Carrying a handgun in your vehicle does not require a conceal and carry permit. This young man has a right to possess permit.

If EVERYONE understood the principle of “jury nullification” then no matter what charges the government would bring against folks who use their guns in valid defensive circumstances, the juries would just say “NOT guilty” and then the government would stop trying to prosecute folks who did the right thing. If you are on a jury, vote your conscience. If you think someone is being charged unfairly, vote NOT guilty, regardless of what the “facts” presented by the prosecutor say. Of course, you will have to lie to get on the jury if you are asked if you know about jury nullification as then the prosecution will not want you on the jury.

Also, any prosecutor who would dare to prosecute the guy who saved this women’s life should be thrown in prison himself.

Florida “Stand Your Ground” law is pretty clear. There will be no charges filed against this man. He did the right thing. You are allowed to use necessary force (including deadly force) to help somebody facing grave bodily harm from a criminal, as the victim was clearly facing. I am amazed at the attitudes and comments of some people out there, assuming that what he did broke some law. What kind of places do you live in? Weird.

Glad to hear the good folks are all ok. Above the line types take note. It would be great to get into development a pic that takes on the idea of ordinary citizens defending themselves by legal means. Non of the sophomoric good guy revenge stuff. Rather a deeply personal character study of an ordinary man/woman who takes the ultimate step to defend him/herself and the consequences of this action. Kevin Bacon’s “Death Sentence” could greatly be improved but Robert Culp’s tv movie “Outrage” back in the early 70’s would be much better! I loved that movie when I was a kid. In the meantime, I’ll keep my Mossberg locked and loaded.

This was a good story. Naturally the talking-head has to mention that police are trying to decide if they will file charges against the hero.

I’m amazed that with stories like these we still hear about police encouraging law-abiding citizens to turn in their guns and “get them off the streets.” If more citizens like this man carried guns every day, there would be a lot less violent crime; and when a criminal chose to commit a violent crime anyway, there would be a much greater likelihood that someone would insure he could not repeat the crime. This man has beaten his last store clerk. Huzzah!
