Jim Rockford Tells #OccupyWallStreet Off
by John NolteOkay, that headline isn’t exactly accurate. But it’s Friday and you’ll see what I mean…

Someone sent that to me on Twitter and I hope they will forgive my not being able to find the tweet and thank them properly.

Rockford is right on point. It reminded me of this fictitious but much needed dressing down:

Made my Friday. Thanks John.
And thanks, Jim Rockfored.
One of my favorite Rockford conversations.
I think it is during this conversation where the babe attributes something to karma and Rockford replies:
"That's not Karma, that's crap."
I like! I like a lot!
Unfortunately, that scriptwriter was summarily fired the following week.
Perfect!
Man that burger looks good….
Beautiful!
Rockford Files rock.
Sadly, current TV is populated with too many metrosexual eunuchs.
Here's another keeper courtesy of James Garner and Paddy Chayefsky:

"… but we haven't produced a Hitler or a Mussolini …"
Yeah, but we have produced a Carter and an Obama. Fortunately, we also produced a Reagan, too, so that squares it.
Is there any way to play this on continuous loop the #OWS flat-screen in Zuccotti Park?
You just beat me and my idea by 1 minute. Great minds and all that.
I adore that movie! Thanks for the link.
Hmm. I may actually have to start watching this when it comes on the Retro channel.
Good for Jim Rockford. Too bad the actor playing him isn't as squared away. It was a major disappointment, after being a James Garner fan for the past 50 years, to find out recently that he is a lib.
Wow! In that clip above, James Garner looks a lot like David Boreanaz on the show BONES.
Amazing!
My favorite James Garner dialog – as he gets the report on a new cigarette that his company is about to manufacture –
"Tastes like shytte and smells like a fart! Got ourselves one hell of a product on our hands. It's one unique advertising strategy, I'll tell ya that. "
Read the entire exchange here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106356/quotes
I always loved that show. Jim Rockford struggled to pay his bills and had no time for nonsense. He was as close to an everyman character that I've ever seen in a detective series.
Yep, huge lefty.
Good lord, talk about living in the past…
where is james, we need to send him around to all these occupy places.
We can always count on you to leave a brain cell killing comment.
You mean like the 60's hippie wannabe's stinking up the town square right now?
Awesome.
In addition to "pwned," we can now add "Rockforded" to our vocabulary.
If these Freaks had to face just one consequence of their choices without getting bailed out by Daddy or the equivalent, they would soon learn what reality is. It is fun.
Only the rich or the extraordinarily charismatic can get away with a lifetime of "living in my consciousness". There consciousness translates to some version of Daddy's money or someone's couch.
Brilliant!
Thanks, oh, un-named twitter person!
BURN!!!!
Wow – that would NEVER make it on these days. Always liked Jimmy – said whats on his mind – great writing, great delivery!
Great clip. I must say, however, the young lady is so much more sympathetic than the obnoxious, bigoted OWS crowd. I would probably see her as misguided or overly idealistic. At least she seems like someone you could converse with. Unlike the rabble of OWS.
Keep on living in the PAST. Watching your fuzzy VHS tapes of The Rockford Files, Gunsmoke, Leave It To Beaver, The Honey Mooners and The Andy Griffith Show.
When you finally catch up with Buffy The Vampire Slayer , and the 90's, you will have made some progress.
IF you actually make it to the 21st century by watching Mad Men, Pan Am, Tru Blood and American Horror Story – alert us to that amazing feat by sending us an E mail…
No….. make that a courier on horseback.
In other news: Omar Sharif slaps woman who doesn't know here place.
http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/10/omar-sharif-sla...
At least she wasn't trying to excuse pooping on a police car.
The 60's. Exactly! While I and others live in the present, you and your bunch live in the past, watching James Gardner and John Wayne and Lilian Gish, while listening to Pat Boone on your dusty phonographs.
Mr. Holland:
What you said in response to Nolte's post was "Good lord, talk about living in the past…"
You are such a troll, but you really never get it. Maybe a few pictures will help. Maybe you are a visual learner.
Do a Google image search of the following: "hippies in San Francisco" or "hippie anti war demonstration" and the do a Google search of "occupy Wall Street"
Hundreds of images are worth a million words.
And just like eulodol said "You mean like the 60's hippie wannabe's stinking up the town square right now?"
"Good lord, talk about living in the past…"
Saber
not to mention the old standby: Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
I feel so sad for you, if you only had an open mind perhaps you would have a greater appreciation for American art, culture and history.
You should get out of your mom's basement more.
You would be pathetic if you were not a child.
THANK YOU!
You made my Friday.
Ignorant child.
So willing to give away liberty for the sake of free crap at the expense of others…
You should stop being so greedy and envious of others' success and natural talents.
Perhaps you should refocus your life's pursuit on what you can build rather than that which you seek to tear down because you are so woefully inept.
Say hi to your mom!
Reagan ! You forgot Ronald Reagan…..

Here's a "golden oldie" that nails you libtards too…hee hee. Bob Hope:

P.S.
There will never be any lesson you can teach me or any other American because everything installed in that pin point you call a brain pan has already been tried and proven wrong.
No thanks, I'm doing just fine.
I don't drink socialist Kool-aid and I don't do brownies.
Way the "whack -a-doodle" the troll-mole Missy!
Like that clown is teaching us anything. HA!
The liberal mind works exactly like this:
"I'm miserably depressed all the time and you're exuberantly happy all the time so let's both be miserably depressed forever because that's more fair for me…"

More brain cell killing bather from Mr. H as in Mr. Hopeless.
There goes Mr. Holland and his non-existent opus of petulent pomposity.
There goes Mr. Holland and his non-existent opus of streaming non sequiturs..
an apt scene indeed.
Best part I loved, she would not eat the bread or the lettuce but the beef went down easy.
One can live in the present and still enjoy entertainment from the past. Or are you one of those individuals who refuses to watch any television shows or movies that are in black and white, or listen to music made before you were a teenager or read books that aren't cool by current standards? If so, then I pity you, for those people are missing out on a whole world of entertaining movies, TV, books and music.
Yes, I do enjoy the old movies and some of the old TV shows. I read the classics like Moby Dck (had to leave the "i" out to get past the censors), Les Miserables and so on. I listen to Blues, Jazz, oldie Rock and Roll and Big Band music. But I also watch new movies and TV shows (I'm really enjoying the show "Reven∞e"), read new books and listen to some new music, mainly Country (since pop music sucks as much today as when I was a kid), but it's still new.
The great thing is, I don't watch those movies or TV shows on VHS, or listen to music on records (I do still read actual books since I prefer the feel of a book in my hands over a plastic e-book reader). I own a DVR and have quite a lot of old and new movies and TV shows on DVD. I also download shows on computer. I also own an iPod as well as several music CDs.
So please kindly stick the arrogant attitude that just because we might enjoy the old entertainment that we are somehow not living in the modern age. We are communicating with you through the internet that we access on our computers.
Please the shock would be to find the other way around. To find a tv or movie star that is conservative would be the shock. I don't have a problem with James Garner being a lib. It when you spout your mouth off (i.e. Matt Damon, Sean Penn) that I have a problem with and do not support under any circumstance.
Just a reminder that those who forget the past will make the same mistake.
Please Jill St John got slapped harder than that by Sean Connery in Diamond are Forever. The question should be asked: Why did she remain to have her picture taken with Mr Sharif?
We now know they are bought and paid for by SEIU, Code Pink and Soros. What else is new?
If they weren't, they wouldn't be there. They have no spine.
One of my favorite all-time Rockford episodes. Even more funny if you are of an age to have lived through all that silliness. My other favorites were the one with the incomparable Anthony Zerbe and the two with Tom Selleck as Lance White. I keep thinking how much Higgins would have really liked Lance White as opposed to Magnum.
THat's hilarious, James–I don't remember ever having seen that–thanks.
She turned in a great performance, though. Try to watch it and make sure you see the transformation at the end. I knew people like this. She was spot on.
Awesome clip!
The line you quoted was great, but my favorite line was "The only reason the French take two hours for lunch is because the service is so lousy."
Who is James Gardner?
You hate it because it's "old" and "past". We love it because it's "correct" and "rational", and this country needs a return to these ideals. I know you can't accept this, but you are the problem in this country.
I often view them like Arabs and Al-Queda.
The progressives and their ilk BUILD nothing.
They tear down, divide, destroy.
They actually BUILD nothing.
The vast majority could not jump start a car, kill, field dress, and transport a deer, or anything of the sort. They are truly the most dependent creatures who ever walked or crawled or slithered on G-d's green earth.
Standards are timeless. Trends are not.
"Expanding my consciousness." Translation: self absorbed.
Can fish protest the sea? Can OWS and their associates successfully protest against the society they are a part of?
Here, I'll read their tea leaves:
OWS will be gone within a few weeks. The protesters will fall back into the world order they wished to change, and life will go on. This time of protest will not show up on their resumes when they look for work.
Bottom line: you can't change the world if most of the world doesn't want to change.
One of the reasons I like Jim Rockford. The show is timeless, 1974 Firebird notwithstanding…
Even their character's personalities are the same!
Are you really *that* angry?
Jennifer Gardner's father.
Oh my how I hate hippies.
And I Love me some Rockford. But nobody gives a verbal bashing to hippies better than Joe Friday.
Welcome to equality, right?
great clip! : )
Yeah, hippies are soooo modern. Lefties are perpetually living in 1968. [Not to mention 1917, Russia]. You guys keep revisiting the same failed crap over and over.
Throwbacks.
I've never watched second of any of those shows but I do very much "live in the past" when it comes to music and movies and am a better person for it.
I wouldn't pat myself on the back for being caught up on "current" TV when rehashes of Charlie's Angels, Hawaii Five-O, and the freakin' Thundercats are in syndication.
"Quickie Nirvana" on of my favorite episodes.
Mine too.
"That's the sound of one hand clapping!"
You nasty little punk. I hope to go toe to toe with someone like you one day.
Something's wrong there.
SCOTTY IS A RED SHIRT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful..
That was one of the best TV shows ever.
Scotty would whip Obama's ass, then take a few slugs off his flask of fine, aged Scotch.
In his commandeered tank! What was that flick, same era?
Time for The Big RoundUp and Dump Off out at Sea. These DemoRatBalls don't float!
I can almost hear the woman in this clip muttering her next line: "ugh. last time i offer a post-structuralist critique in public!”
My favorite was his magic business card maker he kept in his car. He was also the first guy I remember, that if he his arse kicked, it looked like for the next few days.
and they constantly demand a comfy living from those of us who can.
Agreed.
This episode had another great line I'll never forget. As best I remember it, this same hippy chick, in all of her new-age theorizing rhetorically challenges Rockford with, "What is the sound of one hand clapping?" Later, when the gangster she has been in cahoots with slaps her, Rockford remands her, "That's the sound of one hand clapping." Priceless.
Decrying people living in the past? A useless complaint.
However, I would love if leftist could live in the *futures* that their selfish ideologies will inevitably produce.
If this show were on TV now, I'd watch it like it was new!
This works too:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAIpI8IxgFs
excellent…who doesnt love Jim Rockford
Ditto
I noticed that, too. Apparently, her "consciousness" doesn't mind if she eats animal flesh.
That's awesome! I saw this movie years ago and forgot about that line.
Excellent!
Looks like Hussein is hellbent on repeating it.
Wish all the libs would see this! But they wouldn't just say the writer of the show was a conservative, so what he says doesn't matter. After all, they only quote hollywood if the script agrees with their lib mindset.
