I don't know whether Lee Ermey has more purple hearts than the two Dale Dye has, and the 8 that other Combat Correspondents who served in the 1stMarDiv with Dye in Vietnam have. Was Ermey at Hue during Tet of 1968 where Dye and Stokey and Bernie Berntsen and other Correspondents got theirs? I don't know.

Having had the pleasure of promoting Captain Dye from Sgt. to SSgt in Vietnam, shortly after having been the Coordinator of the 4 FEN radio/Tv stations in Japan, your dead on target comments about Dale Dye were quite interestiong to me. Dale and I and about 20 other Ist Marine Division combat correspondents in Vietnam stick together and re-comvene every other year now.

I agree with Joef. Critics wonder why recent movies concerning our involvement in Iraq have not done particularly well at the box office – its simple, the American public does not share the same negative views proscribed by the Hollywood media elite and won't patronize films at odds with their own experiences and beliefs. Doesn't take a genius to figure this out yet I am always amazed by the figurative head scratching going on as to why the lack of success.

I heard "Lone Survivor" is being made into a movie – any news?

I had the pleasure of meeting Cpt Dye during the 2nd boot camp for the Pacific. I was one of the Japanese soldiers and even as the opfor (opposing force), the training and finer details that Warriors Inc's sergeants taught us was phenomenal. It was a distinct pleasure and honor to "serve" under him.
