Leftists Artists Create Propaganda Not Art
by Joseph LindseyOnce a year the portrait of Chairman Mao that hangs above Tiananmen Gate is replaced by a new one. Who the artist is has never been disclosed. For Napoleon, Jacque-Louis David was his favorite painter and the man most responsible for creating his iconic image. Artists like these do not toil away at their craft because they love their leader, they are told to paint. That’s what makes Obama art so dangerous, the artists do it for love. In the last election the public plastered the image of Obama to America with the same hormonal glee that I did when I nailed Farah Fawcett to my childhood wall.

Barack Obama told voters everything they needed to know about who he was, but mesmerized by his image, America didn’t listen, and now finds itself in a dirty shirt underlined by a faded message.
The artistic images of Obama are no accident and they can come from only one place. A place so deprived of rational thinking that when the brain has a vision, it sees itself changing the world with every turn of its cog. I’m speaking of the American contemporary art scene.
Salvador Dali once famously said, “Those who do not want to imitate anything, produce nothing.” Artist on the left produce nothing, disguised as something, hoping the masses will imitate it. When Sheppard Fairey stole the image of Obama from an AP photo and created the “Hope” poster – he knew what he was doing. That’s what makes Fairey so brilliant, he knows how to sell an image without being told. My respect for Fairey comes from his willingness to tell you up front that his art is propaganda.
Not so much with other artists.
David Cordero went a step farther than Fairey’s hero worship by creating a life size Obama as a messianic figure – entitled “Blessing,” which gave him a moment in the national spotlight but no lasting following and no buyers for mass produced neon lit Jesus Obama’s. Liberal artist are only able to see outrage in the world when they’re political hero or God is not in office.

The sophomoric art of the Bush presidency was only hailed as artistic because artist were creating it for an audience that was, at the time, susceptible to anything they created. And, if it could ultimately hold their morning coffee or cover their waxed chest, all the better for them to show the world their outrage while making money off hyped up Hope and Change fools.

These same artists are not creating work today that depicts Americans struggling through this tough time in history because that won’t get them into nightclubs in New York and L.A. Instead they spend their time designing Nike sneakers and filling out paperwork for grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and hoping the money comes through by 2012 so they can paint the evils of being a Mormon, a Christian or a conservative.

With Democrats is such deep water headed into the November elections, will artist like Fairey attempt to bail out their party with pop culture art in the hopes of washing away the rational thinking of the American public? Only after November will we know if we sat and watched the paint dry, or we covered it up with a broad stroke of primer. If art is to be part of the culture war, then we as conservatives should break out the war paint and color the face of America back to its red, white and blue.

I absolutely love the "Faded Hope" photo at the top of the thread. Tell me where I can buy one, and I'll be the first one to pay good cash money for it. I'd hang that sumbitch on my wall in a New York Minute!
Bravo!
Dude…please proofread before posting!
All the leftist propaganda comes off as childish to me. There's nothing clever or creative about it. It must appeal to the lowest common denominator…
the 'central planning' one works for us, here as well…
My favorite picture/artwork of Obama is still the "Joker" shot. It is just sooooooo perfect for this joker that is our president.
and want to know the sad thing about being a propagandist?…
They are only popular with their subjects as long as THEY are popular. As soon as the tide turns, then the disatisfaction with their image makers becomes extremely pronounced.
Stalin had his 'propaganda art' practitioners routinely tortured for failing in their objective…
A New York Minute. The amount of time it takes between the light turning green and the car behind you starts beeping the horn.
We should expect anything else from a set that includes Robert "Does this bullwhip make my ass look big?" Maplethorpe?
Well it's an improvement that people recognize it for what it is.
A better letter-head for that famous Hope poster=DOPE!
I'm trying to do my part.
…How faded and ignored those "Hope" posters are now – even in inner-city shops here in NYC & Philly…..
NOPE works well too.
Art and politics, like food and dung, should never, ever, meet. Period.
I appropriated both the HOPE artwork and the joker into HYPE. Unfortunately I can't post links and my post gets deleted. Maybe someone who can post links can link to it.
The domain is: mutaytor
The directory is: mupix
The jpg is: hype.jpg
The gif is: change.gif
The only thing missing is the dot com and the slashes.
The time for government to get out of the "art" business was right before the pornographer Mapplethorpe made a horses arse out of the common US taxpayer.
Hucbald, is that you playing on the recording you linked? That's pretty good stuff. Thanks.
No, that's the NYC measure of the difference between the speed of light and the speed of sound. A New York Minute is how quickly you can walk three city blocks…with or without jaywalking.
I have a better version I did myself from the HOPE artwork. It is called HYPE but I can't link without getting deleted. See below for an alternative.
"Hype."
Perfect!
Unfortunately, no. That is an extreme virtuoso guitar piece I composed that is far beyond my physical skill level, so I have to settle for a MIDI to MP3 conversion for now (Until I can get an ambitious virtuoso interested in it).
Thanks for the props anyway.
There's nothing dangerous about the art. It's bizarre, creepy and ludicrous, but the best part is that it grows increasingly hilarious. The jug eared poodle is two years into his presidency and Obama "art" already feels like kitsch.
I want everyone to sit back and ponder if you will ever see any of this "propaganda" art in a reputable museum. Answer: no. Because it's not art — it's kitsch. It's Andy Warhol taken to the Nth degree. When I hear these "artists" talking about their "art" as if it had any cultural value outside of the political aroma of the moment, I honestly have to cover my eyes pretend they don't exist. It just makes me so ANGRY.
Actually, if any of you are interested in the liberal insurgence into the world of art, art criticism and art history, you HAVE to read "R@pe of the Masters" by Richard Kimball (with an 'a' where that @ symbol is). It's excellent, and even hilarious at times. There's nothing like having someone as intelligent as Kimball pull the carpet out from under art academics and send them crashing to the floor in a sea of their own brain-waste.
Like the site. I'm not sure why your link would be deleted. Here's mine as a test: http://freedomfightermedia.com/ffm_wir_6sep10.htm
Alas the museums are packed with this crap , the lefty rich can't stop buying it. They see themselves as the future Polit bureau bosses , the future Putins of America.
I'm from NY too, and NYC does not have a copyright on being cranky. Happens up here in upstate too.
I was hoping the people plastering that poster all over the place would've kept going with it.
you owe me a keyboard….
Back in the Cold War, the Comies used the term "agitprop" for agitating propaganda. Nowadays the neo-left uses "agit-pop" for agitating pop culture.
Thanks. I am the webmonster for the site but I only maintain it except for all my personal content on my cast page and linked from there.
I don't think I have enough posts yet or something like that. There are no explanations anywhere and all I got was a canned reply when I tried emailing support.
I should add that my HOE avatar is a total ripoff of hope only with Joker Pelousi and I took the time to do it as an actual photo with lighting to match.
Didn't the KGB….Errrr…..Wait…. The Secret Service get on the posters case??
the old rule of thumb indeed, never sh1t where you eat.
The only Obama art I want to see is that lovely rectangle of paper from the hospital where he was born.
I'll settle for the lovely rectangle showing his transcripts from Columbia.
This is why the NEH should be dismantled. The government has no place supporting those who stump for one party or another. The more you look at this the more it resembles the arts programs of the old Soviet Union.
My apologies. Kinda fits with the lefty notion that if we all just break stuff ((cash-for-clunkers) or in this case, coffee for keyboards) we can create economic prosperity though, no?
"If art is to be part of the culture war, then we as conservatives should break out the war paint and color the face of America back to its red, white and blue. "
I tried- but my last American flag painting was ignored on this site-on the 4th of July no less. So was this painting and an article that was supposed to accompany and explain the "do you know this man" painting:
Toady_light.jpg
What kind of moron takes the time to paint, or sculpt a political figure? …woops my bad…a liberal!
Dig the faded Barry, perfect.
Duh…..artists have been doing that since cavemen dipped their fingers in wet chalk and made cave paintings about their "lives, beliefs, enemies, and their wars."
and?
That 'Obama as Jesus' sculpture is one of the most offensive things I've ever seen. Why do so many people look for their Gods on Earth? All they're going to find is crap. Human beings are fallible, and not one of us is worth worshipping under any circumstances. If they were so happy not believing in God, as they're so quick to assure us at every available opportunity, why do they try so hard to fill the void with something so substandard? I really don't get it.
On a random note, why is it that so many BH articles separate Mormons and Christians as if they're two different things? The LDS church worships Christ as the Savior and Redeemer of the world and the literal Son of God, just like other Christian religions do.
That's a great portrait. The washout is due to Lady Liberty and Blind justice crying tears on the poster to show their sadness as to what the spoiled toddler in chief has done to this country. Reelect him back into obscurity and uselessness in 2012..
Kristine,
Go over to Big Peace.
There is a cartoon there, using your theme…………
It could also be wee-wee.
I'm just sayin…
More and more postings are looking like a high school journalism class blog.
BH – Please proofread ALL the articles before they're posted.
The kind of morons who sculpted the Presidents on Mount Rushmore or the statues in the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials.
There's something appropriate about iconizing *old* political figures who have actually *accomplished* things, and something very creepy about iconizing *living* ones whose history hasn't been written yet. Can you say "cult of personality?"
Freshjive, an LA streetwear company, owned by Rick Klotz,
who is a leftist and highly critical of Obama is behind 'HOPE
IS FADING FAST.'
Obey is the artist behind 'OBAMA central planning we can
believe in.'
Nice article. I too find him endlessly facinating and so I'm
not surpised by the facination of others. He's Bill Clinton
but black! I believe that some of this original art work will
fetch a handsome price some day. Unlike Bush art, which
you can purchase for the price of a cup of coffee.
"It's Andy Warhol taken to the Nth degree."
And you definitely won't find his work in museums!
I agree. That's real art without the imitation. I instantly went on eBay and made myself a T-Shirt out of it. I love the looks it gets here in LaLa Land. The caption below the picture says, "Socialism, Not Now, Not Ever!" I think that message is starting to get through to the average voter. It is our war cry for November and again in 2012. So you want a revolution…..
LOL… Saw it … No copyright infringement….;0) Though Funny…
What you call art is just coffee mugs and mass produced posters that may have some value when recycled as toilet paper. Preaching to the choir may keep up his image as an great communicator for a while but his atheistic leftist brethren will tire of losing elections and toss him under the bus soon enough. And poor people do not like paying for their cheese, or cheesy art when the black-light lamp runs up their electric bill.
The seperation does imply that there is anything "wrong" with members of the LDS church.
But there occurs at some point in the difference of ideologies that the nomenclature no longer applies to all parties involved.
Examples (albiet possibly exagerated):
The Jews and Muslims believe in Jesus but their belief is not the same as the generally held doctrines of the majority of Christians.
I have references to former LDS members who coverted to Christianity and they quite emphatically paint a different picture that the LDS does not "worships Christ as the Savior and Redeemer of the world and literal Son of God, just like other Christian religions do." The ideology and doctrines are just not the same.
BTW, I give you a thumbs up for the first paragraph.
well there brain surgeon you won't be able to afford a cup of coffee when the chosen one is done picking your pocket like a common street urchin. comparing obama to bush is like comparing a little leaguer (obama) to mickey mantle(bush) you can't compare the two .pres.bush loves america and proud of it obama is continually apologizing for it. well mr president of the nwo don't apologize foe us we love america just the way it is.
The comparison of the Latter Day Saints and Christians is incorrect. Mormon theology is far different than Christianity, in so may ways that I won't try to post details here, just a link with summary info which is a good place to start your own research. Mormons will tell you that they are Christians, and will try to convert you to Mormonism if you are a Christian, which seems to be a conundrum, no?
No, they are not the same, not at all.

Usually when a person ends up leaving the church, it's because they're bitter about something, or they were raised in the church and never really believed it to begin with. It's far rarer for a member with a strong testimony to end up falling away and converting elsewhere. Which means, you shouldn't put too much stock into the claims of ex-LDS members. Our history is full of ex-members spreading easily disproven untruths and distortions about the doctrines of the church (even if they mean well), that a simple reading of the scriptures or the teachings of the prophets would dispell. Everything we believe centers around Christ as our Redeemer.
Yes, there are a few differences in doctrines between LDS members and members of other Christian religions, but we do love and worship our Savior. He is the focal point of our religion. By every definition the Bible gives, by Christ's own words and the words of His apostles, we are most definitely Christian. The definitions of men who lived 400 years after the Savior's death do not matter. Christ's definitions are what matter, and by those, we are numbered as His followers. He is the only one who can say otherwise.
But, having said that, I wasn't offended by the separation in the article, I just thought it was a bit strange. I mean, you wouldn't separate it out to "Baptists and Christians", or "Lutherans and Christians," would you? To faithful LDS members who worship their Savior with all they have, there is no difference. =)
While I appreciate your taking the time to comment, I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. You see, the Savior has not given you the responsibility of determining who is Christian and who is not. That is something He reserves for Himself, and I would be very wary of trying to usurp His authority on any subject, let alone something so important as the state of another's soul.
I don't need to do extra research to know what I believe and which beings I worship, and nobody on this Earth has been given the authority to deny me that. According to every definition Christ and His apostles have given, I am one of His followers and am numbered in His flock. If I choose to take His name upon me and do my best to serve Him daily, that is between my Elder Brother and myself, not anyone else. You've never met me, and you don't know what's in my heart. Until you suffer for every single thing I have ever thought, felt or done that was less than absolute perfection, you aren't allowed an opinion on the validity of my testimony. Nobody but Jesus Christ gets to determine whether or not I'm allowed to call myself one of His children.
True Christians do not exclude others from the flock, they welcome them in with open arms. Just something to think about.
What I sent to NBC and The Today Show:
One of my personal choices as an artist is to reflect the mood of my country/people/times. I have painted a portrait of Mr. Matt Lauer that I am sure he and his peers would consider, at the very least, less then flattering. It is my hope that people in positions of incredible influence, such as Mr. Lauer, will come to understand that they will be remembered and taken to task, in their lifetime and beyond, for the choices they've made-as journalists, as men, as fathers and as fellow countrymen. They've chosen to be propagandists to one ideology and/or one party over another and they've assisted in the very contemptible practice of vilifying an entire segment of the American population by spreading the lie that these Americans are racists. They've done this to their neighbors and fellow-law abiding citizens-because they had the gall to practice their freedom of speech and assembly.
Of course-that last point refers to the Tea Party activists-and for the record-no-I have never been to an event. Everyone at NBC should be ashamed-but no one is kidding anyone here about that possibility.
I struggled with this painting and I have held onto this painting for the moment because I would personally prefer to be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem-but day in and day out, I see that you guys do not have the same concerns-and we all have a duty to record this mood and/or this time for future generations.
I don't understand… why is Ed MacMahon 100% pure EVIL?
A great article on what a lazy, plagiarizing artist Fairey is. Oh, and a perjurer – when he denied copying the copyrighted photo for his Hope poster – looks like he created it with a couple clicks in Photoshop. http://www.art-for-a-change.com/Obey/index.htm
It's definitely interesting to see when people finally begin to notice the bloom's off the rose, particularly when they're progressives themselves. It's usually the most damning criticism one can find.
Propaganda art always sells well. You should have seen how much the Nazi paraphernalia my grandfather obtained as "spoils of war" during his WWII tours in Europe appraised for. Satirical art sometimes does, but it depends on how good it is. And let's face the facts: the majority of anti-Bush stuff was craptacular. Even if I was a progressive I would still admit it all looked like ten-year-old-with-a-pirated-copy-of-Photoshop.
