many of you might still be surprised that she would stoop to the political thriller genre. Why not a sweeping history of American achievement, say, or perhaps a scholarly rebuttal to The Myth Of Matriarchal Pre-History?
Not a Townhall meeting… (Photo: MoreMarin.com)
After co-authoring her second book in spite of very little demand, it must be difficult to shoulder the meet and greets all by her lonesome. Yet, today’s news tells me that the word has already gotten out, so, in the interest of free public debate, consider this a humble public service announcement. Senator Boxer will be signing and reading from her new book this weekend – enjoy:

No Townhall meetings with her constituents are scheduled for our renaissance Senator during this national debate on health care, so this might be as close as you can get. You read that right. She’s very busy. Last night she did take some general questions, so if you attend, be civil and please, leave any Nazi garbage out of it. It may seem funny or rebellious since Pelosi launched it as a smear, but it only undermines important discussion. Plus, you’ll get thrown out much more quickly.
Here are my two suggestions for peaceful protest. First, someone (maybe Chuck Devore?) should organize a flashmob RickRoll during one of her readings. That would make him a legend, at least in my corner of the world. Boxer might even enjoy it. She seems like a nice lady and I’m told that she really is…..oh, wait, I just read the article again…
The story pits short-statured Senator Ellen Fischer–who happens to be a Democrat (sound familiar?)–against a power hungry, civil rights trampling Vice President (sound familiar?) in a universe populated by characters like “Sam Slaughter,” a right-wing radio host without principles (sound familiar?). As the Senator told the audience, “You write about what you know.” Boxer, who has written one previous novel, A Time To Run, told the crowd she found writing fiction “therapeutic.” At one point she made reference to a point in the book where the Vice President faces the possibility of impeachment–
“It was very cathartic writing a book like that,” she said to big laughs from the audience, just before beginning to read an excerpt from the book.
While she was reading, protesters outside the store, pressed their signs to the windows. When one particularly offensive sign went up, the Book Passage people lowered the blinds much to the Senator’s–and the audience’s–relief. As she moved to the question and answer period, someone shouted “Vote for Peace!” before they were ushered away by security personnel. Most of the Q and A time was reserved for questions specifically about her book, but Boxer did take a few general questions from the audience. Not surprisingly, all of them–with the exception of a single rambling 9/11 conspiracy wing-nut–were about the health care debate. The only prickly moment occurred when the Senator pointedly requested that one audience member not point at her while she asked her question.”
Ok, so with that in mind, I think most signs should include the word “Ma’am,” as in “Ma’am, George Sand would be proud, proud, that you are here today co-authoring a book of fiction under your own name!” Now, about health care…

The throngs should chant "Hello maa'm, your not so fair, we don't want obamacare." just so she knows we all care.
It's depressing to realize that the likes of "Senator" Boxer (won't dignify her by calling her "Ma'am") has two published two books when people with real writing talent can't get one published. Do her books sell anywhere besides California and DC?
For that matter, it's depressing that someone of Boxer's limited talents and brain power is a Senator when half of the posters here have a better grasp of American history, Constitutional law, economics, foreign policy, and military protocol.
Ma'am,
you should be PROUD!
PROUD that your constituent, Jude, was so gracious enough to file your book-signing locations for a show of ….solidarity. Or something like it.
Actually, it's quite cathartic to no longer in the state that continues to reelect you. Fiction is such a peaceful world, isn't it? It can be. Like, LOL, the time I imagined you were out of office because you were impeached. LOL
Sheesh! Good times!

Sheesh! Good times!
Barbara Boxer's just an avatar for Barbara Streisand the nit-wit Hollywood jews really wish were running the country.
i say we rick roll the fishy tattle tale email at the white house.
I've actually read Cynthia Eller's book, "The Myth Of Matriarchal Pre-History". It's an interesting book because it's written by a feminist but points out the silly mythology that many feminists have hitched their wagons to.
Books like these are just masturbatory fantasies of the liberals, who wish for a perfect, utopian, liberal world that doesn't have any discordant conservative notes, or if they do, are easily swept aside as the mouthings of the ignorant rabble. The leftists do movies like that also (i.e. "Dave", w/ K. Kline, S. Weaver).
The two other people in that photo look like hostages.
It is better than "What do we want….and when do we want it?' for sure
I know that "audacity" is supposed to be a good thing now, but the fact that she is doing a book tour instead of discussing the 1000 page healthcare bill is beyond audacity.
o.k. Wheat, how about this, then? "What do we want?" "NO PUBLIC OPTION!" "When do we want it?" "We already have it, you silly ma'am!"

penhead – what do you mean "look like?"
Boy, I can’t wait for that book to hit the stores, I bet it’s a riveting tale of babbling horse squeeze that has no comparison except maybe Pelosi’s eh…hmmm …hit, “Know Your Power.”
A senator writing fiction? Say it ain't so. I now have a glimmer of hope that the current Health care bill will only be found in the fiction section.
penhead – GREAT COMMENT!
I laughed so hard I involuntarily let out a methane balloon and further damaged the atmosphere!!!!!
That is an excellent point.
now that was funny
[...] has no Town Hall Meetings Scheduled, but Senator Boxer will be doing some Book Signings: Boxer
historically, those kinds of books have been bought in quantity by people and organizations looking to evade campaign finance laws. don't know if that's the case here, but that ploy has been used before. i'm trying to remember a well-publicized incident of this abuse during the clinton years (not bill or hill- surprisingly- but a prominent dem), but can't quite come up with it. ring a bell, anybody?
I look forward to reading a review of Boxer's novel. That should be good for a few laughs.
Can we get a whole mess of people to attend a book event and have them just point at the Senator without saying a word . Just a room full of people pointing straight at her. That would be like holding a cross up to a Vampire me thinks.
Consrvativ_KDH a question: Will you send her by UPS, Fed-ex or United States Post Office? According to The One, I guess you should avoid the last choice. (giggle!)
Okay, I am old. What is "rick roll"?
Hilarious! I'm reporting you to Al Gore!
Boxer is such a tool – she's pathetic. "Protesters too well dressed to be authentic", my arse.
Good to see the senator taking time out from burning books to sign them. I'd have to ask her to write, "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog." inside so there's at least one useful sentence between the covers. As for pointing at the senator while speaking to her, I agree. Any fingers directed at the senator should be pointed up, and out of respect for her position, be the longest finger on the hand.
If she writes about what she knows it'll be blank pages. Here's to the hope that she can be a FULL-TIME author soon.
That would have been one-time Speaker of the House "Fort Worthless" Jim Wright. He published a slim book – his autobiography – where a number of pages had no more than one word. The Teamsters and some other union supporters bought thousands of this tome, benefitting Speaker Wright.

And let's not forget the NBC TV program, The West Wing, that ran for several seasons during the Clinton administration with Martin Sheen chewing up the scenery as the tough-but-caring Liberal President. There was a choir/music director at my church – extremely talented but both she and her husband were flaming knee-jerk libs – who declared that the Martin Sheen character "is MY (her) President."
OK- that explanation makes sense. Think Boxer's book will "sell" more or less copies than Pelosi's (`3K copies)?
NOOOooo! Use the US Postal Service. And don't forget to put lots of air holes in the box (use a long, sharp knife).
Bob Roberts, Bullworth…
No – the book will have PICTURES and most of them wil have been colored in by Senator "Babs" herself!
That would be SO awesome. All these strangers pointing at her, saying "Ma'am, ma'am, ma'am…" LOL!
I think you'd have to color the pictures. You know, spread the work around.
Who read it to her?
… and here all along I thought that the only papers a Boxer should have is an AKC registry. Indeed, it is maddening. Why is he first thing the infamous get is a book deal – in Bab's case, she has time to write fiction, but no time to read these bills? Good fiction comes in all forms.
OMG Vince Flynn and Brad Thor are laughing the collective butts off. She wrote a political thriller? You gotta be kidding me. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! This is too good. The characters sound so so third grade. How high school creative writing course of her.
Why is it that these liberals have a puffed up view of themselves. ie. obama et al.
"she has time to write fiction, but no time to read these bills?"
Good point! I also wonder if she did this on her own time or the taxpayers.
it is an internet thing that has appeared in real life situation
wikipedia it
is wikipedia a verb?
If she wanted to write something useful, she should have done a "Health Care Bill for Dummies" to try to explain what that 1000 page abomination actually says. In bureaucratese, it would probably be several volumes and more confusing than the original.
How about a nice simple sign that just reads:
No Maa'am!
That would require reading the bill and we all know she's above that.
Hey Jude
Could you at least credit our photo if you are going to use it in your own blog? The photo of Barbara Boxer was taken by MoreMarin.com.
barbara boxer is a disgusting person. listen the John Ziegler show of the July 16th about it.
(KGIL 1260)
It's is now… thanks to YOU!
BTW, is Tor Johnson your avatar? I pass by a house frequently that has a "for sale" sign in the front yard. The listing agent's name is Tor Johnson, and I always think to myself "Tor Johnson shows up to give potential buyers the tour. No wonder it's been on the market so long."
Great post! Thanks for the locations. Too bad I'm no longer a legal resident of California. Any ideas if she's coming up to the PNW? I think there should be a concerted, organized, choreographed effort to point fingers at the woman and call her ma'am at every opportunity possible. The choice of finger is, of course, left to the pointer's descretion!
Now THAT's funny!
The reason why Jude refers to Boxer as Ma'am is because of the great "undressing" she heaped on that military officer that addressed her as "ma'am" during a hearing. (Abiding by military protocol.) BIG hoopla over that word. That's the reason to call her ma'am. I really can't bring myself to call her that anymore than I can let the name of the president squeek through my lips or even, in fact, call him the President. There are many other words to describe her–tcreative, funny, but not fit to print! I think Jude is suggesting that we find the weaknesses, those things that drive them crazy, then heap these things on them. These people are narcissistic, selfish, spoiled brats with suits and power. They want to be loved and respected. Anything else and their heads will explode.
Then give her a finger….:)
lol
I like Tor in Ed Wood's movies
I think "wiki" is a verb. At least that how we young'uns use it.

pretty much do that every time I see her.
I look forward to reading Boxer's novel in bed- I have had sleep difficulties for a long time and it sounds like the perfect cure.
No, AJ you don't get AKC papers for a mutt

Great idea–and you definitely want to use the Post Office, so it absolutely, positively won't get there overnight!
Multi-millionaire Boxer.
They are experiencing Stockholm syndrom.
Nice try, troll. Have you already flagged the site under your alternate name to flag@whitehouse.gov ?
That's how it's done in Canada.
ps You're not really Richard Warman, are you?
Look out Michelle Malkin (just kidding).
As for my own thoughts on the matter…..
BOXER UP AND SHIPPER HOME.
(Don't forget the little bow and wrapping paper. The people of California would like that…they need a gift, they're so screwed right now…)
Great report Jude. I am wondering why she would schedule these ridiculous book signings but not hold any meetings over the healthcare bill? Americans are mad about this healthcare reform and they should be able to have a chance to express their views to their own Senator who will be representing them. Hopefully this book doesn't sell at all, she does not deserve it one bit. This is one of the main problems with the current Senators and Representatives- they do not care about the people who have put them in office. This is why we must vote these type of people out in 2010!

I'm not sure I'd ask her any questions if given the opportunity. She's too well dressed for any answers she gives to be sincere.
Use a sword, or better yet, shoot some holes into it.
If you are going to do what do we want and when do we want it, it has to be really long and not catchy.
I think you are getting close.
"What do we want?" "No public option" "When do we want it?" "As soon as congress gets back from it's August recess, and Madame Boxer has finished her book tour."
done – thanks!
Only half? Throw a dart at the phonebook and you'll find someone with a better grasp.
Hahahaha! That's the winning comment on this thread!
thanks, that's exactly who i was trying to come up with. i knew someone here would remember it.
I look forward to seeing senator's book in the remainder bin.
Have to exclude the trolls and those from both side who just parrot talking points without thinking them through. Let's say four out of five…
As for the phonebook, don't forget that half of those folks (possibly more since smart working people often get unlisted numbers to minimize the telemarketer calls) voted for our current president. I think the odds are a lot better at Big Hollywood!
Jude, I don't know if if counts as a flashmob RickRoll in your book, but about 50 of my volunteers made up a mess of signs and linked up with hundreds of tea party protesters who made it clear what they thought of "Ma'am" Boxer's book signing in Danville yesterday. Here's some footage of the event. At the end, you can see Boxer leaving out the back door of her book signing to the chants of "Go 'ma'am'!" http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=76d_1250368527. Interesting to see how badly they outnumbered the clean energy jobs folks across the street.
