Teleprompter Gaffe: President Obama Thanks Himself — UPDATE: Where’s the Video?

I’ve been searching for the video of Obama accidentally reading Irish PM Brian Cowen’s speech yesterday. He even thanks himself at the end! Apparently his teleprompter went loopy.
If this were GWB, the video would be everywhere, yet I can’t find a clip on the Internet of a public press conference that took place yesterday. It will come out, but this is amazing.
Thank Sky News for doing its job:
Mr Cowen stopped, turned to the president and said: “That’s your speech.”
A laughing Mr Obama returned to the podium to take over but it seems the script had finally been switched and the US president ended up thanking himself for inviting everyone to the party.
Mr Obama is an accomplished orator but is becoming known in America as the “teleprompt president” over his reliance on the machine when he gives a speech.
Be afraid everyone, be very afraid.
Update: 10:30 am PST: Still no video released. This is the third Obama gaffe with no video. First the wrong door incident at the White House, then the helicopter head bump and now this. A dangerous precedent is being set here. If any other politician made this kind of blunder it would be everywhere.
Update 4:00pm PST: Still no video. Stories are starting to appear blaming the whole thing on Irish PM Brian Cowen and insinuating that Obama thanked himself as a joke. That is not the tone of the original Sky News article and if that is the case why is the video still absent from the internet or cable news? It surely exists.

Where's the problem? People thank the Messiah all the time in their speeches. He can't help it if the Messiah is him.
I think Big Hollywood should post a daily feature entitled "Bush's Third Term". The premise would be simple: each day, President Obama's most ridiculous blunder would be reported, but with the name "George Bush" used instead of his own. For videos, CGI effects could be used to superimpose his head on President Obama's body. This will allow late night comics to generate endless laughs at the utter incompetence, stupidity and ineptitude of our Chief Executive, which they currently seem unable to do.
A related feature would be "What Has Dan Quayle Said Now?", where the former Vice President could be used in similar fashion as a surrogate for Joe Biden. Hilarity ensues.

Hate to do the Chicago told you so dance- again- but every clear thinking person here (there are some) knew this guy to be smooth but clueless years ago. When he took the 'courageous' stand against the Iraq war he was a state senator (pretty useless position unless you have an eye on higher office) and was simply regurgitating the Billy Ayers Hyde Park cabal which brung him… any time he is off message he does the hamina-hamina thing. Look how Joe the Plumber picked his rhetorical pocket.

I had an idea a few weeks ago to use the scene in Bruce Almighty where Bruce messes with Evan's teleprompter and superimpose Obama's face on Steve Carrell's body. It seems even more pertinent now, but alas, I am not that skilled. Throw in a few 57 states comments, now thanking himself, comedy gold!
I think we can all agree though, that this will alleviate the agony Will Ferrell felt about not having any material to make fun of Obama with. I'm sure he was torn up inside and now, we can all sleep better knowing he finally has some jokes he can use.
This man is humiliating. Totally humiliating. Not only can he not think on his feet, he needs crutches to get through a gee thanks for coming here moment with a guy who could probably outglib him with one hand tied behind his back. When you get hysterical, you lose the argument.
You will never see this video. Obama's thugs have implemented a Stalin-esque control of the media, it would be impressive if it weren't so damn scary. Anyone who dares speak against him is instantly attacked, even Democrats like Jim Cramer who now might lose his job. His "truth squads" still haunt every blog and chat room shutting down any opposition or flaming and insulting anyone who disagrees. Videos against him are swallowed up or banned by YouTube. This guy is a marionette, an actor playing President controlled by a combination of teleprompters, speech writers, "advisers", and special interest groups and completely shielded from criticism. Liberals should be concerned about this too, this sort of power has never been held by an American official before (though Huey Long came close), this is a bipartisan issue.
Some European papers appear to be taking notice of this. Der Spiegel I know is beginning to show some concern as is the Telegraph in the UK. God only knows what America will look like a year from now unless his hold on the media is broken.

It's not about defending Bush, miles… hell there were plenty of times we were able to laugh at Bush's faux pas's (passe?)… it's the fact that once again, Obama and his staff (or his teleprompter might have gone all HAL on them? "I can't do that, Dave!") were once again embarrassing themselves on an international stage.
Popular? Not so much. A bit over half voted for him (some were just voting AGAINST McCain). Respectable? Hardly. Not after that "Oh, I'm so sly" bird-flip to Hillary, and then McCain. Not after the PM of Britain received a set of DVDs for a gift. Obama is not cool, respectable, classy,intelligent, eloquent, well-informed, humble or selfless.

I'm really surprised that no one has commented on the fact that the Irish PM recognized the speech was not his, but Obama did not! That says alot right there. Of course the fact that we will never see it says even more.

A difference in us with Bush and the Obama faithful is that we mostly saw the humor in GWB gaffes, while most of BHO people are irrationally offended if His (PHOH) gaffes are even hinted at; no sense of humor, self lobotomized, OFFENDED to the bone. It would appear that B. Hussein Obama doesn't read "his" speeches prior to reading them aloud while they pass before him on the teleprompter. Therefore, he would probably not recognize "his" speech from that of PM Cowen. Does that give you pause? Who's words is he reading? Who is the man behind the curtain? Does this make Obama no different from the newsreaders on network television? You bet I'm afraid!

Given that video of these "Fordisms" (which is really doing an injustice to President Ford, frankly) are not available, perhaps Big Hollywood could put some struggling actors to work reenacting these escapades and posting them to Big Hollywood and YouTube and other such venues as stand ins for the real news that the real news gatherers will not report on.
Obama's chief speech writer is 27 yrs. old and has been working with Obama since he became a US Senator. Obama calls him a "mind-reader".

Since we all know what we are up against in the msm – perhaps it is time to actually talk about planting our own reporters at these events. Not simply to catch embarrassing gaffes – that is what the left does, but as legit reporting and also to ensure those gaffes are recorded when they happen.

It is in fact the teleprompter that is the most powerful entity in the world. Mr. Teleprompter wants you to know that this is not something to worry about. It is hard to control a President with electronic microwaves and sometimes the wording does not come out right. President Obama actually does not exist. He is in fact a character from South Park. Don't worry next week Stan and Kyle and the boys will save us all with the help of Stephen Baldwin and John Wayne's Ghost.

After all, FDR is contstantly mentioned as one of his favorite presidents and the press took great pains not to publish any photos of FDR in his wheelchair, lest the people get the idea that he might be weak. Here, the press are suppressing any photos that would make Obama look foolish, lest the people get the idea that he might be weak. The only difference is where FDR's infirmity had no bearing on his capacity as a leader, Obama's problems show him and his staff to be a bunch of lightweights clearly not up to the job.
It’s kind a like that scene in one of the Airplane movies with the hysterical passenger, you know everybody lines up to slap him. That’s the way it is on BH when a troll shows up, everybody lines up and pounds away, funny don’t you think?
To be fair, after the gift gaff to Brown, Obama did send him the actual original US Constitution, saying, "We won't be needing this anymore so you might as well put it in a museum with the Magnum Carter thingy you got."

What looked like a neckace hanging around her neck was a tattoo that read "Every Black Man's Fantasy" (she happened to be white, not very attractive, and…well, trashy so I'm not sure many black men would agree with that). My husband and I made a U-turn to make sure of what we were seeing and you can't even imagine the dirty look we got. Isn't that the point of tattoos? to get people to look at you? I don't get it, never will.

Obama won in the largest electoral land slide since Reagen or LBJ. Hell, Obama almost won the state of MONTANA for crying out loud! Thats when the GOP really need to sit back and question their values if a so called 'black socialist' almost carried Montana. And he is everything you claim he isn't. Agreed. With Bush, the media made sure to show us every gaffe. With Obama, the media just tells us it was an innocent mistake (like forgetting to pay your taxes!) and no video is available.

There's this videogame called Little Big Planet and it allows you to make your own levels, whatever you want really. Of course, the first two levels I made were Obama, Pelosi and Reid related, I couldn't help myself. I'm thinking of making another one, Revenge of T. Prompter! There's only so long he's going to take being blamed for Obama's screwups. You could be SackBoy trying to help T. Prompter get the word out after he was fired, that the new T2 Prompter is really in control of the White House.

How is this dangerous? Because you didn't think there was enough coverage of a head-bonk too? If conservatism is going to succeed and bounce back, it won't be from trying to make Obama a "joke." After all, Bush won a second term despite plenty of media ridicule. It will come from having IDEAS. IDEAS in Hollywood that challenge the status quo. Ideas in DC that challenge the status quo. And solutions to the problems plaguing both places would help.

If I'm reading the story correctly Obama got up and began reading from the teleprompter which, so far as he knew, contained the very speech he had just given. Even if you take out the fact that the correct speech for the Irish P.M. had been put up by that time the story is still weird. Was he (Obama) just going to give his whole speech all over again? This makes no sense unless we assume Obama is near brain dead. We need to see this video.
Ahhhhh….remember the good old days when tatoos were limited to carnival workers and Navy guys? (and the carnival workers were probably ex-Navy guys) I can't decide which I despise more, tatoos or grotesque piercings. At least with the piercings, they can easily be removed and possibly only a scar will remain. I saw someone who had a tatoo "removed" the other day; you could still see the whole tatoo, it was just more faint. I could never understand how a human arm of skin can be considered less attractive than the same arm with some tattoo across it. I consider tattoos to be graffitti of the human body. Graffitti is vandalous "art" across someone elses property. Well, the human body is God's property, so tattoos are graffitti.

I am also unable to find a video of the event. It is odd that no video has yet surfaced of the US Pres and the PM of Ireland. One would think such an event would have cameras from all the major news networks.

Until further facts about this incident come to life, the spin in the conservative blogosphere continues to be shameful. The best coverage I've seen comes from the Irish Times (not sure if they are in bed with the lefties in our country, but the account seems unbiased), which lends credence to the view that Obama was making light of the situation when he "thanked himself." Also, see the posting on the Christian Science Monitor blog which notes that Obama "not missing a beat" rose to the podium and thanked himself.
Another issue is that the factual retelling by Rush Limbaugh seems to be patently false. On Wednesday, Rush claimed Obama rose to speek after the initial blunder by the Irish Head of State, and that Obama spoke for some indeterminate amount of time before thanking himself — I DO NOT SEE THIS FACTUAL SCENARIO CONFIRMED IN ANY OF THE NEWS REPORTS. Further, Rush says the British media covered this story better — but he only links to one Britsh story on the issue on his website — the other links are to other conservative media site. So, in effect, the story is being richoted around a conservative echo chamber. In the end, however, the message I take from this is that liberals, to some extent, brought this on themselves. The failed to give George Bush the respect due a sitting president during the past 8 years and now, in the words of Rev. Wright, their chickens are coming home to roost.
So, here's the Deal.
Unless and Until the TAPE IS RELEASED, this is all talk and speculation and spin.
All you hear about are "reports" from new outlets.
I think we should be able to judge for ourselves what happened with our own eyes and ears.

I've read pages and pages of these comments and FINALLY someone asks an intelligent question. Did Obama really stand up a second time to give his speech after he had already delivered it? Does that even make sense?
I wasn't there (and I obviously haven't seen the video) but it sounds like:
1. Obama gave a speech and sat down.
2. Cowan got up and started giving the same speech that Obama had just finished.
3. A few lines in Cowan realizes that this is not his speech, (don't forget…he'd already given his speech once that day so he KNEW what it was supposed to say but he's guilty of doing what everyone is accusing Obama of…)
4. He (Cowan) turns to Obama and says "that's your speech".
5. Obama gets up and pretends to read Cowan's speech thereby deflecting the gaffe away from Cowan's mistake with humor.
6. Everyone laughs and then they go drink green beer.
Once the video gets released it will be an embarrassment to Prime Minister Cowan. But much less so because of Obama's sense of humor I'm guessing.
