‘The Undefeated’ Review: Doing the Job the Corrupt MSM Won’t
by John NolteWhat an indictment of the mainstream media that in order to present to the public the missing pieces of a major political figure’s governing record, an independent filmmaker has to drop a cool million of his own dollars. While our corrupt journalist-class is (at this very moment) out trashing Governor Palin’s children, blaming her for their own acts of public urination and proving they know nothing about Paul Revere (or Google), writer/director Steve Bannon is putting the final touches on “The Undefeated” (this is a review of a rough cut), a feature-length documentary that does the MSM’s job for them — tells the intentionally ignored and buried stories of Sarah Palin’s two decades as an unconventional but very effective public official. Unless you’ve read the Governor’s autobiography “Going Rogue,” anyone with an ounce of intellectual honesty will find it impossible to sit through this film and not ask themselves, “Why haven’t I been told this?”
Broken into a series of chapters that focus solely on Palin’s political career, the film itself opens with a jarring (in a good way) montage of bitterly hostile celebrities who obviously don’t have enough humanity of their own to see the same in a mother of five. Among others, Bill Maher, Rosie O’Donnell, Matt Damon, Joy Behar, David Letterman, and comedian Louis CK lash out at this woman and her family (including Trig, her Down Syndrome son) in jaw-droppingly cruel and sexual ways that would surely garner an R-rating (there will be an unrated and PG-13 version released). Even though part of my job is to track this celebrity venom and nothing I saw was new, the sheer volume of hate still takes your breath away. Bannon’s answer to this is one of the film’s more effective moments: a credit sequence over home movies where we watch Sarah Palin — someone’s little girl — grow up. Since none of those celebrities were born with a shame-gene, you almost have to feel ashamed for them.
From here the narrative smartly avoids the personal biographical beats of Palin’s life and jumps directly into her life as a political figure. Bannon secured the audio rights to “Going Rogue” which allows Palin herself to tell much of her own story and right off the bat we’re treated to one of those inconvenient facts the MSM ignores. What inspired this blue collar, hockey mom married to an oil worker to get into politics was the devastating 1989 Exxon Valdez environmental catastrophe. The oil companies clearly held too much power in Alaska and a seed was planted that would eventually grow into the woman currently giving the GOP establishment and corrupt media fits as she tours America in a bus.
There’s nothing partisan about “The Undefeated.” The Republican establishment and Big Oil take a well-deserved beating from open to close. If anything, they come off worse than the Left who are really only guilty of being their awful selves. It’s just a fact that throughout most of her career (and the film’s second act) — as Palin moved from Wasilla Mayor to Chairwoman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission to Governor — she fearlessly and effectively battled her own party and Big Oil almost every step of the way. I don’t want to get too wonky in a film review, but as you watch this particular section you’re going to learn as much about the MSM as you do the Governor. Try to imagine how many elite, blow-dried souls Lucifer was able to secure the rights to in order for them to gain the sway needed to convince the public that an undistinguished half-term Senator most famous for voting present was more qualified to be President than one of the most successful and popular governor’s in the country.
——
An important theme that develops is Palin’s unwavering principles. That doesn’t mean she’s not willing to work with the other side. In fact, just the opposite is true. But during an interview in one of the many pieces of heretofore unseen news footage we’re treated to, Palin says it best (paraphrasing): “A politician has a choice between eating well and sleeping well.” In her public life, Palin has resigned from two offices; once as Chairwoman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation in order to call attention to corruption and most famously as Alaska’s governor. The former put her at odds with the GOP establishment and cost her middle-class family a six-figure salary.
The latter cost her a ton of political capital.
In both cases, it’s quite obvious the Governor understood that the consequences of her stepping down would be personally devastating, but in both cases she chose to sleep rather than eat well. Sure, Palin could have hung on as Governor and avoided taking fire as a “quitter” even from some on our side, but at what price to the State of Alaska? A never-ending stream of frivolous ethics complaints not only threatened to bankrupt Palin’s family but had also frozen the government’s ability to get anything done. A mercenary politician more concerned with his her own personal ambitions would’ve held on to that office at any cost (to everyone else). Instead, Palin made the kind of sacrifice you just don’t see those in power make. Should Palin choose to run for president in 2012 there’s no way around the fact that her decision to step down as Governor will be a major headwind — which means that those of us looking for leaders willing to make unpopular choices for the greater good should appreciate her decision all the more.
Leftists in the MSM (but I repeat myself) have already complained about “The Undefeated” being commissioned by Palin (a lie) and that it skips over issues like the nonsense-scandal that was TrooperGate. But the very fact that everyone reading this already knows about TrooperGate answers that criticism. “The Undefeated” is about filling in the gaping holes the corrupt MSM intentionally dug. The documentary is new information for anyone still stupid enough to watch the Nightly News and read Politico. Furthermore, unlike the MSM, Bannon makes no secret of his biases. He’s not weaponizing objectivity or trying to con anyone. But if the early response is any indication, critics intend to do to the film what they to do to Palin: ignore substance at all costs.
Among others, thanks to Andrew Breitbart, Kate Obenshain, Tammy Bruce, and Mark Levin, “The Undefeated” closes strong — especially when Breitbart attacks GOP establishment “eunuchs” who to this very day lack the “chivalry” and courage to fight those who seek to destroy this woman in unprecedented ways. But even larger-than-life personalities can’t outshine the Governor herself. In a series of well-selected clips from recent speeches, there’s Sarah where she always is: alone on a stage in the middle of the fight talking about her love for America, her belief in liberty, and fearlessly giving hell to whoever has it coming … regardless of party.
Will “The Undefeated” change minds? I think it will, especially among open-minded Independents who have yet to be introduced to “this” Sarah Palin. Thankfully, due to New Media and a filmmaker willing to put a million of his own dollars where his mouth is, we can now get the truth out there using our own Bus Tour — our own message-delivery device that works around the GOP eunuchs and corrupted MSM.
With any luck, the season of watching the insufferable choke on a hockey mom’s exhaust has only begun.
“The Undefeated” is a comprehensive and at times moving must-see for anyone interested in the truth about Sarah Palin.

If you worry about what the left thinks of you, you've already given them the authority to set the premise of the debate. That means they've already won it.
Ms. Palin refuses to allow the left to do that to her. Which is why she's winning the debate.
Thanks John! I look forward to this very much.
“The Undefeated” is a comprehensive and at times moving must-see for anyone interested in the truth about Sarah Palin."
Sadly, the truth is out of vogue.
Every time I hear some mindless drone repeating the mantra about how "stupid" and "unqualified" Palin is I ask the person what it is about Palin's political career they find so objectionable. I have yet to hear a response other than stammering embarrassment. The "oh, so clever" Left is shockingly ignorant about this woman they HATE so very, very much.
Give em hell, Sarah!!
This post no doubt suggests that Palin is ready and fit to be the next President of the United States. But I can't get over one line, and one facet of Palin's public life that seems to not be a major concern for Nolte:
"Should Palin choose to run for president in 2012 there’s no way around the fact that her decision to step down as Governor will be a major headwind — which means that those of us looking for leaders willing to make unpopular choices for the greater good should appreciate her decision all the more."
Abandoning her post as an elected official certainly allowed her to make huge amounts of money for herself as a pundit, lecturer, and writer, but what has it really done "for the greater good?" She's focused on negative charges directed at Democrats and she's steadily whined about the media and the treatment of her family, but what has she done that's proved she can lead in addition to provoke? Based on her role as running mate to McCain and her decision to quit the governorship, seems all she has proved is that she can't follow through.
Don't you mean, "Doing the Job the Corrupt MSM Willfully Hasn't Done Since 2008"?
You can find out how the Associated Press finally reported on the gas pipeline deal, in late October 2008 here. ( http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election200... ) The Associated Press article was so biased that the Anchorage Daily News, no real fan of Palin, felt obliged to come to Palin's defense here. ( http://www.adn.com/2008/11/01/574868/misfire-at-p... )
From the ADN editorial (emphasis mine):
To claim that the best the AP could do reporting on Palin's record by late October 2008 was a "remarkably skewed account " that took quite a few, uh, liberties with the truth is absurd. It seems that the non-reporting and mis-reporting was clearly deliberate.
(Not surprisingly, Justin D. Pritchard and Garance Burke were also involved in the Associated Press "fact check" hatchet job on Sarah Palin's book.)
After reading "Going Rogue" I came away with a deeper disgust for John McCain. At no time during the campaign did he tell his staff, "If you disrespect my VP nominee, you're disrespecting me." He didn't make any attempt to cooridinate the campaign with her (hence she had to find out from Fox News that McCain was pulling out of Michigan) and I honestly believe that the trash talking from "unnamed insiders" toward the end was sanctioned by McCain. The fact that his daughter has made a living off Palin bashing is further evidence.
The other thing I came away with was a deeper respect for Palin. At no point did she ever even attempt to blame McCain for any of the crap she had to endure. She speaks of him with nothing but love, respect and admiration. If she did "blame" anyone one it was that putz Steve Schmidt — but she didn't even do that. Just condemned his habit of dropping f-bombs in front of Piper.
Interestingly, the name of "longtime, close personal adviser and Palin insider" Frank Bailey is mentioned nowhere in the book. Not even in the five page acknowledgement section. Maybe he was the inept legislative coordinator she fired. A slovenly fellow who liked to walk around with his fly open and his shirt button crookedly.
Sarah's sense of self worth comes from her relationship with God. That is clear both in her book and the way she lives her life. The left hasn't got a chance to tear her down.
Try to imagine how many elite, blow-dried souls Lucifer was able to secure the rights to in order for them to gain the sway needed to convince the public that an undistinguished half-term Senator most famous for voting present was more qualified to be President than one of the most successful and popular governor’s in the country.
Exactly! And we're paying for their bias BIG TIME.
The only people who can tear you down are those you grant the power to do so. Refuse to give than that authority!
AK Lt. Gov Sean Parnell is a solid conservative who handily won reelection in 2010. Largely because he was unhampered by a trail of ethics complaints that tied up Palin's administration, and thus he was able to continue her policies. Palin's polices have left the state with a $12 billion savings account.
That you refuse to listen to the truth is your issue, not Palin's.
During his last year of office as MA Gov, Mitt Romney was out of state more than 200 days. Can you guess what states he was in?
I'd call that much more of an abandonment than Palin's. She left her state in the hands of a competent conservative. Romney left his state in the hands of no one in particular as he ran around the country setting up his run for President. And not by meeting the people, but by meeting the party power brokers.
People I otherwise like and respect have stated such a strong dislike for Sarah Palin that I've come to believe that they have been utterly brainwashed by network t.v. It's frightening and it makes one wonder how deep is the brainwashing? Are some people losing the capacity to think and act for themselves. How safe is the republic at this point in time?
The best review so far. Fantastic job!
I suppose I should add that it has always been quite easy, even before Sarah Palin was picked by John McCain, to read articles from Alaskan and other independent sources (including Israeli documentary maker Elan Frank) to attest to Sarah Palin's character and the details of various smears from when those events happened. From the comfort of New Jersey, I was able to find out what the whole book-banning episode was all about (the librarian was close to the incumbent Sheriff that Palin was trying to oust and who she felt was undermining her, hence the "loyalty" concerns over the librarian), what the rape-kit controversy was about (Palin's sheriff wanted the rapists to pay the cost, not the rape victim, which may be a bone-headed opinion but not an evil one), and "Troopergate" (I think Mike Gravel's comments here pretty much sums up how normal people should view it). Yes, I think there are some more plausible critiques of Palin out there (among them, Andrew Halcro's article "What it's like to debate Sarah Palin") and I don't think she's perfect, but she was deliberately undermined and mischaracterized by a mainstream media determined to elect Barack Obama at all costs.
First of all, just because someone else is doing something worse doesn't make her actions ok. That's just not how you determine right and wrong. Second, you say she left the state with $12 billion in savings. If she was doing such a great job, how much more could she have saved if she'd served the remainder of her term?
And if Palin gets elected President, it's ok if she steps down, just as long as she leaves someone "competent" at the helm? That may work for you, but I demand more from my leaders than abandoning ship just because they think the first mate is good enough to steer. Especially when they abandon ship just to go make a lot of money.
Any “corpse-man” from the 57th state, speaking Austrian, while using a breathalyzer for an asthma attack, in the midst of a spelling bee, and the word a “three” letter word “jobs” can tell you she’s much smarter than Barry or B-B-B-Biden.
Give’em hell Sarah, great fun.
More facts for you:
At the time Palin stepped down, the investigation of the ethics complaints had already cost the state around $2 million. That's in about 8 months from the end of the 2008 campaign until her resignation in July 2009. Which is the time frame in which ALL of the complaints came in.
Additional facts:
From the day she announced her resignation, July 3, to the date she stepped down 3 weeks later, July 26, THREE MORE ethics complaints came in.
It was VERY CLEAR to anyone paying attention that the MO was to keep up these complaints for the remainder of her term.
You do the math. Here's a head start:
The ethics investigations had cost the state $2 million in 8 months. Using round numbers, if Palin had stayed in office for her remaining 18 months and the complaints had continued – as it seems very likely they would have considering they still came in AFTER she announced her resignation – then it would have cost the state around $8 million.
More facts:
Palin accomplished EVERY ONE of her campaign promises in her first 2 legislative sessions. Transparent gas line process. Check. Ethics reform. Check. More fair valuation of energy industry taxes. Check. Opening up more areas for drilling. Check.
Again, you're refusal to consider the facts and the reality is your issue. Not hers.
BTW, office holders swear an oath to uphold the law for their constituents. There is no time frame in most swearing-in oaths that I'm aware of.
Palin served her constituents by upholding the laws and keeping ALL of her campaign promises; her decision to step down was also serving her constituents by saving the state a potential $8 million price tag and a stalled government for 18 months.
You can disagree with her assessment.
But stop refusing to examine the facts.
Oh.
And the President is protected from frivolous ethics complaints. As are most governors – and the AK governor now since they've changed the laws since Palin stepped down so no AK governor will face the same situation again.
So no, claiming that because Palin stepped down in the totally different circumstance as AK gov, then how do we know she won't step down as president is an unbalanced statement.
Educate yourself about the realities of AK government and federal government.
Once 'The Undefeated' comes out, will Palin's Poodles be on Wikipedia rewriting the entry for the 2008 presidential election to fit with the title?
I'm really glad to hear there is going to be an X-rated version.
As I have said before (and been roundly blasted for it), I like Palin, but I don't want her to run for POTUS. I just don't believe she has what it takes.
That said, the things written and said about her are just inexcusable. I want the X-rated version to expose these terrible people for the vermin they are. She certainly does not deserve this kind of treatment for simply being who she is and stating her beliefs. The kinds of things said about her and her family exposes the left for what they are. It leaves no doubt. It should be heard by all in America.
THIS is how the battle is going to be won – by broadcasting the truth ourselves, not leaving it in the hands of a Katie Couric or a Tina ("I can see Russia from my house") Fey liar, etc. In 1517, the Protestant Reformation happened only because the Guttenberg press printed Luther's theses which the Church refused to; so in 2012 our conservative revolt won't succeed unless we broadcast Sarah's truths that the MSM won't. We must get the facts out there ourselves – we won't win any other way.
"If you worry about what the left thinks of you, you've already given them the authority to set the premise of the debate."
As usual, Ed, you hit the nail right on the head. That is exactly it. That is the problem the GOP has – worrying about what the Left thinks and/or says about them.
And I think that is why I've always loved Sara from the moment I was introduced to her that bright August, 2008 morning. She just simply does not care.
And in that, she reminds me of Reagan. Reagan didn't care either. He knew what he wanted to do, he knew what he needed to do . . . and he did it. He didn't wait for anyone's blessing. He just took charge and did it.
THAT is a leader.
I'm surprised Obama can wipe his own arse without permission.
A thousand thumbs up to you! Great response!
The woman is ALL class.
I read the above linked article by Andrew Halcro with great interest. The subtext I came away with is that Halcro, like most modern politicians, understands Palin's strengths, but he doesn't really "get" her. The very last anecdote is particularly revealing:
"And when she does answer the actual question asked, she has a canny ability to connect with the audience on a personal level. For example, asked to name a major issue that had been ignored during the campaign, I discussed the health of local communities, Mr. Knowles talked about affordable healthcare, and Palin talked about … the need to protect hunting and fishing rights."
He still, as a modern politician, is viewing it as a performance. All he noticed was her ability to connect with the audience. (politician translation: get more votes). You know what I noticed? Halcro and Knowles talked about issues from the position of government activism; when a politician talks about "the health of our communities" or "affordable healthcare" you can bet they are talking about ways of spending *our* money on *their* priorities.
But what did Palin talk about? Individual rights. The right of the individual to engage in basic, ancient human activities unhindered by the heavy hand of the state. Awesome!
Halcro describes Biden as a "policy wonk." I think that's being very, very charitable to someone who seems to me to be the epitome of an attractive figurehead wafting along on the hard work of his staff and handlers. I've never seen anything to indicate that gaff-machine Biden is a brilliant master of the intricacies of any particular policy. However, even were that so, I have seen even less to indicate that he has baseline principles that he is unwilling to violate, no matter the particular policy or political expediency.
Palin doesn't give that impression. The people who love Palin love her because they can imagine her as their own wife, friend or mother. They see that she gets the underlying principles that large swathes of "fly-over country" hold dear and that she believes in American excellence, individualism and self-reliance. They see that she doesn't go to church because she think it polls well. They see that she isn't anti-abortion and pro-family because her constituency demands it. They see that she really believes those things. I don't know what she thinks of helicopter sales to Turkey. But I don't have to. She's shown that she can be an effective executive. Tomorrow's question will be different than helicopter sales to Turkey, but the skills to navigate the complexities, weigh options and make decisions will be the same. I see she's done that, and that the principles that guide her are ones I share.
While oh-so-superior leftists were using Bristol and Trig as comic fodder, the rest of us were turning and looking at the beloved son or daughter sitting right next to us — the one with a developmental disability, or the one who made a bad decision and got pregnant even though we'd tried really hard to raise her so that wouldn't happen. When they were laughing at her and her kids, they were laughing at us. We won't forget that.
She's us.
THAT is a leader. Amen!
For someone we are repeatedly told is a non-relevant entity, she sure does have a remarkable ability to shape the debate. Off the top of my head:
The current Paul Revere thing
Death Panels
Party like it's 1775
I am reminded of when she first exploded onto the stage, and I read one astute liberal blogger who suggested something like this:
Stop talking about Sarah Palin (to team Obama)! Every time you do, you end up hurting yourself more than her. Let the media and hollywood do it for you!
Like I said, very astute advice. If Palin runs, she'll win the nomination as no other GOP-er has her kind of base. If she wins the nom, she'll shape the debate and refuse to allow team Obama to duck serious questions. She will certainly be able to win, even likely.
Sarah Palin is the MOST FEARED conservative out there as far as the left is concerned.
JUST LOOK at how much the LIBRATARDS are going out of there way to trash her.
IF she was NOT a THREAT would They be saying anything??????
They KNOW Sarah Palin IS electable,…
AND IF she runs against barry in 2012,…
She WILL CRUSH him with indisputable numbers.
Rush is RIGHT about the establishment Republicans ALSO FEARING SARAH
All the "serious" (sarc) pundits feel this way too. WHY else would they go OUT of their way to trash her.
THEY ARE TERRIFIED OF SARAH.
they are all peeing in their pants at the thought of her running.
Remember,.. the MORE they say how easy she will be to beat or how stupid she is etc,..
one word.
TERRIFIED.
Reagan was an actor for 20 years BEFORE he became a politician.
This is one reason he was able to LOOK so in control (which he ALSO was)
He understood the theatrics of politics better than ANYone else at the time.
Keep the message simple and easy to understand.
EVIL EMPIRE. TEAR DOWN THIS WALL. THERE HE GOES,.. AGAIN,..
Reagan WAS a MASTER politician, there is NO denying that.
To day we MIGHT be witnessing the birth of the NEXT MASTER politician in the Reagan school.
Altho it remains to be seen in that she might not run,.. and America will be poorer for it if she does not.
All I can say is Carter / Reagan 1979.
And we ALL know just how THAT worked out thank God.
The Leftwing nut LIBRATARDS know in their bones that Sarah Palin,…
IS Ronald Reagan ALL OVER AGAIN. IT TERRIFIES them to no end.
ESPECIALLY the ones who are OLD enough to remember Reagan.
So they are trying with EVERY thing they have to,…
destroy her in a pre-emptive strike.
If you have heard ANY of her recent speech's, you understand.
Sarah Palin REALLY IS the real deal.
Not some pre-packaged made up configuration like their hero Barry.
The Left senses this and has reacted like expected.
IF she runs against barry in 2012,…
She WILL CRUSH him with indisputable numbers.
Compared to barry she is Exactly what America will NEED to repair
ALL of the damage wrought by the Dumb-O-cRATs and barry and his UNION masters.
This is ONE MORE REASON America NEED's Sarah Palin NOW more than EVER.
And I can NOT stress this enough,…
Sarah Palin IS ONE of the ONLY women IN the REPUBLICAN PARTY,…
With the "B A L L S" to tell Barry and his UNION masters,…
AND the Dumb-O-cRATs to SHOVE their agenda were the sun does NOT SHINE!!.
PALIN / BOLTON 2012
or
Barack Obama 2012?
then “YOU may want to think about a TRADE-IN.”
PALIN / (Fill in the blank) 2012
What will it take to get Bannon's film shown in eastern Massachusetts? I'd be willing to bet that theater owners here will be afraid to screen this film, regardless of the election of our junior US Senator.
That post is a teachable moment.
all hail the new televangelist and her band of misfits on on her traveling show
PALIN / joe the plumber ?
I thought we already covered this one……
Alaska has a law where any citizen can file any lawsuit against the governor and the governor has to pay for their legal defense out of their own pocket. In an attempt to silence Palin, frivolous lawsuits were being filed left and right to bankrupt her.
That's the left's definition rational debate. Shut your opponent the hell up.
Try to imagine how many elite, blow-dried souls Lucifer was able to secure the rights to in order for them to gain the sway needed to convince the public
The road to hell is paved with good intentions…..
Glad to see even the trolls are afraid of Palin, why else slander her so relentlessly?
Facts do not matter to leftist trolls
They have the Truth as definded by the Ministry of the same name
The gaff machine that is our Barry, must be exposed, and will reveal who the real dummy is…Barry.
Mark Levine on his show, did a best of Barry’s dumba$$ comments, great stuff, and should be used with regularity, as 2012 approaches.
Now Now no one cares about Musolini … er…. Barack Obama latest travesty of speeches
why do you FASCISTS at Media Matters bring it up
Urgent message from Team Parasite!
Glad to see you have a coherent point to make. Way to go!
You must stay home a lot. That sparkling personality of yours is just misunderstood, right? When was the last time anyone invited you to join them?
I'd be curious to see it myself, Australian TV news has always followed the US theme of Bush equals stupid and Sarah got that treatment quick smart as they get their US news feed from a partner channel in the US so all the coverage is completely one sided. So while our news anchors are reasonably fair when dealing with local politicians, they just attack Sarah and worship Obama which is quite sickening and annoying as I see the truth on sites like this.
I would like to be nice in my reply, but I am having a hard time. If you don't like quitters why did you vote for Obama( yes you did). You know he also quit ,but he kept taking his salary & perks. Plus he tied up the job so that he would have something to return to if he lost(if only). The msm has been so one sided in this debate that many people are happy to hear of the audience being lost to them because of full time propaganda dressed as news. If you don't know the difference between leaving & reloading, watch the next 8 years as our country comes back.
she lost her bid for the vice presidency in 2008 and then couldn't even finish her governorship in Alaska. what's so "undefeated" about this woman?
You logic is matched only by your reading skills, trollip.
Thanks Team Parasite member we appreciate your concern.
awesome the name-calling has started.
anyway i did read the article and was left thinking that if she should run and take the presidency she can almost count on more of the "ethics complaints" that plague nearly every high profile [not to mention controversial] political figure.
also, bailing on public office to take a higher paying job as a pundit for a cable news network while touring the country promoting books about herself and taking paid speaking gigs doesn't sound very altruistic or even leader-like.
Now that is one great review.
I wish more people were interested in the truth about Palin, but as we can see today, people easily accept lies, fabrications, fictional autobiographies (someone was having Dreams alright.. Ayers?), computer-generated birth certificates, etc.. so easily. (Exhibit A: the election of Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Soerbarkah, whoever he is..).
In order to be a LibProg, one must know – not merely believe – that up is down, right is wrong, evil is good, and so on. In other words, one must suspend reality, dispense with it, toss it aside. I'm channeling Charlie Sheen here, but all that matters to a LibProg is WINNING. That's why Sarah Palin must be utterly destroyed. She is an obstacle to LibProg acquisition and consolidation of power. This isn't your grandpa's Democrat party we're dealing with today. These are thowbacks to the fascisti in Italy and the Brownshirts in Weimar Germany. When I read about LibProg attacks on Sarah Palin, I am reminded of the fascist movements in Europe and here, in America, under Wilson and Roosevelt. It has happened here before, and it's happening now. Think: Wisconsin.
i'm not "the left." i'm some guy with an opinion and a computer, just like you. i'd appreciate it if you didn't take your anger issues out on me.
Another urgent message from Team Parasite!
Thumbs up from me, Dar. I'm one of what appears to be a total of 12 people in North America who has no strong feelings about Ms. Palin one way or the other. What I definitely like about her, though, is that she irritates all the "correct" people. I agree it'll be worth it just to watch the NSFW version show how crazy she can drive our alleged intellectual superiors
“Anger issues?”
Now if only we could see a movie about the Duke LaCrosse Hoax!
or whatever it is that causes you to regard a complete stranger with divergent political opinions as a member of "team parasite".
Wow, associating Sarah Palin with Jared Loughner. How inciteful. How edgy. How utterly tired and ridiculous. I'm sorry I gave you a page view.
Ex_neocon – I don't think so. Your are not Jewish or an excommunist, are you?
Reckless mouth? You are one of the idiots who cannot tell the difference between Tina Feya satire and the real thing. I doubt you really know much about the subject on which you opine.
i believe that everyone's opinions are affected by outside influences in some way or another. i'm not egotistical enough to exclude myself from that statement, and don't particularly see that as a problem either.
You’re not a stranger to me, for fifty years, I’ve been listening to your “divergent” point of view, you’re a leftist, in the collective…no discussion necessary.
Indeed. Thumbs up.
well, your argument that i'm a "leftist" because i don't agree with your personal point of view is what's known as an argumentative fallacy, and since you've decided to forego logic in this discussion i suppose that does end our conversation.
This is a cut and paste from at least a week ago. Embarrassing.
hee hee- can anyone else hear sense the fear?
it's your idiotic comments that show what you are- a parasite, a leftist. and it is my comments that show that just because you have an opinion and a computer doesn't mean I have to like you- ahhhh how does it feel to relate to how Mrs. Palin has been treated nitwit? sad part is that you probably won't grasp what I am saying because it is obvious you see what you want to see- without weighing out the issues. In other words: it is your way or the highway- ahhh the narcissism in you is obvious- take that from an ex-narcissist who was able to finally step back and take a good look at herself an thank God! I am happier then ever- which I would guess- the only things that make you happy are negative things. And that would be my OPINION.
Awww is the llittle narcissist doing anything he can to get hits on his blogspot?
Quit what? The Senate? Because he took the office of the President, not a spot on an Alaska-based reality television show.
kathleen i wish i had a response for you but i wouldn't even know where to begin.
I think that's an excellent take-away from the Halcro article but I think there is something else going on there. A lot of politicians have a vast memory for specific details, not only in terms of policies but I've heard it said of more than one popular politician (including Bill Clinton) that they could meet a donor once and then at further meetings ask about their wife and kids by name to connect with them. A lot of politicians, like Halcro, are factoid machines. As someone that's not as good with names and details as the gist of events and information, I think the issue is that Palin thinks in sweeping themes rather than detailed factoids, and there is really nothing wrong with that.
It might be useful to look at the InQ "inquiry modes" which represent the different ways that people think and solve problems. To me Sarah Palin talks like an Idealist and a Synthesist and such people tend to (as an Idealist) talk in sweeping big-picture terms rather than details and (as a Synthesist) talk about ideas as a tangled ball without a clear beginning and end that sometimes confuses people. Many standard politicians are Analysts, Pragmatists, and Realists and simply think about problems differently, but that doesn't make their way of thinking or solving problems better or more successful. I'd love to see Sarah Palin's score on an InQ test (there was a short version in Reader's Digest in the 1990s).
Further, so are a lot of mainstream media people. And coming from the New York City metro area, I can tell you with certainty that there is an assumption that articulate, precise, factoid-filled, and fast speaking is assumed to be a sign of intelligence while slower, less precise, and more homespun speaking is assumed to be a sign of stupidity, to the point where the knee-jerk reaction is to assume that anyone who speaks more slowly or less academically than a person from New York City or LA is of a lesser intellect. And that bleeds into the mainstream media reporting about Palin, where they are testing her against a set of criteria that has little to do with an ability to govern.
In fact, I would argue that many of the questions that the mainstream media asked Palin (or Trump or Cain, for that matter) and that they didn't like her answers for were designed to be easily answered by stock politicians in the mold of Barack Obama and Joe Biden — highly educated policy wonks from big cities and with a law degree.
For example, they asked Palin what newspapers she reads. To an Upper West Side New York City liberal, that's a great question because you can tell a lot about a New Yorker by whether they read The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal (left and right), the NY Post, or the NY Daily News (left and right, but lower class). In Boston, you have the Globe and Herald (left and right). In DC, you have the Post and Times (left and right). Heck, even Pittsburgh has the Post-Gazette and the Tribune-Review (left and right). Almost anywhere else in the United States? There is only one (provincial, of course) newspaper and given newspaper circulation, most people are reading their news on the web and not from one paper, anyway.
So that's an old-fashioned big-city question that Obama or Biden or Clinton could answer but someone from anywhere else? Not so much. And to believe that Sarah Palin couldn't rather than wouldn't answer the question is to believe that she is so stupid, she couldn't even name an Alaskan paper just to get Couric off of her back.
Of course conservatives also have the liability that any newspaper they mention, unless it's a right leaning one that the mainstream media won't approve of, is likely to have endorse the other ticket. And, of course, they could always play gotcha-games by asking about specific articles, something they might do in a hostile interview with a Republican but not in a friendly interview with a Democrat.
Another example is in the terminology gotcha questions and "Bush Doctrine" or (with Herman Cain) "Right of Return". I still have no idea what the "Bush Doctrine" is and the "Right of Return isn't so complicated that a person couldn't come up to speed on it in an hour or two.
Another example are the legal decision gotcha question, tailor made for lawyers like Barack Obama or Joe Biden. Do we need more lawyers in politics, who give carefully crafted and misleading legalese answers to questions (and bring into question what the meaning of "is" is)? I don't think so. And the reporters are so steeped in the typical political answers that they don't even understand common-sense non-legal answers when it hits them in the head.
Donald Trump was asked about the Right to Privacy in the Constitution. He said it was in the Constitution. In a non-legal sense, Trump was correct. The Constitution prohibits unwarranted search and seizure and the freedom to practice one's religion, which implies some protection of privacy. When the press explained they were asking because it involved abortion, justified by the lawyers on the Supreme Court as a matter of "privacy", they laughed that Trump seemed confused by the connection. Trumps reaction was a normal common-sense reaction that totally misses policy wonks and lawyers. The two have nothing to do with each other, except in the diseased mind of lawyers on the Supreme Court looking for a justification to make a political decision.
In all of these cases, the only think wrong with the answer is that it's not the answer that the press expects their idea of a President (not coincidentally, someone just like Barack Obama) to be able to answer and that needs to be the line of attack against it. Why does a President need to know all of these things? Perhaps Herman Cain's refusal to answer about things he's not fully informed about will bring this issue to the front.
On the other hand, ask someone like Joe Biden or Barack Obama about the non-government jobs they've had, how well they understand the gas and oil industry or running a company, and so on, and how do you think their answers would compare to a Sarah Palin, Herman Cain, or Donald Trump? They'd look just as stupid as they claim Palin looked because of the newspaper answer or Cain was with the Right of Return answer because they have no answers for those questions, which is why the press didn't and won't ask them. In other words, the press is loading the deck in favor of the type of candidate they want. Ask a different set of questions and Palin, Cain, and Trump would shine and people like Obama, Clinton, and Biden would look like idiots with no experience or knowledge.
I do believe we've found a new entry to submit to the Museum of Bad Art!
The left has (or Palin's enemies have, if you prefer) a real problem with the distinction between "wouldn't" and "couldn't" when it comes to think like Palin now answering Couric about the newspapers she reads and finishing her term as governor. Those two words do not mean the same thing. If Palin is so incompetent, how did she manage to knock off Murkowski for governor and defeat the oil industry on two separate issues? If she's incompetent and has something to hide, why did she let documentary producer Elan Frank follow her around for three days and never once ask him to turn off his camera, which surprised him? The problem is that too much evidence does not fit the caricature. Heck, even Anne Kilkenny's "Letter from Wasilla", written by one of Palin's local enemies that actually knows here, which was widely circulated by Palin's enemies during the election, says, in a paragraph all it's own, "She's smart." Why do you think that is?
To be honest, there are a few things that do concern me about Sarah Palin, even though I supported her before McCain even picked her, but I keep looking for evidence that she's the monster her enemies portray her as and keep finding something very different, especially when I look at information from Alaska from before McCain picked her. Is she perfect? Of course not. And the Real Sarah Palin I see would probably disappoint some die-hard conservatives (some of whom where her enemies before McCain picked her).
What amazes me is that some of the most outspoken GOP contributors whom I had respected in the past including, Krauthammer are attacking Palin.
Lost respect, needless to say.
I've known a LOT of libs who went conservative, but I've never known a conservative that went lib.
If you think about it, that says a quite a bit about libs' views on the issues. What was that famous Churchill quote, again?
No, because he didn't have the class to quit the job he stopped doing while he ran. While he ran he had no time for his Chicago job & his voters were disenfranchised. If he had quit another senator would have been chosen to represent his district, but Obama couldn't give up the paycheck & guarantee of a job if he lost. Most politicians do this (they are politicians), Sarah did the right thing for Alaska & herself. So far I haven't seen O'bama do the right thing for anyone at anytime
Hey 'genius', nobody lashes at Palin, shes commiting 'selflashing' with every word and action! She is a complete obliviosu moron who 'wrote' two books before she..read one, who thinks Liberty bell is on..Wall Street and Gettysburg address is where …White House is! She also wants FBI to investigate whos buried in..Grants tomb!(she belives is…Elvis!). She also thinks Roe vs Wade is a..boxing match!(you see, not only famous comedians can be funny, even broke ones are!!) As you see, shes a walking -talking comedy material machine and you are a nincompoop, same with the ones that agree with you!
Take comfort in the fact that you have successfully warned the rest of us against making the same mistake.
Excellent posts all. Wish I could give you more +'s.
I thought we already covered this one……
….and ignoring it so the claim can be repeated later is a standard progressive tactic.
That's a fantastic analysis, and it opens my eyes to a lot of the underlying assumptions causing the peculiar behaviors of the MSM that I never quite caught before. Thanks for posting this!
“If you're not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you're not a conservative at forty you have no brain.”
Now if only the Libs I know would go Conservative…
The one-sidedness of it is really appalling. During the Presidential campaigns the news reporting was so slanted that it became easy to see how tyrants and dictators could climb to power on the votes of the people. I'm not comparing Obama to a tyrant, necessarily, but "worship" really is not too strong a term to describe the media coverage of his campaign. There have been stretches of time when I've not really been paying attention to Conservative blogs and talk radio, so all I was getting was the background noise of the MSM, and after a while you start to wonder if maybe you're the one who's been wrong all along – Leftism is just culturally assumed, and reinforced by the news and entertainment industries. And this is living in the U.S.! Granted, I've always lived in liberal states, but still… I can only imagine how distorted the images of Bush and Palin are outside the U.S….
Still just phoning it in, eh?
….and another copy'n'paste screed.
All of the GOPers that are attacking Palin are Jews. Jews are at war with Palin. At the heart of this war is Jewish hatred of common whites.
"Since none of those celebrities were born with a shame-gene…"
One aspect of the mental disease of liberalism is the liberal's inability to express or feel shame.
Not needed. Unlike the rubes who rewrite Wiki to cover for the crimes and history of Ohammed. Oh and not to mention the bogus Factcheck.org, Conservatives stand on their past records. Liberals falsify their past records.
Palin/West 2012?
Big part of the BIG lie that dipsh!ts keep repeating she went from Governor to TV. Didn't happen. She went from Governor to Running a Campaign with the loser McCain then writing a book then going into TV. You clowns make sh!t up so much no wonder you just repeat the same few lies. If you had to repeat them all your heads would cave in. And many have tried. Gravity works on the skull when there is just air to support the cranium.
Your name says you hate Liberals.
or to grasp any tangible reality whatsoever.
As I see it, Sarah has what it takes, she says what she believes and believes what she says. She is the female equivalence too Rep. Allen West. If she chooses to run, I will vote her.
Nope – unlike stewart, fey, and the other lying Palin bashers, her supporters have no need to "rewrite" anything.
That is a wonderful post. If I could I would give you five thumbs up.
"I can only imagine how distorted the images of Bush and Palin are outside the U.S…."
We get virtually all the bad without any chance of getting any of the good from Fox News or other sources. Then add touring American celebrities trying to sell their latest product proving how hip they are by trashing them to prove their lefty credentials to our mostly left leaning (or overly polite) TV hosts.
I know exactly what you mean, I see it all the time.
That's my dream ticket, in either order : Palin and West
I think Sarah Palin is brilliant! And so do many others.
In 2008, Dumbama got 69 million votes. Sarah, a virtual unknown, got 59 million votes. I, and many people I know, did not want to vote for Juan McShame. We held our noses and voted for Sarah Palin. Of the 59 millon votes, Juan McShame MAY have gotten 10 or 12. I read his obnoxious, ugly daughter didn't even vote for him, but for Dumbama.
And by the way, Dumbama and Moocherella (AKA Dumb and Dumber) should move out of the White House a few days early in Jan 2013 so it can be properly fumigated!!!!
same thing with LBJ in 1960 and Lieberman in 2000.
