EW’s Ken Tucker Exploits Martin Luther King to Launch Racial Attack Against South Carolina Voters
by John NolteIf there’s anyone the entertainment media elite hate more than our GOP candidates, it’s the great unwashed who dare vote for someone who isn’t Barack Obama. In a bizarre but seething article — at an entertainment site, no less — film critic Ken Tucker was unable to control his contempt for We The People Who Think Ken Tucker Is Wrong About Everything. GOP supporters, like the ones who enjoyed themselves at last night’s debate, are now fair game — even in bathroom reading like Entertainment Weekly. But it’s Tucker’s cynical use of Martin Luther King that’s beyond the pale, even for Ken Tucker.
Lowlights from an elitist frustrated over his inability to defend President FailureTeleprompter: [emphasis added]
Huntsman was undoubtedly relieved he didn’t have to stand on-stage Monday night to face the most raucous, roused-rabble audience of any Republican debate held thus far.
[T]he people in the seats hailed lustily the history lesson offered by “Professor” Newt Gingrich: “Andrew Jackson knew what to do with his enemies — he killed them.”
It was a wild, schizo crowd. They yelled their approval of Rick Perry’s suggestion that America should “go to zero on foreign aid.”
The audience showed a nasty streak in the booing Fox questioner Juan Williams for asking Gingrich[.]
The jeers that erupted the second Williams uttered the phrase “black Americans” was chilling on this Martin Luther King Day. Gingrich didn’t help matters much when he said a bit later, “Barack Obama has put more people on food stamps than any president in history.”
It was a light laugh line in a night that was heavy with malice — not from the candidates, but their supporters. Moderator Bret Baier might have done a bit more to try and quell the mob.
What Tucker is doing is trying to scare off moderates from joining the “nasty mob.” This is the same approach these MSM liars used against the Tea Party.
And the left obviously hates the fact that Obama owns the food stamp record, so it’s now racist to speak the truth, especially on Martin Luther King Day — because we all know Dr. King would want his day used as racial club to stop people from speaking the truth. You know, because he was all about that. For Tucker to exploit one of our greatest Americans in such a cynical, divisive, and racially charged way is about as low as you can get.
But it’s early in the election, and you can bet the house Tucker and company haven’t come close to hitting a bottom.
People always accuse me of hating the media. I’m just hating them back.

I wonder how loudly Tucker's head would explode if someone pointed out to him that Rev. King was a Republican.
Liberals have no problem using solemn occasions like MLK's birthday or funerals to further their political agendas. Nothing is sacred to a lefty except an inefficient government program. I believe that Obama was nominated by the Democrat party JUST for this reason. So that ANY dissent against him could be used to throw out the 'r' word which normally shuts down ANY debate cold. It just ain't working though. Failure of HIS misguided economic policies are trumping the race card played by these sleazy, liberal girlies.
the unwitting racism that these clowns display with their implicit assumption that food stamps = blacks is very telling of their true beliefs.
Wouldn't a conservative/Republican be called racist for inferring that food stamp recipients = black people? The true racists are on the left, as always.
Isn't is interesting Ken Tucker calls hard working, tax paying citizens who hate what is being done to the country they love " MOBS" ,while at the same time the real mobs, aka Occupy, are encouraged, promoted and bankrolled by his ilk.
We retired to the Myrtle Beach SC area 2 years ago and the majority of the people here are God and country honoring. Ken Tucker uses the only weapon he has in his arsenal and that is name calling and stereotyping. He's a typical left wing bully-boy.
He probably hates the south since people keep calling him Ken Tuckey.
Who is this clown and why should I care?
The same people who's heads would explode to learn that MLK jr was a Republican would also explode when they learn that Susan B Anthony was also a Republican.
I don't even consider EW bathroom reading because it is not fit to take the place of toilet paper.
If I knew who the guy was, his opinion still won't matter.
you should care because he writes for a magazine that's read by a portion of the 15-20% of voters who swing elections. This crap reinforces the concept of Republicans as bigoted, selfish, uncaring yahoos while Democrats represent the just and moral.
and the guy who shot him was a democrat!
EW is constantly chumming the water when it comes to this garbage. Tucker is just one of many from this rag constantly pushing their liberal agenda.
It's really amazing when you look back at history and find the distinguished names of black Republicans and women. Then go find the distinguished names of black Democrats – Jesse Jackson, and Jr., Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan, Malik Shabazz, etc. Quite a difference.

In these Facebook times, maybe MSM "hate" will cause mainstream American "like" for Romney and other Republicans.
Did that take all your courage, Ken? Hiding behind a dead man to spit on us?
It would have been far more "chilling" if Juan's race-baiting question wasn't booed. This country is going off the rails with identity politics. Whatever happened to the notion that laws should be applied everyone equally instead of politicians trying to grant special favors to people of a particualr skin color for votes?
And if you have ever looked at an issue of EW for reasons other than being bored in a waiting room, much less actually worked for the insipid tools, it's a safe bet to say you really screwed the pooch on this whole "life" thingy.
Yeah but what are you gonna do, silence him? Leave that to the left-wingers.
As a publication of the mighty Time Warner parent company, EW exists for one reason: to promote Time Warner Inc.'s products. Period. That they and all those products skew far left just makes it that much more fish wrap.
"I believe that Obama was nominated by the Democrat party JUST for this reason"
Bingo. And if the shoe were on the other foot and Hillary won the nomination, they'd be using accusations of sexism to shut down debate. That's basically what the whole 2008 dem primary was about. Neither of those people had anything remotely resembling an accomplishment to their name and were both spouting the same self-righteous marxist drivel we've heard a million times before. The only difference bewteen the two is what card they would play when their policies inevitably wounded America.
"Nothing is sacred to a lefty except an inefficient government program"
And murdering babies to buy the irresponsible skank vote.
Tucker has always used EW and social media to stroke his own ego. Nobody gives a damn about his opinions.
They basically view black people as dogs; loyal pets who will bark and snarl at their opposition in exchange for a treat every now and then.
The audience booed Williams because they knew what was coming and they're tired of the politics of race. Tucker knows that, but he's doing what I suspect most of the media will be doing this year: twisting the facts to fit the narrative they will use to try to get Obama re-elected. That narrative is this: any opposition to this President means you are racist, with the 1%, or simply too dumb (as the recent Newsweek cover suggested) to understand this brilliant President.
On a side note, did anyone catch the interview Bill O'Reilly did with the leader of the SC Democratic party? He criticized the GOP for holding a debate on MLK day. When O'Reilly pointed out that the Democrats did the same in 2008 (a point that was never brought up during his interview on MSNBC), he back tracked and said his real complaint was that the GOP hadn't reached out to African-Americans in South Carolina. Blacks vote 90% for Democrats, so this man's complaint seemed to be that he was concerned that Republicans weren't doing enough to woo blacks away from his party, which he certainly doesn't want. So basically he was doing everything he could to imply racism on the part of the GOP that doesn't exist. This is what they are doing this time around.
"he back tracked and said his real complaint was that the GOP hadn't reached out to African-Americans in South Carolina"
He didn't by any chance elaborate on what he mean by "reach out" did he? I'm eagerly anticipating what exactly is implied by leftists when they trot out this meaningless slogan.
Ted Turner = Satan. And the not the cool heavy metal/horror movie Satan either. The lame one.
And that is one of the BIG reasons I cancelled my subscription to EW a long time ago – their increasingly leftist commentary seeping into every article, review, etc. Ken Tucker has always been a leftist jackazz "journalist"…
oh oh…can't have them black folks start thinkin' fer their-own-selves! the left NEEDS them to stand there, with their hands out for the entitlements and acting like a population group with only one brain and no possibilities without the left's stingy "help". The goddess knows if they start realizing that self determination and success are possible for THEM, too, they might not blindly follow the leftist demonRATs anymore.
The left has destroyed the black family, the black community, and the education system for ALL population groups.
You sure that ain't Orville Faubus??
Another liberal using the parrot race card.
Surprise!
I hope the folks in SC remember this idiots trash talk in Nov.
Yes, it was pretty funny in a "kick a cripple" sort of way. O'Reilly set him up and the silly doofus just walked right into it.
If the audience stopped showering, came with sleeping bags and set up a drum-ring he would have loved them.
Democrats like to criticize Republicans who dare to notice racial facts. Blacks do indeed participate in Food Stamps at a much higher rate than Whites – nearly four time greater in 2001. I can't find later stats.
Crazy old coot Ron Paul likes to mention that blacks are more likely to end up on death row. Since blacks commit about seven times as many murders as whites per capita, that shouldn't be too surprising. Whose side is he on?
Fox New and many conservative radio hosts refer to the Democrats tactics as "class warfare". Actually it's more like "race warfare". When a black politician (Obama) speaks of redistribution, what does he mean? Does he mean it in a socialist sense or does he mean it in a black reparations sense?
Obama seems to be strangely disconected from the economic pain of America. Does he console himself by saying to himself – "most of the people who are suffering are white".
The Dems can't run on their policies. They HAVE to shut up the opposition somehow and it boils down to either race, gender or class warfare.
He would say: "That was then, it just shows how far the once respectable Republicans have sunk", you know the drill. We´ve heard it before. But of course he would have said the same thing ten, twenty, thirty or forty years ago.
Democrats put in the "Jim Crow" laws because blacks voted Republican since the Republicans ended slavery. Now the Democrats are pushing the race issue hard for fear of losing the black vote, since LBJ stated with the signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 "I'll have them n-gg-rs voting democratic for the next 200 years". Fear of losing blacks from the plantation is pushing the race card being played everyday. Today, if you throw the race card it means you have lost.
Who says anything about silencing him? The question was "why should I care?" and I think tony_k1 answered it. Though to be fair media bias is so common it hardly bears mentioning anymore.
I say we don´t silence him … we just shout him down and ridicule his tiny megaphone.
Much more fun.
Or that Bobby Kennedy ok'd wire taps on King.
Mr Tucker is one of the reasons I canceled my subscription to EW a few years ago.
You tell them! Johnson was a nasty plotter on nearly every front. And he was the kind of Southern Democrat that Nathan Bedford Forrest would have loved.
Ahh the tried and true method of liberal projection. We have seen it time and time again especially in the entertainment industry. Haughty "well-meaning" liberal "celebrities" espousing their views and judgments on race relations, ironically enough all the while showing themselves to be the individuals that think like a racist. (I'm lookin at you Ms Garafalo).
There you go again, bringin in those pesky little things that liberals love to hate (or just outright ignore)…facts. Shame on you kbs55
This guys always been a liberal loon for a rag I used to read, It was ok during the "good ol days" of the Clinton years, but when the "evil" Bush era dawned upon us, him and his liberal ilk reared their ugly heads to include a diss about him and the Iraq War every chance they got! I read this from day one until about '04, when I couldnt stand it anymore, and havent seen it since!
Indeed. They called Goldwater, Buckley, and Reagan every name in the book when they were relevant but since their slanders never really tok root, they decided to simply co-opt them after they passed. No doubt you'll see the same pattern repeat with current genreation of Republicans 30 years down the road.
who?
Why is it that some of the most obnoxious, pretentious race hustlers are whiter than an eggshell?
