24 reasons to watch ‘24′ tonight despite Janeane Garofalo
by JudeI try to separate the art from the artist, I really do, especially among actors. The thing is, if you believe you can sense Garofalo’s hatred and disdain for us in her onscreen performance, you must be deeply sensitive. Whenever I feel myself doing that with an actor, I try to take a step back…. but then she said this the other day:
“The reason a person is a conservative republican is because something is wrong with them. Again, that’s science – that’s neuroscience. You cannot be well adjusted, open-minded, pluralistic, enlightened and be a republican. It’s counter-intuitive. And they revel in their anti-intellectualism. They revel in their cruelty.”
Tolerance.
And then she says this about Sarah Palin: “Of course she’s successful with a segment of the country because she represents that lesser segment of the country.”
Wow. Those are fighting words, you ugly little soul. No, that’s mean, and I don’t want to act like you just for the easy laughs. At least not here, in the ‘24′ blog! Please feel free to deeply insult many of my friends and family on the way to declaring yourself an arrogant, intolerant nut.
Meanwhile, we’re going to watch ‘24′ in the hopes that you are the mole. And maybe make fun of you.
See you in the comments!

Here's a bit of trivia…Garofalo and Rajskub have worked together before. What was the series?
She would be more believable as a mole
than as a trusted FBI techie who is so neurotic
about being upstaged by Chloe that she blackmails
a co-worker to illegally access Chloe's work.
I find it amusing that despite the fact that she wasn't the mole, her prattling narcissism is what allowed the real mole to succeed.
A self-involved liberal whose actions causes serious harm to others.
Couldn't be a more true to life example of the blinders of modern liberalism.
Dude – no kidding – Fox and FoxNews onlne for that matter seem to be leaning left – what gives? Believe me, Obama ain't what people wanted, it's what they got.
Not only will she be the heroine, she'll probably SAVE Jack.
Jeneane Garofalo is the strangest case for me. God help me, I've always found her very appealing on screen. Dare I say it…sexy and adorable. The Truth About Cats and Dogs, Mystery Men, Duane Hopwood, pretty much all of it. Then she steps out of character and her real persona is one step away from a homeless lady with a tinfoil hat pushing a shopping cart and screaming at invisible Republicans. It truly is a wonder.
At one point this ridiculous woman was asked why she had not been anti-war when the US was bombing Serbia, etc. Her explanation? IT WASN'T HIP. Whereas being anti-Iraq IS Hip. And that is how she views the world. She is, indeed, an "ugly little soul."
um, i think she actually has a point there. especially re; the sarah palin comment. sarah palin *does* represent the dummies of this country, and most conservative republicans *do* stand against intellectualism, learning, and all factual data that runs counter to their bible-based bullsnot. sorry, bub.
Skott works for Dubaku.
Dubaku is an undocumented terrorist.
a few years back i met her L.A. boyfriend. he was pissed that he'd just found out he was the "l.a. boyfriend". the new york boyfriend was cool with the situation, which i suppose says something about her taste in men.
Since I am on Central time, I have already missed it. Please, please, please make fun of her. She is a prime example of the phrase that my grandmother drummed into my pointy little head from childhood. "Pretty is as pretty does." Nasty little troll. Can't wait to read the blow by blow in the morning.
I mean, undocumented worker, doin' the job Americans won't do.
Dabaku is a pretty smooth talker.
FINALLY we're out of the Oval Office
awww… Dubaku has a soft spot?
Little bit of a yawn so far…
Well not every bad guy is totally evil…just wait til she finds out…that is if she is given the chance.
The O'Briens…yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're back, and little sister is gonna be in TROUBLE!
Good idea, tell everyone Chloe O'Brian is here.
SWEET – Morris is back!
curly haired kid and everything
MOLE!
Chloe disses Larry.
here we go… Chloe/Janice showdown in 3, 2, 1…
Go Chloe!
I'm watching Sanford and Son. The one where Lamont goes African and won't let Fred eat pork. I should live blog that.
Tom Cruise's little brother is here to help Dubaku….hmmm
I'm comin' Elizabeth!!!!!
Yeah, no one saw that coming. Why would anyone suspect Dubaku of having an ins. policy?
Torture her Jack!
love that episode! in the end when the Africans tell Lamont to respect his father more
People like her are why I left the Democratic party. They were so intolerant with their tolerance. I couldn't stand them. I much preferred the conservatives. They seem like much nicer people who aren't afraid of hard work to get what they want. The liberals are always whining and wanting the government to take care of them. Yeah, Janeanne, is gross, I used to be a fan, but now I dislike her.
Lamont wants Fred to call him by his new African name "Kalunda" Fred wants to know if that's Swahili for "Dummy."
I really do try to avoid character asassination, but when it comes to this sniveling little guttersnipe I can't restrain myself. Garafalo is just another in the long line of lefites that actually believes she's got brains. "Ugly little soul" doesn't even begin to plumb the depths of this girl's repugnancy. With out a trace of femininity, she looks like she gets dressed in the dark. When I would see her on that old VH-1 stand up comedy show, my first thought was always "what an ugly little girl". And her mis-placed, enormous ego only adds to her repulseivness. I never thought I would see a girl more thoroughly revolting, both on the inside and out as Madonna, but this pudgy, pustule of a girl surpasses even her. I would not call her a taxi to take her to hell.
Jude, you and I just became lifelong buds.
The President is a blunt woman…not sharp, blunt.
Isn't Garofalo a scientologist? And she judges others based on her wealth of reaserch indicating that repubs are deficient at the subatomic level?
I can't help it, I love the President.
Jack is giving the little sis a pep talk, CTU style
Me too!
Dubaku has an extra creepy smile from the side.
Cue nice Jack.
Of course she'll do it. She wants to see him again.
Heh. Chloe is dissin' Larry's stupid computer set up again.
Well, crap. Now i love the big sister. I've gone all soft this episode. Bring back Janice vs. Chloe!
Is this thing on?
Janice has just been fire-walled, and doesn't like it…
I love Chloe! Nice comments…LOL!
Aaron!
Pierce!
Aaron is insisting.
All right, Agent Pierce is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111
Garafalo the blackmailer.
sorry guys, i have to take someone to the emergency room – should be fine, but have to rune
catch up tomorrow!
The younger sister is a goner.
She doesn't have a prayer, and Garafolo's character got her killed. The FBI liberal geek got that woman KILLED.
Jack is gonna' flip big time, BIG TIME on Garafolo.
It's gonna' be beautiful.
The series is set up for a showdown between the irresponsibile airhead lib who got a woman KILLED, and Jack, who has oft been decried.
Dang, now Chloe is sayin' "copy".
I hope everything is okay Jude!
Looks like I spelled Janice's real name wrong.
Well, ———————————————- WTF.
I'm just a "CRUEL" person, who "revels" in my "cruelty."
Garafalo puts her curiosity above capturing Dubaku or making sure Marika is okay. She may not be a mole but she is a heartless bitch.
Well, with 10 minutes to go it looks like Jude's suspicions are correct. If Jack's gotta kill anyone I am glad it is Janeane!
One would think that since Larry knows there is a mole, he would have the mainframes guarded and monitored.
actually I think that miss g did not cause it, it was the adulterer that gave her the key~
Larry get me out of this speeding ticket!
And what does Jimmy Carter 2.0 Socialist Edition represent skott?? Go tune in to witness the morons (such as yourself) that elected him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm1KOBMg1Y8
You libtards also made fun of Reagan and tried to paint him to be an idiot as well, while you raise up the likes of morons Nancy Pelosi, Harry 'white flag' Reid, and Barney Frank as standard bearers for your pathetic jackass party.
Save a child. Abort a libtard.
Big mouth Garafalo spills the beans to the mole.
No one monitors outgoing calls at the FBI when they got a mole.
Now Dubaku now knows his girlfriend is going to help turn him in, thanks to Garafalo's loose lips.
Well, typical 24, unfortunately Janeane is just neurotic and it is her partner
So what are people's opinion about this episode?
skotty,
"most conservative republicans *do* stand against intellectualism, learning, and all factual data that runs counter to their bible-based bullsnot"
I consider myself conservative, and my previous career was in academia (intellectual stuff) So let's dissect this statement of yours.
conservative, pre-election: "I can't vote for Obama, he has no executive experience (fact), and most of his associations are with people who preach hate and violence (fact).
liberal response: "you're a racist then" (no fact, purely emotional).
conservative: "Is this 'stimulus' bill really what's right for the economy? I can't find anything in here that promotes small business growth or domestic production. And social programs don't generate future income, they just spend what they get." (Concern based on free market dynamics, and healthy distrust of congress)
liberal: "Bush got us into this mess, you're just a hater." (emotional response, doesn't address the concerns)
conservative: "while not all Muslims are terrorists, most major terrorist attacks internationally in the past decade have been by self-proclaimed muslims." (fact)
liberal: "racist. Radical christians are just as bad."
I could go on.
I'm not saying that ALL conservatives are intellectual thinkers, or that all liberals are emotional panty-waists — but that there are just as many ignorant and intellectual people on both sides. So, making a wide-sweeping assessment that conservatives are de facto ignorant, and not engaging in an intelligent debate, really only shows how ignorant YOU are.
Slap agent Walker Jack!
I assume your intellectual capabilities extend to understanding the "straw man" logical fallacy? Because you commit it here multiple times – perfect textbook examples. But thanks for the demonstration – I'll bookmark your comment and use it as a demonstration.
I think I like everything about garafolo except her political views. I have never seen anything else she has ever been in except a few interviews. She is a convincing actress. Mabey we can have a tasty catfight between her and chloe. Satisfy my catfight fetish and ugly girl fetish at the same time. Flaws make it better. Seriously, I am glad 24 is still on and I hope people keep watching it to keep ratings up so it will continue. My other fav show, the Unit looks to be in its last season. Good shows always get cancelled on me.
wow. what a mindbogglingly constructive dialogue. awesome.
spiro: missed your comment — i thus partially retract my last post & cannot offer anything in the way of a response to your, as i mostly agree with what you wrote.
gsw,
did you read my last paragraph, or were you in too much of a hurry to showcase your knowledge of "the strawman fallacy"?
But we can dream can't we? She may yet turn out to be the mole or at least an enabler of the bad guys. In which case, Jack is free to shoot, stab or otherwise dispatch her. 'Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished.
gee whiz, chitown. you sound kinda scared. poor baby. i may not be as far over to the left as your small, reptile brain may have assumed.
Conservatives love to stand against PSEUDO-intellectualism, yes. I must confess I missed the meetings where we ralied against learning: DOWN WITH ARITHMETIC! STOP READING KIDS, IT MAKES YOU BREAK OUT! I'm sure in skott's imagination these meetings occurred just before our weekly KKK shindigs. Then we all pile in the cars and head off to the "factual data" protest. Hey skott how about you stop thinking you're smart and start actually being smart?
Trish I expected Chloe to immediately discover the computer breach and know it was Janeane – when theat didn't happen I was surprised to find it was her partner who is the mole – typical 24 – like the Perils of Pauline – you never know how it's going to end – until it ends. I do like Agent Walker. I liked the episode – so far people's predictions of this season being a "pc" season with a softer Jack, aware of his transgressions and apologgetic – is proving unfounded. When I compare NBC's Heroes which to me has proven horrible to the 1st season (thought they would salvage the 2nd season) , 24 made good use of the time afforded by the writer's strike – at least that is my opinion.
But you indeed are as stupid as those morons on the far left.
And, BTW, your strawman in this case is actually a woman. Garafalo has used each of the above liberal arguments in televised debates.
Thanks for answering my question. I too like Agent Walker and next week looks to be interesting between her and Jack. I will be interested in seeing how Jack responds to her questions. I am enjoying this year so far and I am enjoying reading people's comments as the show airs.
Garofalo is just another mentally ill Hollywood leftist trying to work out her "issues" on stage and on screen. I'm certain that she was teased mercilessly when she was a child and went into stand-up as a way of talking back to those people who hurt her long ago.
I didn't like the idea of her being added to 24, but she's nicely cast as the insecure and homely computer techie who thinks she's much smarter than she is. What is puzzling to me though is how she got on 24. She must have one terrific agent who's charming, because she isn't.
Skott, I'm not sure why you say that; I am a conservative educator who more than embraces intellectualism and learning…oh, and tolerance for others' right to have thoughts and beliefs that differ from mine.
Sorry. I won't be caught dead watching that or any other show where that slimeball makes an appearance.
i suppose it was terribly naive of me to assume i could engage in some sort of meaningful or even remotely constructive dialog here. with the exception of a very small minority (spiro), there seems to be aught here but cowardly ignoramuses who get their kicks hurling insults at total strangers based on the posting of brief comments (mine surely couldn't have conveyed all that much about me and what sort of person i am… certainly not enough to call me "stupid").
i feel for you, mariaElena and chitown. i truly do. my best guess is that you must be shut-ins or something along those lines, and spend the better part of your days chair- or bed-bound attacking "liberals' from the relative safety of your computer keyboards, you poor, shallow, ignorant little half-wits.
it's a shame people can't express a dissenting opinion without being insulted. i suppose it was pretty crazy of me to have assumed that people –regular people like myself– might offer something of substance in return. anyway, you're all far too evolved for the likes of me. have fun putting those silly liberals in their place, folks.
yes, yes. apologies for the generalization there. but i must know what being a 'conservative educator' entails. is that somehow different from being a 'liberal educator'? i guess a better question would be; why would your politics (right, left, or center) even enter in to what you do as an educator? my apologies if i've misunderstood what you wrote.
Garofolo strikes me as someone who is still trying to sit at the "cool' table in the high school cafeteria.
Skott,
I tried to post a direct reply on your thread but it didn't take for whatever reason.
You said you came here hoping for an intellectual conversation. Great! I'm up for it.
You say that Christians are more or less anti-science and anti-intellectual. Were you aware that many of our most noted scientists were believers in a Creator of some sort? People like Einstein, Newton, Pasteur. I could list dozens.
Lemme respectfully recommend a couple links for you to check out. William Lane Craig and Lee Strobel are both former atheists who scientifically and intellectually explored the evidence for and against a Creator. (Craig especially is a BRAIN!! The guy is AMAZING!) Both eventually came to the conclusion that Christianity is, as C.S. Lewis wrote, "a reasonable faith", based on historical evidence and science.
I'm NOT asking you to believe what they believe, but I am asking you to approach it with the open mind you say you have and objectively examine the evidence for yourself.

I feel sorry for her dad. Watch Left of the Dial on HBO. He's a good man with clear moral sense. He tries to talk sense to her, but she very tellingly argues that her dad's point of view turned out to be wrong because the cool kids at college disagreed! That was her argument. As far as "neuroscience" goes, she couldn't be more obviously a clinical narcissist.
"it's a shame people can't express a dissenting opinion without being insulted."
No, the real shame is that liberals call conservatives names, and then whine when they get called names in return.
For your information, most conservatives would be happy to attack you to your face. We're the gun nuts, remember?
The only quintile of white voters that voted predominantly Dem in 2004 was the poorest of the five. The overwhelming majority of people with an undergraduate degree voted Republican in 2004. This is what us anti-intellectuals call "factual data." Does it make your vagina hurt, Skott?
And this is the problem with most liberals I run into: Overanalysis. Suzq was just saying they're a conservative who is also an educator.
As far as how this influences education; it shouldn't. With the good ones, you can't tell their political bias. However, I've noticed a growing trend among more liberal-leaning educators to force their viewpoints on their students (e.x. papers that require bashing conservatism, or aspects of conservative ideology, writing letters to Bush about what an idiot he is, flipping out when a conservative counter-point is made to an in-class rant, etc.). I've experienced it personally in college, though not as often as my peers who went to bigger colleges, and a few of my friends' kids have in their secondary schools.
I've never encountered a conservative teacher who does the same. In fact, I couldn't figure out the political ideology of most of my conservative teachers from high school until after I switched my major to AYA Social Studies and had to do interviews with them about the various ways teachers' attitudes influence the classroom. In fairness, the good liberal teachers were the same way.
Excuse me? csc5502 is right; you started off with "um, i think she actually has a point there. especially re; the sarah palin comment. sarah palin *does* represent the dummies of this country, and most conservative republicans *do* stand against intellectualism, learning, and all factual data that runs counter to their bible-based bullsnot. sorry, bub"
and then whine about not being able to carry on about being insulted.
This is one of those dummies… I'll take Jesus over your view of the world any day.

Bible based bullsnot? From one who expects some sort of "meaningful dialog? Why don't you go back to your main job? Biting the head off chickens in some carnival sideshow!
Greed: No– wealth.
Racism: What are you smoking? Do you know which party was founded on the goal of abolishing slavery and supported the Civil Rights Act when the other party stubbornly opposed it?
Sexism: Remind me again which of the 2008 presidential candidates paid their female staff the same as the men.
Xenophobia: As far as some people are concerned, Texas is a foreign place full of scary people.
Stupidity: Remind me again which party the NEA tends to vote for, overwhelmingly, and compare that with the performance of our public education system.
Well Armed Lefty, eh? What I wouldn't give to get you into a locked room with a steel baton and my S&W 1911. I'd teach you about "stupidity" punk.
Can anyone say they'd re-watch a single 24 episode that's aired this year? I have the previous years on DVD and watched them coming up to this year's season start, but I can't think of a single episode I'd want to watch over again! This Janene Garfalo (sp?) person is a pathetic little weasel, isn't she? How does someone like her ever get on TV? I mean, she's not entertaining to watch, even in the "riveting spectacle" sense, and her skin looks like she uses a lot of drugs or something. I've just about had it with 24 although I still like "Jack". I heard "Chloe" speak on talk radio, and she admitted she knows nothing about computers…..kinda spoiled her character for me.
Ah well, 24 has gone to s***, just like everything else in the world.
I've got a fevah and the only cure is Aaron Pierce!
Skott, with a "K" no less. Is that akin to "AmeriKa?" And your inner feelings?
I spent 25+ years serving this country to allow you to spout your enanities for a point of ignorance. What is your claim to "fame" and makes you so precient that you presume to tell me how and what I think.
I have been all over the world, sir, and have seen most iterations of governments and nothing holds a candle to what we have here. The tinkering and abasing you and your other "fellow travelers" are espousing to bring us down really upsets me and many of the service people that are standing in the front ranks between you the "madding crowd."
Be thankful, young man, and do some real studying to learn what a beautiful heritage you are out to derstroy. If you do, maybe my quarter century of service was not in vain.
I can't get past Janeane's mouth. Has she gone a little overboard with the botox injections lately? Like most actors, I wish she would just act and leave the politics for the politiciians. thhttp://the100mostannoyingthings.blogspot.com/
If Garafolo wants to indulge in psychologizing, she might be warned: "Don't go there, sister." I often wonder about the psychology of the Left, and have concluded that people drawn to collectivist and statist philsophies must have a strong streak of sado-masochism in their psyches. In some the sadistic part (that is, the desire to dominate and coerce) is stronger; in others, the masochistic part (the desire to be dominated) is more predominant. One can see the "S" side in fantasies of power and revenge; e.g. using the State to bully people to live, work and spend their money the way you would like them to; and the "M" side in the self-loathing, middle-class, "West Side Liberal" who feels he needs to be punished for his affluence by higher taxes . As for her remarks on cruelty, Garafolo is simply showing historical ignorance. See Erik von-Kuehnnelt-Leddhin's comprehensive and scholarly LEFTISM, which shows how cruelty has been a component of the leftist mentality since De Sade.
Aside from her silly comments that reveal the maturity of an eleven year old. JG can't act worth a lick and we have to watch her try to learn at our expense.
Seems to me that is a high price to pay for the viewer.
I think JG's comments can be easily dismissed; she says that conservatives are not intellectual, but as far as I know, she is not a member of Mensa herself. Besides, once "24" goes off the air, she'll go back to the relative obscurity she so richly deserves.
I'm sorry. I love 24, but Garafolo is killing it for me. She is SUCH a distraction from the story I just quit watching it. Too bad she's not the mole and would be gone. It's hard to watch the work of someone who hates me as much as she does, which is too bad, 'cause I used to like her. Same goes for that idiot Linda Ronstadt. I used to love her music, but after she made that puerile statement about not being able to enjoy performing if she knew conservatives were in the audience, I decided that I'll do her the favor of never listening to her sing again.
I never cease to be amazed that uber-liberals with money and the opportunities to travel and expand their horizons, to further their educations, both formal and informal, to expose themselves to all manner of humanity seem always to find only examples to reinforce their delusions.
Has she ever been to Alaska let alone read about it? Or, does she just fall automatically into the intolerance of uber-liberals for any thinking not identical to their own titanium-wired neural pathways?
LOL . What can you expect from a person who only talks this way when no one can hold her accountable for her needd to vomit on people who dare to disagree with her. It makes me happy I do all I can to avoid her claptrap of performances and simply place her on Jane Fonda "Don't watch. Don't care what they do" list.
Skott,
I love people like you who think they are intellectually superior to everyone around you. You sit there in your bullet proof ivory tower calling people out for calling you names. And, as you are doing so, calling them names for calling you names. Real intellectual stimulation!
"it's a shame people can't express a dissenting opinion without being insulted" – Skott. How do you feel about the Fairness Doctrine that your heroes in congress are getting ready to ram down our throats? You talk about quashing out dissent. This is a prime example of getting rid of opposition. You really need to stop drinking the Kool Aid and go on an actual fact finding mission. Who knows, you might even start to like yourself again.
You mean factual data like like that twit at NASA lied about the temperature of the earth, or Howard Zinn's rewrite of history or maybe the intellectualism of Ward Churchill? The truth about Palin that is hated by the left is that she is more experienced than President Obama and was never an organizer in a neighborhood that no one wants to live in but instead organized activities for the children that did not include guns and pagota robberies.
HEH, we're also martial artists and those horrible "trained killers" that the military turns out.
You all have to remember that Ms Garafolo is playing to a built-in audience.
I've seen her so called stand-up routine: some of it was truly funny, but there were quite a few times where the jokes fell flat, and many places where you could tell the laughter of the audience was strained. She then made the move to film, but except for 'Truth about Cats and Dogs', she has fallen pretty flat there too (sorry, but she came across as too bitter in 'Mystery Men'…or maybe that was just playing herself).
Now she's trying TV….
And this leads to the built-in audience: as long as she treats anyone that even tries to think like a conservative as a mental moron, as long as she bashes them publicly, she's assured of half the country thinking she's the next Olivia de Havilland, regardless if she can act or not.
Its the major problem with most so called 'stars', in Hollywood: they know who to pander to to get their daily fix of ego stroking. And make no mistake…actors get into this business for many reasons, but number 2 with a bullet is ego.
And since this 'bash conservatives/ego boost by the liberals' is a self reinforcing phenomena, its almost impossible to break the chain by simply throwing facts at the libs…they're too invested in how they 'feel'.
And since we now have a POTUS, House, and Senate that 'feels' as they do, well, welcome to 1984 ya'all.
I, long ago, decided to give up on any program that would employ the likes of this horrid little dweeb. It was bad enough when 24 started to go libtard but now its just so much tripe.
So wait a minute Skott…..
"sarah palin *does* represent the dummies of this country"
"most conservative republicans *do* stand against intellectualism, learning, and all factual data that runs counter to their bible-based bullsnot"
Those are "constructive" dialog? Insulting conservatives = "Constructive".
Making comments calling your remarks into question as Chitown made = "Divisive"?
Nothing like generalizing a whole segment of the population is there skott? Why don't I do that? Liberals are arrogant know-it-alls who they know better how you should live your life than you do. That work for you? You are painting with a broad brush just like janine is and that is more ignorant and arrogant than anything you can accuse conservatives of being.
I have to admit the same thing Funeral.. although I don't think I'd say "sexy'.. more like an "adorability" at one point… (Okay, now I'll probably need a disinfectant). there was a time when even her 'bitchiness" (Mystery Men) came across as a "cute" thing. But at some point it just seemed that she simply transferred her 'inner-bitch' to the screen (both movie and TV)
I saw an interview with Rajskub where she said she and Garofalo are really good friends and have been for a long time. Of course, in person Rajskub is as big a blithering idiot as Garofalo too. Why does anyone pay attention to what these Hollywood lightweights have to say? If somebody doesn't write their words down for them, they are about as intelligent and articulate as…Obama!
>>>i suppose it was terribly naive of me to assume i could engage in some sort of meaningful or even remotely constructive dialog here.<<<
Well, yeah, if you start the conversation by saying that Sarah Palin really does represent a bunch of dummies, that conservative Republicans as a rule are anti-intellectual and that we're all a bunch of reptiles, then yeah, it's going to be a little tough for you to "engage in some sort of meaningful or even remotely constructive dialog here."
It'd be like me wandering onto the Huffington Post in order to "engage in some sort of meaningful or even remotely constructive dialog here" and starting out by saying that liberal Democrats as a rule all loathe the United States, want it destroyed, want everyone who works for a corporation (other than Starbucks or the media companies) to be rounded up and shipped into concentration camps in Alaska, and want the surviving Americans to be ruled either by China, Russia, or the Muslim ummah. I can't imagine it would be too long afterward that I'd be banned from the site.
She's got only one expression on this show; it's pretty much the one pictured in the article. I told my husband last week that I hope her character gets killed off, because as annoying as I found Chloe to be in the first couple of seasons, Janeane's is far, far more grating.
I find it sad that liberals ignore all evidence showing conservatives to be a group of people who are overall happier, well-adjusted and more well-informed than liberals. And liberals also insist they are the more tolerant group, but constantly spew hate-speech or condescension at non-liberals.
I for one enjoy the fact that Garafolo's character is a dumpy, insecure, neurotic power grabber. Perfect fit.
Bilwick, I think you are on to something here, but you left out the "liberal guilt". It seems all the rich libs know they don't deserve it as good as they have it, so the project their guilt on the rest of us, using the government to redistribute everyone else's wealth and make them think they are helping the less fortunate (or lazy) part of the population. Then they don't have to pay their taxes, so it doesn't matter what the tax rate is.
As far as JG, she is a horrible, un-believable actress, I want to throw something at the TV every time she does her little pout.
I agree Mark. I'd like to know why the enlightened and intellectual Skott thinks I'm a "dummy". I'd like to know why he feels it's acceptable to malign my Christian faith and display his prejudiced, tired view of me as a Neanderthal (yes, we do believe man evolved from primordial life, and we DO respect God and Jesus' teachings as well!)
I am SO tired of liberals hiding behind their little screen names, throwing bombs and running off.
Skott, did you know Obama won his first two elections by getting his opponents kicked off the ballot? Did you know Robert C Byrd was a Klansman? Did you know Republicans got completely shut out of negotiations over this "Stimulus BIll"? Do you really know anything at all? NO, you don't. You know only what your handlers tell you.
That's hysterical. I was just telling my wife the other day that to be a Liberal is to be sick mentally. I was JUST saying that! Yet, this sick sack of repulsion is saying that about us! Talk about bizzaro world! Look, you can't be realistic or pragmatic or level-headed and ethical and be a Liberal. THAT is neuroscience, baby. Oh and I look around my family, which is mostly Republican, and I see nothing but well-adjusted, open-minded and pluralistic people. And most importantly: they're ALL enlightened. Why? Because they see the world for what it is. Whereas Liberals don't. In fact, every problematic member of my family? You guessed it? A Liberal. The fact is, they don't see us as those things because we see the world differently (correctly) than them.
If I was gsw I'd have to change my screen name before coming back here. Nice job, Spiro!
What a "Stone MAGGOTT" this woman is". Was this an attempt by the producer to get some HATE going or what?
I did that in another thread Dan. Time won't heal this offense. The remorse I feel in incalculable. I'm just a goofbag witha twist of irony
Meaningful and constructive dialog?…. Boy, are you a narcissistic asshole! Aren't you saying that Conservatives are just a bunch of Cavemen and Retards? Apparently (in your eyes) this is true, so it must qualify as meaningful and constructive dialog.
So, I guess being a Messiah Worshippping Neo-Nazi God-Hating Feminist Atheist Baby-Killing Liberal Lying Beyatch who idolizes Pelosi and Reid must be a Democrat, eh ?
I will not watch this episode of 24, like the Republican Elephant I have a long memory.
Man this thing is repulsive with all those tattoos scattered over her body. Don't get me wrong I don't mind a woman with tats but they need to have some art form to them. Now if the libs saw a conservative woman who looked the way this double bagger looks she would be labled un-educated republican white trash. She's another un-funny comedian who thinks they're an actor and some sort of political scholar. Same as fat Jack Black, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Dan Akroid and countless others. Every movie they make they play the same old tired part. At least dolts like Pitt, Clooney, Hanks and DiCaprio can act and be convincing as a lawyer, doctor or some other role that requires at least a minimum amout of inteligence. I give Fey's 30 Rock 1 more season before people see that it sucks. And her side kick from SNL, I'll give her new show 5 episodes before it's canned. The reason Seinfeild was such a hit is because he didn't inject political BS into it and he was smart enough to keep his mouth shut about politics when he was in public.
When JG turned up on “24” I groaned with head in hands… eh gad… What’s this leftist ding-a-ling doing on this show. I almost decided not to watch as a conservative. Then my homophob, xenophob, jingoist, gun owning, red state tendencies kicked in, and I thought to myself, “Jack’s gonna, torture the nasty little so and so, California transplanted, un-American twit! Do it Jack! Do it!!! I then regained my repose concerned about my ugly thoughts, and decided WTF! This isn’t the Cinema and I’m not paying $10.00 so I’ll give it a chance. Then last evening I was sitting in my favorite chair and, lo and behold, JG started slinking around the FBI headquarters (completely believable role for JG by the way), and those horrible feelings reemerged, “Catch her, catch her!!!” Chloe’s gonna snatch JG by the scruff of her hair, and drag her to the roof where her and Jack can dangle her from the roof, and make her talk. Then to my disappointment it was apparent it was her side kick white male colleague of coarse, but there’s still "hope" there are several hours to go, and it’s possible Jack could make a mistake?
One of my favorite bloggers is a fellow by the name of John Ray, an Australian Psychologist and Psychometrician who has, as his field of expertise, the study of intelligence and the heredity of personality characteristics. In this essay he looks at the motivations that drive leftists and the leftist philosophy in general. It's not a pretty picture.

Wow. Claiming your opponents think the way they do is because they are biologically inferior? The very definition of fascism.
We're watching "24" in spite of Garafalo, who to us is a simply dreadful actress, but we're pretty sure this is by far the worst season of the show. The casting overall is dreadful, the plot and subplots ridiculous, and the writing is trite, silly and utterly uninspired. It would be fitting if the hateful bigot Garafalo were in the worst season of "24" ever. I wonder if it will survive after this – my bet is no.
This woman is deranged. She is twisted by a burning, ugly hatred that will end up destroying her. Those who publish her rants are true cynics, exploiting her madness for their own gain. This situation isn't funny, it is grave, and we should hope that Janeane Garofalo gets treatment for her mental illness.
Guys, way too much time has been given to Skott–that kind of non-thinking- bomb throwing-doesn't merit a response. His, and others like him, only purpose is to insult and hate.
I love the term, ugly little soul, for Grafalo; not only a perfect fit for her-but for others like her. I'm hoping we will continue to see her forced to work in reality rather than her own unrealistic idiotic ideas. Her character on 24 has already covered for her boss's torture of the guy in the hospital. I thought that was a great example of how easy it is to sit in an ivory tower and scream about not using torture as opposed to being in the trenches. Should be interesting what is done with her character. Almost stopped watching 24 when I discovered she was on it, but it's been kind of fun to see her character going against her lunatic ideology.
…And Academics. I and one of my brothers have been self employed (and successfully so) most of our lives and are strong Conservatives. Our other brother has been an Academic ie; Law Professor and Dean of Law at a fairly Major University and is a Socialist. Our very different life experience is the main variable. We live in a reality based environment. Academia is not. It's peculiar also that the Socialist's position seems to be purely Ideological as he live's his own life in a more conservative manner…..just sayin'…
Liberals are simply more brilliant, it's science, it's astrophysics and geology, right there, you can tell, because we frown more, and besides, we have a consensus, the scientists are proving with science using scientific things that liberals just must be more smarter because we wear glasses.
Skott – dude – you could not be more Wrong!! I love Sarah Palin and she Most Definitely represents my values, and my politics. I am a Mech Engrg with a Masters Degree in ME; I am an inventor with patents to prove it. I am a MENSA member…also Catholic, and passionate believer in Christ and His Word!! Pick your targets more carefully, buddy, and get your facts Before SHooting Off.
I can't watch Law and Order (or any of the permutations) anymore because the perp usually turns out to be a white Christian bigot, or a person that hates gays. If the perps in the real-life crime were Hispanic or Black, the TV Law and Order version will make sure they become white. The last straw was an episode where a woman wanted morning-after pills given to her OTC, presumably because she was raped, and the pharmacist wanted to ask her if she had a scrip. The woman got all violent and assaulted the pharmacist. When the L&O detectives showed up, Olivia's reponse to the pharmacist (who wanted, naturally, to press charges aginst the assailant) was ,"Don't press your luck." WTF?!?
This used to be a good show, but now it's been ruined by liberal agendas. Conservatives and Republicans get bashed routinely. I don't bother with garbage like this.
If Garofalo thinks Palin is a lesser segment of the country she should look in the mirror if there is a lesser respected part off the country it is hollywood , i think the big picture in 24 will be her demise you have to have something specail with the fans of 24 to survive and she does not have that.
"That's neuroscience" said the Adderall addict.
I forgot if it were not for 24 98% of the fans of 24 would not even know who she is , sutherland is a lib i think he probably felt sorry for here, she will make a few bucks to help with her retirement thanks to her god obama she will be working until she is 75 then and hope she does not get sick because at that age she will get know treatment you are expendable according to obama.
Check out Garafolo in a really lousy movie, "The Long Wet Hot American Summer"
In my opinion, 24 sort of got boring. I got kind of tired for waiting for something to happen. REDEMPTION was fun, but after a few episodes of sitting waiting for a Wow event to happen like in previous (subway scene in 6, Palmer and Michelle killed in 5, Jack saving Chloe in 5) it also lacks the slow-moving Wow that Season 1 had.
It just seems, boring.
To me, anyway. Others may disagree.
Live, on tape, from Hollywood…it's The Larry Sanders Show!
Maybe the FBI should take a look at this multi personality acting woman. She may not know who she really is. If she stay's portrayed in the positive love America personality while on the 24 set her true personality will be expertly masked making her an expert anti-American spy.
"………we love EVERYBODY*! * as long as they worship at the altar of drug-addicted radio hosts like we do! "
Oh good: Lipstick on a pig is here: the replacement for Skott.
Garafolo insulted Republicans precisely because we have dissenting opinions…Think about it.
You've missed one of the Left's most obvious psychological problems: projection.
While she's a RAT I really wish she was the RAT on this show so they'd KILL HER!
O well, what are you going to do!
You can always DREAM!
Skott, Wake up and move out of YOUR mindless oblivion!
Shes an angry little far left whackjob, pseudo-intellectual, lesbian C*NT. Its ironic that she was unemployed and had to take a job on a "right wing" show. I remembe seeing her do standup (had to read from notes) and on SNL and have NEVER thought she was funny and I have a pretty darn good sense of humor. I hope the prodcuers kick her ugly washed up arse to the curb after these comments.
I think she's a horrible actress. She's not believable in this series at least. I don't believe the bureau would hire people with emotional problems. Too unstable for this type of work. Thank goodness this is only Hollywood. So far she's the most annoying character. I hope they kill her off so I can enjoy this show again. … and on her other comments, "Stupid is, as stupid does"
Holy Cow…I thought I was a conservative Republican because I believe in a small centralized government, strong national defense, and judicial restraint.
OK, I do revel in my anti-intellectualism and cruelty, but that's just a recreational outlet. I don't politicize it…
Don't you people have anything better to do than talk about this worm ?
I can't get past Janeane's mouth. Has she gone a little overboard with the botox injections lately? Like most actors, I wish she would just act and leave the politics for the politicians.

I'm a libertarian–not a faux libertarian like Bill Maher, but the genuine article–so I suppose by Garafalo standards, I'm suspect of even greater cruelty than a conservative. And I do have a cruel streak. If "liberals" start arguments with me, I like to whip out a paperback edition of Aristotle's LOGiC and hold it up to them. They react like Dracula when Van Helsing whips out the crucifix. Gasping, agony, choking, etc. Tickles my funnybone every time.
Nice way to smackdown the Lefty with cold hard facts, George_guy!
Skott's just a bomb-thrower. I wish he were here to get educated, but he just thinks he's at some sort of freak-show. And he doesn't think it's insensitive to laugh at "freaks" for some reason. (Probably because he's a Liberal!)
LOL!
It's not that we ignore evidence showing conservatives to be happier, more well-adjusted and better informed than liberals. It's just that after we read about this evidence, we come here and see conservatives working themselves into a frenzy, calling an actress "an angry little far left whackjob, pseudo-intellectual, lesbian C*NT" because she happens to hold different political views. And we file that evidence along with the Laffer curve and all sorts of other Republican shibboleths.
We have a winner!
The definition of diversity on the left:
People of all ethnicities and genders… having the same opinion.
I'll pass…
And who represents the "intellectuals" who can't find the Shift key? Who speaks for them?
Really? Pray tell, what is leading people here to call her that? It's in quotes attributed to her in the article above. Are you perhaps choosing to ignore the reason why she is being called these things?
There is never anyone more dishonest than a liberal and you, WR1, prove that point once again.
Talk about an intolerant bigot, skott. You take the cake, bub.
Hey Garafalo: "The reason the relationship exists between being a Republican and more positive mental health is unknown, and one cannot say whether something about being a Republican causes a person to be more mentally healthy or whether something about being mentally healthy causes a person to choose to become a Republican." Gallup study* You live in fear, honey, lemme know when you hit bottom. I can fix you. heh heh heh Promise.
Libs aren't dishonest – they honestly think the 9/11 attack was a justified response to "insults" against Islam, and they honestly think that a conservative verbally attacking someone is never a justified response to actual insults against Republicans. They are honestly nuts.
bs'd
Yes, it was naive of you. However, that being said, it is more that we just don't want you here. Imagine if we came to an NPR party and pushed our way in and tried to discuss life from our point of view. This is our party, as it were, and frankly we don't want to discuss, argue (I will not cheapen the word debate because most liberals are just too unskilled to understand the meaning of that word.) or try and understand your POV.
I don't feel for you. I don't care what you think of our philosophy, our comments and us. You are no more a "regular person" than Tiny Tim was. You are a liberal. Go to one of your liberal cyber homes and quit invading our little areas of refuge. You trite, silly little man, go away. Don't you have an Obama worship service to attend?
it's the glasses, they make her think she is "intellectual",,,
Can't give one thin dime to "artists" that hate me. Tired of it. The least I could do is vote with my dollars.
Funeral Guy, I thought I was the only guy in the world who found her appealing in movies. I don't feel like a lonely oddball anymore. And I agree, she is sick and perturbed. It is a shame, but the same applies to the majority of Hollyweird hotties.
No you're not alone. I LOVED her in Mystery Men. This was before she started shooting her mouth off, politically. I haven't watched my DVD since she started in on her attacks, but I thought she was hilarious in that. I'd seen her standup routine from some years ago before she got all political, and thought she was somewhat humorous. Now, I see her on the screen and all I can think of is her political tirades.
