Obama: The Great Disappointer
by John T. SimpsonThere have to be millions of American liberals, gays and left wingers totally disappointed with President Barack Obama today. It would seem that he, like they, were the idealists running headlong into the brick wall of harsh realities, and will now be running headlong into each other.
Even the Mighty KOS can’t hold them at bay.
You won’t find any of that disaffection in the Vein Stream Media, of course. Just as you’ll find none over people eating tree bark in Kim Jong-Il’s PR machine, and for the same Dear Leader reasons. But the press can cheerlead President Obama all it wants. It is the political base that matters, the grassroots networks upon which all fundraising, canvassing and voting is dependent.
And unless I’m completely mistaken, the President’s grassroots political base is, and will be, experiencing a number of earth-shaking political tremors in the days, months and years to come. Pick an issue, any issue. Gitmo? Having trouble there. Military tribunals for detainees? Ran against them, supporting them now. You know. Kinder, gentler violations of international law.
The release of torture photos? Sure! Umm, wait a second. Habeas Corpus for Bagram detainees? Habeas this. Skyrocketing domestic NSA intercepts, beyond even the limits set by Congress? Who, us? How about the prosecution of Bush-era war criminals? That might be kinda dicey, since many now consider the President a war criminal for the same reasons as Bush.
How about gay rights? Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, which candidate Obama ran against? Don’t ask Daneil Choi! Support for gay marriage and same-sex rights issues? Still in the closet, with Daniel Choi. What did gays expect? Why do gays consider Obama a gay rights hero, when his policies on gay marriage and DADT are no different from President Bush’s or Clinton’s? When has Obama ever given his unqualified support to gay issues? Prop 8? Don’t think so.
Obama could overturn DADT tomorrow with an executive order. Why doesn’t he? He promised to.
Tax hikes? How about Whoopi Mania? I’m sure more than a few Democrats attended the Tea Parties as well. They don’t all have trust funds or big Hollywood salaries, you know. But Whoopi Goldberg does, and even she’s hollering to the skies about it.
So those are the details, and it’s only going to get worse. But that’s what happens when idealism runs into reality. What if President Obama can’t close Gitmo by next January? What happens when military tribunals are cranked up again for Gitmo detainees? Or if the President uses executive privilege to prevent the release of torture photos? Do the jumpsuited protesters start chaining themselves to the White House fence again? Will Obama become the new American Hitler?
Will gays start protesting as President Obama totally ignores the issues that concern them most, as he has to date? Will the President even move to act on stopping the Holocaust of gays in Iraq, yet another issue that is beginning to inflame American gays, considering it is happening on our dime and watch? If we broke Iraq and it is ours to fix, as Gen. Colin Powell stated, what of this major breakage, which Newsweek called “Don’t Ask, Do Kill”?
Can’t blame all this stuff on Bush now. He’s watching Ranger games in Texas. And waiting to be called up for those long-awaited war crimes trials, though I wouldn’t recommend that the former President give up his season tickets just yet.
I. for one, am certainly not disappointed. In fact, I’m elated! But I’m not a liberal Democrat, either.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Though I am elated at the political predicaments our new President finds himself in, I am very unhappy with the Gay Holocaust in Iraq, and wish it weren't an issue. It was in fact Team Oscar's trip to gay-butchering Iran, not a week after the gay-infomercial Oscars, that set me on a tear and led me here to BH. No joy in that situation whatsoever. To be clear.
It’s a good and bad thing that Barry’s flailing about? He can do some real damage to this country in three years and seven months time.
Obama doesn't disappoint me. He's exceeded my expectations. He will go down as the worst president in history. He may even inspire a new civil war.
His arrogance and hubris knows no bounds. He makes that Jon Peter's book proposal look modest.
Every single day he does something bad for the country. It's mind boggling that the public doesn't see what's going on, he still has a 60% approval rating. But as unemployment continues to grow and problems get worse and worse, we'll see how long that lasts. Rhetoric and good looks can only get you so far.
We knew this would be a "cricling the drain" POTUS and here we are…I told a friend McCain was a huge mistake for the GOP and our only hope was BO ruined it as fast as possible so we could rebuild for 2012. Here we are, 4 months in. edited to add: and do my fellow NY'ers really need terrorists and pirates on trial here? Hasn't the city suffered enough?
try 4 months lol
Obama is exactly what I expected. It's just taking him less time to ruin the country than I predicted. Today he tells us we are out of money. Gee…. that's a real surprise. Wonder whose fault that is?? This dufus will do anything to make us dependent upon the government, the ultimate goal of any anti-American.
I stood outside of a Biden event with a sign that had the word "Marxist" on it. All the obedient Obamaites looked at me like I had three heads. Liberals are so far up the crack of socialism they don't recognize it even when living in the thick of it. Nor do they even think socialism/marxism is a bad thing.
Yes, before his 4-yr term is up, Obama will be outed for what he truly is: a clueless, dangerous, elitist, anti-American fraud and the worst president in history. He has no clue about econimics except what he learns from his seditious reading.
If dissent is patriotic, then I'm one of the most passionate Americans in this country.
His base isn't going anywhere. For every feint or dodge or delay on one issue, he'll go further and deeper left on another more important one, using the media to cover or drumbeat for him, whichever the case may be.
Wrong, Vince. Difference is, I am not directing vitriol at Obama or the Left. I am enjoying the tangled web they are all being caught in now. Pelosi too! It's a massive train wreck of politics, naive idealism and harsh reality. Steven King said people liked stuff like that, really. Like horror movies. Is it okay if I do? They've certainly done it to us enough
I'm elated that President Obama is continuing the policies concerning the WoT that were instituted by the Bush Administration.
Yeah, we'll point out that he's being two-faced about it, because he is, but he gets nothing but applause from me for doing the right thing on this front.
That's the kind of hypocrisy I can get behind.
Big difference, if, you follow principles. Failure in Iraq, all Americans and America herself fail. Obama's failures mean, Conservatives and Americans win, except for the far left and thier agenda.
Generally speaking on the VSM, Vince. Were you around April 15th? Anyway, maybe Maddow was having a moment of clarity. What's up anyway, guy? You REALLY seem to not like this article! Fact is, I'm on the same page with what Obama is doing with the detainees, military tribunals, and yes, even EIT, which he has reserved. No complaints
It's going to be this easy…watch for the first crack in the proverbial dyke (wink, wink, no pun intended). Some courageous young reporter with nothing to lose, i.e. he hasn't become comfortable in and with Washington D.C. or New York, but has some small credentials will start filing negative stories about the "Messiah". Not blockbuster Watergate stuff, just picky, snarky stuff. I think the guy might be the ABC reporter that has been harping on lack of access and the new "White House News" internal news/propaganda machine. He or she is out there, he will have to show courage because the Obama Hate Machine is from the Chicago school of hardball politics.
As more of his base winds up feeding the pidgeons in the park instead of working, well they WILL start to get disillusioned…the Obama gameplan is obvious, keep blaming Bush.
I'm with ya, Mike. But we're not left wing LibDems. Checked the comments lately at KOS? HuffPo? But to be clear, Obama is a Right Hypocrite, Pelosi is a Wrong Hypocrite. I say wrong because they're both Left. And she could noy be more wrong. I wish we had a real press. They'd bury her, instead of lining up for tea and finger cookies.
Oh man nice article. It is on the mark about how pavolvian the left is these days.
Obama, "Worst President Ever"…that has a nice ring to it…just when I thought Jimmy F—ing Carter retired the trophy for "Worst President Ever" along comes this neo-socialist to snatch it away. I pray he causes less damage than Carter did.
You can only get away with saying the Emperor Is clothed thing for so long, Raven. Even the VSM. Think of the contingents of KOS tinfoil lefties and radical Prop 8 gays who will not stay patient forever. It isn't in their character, and they are formidable legions. They may not go GOP, but they may start looking elsewhere in 2012.
No question he’s already screwed up enough for two terms, yuk.
Do not misunderestimate the power of the dark side. The Vain Stream Media will do all it can to protect their creation, and the majority of the voting electorate still get their 'news' from them.
No one can hold the title forever.
http://shermansmarch.blogspot.com
Vince, Obama is THE Prseident. I respect the office, not the man. I'm rooting he steers OUR ship towards (continuing) safety and prosperity. But that's not the way to bet.
http://shermansmarch.blogspot.com
His personal approval rating is at 60% about where Jimmy Carter was at the same time. People are against his policies at an average of 60% latest Rasmussen Poll.
Holy ESPers, James. You should read some of the usenet poltical groups. A lot of the left loons there actually think that Obama will buck the historical trend of the party in the white house losing seats in the house and senate. Some actaully believe Obama will give them at least a 80/20 split for democrats in the house and that every republican will lose running in the senate in 2010.
He can be arrogant, he's got his loyal OBAMA-MANIACS ready to cheer him on. To 2012 and beyond.
Witness the birth of the new american king. Barry the first.
In other words, THANKS MODERATES FOR NOMINATING MCCAIN!
No, it means you lose, I lose if he over taxes, gives us U Health Care, coddles our enemies, puts water boarding off limits, Nationalizes the Auto industry and Financial sectors, limits 1st and 2nd amendment rights, need I go on? I see his failure to achieve his agenda as a win for me and America. Now we can disagree agenda but, not failure.
And the libs are screaming that we have to go further left than McCain to win.
When your enemy (and let's face it, the liberals are our enemy) gives you unwarrented advice, they aren't trying to help you.
You forgot “cap-n-trade,” that’s a tax on anybody with a pulse, and a damn big one at that.
"Obama's failure does mean we all lose…" – Does it?
Look where we are heading right now -my children and probably my grand children and maybe even my great-grandchildren are already losing their future to the heavy taxes that he is heaping on their backs (while he mouths the words "fiscal responsibility") and losing their freedoms as he is rapidly takes away their rights by blatant violations of the very Constitution he is sworn to defend. If he fails, perhaps future generations won't have to suffer as much. If he fails, maybe my children will continue to live in freedom. I'd say we win if that is the case. Rejecting the socialist money pit is not losing. Failure would be good for America in this case. Ask Putin.
Obama'll just go down in history as one of those bumbling ineffective presidents that blip on the scene as a name in a sequence of names with no particular mention besides 'being the first black President'.
Yeah, advice from the MSM, no thanks, duh… Of coarse the dumb $hits at the RNC will see things differently, they are more enlightened, and are able to understand the nuances of government, and that is the problem all Washington politicians love government.
One has to feel at least a twinge of pathos for Jimmy Carter: The old coot has at last lived long enough to see a worse president than he.
Obama has taken the US auto industry away from its investors and given it to the very unions that ruined it, and he has saddled the US with a debt load that our great-great-grandchildren will be paying for, while simultaneously managing to break almost every one of his leftist pie-in-the-sky campaign pledges.
He inspires in conservatives an uncanny combination of horror and relief, and in leftists an uneasy combination of inspiration and outrage, alienating everybody to one extent or another in the process. Not a bad four months worth of work. In fact, so good a four months that it is virtually impossible for anybody at any point in the political spectrum to predict exactly where four years of this confounding lunacy will lead.
The only certainty is that Obama's legacy will be an infamous one; only the degree of infamy is in doubt now. Will there be another 09/11 on his watch? Will all of this economic voodoo lead to hyperinflation? Will there be a real, actual revolt by some or all of the states? If the answer to all of those questions ends up being, "yes," then the question won't be, is Obama the worst president ever? No, rather, the question will be, is Obama the last president ever?
I think these are called, "interesting times."
[...] John T. Simpson at BigHollywood. Possibly related posts: (automatically generated)Culture War, Cold or [...]
Don't forget how Clinton went too far to the left when he started out and then took the most devastating loss in US political history in 1994 but he recovered from that by moving more to the middle and was able to come back even after several corruptions about his administration were uncovered. The only thing is that America is overwhelmingly materialistic and if they see their prosperity continue to slip away year after year then tradition has it that any president in power will be doomed .
"Obama'll just go down in history as one of those bumbling ineffective presidents that blip on the scene as a name in a sequence of names with no particular mention besides 'being the first black President'. "
I hope you're right. "Ineffective," I can deal with.
If as many Americans were behind Obama as dems claim, you'd think he wouldn't have to flip flop on anything he campaigned for.
We'll see how long that lasts. He is really upsetting the netroots clowns. It's impossible to please everyone, but he is so full of himself I think he wil make a lot of major missteps thinking he is above reproach.
Leftists always whinge – it is a lifestyle choice.
"I pray he causes less damage than Carter did. "
Too late
He's tripled the debit in 4 months. And you're happy with that?
Oh, do you believe his crap that he has to spend the money to get us out of debt because that is the worst excuse I have ever heard in my life. You need to pay attention. He is doing everything wrong.
I was shocked to hear a black man on a talk radio say that regardless of how bad Obama performs as a president, no matter if the economy tanks, we are struck again by terrorists, and so forth, the black population will stand behind Obama. Blacks, he said, want "white people to feel what it's like to be hopeless and dejected". Now I know why Obama's poll numbers remain so high. Radical liberals and bitter blacks will stand by him no matter what.
more to the point, black "community leaders" with media access will do all they can to blame Obama's failures on his white and Jewish advisers. Even if it paints Obama as clueless and dependent on others…but isn't that the picture of Black America that the Sharptons, Cornell Wests, Ray Nagins, etc. always depict for us, the mighty whiteys?
GWB makes a gaffe, and receives the Media scorn
But, when BO's bewildered, politeness is the norm
No matter if he's nonplussed, when his teleprompter’s broken
Media simply "oohs" and "aahs", he's the White House Token
From everything I've seen and read lately you need to hope that the rebuild and rengeneration of the republicans into a real conservative values party had better take place by 2010. If Obama can rely on even a reduced congress for a extra two years then that long-term damage he can cause will be truly breathtaking in scope. And some of it may be damage that can't be reversed.
I'm rooting for the former too. But I'm smart enough not to hold my breath while I'm waiting. The right direction is to the right. He's heading toward the shoals on the left.
He won't keep that 60% much longer, they can only keep "randomly polling" Chicago and DC for so long.
I fear that the "first black President" has set back acceptance fifty years, it'll be awhile before another "person of color" has a good shot at nomination. There'll be calls to "be sure this one is ready," assorted anti-bias organizations will carefully screen them and debate whether "those other people" will be a better choice for their goals. Heck, there'll be black groups debating if they're black enough. I was surprised when he wasn't loudly denounced for reinforcing stereotypes with his Bill Clinton "dancing abilities" crack. Anyone who's followed Dancing with the Stars know that one ain't true.
Times change. He ran as an anti-Bush choice, next time he'll have to be a successful President. Make the call what his following Bush's lead on national security says about his real estimation of "the mess inherited from the previous administration."
Such a person may well file the stories. But will his superior(s) allow such stories to run?
There are still those out there who say Obama was elected in a "landslide". If you look ONLY at the Electoral College, then it was indeed a landslide. But Obama only won the popular vote by seven million.
Oh wait – unlike when Bush was elected, the popular vote doesn't matter. Never mind.
Again, note my comment above – Obama won the popular vote by only seven million. That's a LOT of people who didn't vote for him. You can't tell me that almost half of the voting population is made up entirely of bitter old white men, can you?
On everything but the economy, he's finding out he can't go very far left without meeting serious opposition, often from his own party. On the economy, well, even the Europeans seem to accept what's keeping them afloat is America is not like them. We'll soon see just how stupid Barry is by how often he rams his head into the brick wall the world markets have thrown up.
As a person of full-range solar-influenced variable skin tone, I'm having ever-growing hope for 2010 and happiness at seeing my belief in conservative principles confirmed and vindicated. He's not talking about me.
Right on. I'm sure there's no one as disappointed as King Barack I. A natural born salesman, he got elected on pretty words, no resume, and big promises. He played the left like a cheap violin, stroking those strings of Hope and Change. Unfortunately for him, the world won't cooperate. His claim of leadership based on "I won." just isn't cutting it. His speech at Notre Dame was the same old same ole. The Naval Academy, same old stuff, selling his unworkable ideas dressed in pretty words. I wish him the best but as other posters have written, we're all on this boat together and I certainly hope Mr Obama isn't steering us toward those icebergs appearing on the horizon.
Pay attention to the words from the world markets and what his own people are quietly starting to say about the coming inflation etc. We've already hit the iceberg, his options now are to back off and try to save the ship or to shrug it off and keep going full steam ahead. If you want to keep supporting YOUR President, invest in some good SCUBA gear.
Actually Vince, Mr Obama told us he had a plan for everything. HE LIED. He had no plans. The masses fell for it…good for them, I hope they learn their lessons.
we dont have to wait 4 years to see what he is..over 48 million already knew.
I've seen Obama taunted as the "Messiah" several times in print. What is this all about??? Who has proclaimed him the Messiah???? Do they mean "Anti-Christ" or is this someone's way of being sarcastic??/
Obama has set race relations back at least 60 years and continues to do so daily.
I don't believe Liberal polling. Never have!
Tell BO he has no clothes.
Barry Numbnut is at the helm, and is wandering around the North Atlantic searching for icebergs. He glibly stated yesterday we are out of money, hmm… Barry thinks… I know we’ll spend more money, I’m gonna replicate the Weimar Republic, but we’ll do it right bhwa…hahaha… we’ll supply everyone with wheelbarrows. Folks this guy is a blithering idiot, elected because he can read a teleprompter, hell we should have elected the local weatherman we’d be better off.
Obama is a truly frightening figure. Everything he does seems to be designed to destroy the country.
He wants to appease the radical Islamists, punish achievement, confiscate capital, ruin the banks,
seize the car companies, and give handouts to those who refuse to work. As time goes on, working will
be nothing but a chore. Why work if all your money is going to be taken, and redistriubuted?
I cannot figure him out. He is, surely, incredibly naive. But he also seems to have a deep loathing for
those who made their lives better through work. He has had everything handed to him, but it is never enough.
He wants to punish those who did well, and reward those who are lazy, irresponsible, or destructive.
He keeps his own background hidden, and off limits, while his government begins to dig deeper and deeper
into the private lives of citizens.
I fear the future under this strange and childish man.
"But I’m not a liberal Democrat, either."
You sure coulda fooled me with your, uh, article.
I hate to be such a cynic, but I believe Barry spots an iceberg and charges headlong into it. This guy hates this country and is determined to set things straight, reparations by other means?
"Hey man even inspire a new civil war"
At least you'll have your tinfoil helmet to protect you!
I love the fact that earlier this month Obama straight-facedly proposed 'closing' 5000 failing schools (basically, to replace the teachers and administration, then re-open) and NO ONE in the MSM called him on how that would square with the unions! Even though it wouldn't work without also changing curricula, policies, and federal mandates, I hope he does it. Let's get the unions against him, too…
During the first Clinton campaign I observed that people can be made to believe bad news in relatively good times ("The worst economy in fifty years!") because they can be easily persuaded that while their personal circumstances may be okay, a lot of their fellow citizens' aren't. But the reverse doesn't work. The media cannot convince people that times are good, when so many have direct experience that they're not.
I don't think that obama is as popular as the press would have us believe. Remember the polls are generally linked to the LYING MSM. I personally know of two people who voted for obama because of all the hype and I can't tell you how disapointed and disgusted they are by all that he's done so far.
I honestly believe that obama doesn't care how bad he's doing or how bad he's going to do in the near future for America. I believe he's doing EXACTLY what he has planned for the US and congress is following like good little, love struck sheep.
While hopeful, John T. Simpson's article might be underestimating the deification of Barak Obama in the Great Religion of Liberal Lunacy. As I skim around and see different reactions from most of the left, there is very, very little blame placed upon "Great Leader" and the blame goes all around to anyone and everyone else, i.e; Congressmen frightened by voters in their district, Lobbies like NRA, and all the ignorant and unwashed in America's bigoted heartland.
I would love to see the idolatry heaped upon our President begin to abate a little. I'm not seeing it yet.
"I would love to see the idolatry heaped upon our President begin to abate a little. I'm not seeing it yet"
Either that or the MSM just isn't reporting on it.
You know Sarge I agree, I have a few (very few) lib friends that are suffering through a severe bout of "Buyers Remorse".
President Obama will give birth to many a spoiled, rotten egg as time goes by; he cannot lead as the Executive Office he inhabits. Likewise, he cannot delegate any responsibility given many of his cabinet posts remain vacant. The posts that are filled are held with corrupt Democrats with tax evasion issues or something worse. Worse, President Obama wants to dictate–not govern. As he previously, he wants to push a button & have a difficult task be done. In the real world & in America, this does not happen. Dictators can tell subordinates orders & those orders are done lest they be killed.
President Obama's meltdown is on the horizon.
Get out the popcorn…
President Obama is not comfortable with himself given the facade he projects is false; the same facade will eventually splinter & shatter. Once Obama's so-called popularity vanishes, Obama will be beside himself. This is when his true anger comes out, despite his vainglorious speeches.
Who would vote for him today? Gay? American Jews? Veterans? Gun owners? Car owners? Stock holders? Bond holders? Tax Protesters? Folks who remember 911? Opponents of the 2 wars? Patriots? Libertarians? Christians? I could go on.
I hope he is totally toast soon so that he has no political leverage.
You may be right. However, in my experience, money and fear change things quickly. As the economy continues to sink, it will take him with it.
Perhaps if he were really black,.
Funny, I don't care what color he is, he could be purple.
He is however, just aweful.
This blog is as ignorant as they get. How is Obama the great disappointer? During his presidential campaign, he repeatedly stated that he believes marriage is between a man and a woman. So how in god's hell is Obama disappointing them? He didn't promise to change any laws to appease mentally sick homosexuals. Yes, real gays in America have genetic dispositions and most are mentally deranged (especially when they think they can bully the people's vote through the courts). Obama still has his Muslim sensibilities, and Islam has no tolerance for homosexuality. And if the gays in America don't stop attacking and victimizing Americans, the country will start to turn against them.
Look, I'm not surprised such idiot blogging comes from Breitbart- Having the most incompetent, and no nothing bloggers. Like that Romano guy, or Johnny Rome…whatever the freak barfly wants to call himself… Anyway, I think it's time we applauded Obama for not disappointing us. He has backed up all his promises so far. He promised to destroy wall street and he is. His Senate record represented exactly who he is, and he's living up to it. Closing Gitmo was on his platform since his early days of his campaign. Why is everyone so surprised? Because Obama actually keeps his promises? Or maybe it's those promises that shocks people so much– The same exact promises he repeated over and over as people were fainting over his brilliance and god-like appearance.
I commend Obama. And I praise him for being so true to his word, and showing America how really dumb it is. Thanks Obama.
And next will come the mark. The economy has been ruined, both by the destruction of the most important commodity of free trade, automobiles, and banking commerce. Withtthis destruction of the two most important structures will be the government take over of the entire free trade system. Then the entire country tax system will fall upon the mark created to keep us under control. Mark the word.
To paraphrase Ronald Reagan:
Are you better off now than you were four months ago?
When are we going to wake up and demand impeachment of this muslim. Thats change I can believe in.
If America is to face reality and demand the Foreign policy bumbling and out-of-control spending stop, 60% of the voters need to wake up to realizing Obama-is-as-Obama-does and stop thinking Obama-is-as-Obama-says. Will this be possible? I hope so soon but I don't think so…. There are just to many with a gimme agenda right now and they will have to be negatively affected personally to the extreme.
[...] T. Simpson of Big Hollywood writes a story, which explains how millions of American liberals, gays and left wingers are starting to get fed up with Ob…. How is this so? His approval ratings are still hovering around 60% you ask? Left wing loon sites [...]
He may be upsetting his base but they are not going to abandon him and vote for a Republican. OTOH the base didn't elect him – it was "moderates".
The UAW would vote for him
2010 will definitely be interesting.
It's called POV, Apollo. Like from Starship Troopers. In order to understand the bug, we must think like the bug. Get it?
I read the article saying we're out of money. It's true, but he's using this as a push for his health care plan. He keeps saying it over and over like THAT was the cause of our crises, as opposed to the banking crisis and the run on the banks that occurred last year. Also, he could stop the over-borrowing right now if he stopped Stimulus Package #2, considering only 6-8% have been spent and already the economy shows signs of bottoming out and slowly (very slowly!) pulling itself form the brink. Stop the pork-barrel spending and that would be a big help. Politically difficult, perhaps, by possible.
Obama has a 60% approval rating like he won by 17 points.
I guess radical Islamists aren't the only ones who hate gays, huh, Joe? Genetic dispositions? Mentally deranged? You sound like Fred Phelps! And we're the idiots?
It’s classic sales, “don’t worry about the no money thing, health care will take care of that, …so how many can I put you down for?” I read his interview on C-Span, and you think to yourself, “do people buy this bull$hit?” The answer sadly is, yes!
Where's the birth certificate ?
FYI Frank Rich of the NY Times (of all people) has an OpEd in today's fishwrap making the very same complaints about Obama's and the LibDems' abandonment of gay rights issues. When Rich attacks libs, you know it's bad.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/24/opinion/24rich….
I don't think you're a cynic. At least the Titanic had lifeboats. I keep praying for a mid-course reality check and correction.
The only hope for America without too much damage is that Obama's growing unpopularity with liberals not only approaches, but exceeds the contempt they soon felt for Lyndon Johnson in the sixties. And that the 2012 Democratic Convention makes the '68 Democratic Convention look like a peace and love fest.
And no, it wasn't just the Vietnam War that turned them against him or that he wasn't Kennedy- it was that he gave them the "GREAT SOCIETY" and thought would satisfy them- the thing with liberals and social agendas though, is that they are never satisfied unless you give them a total collapse of society and the death of millions- which is exactly what happens anywhere in the world when they do get what they want- as history shows.
jbjm, there are a great many indivudals of color who would disagree with that. Rather vociferously, I might add.
HA HA HA…HILLARIOUS FOR THE OBAMA LOONS……EIGHT MORE YEARS OF BUSH POLICIES…..THIS IS THE "CHANGE" YOU GET…..OBAMA "CHANGED" HIS MIND AND FLIP FLOPPED ON ALL HE PROMISED YOU SHEEP….SO NOW…..MORE OF THE BUSH…THIS ONE WITH A DEEP SUN TAN…….HA HA HA YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE!!!
simple, succinct and 100% correct.
word!
Yeah, this is where he is gong to start polling poorly, very soon. The left won't go apoplectic, but they will go ambivalent. The far right is already locked and loaded so, no change there. He is going to lose the moderate support that got him elected and then he is done. His personal popularity won't save him. Maybe he can enlist? I know he has closeted fantasy of himself in the military. The Obamapromter, cleaning pots and pans at MCRD San Diego! That's change I can believe in!!
hussein makes jiminycarter look like a genius.
Obama changes a few words, but essentially keeps Bush's policies. The liberals are going to be very upset with him. President Obama has no policies himself.
Delusions won't protect you.
Not quite. He may be our president, but he isn't America. He's just one man in it, albeit one with the most authority and power at the moment. He is representing just one branch of our government. Without the consent of Congress and the people he is supposed to be SERVING he can fail bigtime and we can still all do quite well. If we can wrestle Congress out of the grasp of spendthrifts we can breathe easier because he'll fail at ever turn. (Now, where we're going to find Congressional candidates that aren't also candidates for Village Idiot, I'm not sure, but that's another topic)
As it is, the future of my children and probably my grandchildren will be gutted by the high taxes this man is burdening them with in his overreaching and out-of-control spending policies – this man who has the gall to cry for 'fiscal discipline'- and the Constitutional freedoms this man's plans will take away from them even as he stand in front of it to bluster, blame and grandstand.
His failure is my children's gain.
What, you're happy that the president is failing? YOU BUNCH OF RACISTS! Oh, wait, the Dems insist that Bush 43 is the worst ever and EVRYTHING he did failed, and were elated. What's good for the goose,eh?
I agree. I didn't think I'd see the worst President award issued more than once in my lifetime. I have come to learn now that I can always depend on the Dems and the MSM.
Unfortunately a president can't be impeached unless he's done something unlawful. Now as for booting him out of office, I'd like to see that.
I have a feeling that in a relative instant, the left will turn on Obama. When and why this will happen I don't know, but I am sure it will happen! He is a pathological narcissist, and will eventually dig a hole for himself as he cannot see the world as we see it. That is when his popularity will crash almost overnight. The sooner the better!
Democrats are probably wishing they had Hillary instead. As time goes on, they will regret electing this stupid socialist.
Don't forget, he also promised to re-work NAFTA, and he hasn't, at least yet…seems the only jobs he is protecting, are union jobs.
This statement depends on who is doing the survey. All I hear is negative except in the media and inner city, The main-stream thinking Americans would give him a 15% approval rating for his first four months.
For a narcissist, that is very dangerous.
People do by this BS because it is something they are being promised for FREE! I wish someone would explain to me how it saves money to have my health records accessible to a Dr. in Calif.? The only ones that need to know about my health is my doctor. If I go to a specialist, they fax my info.
This big money saving BS. This is so that the gov. has access to all of our private health matters, that is it. Once they have that, they will go through the records to find out what treatments are cost effective. From there they will start tightening the screws and deciding what will be covered under their system.
Obama is NOT American, and I am not talking about the birth certificate either. Think of what he has ADMITTED regarding his life, look at who he has allowed into his life.
A young mother who married a Kenyan, who was a radical one at that. She herself an atheist and in my humble opinion conducted her life as one big act of rebellion against this country. She then marries another Muslim and takes her son out of the country for his formative years. Sorry, but I do not believe while she was in Indonesia she was waking up every morning teaching Obama the Constituiton, what a joke. She immersed her son in the muslim culture, which is counter to what the American culture is.
By his teens he is back with Grandma and Grandpa, which are as strange as can be as well. Sorry but I am in the same age group as Obama, I can promise you my grandfather was not hanging on the front porch smoking pot with a known communist pedophile!
Once he is on his own he STILL seeks out radicals. He sits in a church for 20 freaking years with Rev. Wright!!!
The press forgave this man of everything!!! He is NOT AMERICAN, AND I DON'T CARE IF HE WERE BORN ON THE CAPITOL STEPS! HE DOES NOT HOLD ANY AMERICAN IDEALS SACRED! HIS ENTIRE LIFE PROVES IT!
You are so right. I have been many places, from the grocery store to the baseball fields and the doctors office and the people are mad as hell!
Maybe unless of course this are no cars being built here in the USA in say, three years.
It is possible given that BO has never run a car company, or anything for that matter.
Joe, man, please take your medication.
Actually, all you need to win an election against BO is to have American Jewish voters shift.
That is very likely as things now stand
Man, apparently anyone can write for the NY Times. Rich is pathetic.
Yes, he will not find an answer here as he fears a trade war. Tough being in a box, no?
Actually, John, the American Psychological Association now skeptical of the "gay gene" theory. Read this excerpt:
"There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that
an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay or lesbian
orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic,
hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual
orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to
conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular
factor or factors. Many think that nature and nurture both play
complex roles…."

Morover, last June, homosexual activist Peter Tatchell expressed his doubts about sexual preference being genetic in his column "Homosexuality: It isn't natural":

And here is a related video about Tatchell's column:

Hence, joethefilmmaker's skepticism is justified. Like man-made global warming, homosexuality being a genetic trait like skin color is not supported by hard scientific evidence.
Indeed!
A quote by: P.J. O’Roark, “You think health care is expensive now wait until it’s free.” Nothing is free, and this is so hard to grasp by so many, it’s alarming. By the way hello fellow Georgian.
One more thing, John. I think Obama is wary of pushing the homosexual agenda because of his most loyal supporters: Black people.
Black people supported Obama partly because he seemed to defy the racist Hollywood stereotype that it's "abnormal" for a Black man to love and marry his kids' mother. So, Obama intentionally maintained this myth that he was a pro-family Black man who was more Bill Cosby than rapper 50 Cent.
Naturally, in front of Black audiences, he often kept the pro-homosexual rhetoric to himself. It's political suicide for a Black politician to be pro-homosexual since Black voters generally view homosexuality as an unhealthy lifestyle choice not a genetic trait. Hence, if given a chance, Black voters support real marriage (one man and one woman) instead of other combinations. Conservative columnist Tara Wall explains in further detail here:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/nov/18/a...
Now, Obama is stuck. If he does nothing, he continues to enrage homosexual activists. But if he supports redefining marriage, he enrages the MUCH bigger block of Black voters he'll need to get re-elected.
This is why a politician should never try to please everyone since you tick off everybody.
Count me as one of them.
As a Black man, I do believe that someone who looks like me could be a great president. However, Obama is simply too pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pro-weak national defense, and pro-socialist to be that president.
Hence, I didn't vote for Obama, which got me into some trouble with Black relatives, friends, and co-workers. The guys in my old barbershop don't want to talk to me.
Still, I feel more vindicated with my decision with every passing day. I'm also reminded of the words of Dr. King who wished for the day when people would be judge by character and not skin color.
After four years of Obama, I think a lot of Black voters will wish they had taken King more seriously.
Flyboy, I hope you're right. However, the LSM is every bit as narcissistic as the WON. The vast majority of demonrats are narcissists. ONLY if he goesagainst them in a big way, and they don't see it as a lie to deceive the moderates (e.g. his public stance on late term abortion vs his votes on abortion) and keep them ignorqnt and in line. Don't misunderestimate the Head Narcissist In Chief.
The dems will not turn on him, they bet the farm on Obama, without him who do they have? If you are a democrat it does not matter what you do, they rally. Morals, promises, doing the right thing means nothing to them.
I'm in agreement with you, Fred2. Most of my family seem to relish finally having one of "us" as President, they don't take a critical look at his policies or actions. I just hope you assertion of how views may change in 4-years becomes reality.
Carter On Crack
He is viewed as the new Messiah and he can do no wrong in their eyes. If the MSM dumps on him, they dump on themselves, for not investigating him which is their job.
Or this, a person has 50k of credit card debt and is close to filling bankruptcy. Does the person charge an additional 50k on the credit cards to get out of debt?
