Thanks for the wonderful article.
And as an aside, anyone who uses the phrase "for the greater good" in political discourse should be branded with the hammer and sickle on their forehead.

Mr. Phillips, thank you for your selfless courage. Your announcement that you have a "collection of thoughts" is bound to have the democratic attack/slander/libel machine thirsting for another victim. You must see they have no mercy, no conscience, and no remorse. A black man with a collection of thoughts will not be allowed to defend the right and criticize the left. No, no no! They will attack. They will lie. They will impugn you and use racist slurs. Good luck, Mr. Phillips, and be sure to plug your book here when it comes out.

Back when Soros tried to buy the Nationals, he got the same treatment as Rush. And we liberals ... didn't care. No tantrums, no tearful claims of being victimized. If you're controversial, you may pay the price, and whining about it instead of taking responsibility makes you look pathetic. However, since that's the grownup way to look at things, you conservatives wouldn't understand.

We see the same situation with the media. Bush was leagues nastier to the media than Obama is. Conservatives gave him accolades for that, and liberals didn't care. And now we see conservatives rolling on the floor, little arms and legs flailing, over a few minor comments. Every time I think the conservative victim routine can't get any more extreme, you guys surprise me. Fox tells you you're the ultimate victims, and off into parrot mode you all go.

Anyways, good luck with the standing up to tyranny and all that. The sheer bravery you've all displayed here is inspiring! After all, never before in the history of the internet has a group of keyboard kommandos talked big. I bet the dirty libs are really in for it now. You might even consider going to other conservative boards and talking big. That will show them who's boss!

"So, how'd this become an insult?"

People who never read "Uncle Tom's Cabin, or Life Among the Lowly" thought it sounded demeaning. Then it spread by word of mouth among the illiterate.

Sort of like how Kerry was 'swiftboated' by lies.

Orwellian newspeak.

Nice article. I've noticed recently that the left used to uphold a lot of feminist principles, but now they seem to marginalize women - for example, saying that muslim women should be free to choose to be veiled or wear a burkha. What if they choose NOT to be veiled? The left also labels the Republicans the party of old, white men and any female Republican politician is viciously attacked (except Dede Scozzafava) Then there's Grayson who acts like a hysterical nutjob, attacking anybody and everybody on the right. This is one Independent voter who is moving to the right. The left wingnuts have lost my vote.

My own opinion is there really is a health care crisis, but its not the one their teeing up.

The real crisis is Medicare and Medicaid are going broke, and we're rapidly approaching the date when it can no longer be glossed over. When they go broke, the government will have no alternative to rationing services, a.k.a. death panels.

If/when that happens, modern liberalism - the promise that government can provide everything - is proven a lie, and modern liberalism is dead. The majority of people will be on the outside, with private coverage, and we'll be looking in on all the people who bought into the lie.

And they can not let that happen. If that happens, they're finished, and they know it.
