It’s the End of the World As We Know It, and Michael Moore’s Cashing In
by Jason Killian MeathMichael Moore is a big fat idiot — or, is he? Actually, he is a big fat Academy-Award winning capitalist who is making a movie sarcastically called “Capitalism: A Love Story.” In it, he’ll use his magical megaphone to expose, in his words, “an economic system that is unfair, it’s unjust and it’s not democratic. And now we’ve learned it doesn’t work.” So… will he also park his little white ice cream truck in front of movie theaters and chastise patrons who wish to pay for a ticket? Will he offer the film for free — perhaps even share part of the proceeds with all of us? Of course not, he’s a millionaire.
–
We’ve seen this film many times before from Mr. Moore. The Bush years were kind to him as he tapped into the fears of Americans as they questioned the post 9-11 world, or worried whether there were bogey men hiding in the front offices of America. Now, he’s able to exploit the recession and all the hardships we endure in one great big Mike Moore spectacular! In Moore’s world, free enterprise is unfair, health care is unfair, the 2nd amendment is unfair, life is unfair, paychecks, layoffs, mortgages and democracy itself is unfair — and America is the bad guy.
While I was in the thick of working on media for George W. Bush’s re-election campaign, Fahrenheit 9/11 was released. A twenty-something who had been working for me went to see it one weekend. Thoughts raced through my head: “Was he a Michael Moore fan?” “does he really believe Moore’s outrageous conspiracy theories?!” These thoughts quickly vanished when he strolled in the next morning and said, “My friends and I laughed. It was kinda funny — nobody actually believes all that crap.” Just another way to blow off some time on a Saturday night, go have some chuckles (after all it’s only sarcasm, which is the only way I can explain John Stewart’s popularity, come to think of it).
Let’s face it: Moore is one of the most successful documentary filmmakers of all time. But he’s done it by becoming the P.T. Barnum of the left, if you will. In the end, Moore’s message is just another second-rate side show for suckers-born-every-minute. And, boy, do those suckers buy tickets! No worries, though — his over-the-top, skewed sensibilities are usually a bridge too far for most Americans. He’s regularly exposed by critics as horribly cherry picking his facts and heavily manipulating interviews. Moore’s stale formula is all so predictable, he even said it himself: “This issue informs all my other movies. I started thinking if I can only make one more movie – I started thinking this of course during the Bush years – what would that movie be?” Why, to insult America, of course! Bravo Michael Moore, you’ve outdone yourself again!
It’s all fine and dandy for Moore — he spends his spare time directing music videos for best-selling chart toppers like Rage Against the Machine and R.E.M. He’s sending his kid to private school. He owns a couple of homes. His speaker’s fees for preaching the ills of capitalism usually runs tens of thousands of dollars per speech. And, sure, he can spot a greedy capitalist when he sees one — they’re his neighbors. He wrote, “I walk among them. I live on the island of Manhattan, a three-mile-wide strip of land that is luxury home and corporate suite to America’s elite….. Those who run your life live in my neighborhood.” Gee, Mike — next time you bump into them at the clubhouse, tell ‘em all us little people said ‘hi.’
Now, Moore works the glitterati circuit in Venice, Italy hobnobbing and schmoozing the press. He reveals his capitalism slam-piece may be his last documentary. Can we be so lucky? But of course! Moore wants to direct features — after all, everyone knows that’s where the real money is!

What fascinates me about the spectacle of Michael Moore is the ultimate hypocrisy. You state it well here. Capitalism vs. Socialism (Communism, etc.) is also a real laugher. Everyone's existence on this earth has to be managed, it is a fact of life. No one has ever found a Utopian world without scarcity. So if we aren't going to use money (Capitalism) to choose our path then our only other choice short of force (guns, weapons) is to have government officials decide how to distribute the scarcity.
When these liberal elites really think about it, do they really want to have someone outside their life making all of their economic decisions for them? Are they willing to give up their freedom to the whims of government officials who will decide how to distribute scarce goods and services?
Part of me almost wishes we would try it so we could see Hollywood being told by a government bureaucrat that they could only create pro-government movies for the common good of society. Seeing the look on Clooney's, Moore's, Penn's faces would be priceless.

Well to be fair, Congress should cap his profits at $500,000
Even if the mindless fools who consume Moore's garbage would concede on specific points that he is wrong, deceitful, etc., the problem is that consuming his movies and other tripe results in his worldview working its way into the fabric of society in a general, overall sense. People might not agree that Bush orchestrated 9/11, but they might still hate him as a war-mongering fool. People might not agree that capitalism and free markets are bad per se, but still believe that "Wall Street" and "greed" are responsible for economic downturn. That's the danger with Moore. So while you might find solace in the fact that some of his "fans" find him ridiculous, their minds are still being infected.
“The wealthy, at some point, decided they didn’t have enough wealth,” the statement quoted Moore as saying.
“They wanted more—a lot more. So they systematically set about to fleece the American people out of their hard-earned money. Now, why would they do this? That is what I seek to discover in this movie.”
"I'm a millionaire, I'm a multi-millionaire. I'm filthy rich. You know why I'm a multi-millionaire? 'Cause multi-millions like what I do. That's pretty good, isn't it?" – Michael Moore=Hypocrite Fat Assed Puddle of Pig Vomit
Ah, but Michael Moore is the absolute, perfect, quintessential Socialist. His motto is "For me, but not for Thee". No real, sane Socialist would DREAM of actually living their beliefs. That's for the little people to do. And, compared to Michael Moore, we are all little people.
The hypocrisy of the Hollywood elite never ceases to amaze me. They all participate in the capitalist system and they've become rich and successful because of it, but, it's so unfair and it doesn't work. Really? How typically spinning of them. And some people wonder why I can't ever take any of them seriously. That fat man Moore is going to be paying a lot of sin taxes. Every time I see a picture of him, he's bigger. A fat, bloated ego to match his fat, bloated head. That man is on a fast track to a heart attack or stroke and that's the real reason why he supports government paid health care. Because it's obvious that he cares not one whit about his own health. Therefore, someone else should pay for it when he implodes. Typical liberal reasoning. If you can call anything they do reasonable.
He lives in a million-dollar apartment, and boasts of that as well. "I walk among them. I live on the island of Manhattan, a three-mile-wide strip of land that is luxury home and corporate suite to America's elite….. Those who run your life live in my neighborhood. I walk in the streets with them each day" (Michael Moore, Stupid White Men, p. 51). For vacations, he keeps another million-dollar beachfront house in Michigan.
"You would think that he's the ultimate common man. But he's money-obsessed," said one associate.
Michael Moore: Not just food obsessed, but $$$$$$ obsessed…He's a pig in every possible definition….
Hahahaha!!! OMG LMAO HAHAHAHA!!! Okay, now that was funny….
Oh. MM was serious. My bad…
Well, we agree on this, anyway.
I wonder if Michael Moore will go to Cuba for treatment when he has his heart attack?
Will he take his proceeds from this next boondoggle and invest in more shares of Halliburton?
Calling him a hypocritical big fat liar is an understatement. For all those leftists!
You mean "Lying Puddle of Pig Vomit" Don't forget the lying….
Compared to Michael "Where are my pies" Moore, John Candy is little….
Yes, George Orwell showed this perfectly in Animal Farm. Good point. One question though: Does Moore know he believes this way? I mean, if one hooked him to a lie detector and asked him if he believes he is truly chosen and elite above all other things that creep upon the earth and that normal tax -paying folks are truly "little people" would he himself believe it? Or does he truly believe in his own heart that he is a "little person" and is fighting alongside us? I'd love to know this.
If there is such a thing as cosmic justice Michael "You Gonna Eat That" Moore will get audited by the IRS and caught cheating on his taxes, lose his fortune and get to experience his own socialist utopia out of a refrigerator box for the rest of his life….
Just think, this might all have been avoided if this fat fool had only gotten laid a few times in high school.
just because liberal lefties hate capitalism doesn't mean they hate being rich…
Moore, like many other people who have done very little but be lucky to earn their fortunes think it's coming to him; he deserves it because he 'putting it to the man'… his reputation befits him- mean, petty, abusive, tyrannical and cheap- greedy as well.
Yep, he fits in well with that crowd, now doesn't he?

When this overrated, hypocritical, liberal lunatic shares his millions with me I might feel a bit more inclined to watch one of his stupid docudramas. Until then, Michael Moore will remain a big fat idiot… and an extremely ugly one at that.
This is what kicked the conservative light on for me a few years back. I have yet to see anyone on the left that practices what they preach. A guy with a six or seven figure income telling me I'm greedy for wanting to keep more of my five figure income just doesn't work in my mind. This idea of an equal, collective, fair society can't exist with human nature being what it is. Once you remove the incentive to get ahead in the world you remove the motivation. Why should I work when the government makes more off my labor than I do?
The man has reached the point of self-parody. In fact, he's such a sideshow I think the appropriate response is now simply to point at him and look aghast.
Regarding his films, we should be glad reality provides such a thorough refutation of them.
Yet I wonder if yet his credibility has sunk so low that critics will be reluctant to favor the film. Also, I wonder if this outright attack on capitalism can go mainstream with critics, since endorsing this film will be tantamount to declaring yourself a socialist. My guess is that while the President and government officials are forced to pay lip service to capitalism, despite what they do and might believe, at least a few liberals will jump on Moore's bandwagon. If critics are honest, the film's reception could be a telling moment, but more likely they'll weasel out of the moral choice and take either all sides or none. Aside from the most liberal critics, I'm expecting a lot of "mixed-economy," "shades of gray," and "Obama's fixing it" responses in the reviews.
Great Green Gobs of Greasy Grimey michael moore…
from reports I've read about his early forays into the work force and his refusal to actually be on time and work while there.. yes, I think he does truly believe he is above all things not himself.
"For vacations, he keeps another million-dollar beachfront house in Michigan."
We can always tell when he arrives as the entire states sinks about two feet in elevation when he lands.
He's such a typical lefty- point at and cry about the problem but never offer a real solution. Worthless.
again, moore is all about the
LIBERAL HYPOCRISY
to go with the
LIBERAL HATE AND VITRIOL
to go with the
LIBERAL AMERICA HATRED
moore gets away with his crap, because the obama sycophants love proving, on a daily basis, that they are hypocrites and America haters
Liberals will demand a "bailout" for him and all will be well! He's just "Too Big" to fail….Pun intended…
Very funny…………..but oh so disgusting!
You owe me a new keyboard for that one…..
That any sane person would even entertain the notion the Bush "orchestrated" 9/11 renderes anything else they say as irrelevant and anyone that buys it as ignorant.
Is that what that is? I thought it was Jennifer Granholm chasing away businesses with a club.
G.G.G. of G.G. Golpher Guts? A childhood fav and of course "Caddyshack" (modern ultra-classic)mainstay…
That and he eats a Dunkin Donuts…not just the donuts, the chairs, coffee machines, tables, every friggin' thing in sight…may he ignore his expensive Mahattan doctor and continue on his current *health* regimen
I considered the death of John Candy a loss, the *loss* of a M.M. uh, no.
She also chases her flandering hubby with a stick…I not sure I blame him for running….
You are correct. The point being made here is:
"That's the danger with Moore. So while you might find solace in the fact that some of his "fans" find him ridiculous, their minds are still being infected. "
I totally agree.
I was comparing their girth, not their worth….
Hard to believe this guy gets distribution deals. What an utter scumbag he is.
It is with a great feeling that I can say 'I have never seen any michael moore film'. The only time I have seen that fat tu-d is when someone interviewed him. That was enought to make my stomach turn and the same with the TV channel.
"Just think, this might all have been avoided if this fat fool had only gotten laid a few times in high school."
Well Ben, you might not want to go there, I see a whole lot of virgins who've never been kissed posting here, including yourself. Say what you want about Moore, he's married, BenBulbin and the rest of you will never be able to say that about yourselves. I
This is the guy that makes money of dead kids and then hopes an Iraq war comes around and goes bad. None of this is a surprise.
He reminds me of other phony dime store Bolsheviks in the the entertainment industry like Rage Against The Machine who spout their anti capitalist commie dogma but gladly cash their million dollar paycheck after playing a music festival.
he can afford a fat camp
Ah, Michael Moore…I had really hoped when Obama got elected, his appetite would finally be sated and we could go a few years without hearing from him. But he's back, with a new film that strikes at the economic system that's been the engine of this country for roughly 230+ years.
Here's the quote that gets me…
“…an economic system that is unfair, it’s unjust and it’s not democratic. And now we’ve learned it doesn’t work.”
Well, gee, when the left seems to be gumming up the gears, taking hammers to the engines, and spending hard-earned tax money (earned by capitalism, I’d like to point out) like cokeheads in Colombia…yeah, it’s easy to see that the system currently isn’t working. If you left the system alone and fixed it by not doing anything, then you’d see it running along with a Ferrari again.
Capitalism didn’t fail. Greed won. Yes, bankers and corporate CEO’s fleeced their companies and walked off with a bunch of money. Because they got greedy. There is a difference between “I work hard for my money and I’m going to do all I can to keep it” and “I worked hard for money and now I’m going to illegally make a whole bunch more!” The people who bankrupted companies and broke laws probably don’t equate to 1% of 1% of the American workforce, but what they are…are targets, plain and simple.
It’s like having a squad of soldiers willingly invade Mexico on a land grab, get stopped, and wanting to disband the entire United States Armed Forces as a result.
People got greedy. That doesn’t mean the system didn’t break. I mean, the Communist rulers of the Soviet Union made a good chunk of change while their country starved too, but I don’t hear anyone on the left saying THAT system is broke.
I don't see this movie doing very well at the box office. I mean, why pay to see something you'll be able to see for free at the re-education camps?
When you accumulate wealth, Michael Moore calls it greed. When he accumulates baked good and pounds around his midsection, what do you call that? I think he just wants a world were people are lazy and have the same disregard for personal appearance that he did. His behavior as an adult shows why it's probably a good idea to cut that fat geeky kid in school a little slack, because then he'll turn into a raging dooshbag, and the other geeks will worship him. He's like a real life version of Revenge of the Nerds.

This Lefty Slob is like cellophane. You can see right though him. He's a real Glutton for all the bucks he can make for Himself . He just doesn't want you to have the same opportunity. Like all the Lefty Swines. Michael Moore man of The People…..Yeah.
Is he trying to be in the world but not of it?
does he own his homes ironically?
I mean he can't possibly be a hypocrite, right?
Post-War world mass media romanticized the sinners as imperfect saints: we've cried as vampires–conflicted and misunderstood immortal beings–pine eternally for their lost loves and souls, rooted for the demons that use power granted by the Devil to fight evil, and lionized the rich man who swears he has the heart of the Everyman because he hates those like him.
Somehow we forgot that a vampire is a rotting corpse that sucks human blood, a demon is pure evil, and hypocrites can't be trusted.
When are we gonna see a documentary about THAT?
But Sir, if I kill all the golfer's, they'll lock me up and throw away the key!
No, that would be those apelike sounds you hear when she goes into one of her primate rages at the thought of a profitable job-creating business starting to succeed.
Must have been a shotgun wedding to begin with.
Indeed… when he goes there, nothing's left for the rest of us and we all have to make do with Krispy Kreme.
There will always be suckers ready to give this meglomaniac what he wants.
Wasn't that Whittaker Chambers' big criticism of Marxist/fascist/socialists in academia and social circles? They were, as had been said, useful idiots and fellow travelers, but they didn't have the guts to pick up a gun and actually follow through on what they believed. Moore is only following in a long line of precedence for those who believe/espouse the same things he does.

Patrick
I former employer of mine told me how he went to a Free Tibet concert where Rage was playing, and the lead singer came out on stage wearing a Mao t-shirt. How's that for a poor choice of accouterments?

Not golfers, you great fool! Gophers! The *little* *brown*, *furry* *rodents*
not my fault no one can understand you ya fuzzy foreignor
CobiWann – good points. Unlike Marxism (and its offshoots fascism and socialism), capitalism really isn't an ideology. It is an economic theory. It can work any any number of governmental structures (as evidenced in its long-standing existence before it was even formalized into an economic theory and the fact that it works just fine in China right now). The problem is that Moore, and those like-minded fellow-travelers who agree with him, have been raised in a cultural milieu that has been thoroughly infected with Marxist theory. It sees all of existence through economic theory, transforming such theory into ideology or, more accurately, religion, as it seeks to explain all of reality and human existence/behavior.
An excellent example of this is the use of the term "capitalistic culture." Those two terms don't work together, unless you *start* with the assumption that economics drives culture. That is why so many leftist pundits write and speak of capitalism as if it operated in the same fashion as Marxism.
To be fair, often capitalism and greed go hand in hand, but that is only when underlying cultural and/or religious restraints are stripped away as radical individualism becomes the predominate religious/ideological outlook. One may argue that we are experiencing such a cultural trend in the West (as I would), but that is NOT a fault that is laid at the foot of capitalism as an economic theory.

Patrick
"Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a mirac… It's in the hole! It's in the hole! It's in the hole! "
Did somebody step on a duck?
You're a lot of woman, you know that? Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?
*sniff sniff* It's no big deal! *crunch*
A looper?
A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald… striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one – big hitter, the Lama – long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga… gunga, gunga-lagunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.
