That's a little harsh, buddy. I'm sure professional athletes make snarky comments about the fans, too. I don't wanna move in with Broadway actors--I just want them to sing and dance pretty for me. As long as they do that, we're cool.

I leave my right-wing politics on the sidewalk before I enter any B'way, off-Bway, or way-off theatre. I can forget Vanessa Redgrave's odious pro-PLO politics as long as I'm watching her spin magic on the stage such as she was a few years ago in the "Journey's End."

After almost seeing almost 200 shows in NYC, I still get excited when the lights go down and the cheesy "no cell phones in the theatre" recording plays. There is nothing like live theatre.

I love your passion for theatre.

I REALLY enjoyed this, on a Monday afternoon. Thanks! I needed to be transported for a moment. I worry that people will stop appreciating professional live theater and dance. This is a reminder that the culture and glamor of theater-going is not dead. I love the backstage musicals of the 1930s, they encapsulate the American Dream. Small town guy or girl hits the big city with a pair of tap shoes and desire to be the best. They struggle against the odds for that one big break. And if it doesn't happen for them, there's always romance. No need to parse politics, the Broadway mythology is about as patriotic as you can get!

What's this piece doing on Big Hollywood?? Where's the bitter condemnation of the left's pernicious control of the Great White Way?? This piece has no political axe to grind--how'd you slip it in?? Good thing it's beautifully written--good job. I just got back from New York and saw "Hair." Loved it. There is nothing like that perfect moment when the lights go down and the music comes up. Spent the theater budget on the show and immediately wish I could've gone into hock and seen at least four more shows.

Nice Broadway fantasy however you do know that those stuck inside the myopic and provincial Black Box find it a dressing room hobby to mock, ridicule, trash, humiliate those who sit in the audience.

Sure, they'll put on a shiny happy face for you but that is because they just want your money (they even openly admitted it during the 2004 election...remember that?) and at $100 per ticket Broadway is living high the hogs.

Last April I met one 'Broadway star' who came to NYC Tea Party however she had to hide herself in paranoid fear of being exposed as a 'right-winger'. What a coward is she hiding like that.

But back to the Broadway audience; you are like the beaten woman who comes back for more beatings and Broadway know this.

So keep showing up to get your on-stage Shiny Happy and Broadway will continue their own off-stage Shiny Happy ridiculing and mocking the beaten who pay $100 bucks a ticket to get into the show.

One thing is certain, if Broadway is making the money then I sure at sh*t will NOT be paying for your free health care1
