Cyndi Lauper: Bush a ‘Criminal,’ Evangelism ‘Bullsh*t’ (NSFW)
by John Nolte—–
About ten years ago or so I saw Cyndi Lauper live when she opened for Tina Turner. She was very pregnant at the time and sang every one of her hits except the one her fans most wanted to hear, ”Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” The crowd was waiting for it, ready to explode and dance and sing along.
Not only did Lauper not sing it, she got snotty with the audience when they called out for it. At the end of her set she said, “Nope, not gonna sing it,” and walked off.
For a decade I’ve waited to get that off my chest.

She's still alive?! Who knew?
She's about as relevant as Boy George. LOL
I never realized how moronic she is. Too much she-bopping, I guess.
just more moronic ramblings from the "imbeciligensia"
Do these leftists not understand that they are evangelizing, too? Whether it's political or religious, doesn't matter. Just another reason for entertainers to stick to entertaining people. I liked her music at one time, but guess what? It's not timeless and she just alienated about half the people who still thought she was relevant. Buh bye!
I think about 3/4 of the way through, Lauper actually had one coherent sentence. Since I was laughing at Lauper and her sycophant interviewer all through this video, I'll be charitable and assume this "performance" was a comedy sketch.
Not surprising. She's a 100% died-in-the-wool Greenwich Village bohemian New Yorker who works in the music industry. What other opinions would you expect her to have?
I thought she was brilliant in "Vibes," though…
I've got an aunt that talks crazy like that.
She's the mother of Lady Gaga. The father was a issue of Post Modern Design
@Grant175: "She's about as relevant as Boy George. LOL"
I thought she was Boy George!!!
Laura Ingraham has it right: Shut up and Sing!
As seemingly meaningless as this clip first appears, it's a pretty good microcosm of how lefties (try to) think. Her drug-addled mind can't even recall "those other two" until she finally has a moment of clarity and remembers "that George Bush" guy. For her to accuse Bush with generalities like going on TV and spewing hate (real specific there), it's ironic that this entire clip is seeping with hatred for conservatives. Throw a little New York arrogance in there too for good measure …
This is no surprise. Lauper has literally taken over for Bette Midler on the gay scene so she has to keep up with the usual tripe: Bush = evil, gays should marry, there aren't enough bath houses for anonymous gay sex in NY so the government should pay for it,.. etc. Well… honestly I'm not sure on her stance for more gay bath houses, but it wouldn't phase me if she thought that.
She plays to her (new) audience since her original one left over 20 years ago.
Not a woman known for her brains or ability to think analytically, so I really don't think anything she has to say is worth listening to. What she has to sing is usually worth listening to, but if she keeps spewing garbage out of that same mouth she sings with I won't be able to continue to enjoy the singing that comes out of it.
Still stuck on stupid.
How the mighty of professional wrestling have fallen.
We're related!
According to IMDB: "Sister Elen Lauper ran for the mayorship of Phoenix, and is a member of the Socialist Workers Party, a radical-leftist political group." And is a lesbian.
I think I see a pattern here…
And another mostly-forgotten celebrity tries to be relevant.
Plus you'd think she'd want to please her fans by singing that song. You were totally gypped, Mr. Nolte.
I knew it!
I'd be interested to know what "hate" Bush was spewing in his speeches. I must have missed those events that she evidently paid close attention to….or made up in her own head.
I was interested in her new album-"Memphis Blues", I heard some cuts, sounded good, but now no dice, aint gonna get it! We can penalize these morons at the box office, or at the cash register. When will they learn to shut-up and sing?
"imbeciligensia" i like it!
her career peaked as Ira's ex on Mad About You. she was a hoot in that role, but downhill ever since…
Was Captain Lou at the show?
This is what happens when you don't read or listen to anything other then the standard Hollywood lefty Kool-Aid.
Don't worry she will on an informercial plugging the "Ab-Blaster", selling insurance or how to sell real estate with no money down very soon folks.
Back in the day she really should have ponied up the bucks for the lead-free hair dye…
I do not care what a moron that has not be relevant since 1986 has to say. Cyndi Lauper should reunite with Captain Lou Albano and do the world a favor!
she simply wanted to be in the news, as no one pays attention to her anymore…
Anybody else remember how the male lead in "Just One of the Guys" mispronounces Cindy Lau-per's name right before the female lead proves to him that she's a girl? For some reason, 25 years later and I every time I hear her name (which isn't much mind you) and that guy's pronounciation pops immediately into my head. Incidentally, the female lead's proof of gender was very convincing.
There are plenty of things I love about the 80s. Lauper is definitely not one of them.
I was going to buy some expensive tickets for her show in Austin next month, if finances allowed. I won't now. It isn't a boycott–I don't really do those. But if I spend a lot of money on a show, I want to have fun, dammit! She's now made that difficult, so why take a chance?
Did George Bush spew hatred towards New Yorkers? Just ONCE, I would like to see one of these sycophantic interviewers ask for examples of the nonsense these people spew. LOL.
Honestly…who cares what a crusty, socialist pop-tart like Lauper has to say. Of anything, idiots like her b*tching about Christianity probably brings in more Christian converts more than it does people turning away from it.
The brothers of Evil are ignorance & stupidity… the armed masses of their discontent.
When did Lauper morph into Dolly with no brains???
Here I go, so just wail and gnash away……
I find absolutely nothing wrong with what this video, THE PORTION WE HAVE BEEN SHOWN, (which is going to be a mantra around here for a long time after the Sherrod sike video)
Cindi may be gay…..I don't know. She has always been outspoken. So have I. She had some things to say in that piece that I totally agree with. Bush was no angel. His administration were no Reaganites. They spent like drunk sailors too. They took us into war on a, ummm, sketchy pretext. I won't say Iraq isn't better off for it, but was it worth the limbs and lives of American soldiers….they will have to answer that. It is not my question to answer.
Bush monetary policies were not any less power driven than Obama's. Bush just worshiped the God of big capitalism….a God who has not earned much more of my respect than Obama's God of big gov't. Both have skrud the public, abused power, and usurped public trust for decades.
Anyone want to put Wall Street up as a shining example of why Cindi is wrong?
K Street?
Congress under Clinton, Newt, Bush, Pelosi, Obama?
She's on solid ground as far as I'm concerned. She may not have the perfect answer to life, the universe and everything, but neither do I. But compared to some of the OUTRAGEOUS, OFF THE CHARTS statements by celebs I've seen here….she doesn't come close to the loon factor.
And if you notice she did NOT TRY TO SPEAK for a whole class of people. She spoke for herself, her beliefs, her God, and her vision of the way things are supposed to be.
I frankly agree with her on her statements about religious extremists. I do not want this gov't. But I sure as hell don't want a gov't that claims to have a corner on God's endorsements of their policies….EVER.
So I got nothing to say bad about this piece. Some points can be argued but as a "demonstration" of a hollywood person trying to micro-mange MY life….she didn't say one word about what I should do or think. She only talked about what SHE thought.
THAT WOULD BE CALLED AN OPINION. AND SHE'S AS ENTITLED TO ONE AS YOU AND I ARE.
Ok…….let the pelting begin, lol.
((((yawn)))))
Cindy who?
Yet another desperate plea for attention from a has been. How very sad.
I know liberals who also make these vague accusations of hatred against this or that conservative. I make a point of asking quite calmly to give me an example. Certainly no decent person would make such a harsh accusation without some evidence. Certainly if this person said such hateful things, it must have made an indelible impression on your memory. Give me one example.
After the bewildered and blank stare, I get the same nonsensical response, well uhm I don't know what they said, I just know they're racist, hateful blah, blah, blah…
Memo to Cyndi: Bush sent far more money to Africa to fight AIDS than Clinton. Is that your idea of hatred?
Regardless of what you or she think of Bush, he never went on television and spoke "unabashed hatred." She's either lying or deluded. Neither reflects well on her.
Shut-up and sing! On second thought, just shut-up!
Unless they wheeled his coffin onto the stage, I doubt Captain Lou was there.
I thought they were the same person.
Actually I voted for Bush. And what sounds like unabashed hate to some, is music to others' ears. It's a matter of interpretation.
Some folks believe Bush told the truth about WMDs
Some don't
Those are STILL OPINIONS. Unprovable, btw, but requiring no proof. My point was she stated HER REACTION to what SHE PERCEIVED as unabashed hate. I state MY REACTION to what I PERCEIVE as Obama's unabashed hate of America. Neither of us is absolutely right or wrong. Each of us HEARD what we HEARD the way we HEARD it.
And in Cindi's case, she clearly says "When I heard….." she isn't lobbying…she's just stating her reaction to what she heard. It sounded like hate to her. Pelosi sounds arrogant to me. Does that make it a truth? No. It's my opinion.
My only point was that Cindi isn't recruiting. She's testifying. She's talking about Cindi. There's nothing wrong with that. It's called free speech. But compared to Barafolo and other "celebrities" who have had pieces written about their political statements…..this didn't meet their muster, imo. And it is just my opinion.
The most ridiculous thing about that interview, again imo, was the sycophantic interviewer who when not finishing her sentences for her, was slavering and "uh huhing" her on. Encouraging her to go farther, say more, use extreme language.
Like I said….this is all opinion. But in my opinion this one's a poor cousin to the other articles and statements made by celebs about politics. Don't make my muster as a propaganda queen. Just a strongly liberal person with issues. And as a strongly conservative person, I have some pretty serious issues with gov't from Reagan forward. They are none of them all that great.
I'm sick of having to settle for MOSTLY HARMLESS as the best we'll ever get from gov't. But given the wide gulf between so many voters on so many issues….that may be all we can reasonably expect.
When did political dissent become hate? I mean, I am no big fan of GWB however I don't remember him coming out and just bellowing hatred towards anyone. It would have helped Cindy's argument if she could have presented a clear example of Bush's hatred. Anything. I think that our political discourse has become one of "if you disagree with me, I will label you a hater or bigot" and that is the biggest disappointment of all.
Another washed up "D" lister trying to regain some relvancy. Why are these useless wastes of carbon still allowed to be in front of a camera. With her intellect she should be pushing a cart down Hollywood Blvd muttering to her invisible cats.
I just re-read my post….seems I'm in a mood today. Oh well.
In related news, Debbie Gibson says there were no WMDs, and Tiffany thinks 9/11 was an inside job.
Girls just want to have fun. Old leftard hags? Not so much.
How often do you pull her out from under the stairs to hose her down? Cyndi, not your aunt.
Bush didn't lie about WMD's. That's the truth. He didn't lie. Was the information he was given accurate? No. But that doesn't mean he lied. Did he 'tell the truth'. Yes. He told us what was in the intelligence reports. He didn't even say "Saddam has WMDs", he started everything with "intelligence reports tell us …" That's as truthful as you can get.
As has been said many times, people are entitled to their own opinions NOT their own facts.
Cyndi Lauper is ill informed. It's always good to see someone behave in such a deluded fashion. What's sad is that no one will actually inform her. No one she'll listen to. The messengers from the right have been demonized by a Democratic party that has become a religion to so many, particularly those in the entertainment industry. To challenge their wrongful assertions, and even to correct statements that are clearly wrong, is to challenge their faith and they get very emotional about it.
sadly shaking head…
et tu Cyndi?
What the hell is she talking about? Seriously. Little help. Who is "they" and what is a "fire sale" and how were gays a part of this "fire sale"?
So confused…
Oh and Cyndi–nice wig. Not!
Dude, Boy George is seriously relevant! To the cops.
I went to a Beach Boys concert years ago. Mike Love got all snotty and wouldn't sing California Girls (the song the audience really, really wanted to hear). You'd think a singer would want to please the fans.
I remember Cyndi Lauper for two things: She won the best new artist Grammy (beating out Madonna) and she sang the theme song for PeeWee's Playhouse. I kinda figured she was a moonbat.
We will agree on one thing–this isn't nearly as nasty as a lot of the celebrity rants posted here. I'm a fan of Ms. Lauper's, so if she had to disappoint me with a political rant, I guess I prefer this one to what she could have delivered.
Actually, two things–the interviewer was indeed an embarrassment. When Cyndi says Bush spoke "unabashed hatred" on TV, the interviewer doesn't ask her what she's talking about; instead, she breathily whispers, "That's true!" Pathetic.
It all makes perfect sense now.
Her songs that were hits were really good 80's tunes. Her videos for those songs are absolutely hysterical (talk about 80's 'creativity') though. They're on youtube, so if you ever want a laugh about the 'old days', check them out.
I went to a Jane's Addiction concert and they didn't play "Jane Says…". They did play their one actual chart hit "Been Caught Stealin'" so I don't know why they didn't play the song that pretty much put them on the map on the alternative scene. Perry Farrell told an interviewer that they only played the song if they really liked the audience. I guess they didn't like us. So I didn't buy anymore of their music. C'est la vie.
She told Johnny Carson that she really wishes she had the powers she had in Vibes so she could see how that movie was going to kill her career.
Johnny laughed his ass off.
Oh. Well there ya go: insanity runs in the family.
Lots of artists don't want to play their biggest hit if they feel they've become too identified with it at the expense of their other work. Beastie Boys haven't played "Fight for Your Right to Party" in decades. Pearl Jam still plays "Alive," but not at every show. I've occasionally been annoyed by this, too, but I think it's understandable. Still no excuse for getting snotty with the audience.
I'd rather hear "Money Changes Everything," "All Through the Night," "Time After Time," "Change of Heart," or anything she did with Blue Angel over "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" anyway.
MM,
Look up the word FACT. It don't mean what you think it means.
FACT: Nobody can ever know what George W Bush THOUGHT was in Iraq or the reasons why he thought it.
FACT: We went to war in Iraq. We caught Saddam. We executed Saddam.
OPINION: Is Iraq is better off? THAT rather depends on whether you get blown to hell and gone shopping for dinner or not.
FACT: We cannot change any of the above.
Who's Cindi Lauper?
It sounds like she used to be a singer.
The fact is he did not lie. He told us what was in the intelligence reports and never ever said he had incontrovertible proof. He always referred to his information as 'intelligence'. That's a fact by any definition of the word.
As far as not knowing what Bush "thought" when we went in — that's neither here nor there. He did not lie to us. He told us what was in the intelligence reports and that's it. It doesn't matter what he thought about the truth when he relayed it to us. He told us the truth about what was in the intelligence reports. Fact.
Bruce Springsteen always plays "Born to Run" in concert. It's about the only thing he does currently that I respect him for. He may change it up, make it an acoustic ballad, but he plays it. I think that shows respect for the audience that brought the performer to the show in the first place.
Nice voice. Enjoy "True Colors" to this very day. Complete moron.
Hey, it's Old Lady Gaga!
True. Google "PEPFAR" sometime, Cyn.
Cindi's latest album, "Girls Just Wanna Blame Bush!"
Also, Who cares??
She must be referring to flaming queers.
Won't pelt. Like I said earlier, she's deeply involved in a social/cultural milieu in which opinions like hers are commonplace if not actually required for membership. If anyone is a Greenwich Village hothouse flower, it's Cyndi Lauper. At least she doesn't present herself as miserable, perpetually angry leftist woman like Janeane Garofalo. I have a feeling Cyndi doesn't take herself THAT seriously.
Haha. Nice pun.
I take it you have no idea what she is talking about either…
My husband has been to a couple of Springsteen concerts and I guess the man really works hard to please the audience. He does high intensity shows that last about 3 hours and he always plays at least a few big hits. He may have flaky politics, but he is a classy performer.
I saw a clip with Sharon Osborn when she and Lauper were on Celebrity Apprentice and Osborn said Lauper was "bat**it crazy." Think about it– the woman who is married to Ozzy Osbourn thinks Lauper is crazy. Pretty much all you need to know right there.
Hey, I spent my young adult years as a Bohemian artist in the Village. I loved it and it didn't warp my brain. Lauper was just dumb to begin with no matter where she grew up.
Another dumb cleb talking crap. Nothing new.
Over the years I've developed a lot of respect for Cindi as a human being. We have our points of agreement and disagreement, but I agree with you….I don't think she thinks her opinion is any more or less valid than anyone else's.
Cindi seems to be good people of a liberal bent. That said, I don't see in her life where she is extreme on many things….maybe I just don't know of them. Just as Angelina Jolie is complex, seemingly very liberal on some things and yet conservative on others, so too is Lauper.
I just don't see her fitting the mold of this thread's "intent" which seems to be to out outrageous liberals like Garafolo. But hey, it's not like we hang out so I don't really know her as a person. Just more of a feeling I get.
It's important that we know what celebrities and others we may look up to really think. I listened to some of Cindi's music in the 80s, never considered her someone I'd pay to see, but she had her place. Funny how she catches herself in her own trap of speaking hateful of others. I tend not to trust people that do that. And though she insulted Christians in this interview, I wish her guidance that she can get to the core of her hateful nature.
It was her early swerve into pro-wrestling advocacy that convinced me of her intellectual bona fides.
Ozzy Osborne speaks more coherently then this ….this…..ahhh…..what was I saying?…….SHARON!……
I never expected Cindi to be smart, though I would want her to be. And I never expected her to be intelligent either, but hopefully.
And I never expected her to be sensible, much less either Conservative or middle-of-the-road.
I am not at all disappointed.
I did, however, expect her to sing her most popular song. for that, she's an idiot. All the rest is just predictable fluff.
Not only did Lauper not sing it, she got snotty with the audience when they called out for it. At the end of her set she said, “Nope, not gonna sing it,” and walked off.
John, if she didn't sing this one, you probably should have started yelling for Cyndi to warble "The Goonies 'R Good Enough". For a woman of the left, you really couldn't be much more of a hypocritical sellout to capitalism than trying to squeeze that film name into a song (not that the song wasn't a hit at the time, but geez, talking about tossing away your artistic integrity for a few more Hollywood $$$…)
I used to be a huge Lauper fan. Wow, she really went bat-shit crazy.
The stories are legendary that she is a huge bitch in person. They say that the day the bird crapped in her mouth was a day of celebration for everyone who has ever had an encounter with her.
What a shame.
But let's face it. She really was just a product of the 80's. She was not able to adapt her style or remain relevant, unlike the much less talented Madonna who came along at the same time.
I'm just sorry to know Lauper is an idiot as well.
Heh. Very nice.
LOL. She's in a position to recognize bat**it crazy when she sees it. An expert.
Personally, I always thought of Cyndi Lauper's music as the equivalent of the bull patties she refers to in the title of this article.
So this Has-Been finally shows her True Colors….
But Boy George looks much prettier, especially when he is scraping the barnacles off his dinghy.
don't you ever think it would be good to just turn off the tv, the radio and forget these stupid people?
"We New Yawkers….blah blah blah….Bush is EVIL….blah blah blah." Yep, she's a libtard. The amusing part is her self-delusional belief that anyone cares.
what's his crime, you dumbass? put down the pipe, the wineglass, whatever it is you are on woman. Dont OD.
Wait! You said she sang every one of her hits, but then you said she didn't sing "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." So did she sing or not, because except for "Girls . . .," I don't know of any other hits. Seriously, she's just another leftwing elitist spouting off about things she absolutely knows nothing about.
You must have a strong brain. Good for you. A Bohemian who thinks for herself is a true Bohemian.
you're right, sucks to want to see music performed and get an infomercial for Obama
I'm surprised she hasn't learned braille by now.
Imbecilgensia is a great word! Would be a great Movie title as well! Idiocracy was a great movie!
speak hate? What is she talking about? Good lord. I've just about had it up to my eyeballs with all these liberal loons. It's just a joke. It is amusing.
I would expect her to at least have an opinion that partially makes sense rather than just a bunch of pseudo-jibberish. I can't even tell what she's talking about.
She's in her 80s now, right? She was around when "professional" wrestling made a comeback, many moons ago. She was one of the promoters.
She just never learned how to sing. How sad.
Finally! I am always wondering what she thinking…
Just one word for what is coming from the woman's mouth- vomit!
What an irritating, incoherent mess she's become. You need to work on that inner rage some, Cyndi – I know you'll never have a future career other than performing at gay pride fests, but you had a good ride for a few years!
Luaper is and always have been a dust head. Soon as she got stupid when she got famous, I never listen to her or her crap.
What is it about about irritating and useless pop culture icons?
I can't decide if I'm more shocked to learn she is able to think or at the crap she comes up with when she does.
That stupid song made her career. Show some gratitude to your fans Cyndi, ya snob! And stfu about politics and religion because you don't know enough about either.
Okay. I just wasted 2:42 of my life that I'll never get back!
Hey Ms. No-Longer-Relevant: you had a couple of hit songs about 20-leven years ago. Now, you've smoked one too many of those left-handed cigarettes. That whole meandering pile of steaming pig-dung that just spewed from your oral cavity .. I mean .. WHAT were you talking about?! And as to "YOUR" god .. it's somewhere between 0BowMao and yourself!
lmao!
I look back fondly on Lauper's music. I won't let the reality of her character sully my memories of dancing around in my Underoos to her music as a child.
Maybe too much Botox, or the needle went a little too deep.
I propose a name change (or at least AKA): instead of Big Hollywood we can call it Big Imbeciligensia.
Here's you brain on drugs….
She still can't hold a coherent conversation.
If she was really
as smart as she thinks she is,
she would cash in some of her "music royalties"
and go back to school
to learn proper grammar.
While you are blaming Bush,
for every wrinkle in your "know-it-all", little life-
why not "Thank" him,
for keeping an airplane,
from crashing into your NYC apartment
and snuffing out the lives of your family ?
All these morons
are bursting at the seams with untold anger-
it's such a cheap & easy thing,
to unload it all on George Bush.
Reality check-
YOU are to blame for your own baggage,
TAKE RESPONSIBILITY !
Ignorant, self-serving nitwits-
these people live in their own heads-
damn, if anything should cloud their sanctimonious thoughts !
Everything they accuse "the others" of-
THEY ARE THEMSELVES !
They misdirect their own self-hate at others-
Yes, Cindy,
somewhere above,
it's all being recorded.
Even you-
can't escape your own warped truth !
Just curious-
Does anyone know
how many times Ms. Lauper
has travelled abroad to entertain
our hard working troops,
that protect her dizzy, little, righteous brain,
without flinching ?
Didn't think so…………..
Sorry. This is not really news. Cyndi Lauper said something stupid. It's a "dog bites man" story. It's like saying "John Kerry did something arrogant," or "Michael Moore singlehandedly closed down a buffet."
what was she smoking?
Her opinions are important to us because…
Nice. Standard issue progressive loon. Say what you really dislike about the opposition and then become it. Bush spoke hate about gay marriage. "Pure HATE!", she says, then proceeds to spew more hate in the next two minutes that W did in eight years. Folks, the woman was held back in Arts school, so she dropped out. I didn't know you could be held back in Arts school. Did she flunk "Major 7th Chords 101?" Pathetic.
Wait.. Who is Cyndi Lauper and why do we care?
Tell me why anyone would put a microphone in front of her and ask for her deep thoughts about the world scene.
Gotta toe that moronic fake Hollywood line, so your phony friends don't disown you. You know the Hollyweirders "do as I say, not as I do" philosophy. Talk about a bunch of morally bankrupt pinheads! Cyndi Slopper…I forgot she was even around.
She blew all her money on the Sandwich of the Month Club, and her subscription seems to have run out about six months ago.
two ways to spot a knothead liberal, one, blame bush, who cares how long he's been out of office, and two.. call somebody a racist… works everytime, except that it's getting so old, it doesn't mean anything…
you'll see her hyping "reverse morgage" or "shamwows"
AHHHHH the no talent thing from the 80's lives!
Hey John, that's what you get for going to a Tina Turner concert with cyndi leper as an opening act.
If you paid more than $5 bucks for the ticket…………………………..you were had, like a girl who wanted to have fun.
to be fair, she is being slightly 'sherroded' here. the interview was about her involvement in the gay rights movement. in that context, it's not very suprising that she was not a (we have to amend the constitution to prevent gay citizens from marrying) bush fan… nor is it a big shock that she would not have a positive take on the kind of churches who base their fundraising on stoking anti-gay bias. maybe she's not the best informed or most articulate political spokesperson, but her heart is in the right place. as she says, she "stands up for her own."
as for 'girls wanna have fun', she's been singing that song for some 20 years… reggae version..acoustic version… if, on one night, she just didn't feel like performing it for the gazillionth time, i can't really fault her for that. she has a whole other catalogue from which to choose. she is one of the all-time great pop/rock singers. her last dance music album is inventive and a lot of fun, her 'at last' covers-of-standards cd is sublime, and her latest cd is currently number one on the blues charts…not bad for someone who is supposedly some 80's relic. she's moved on musically…as have most of her fans. let it go, nolte.
Fine Lauper, but if you're going to bash religion don't be a coward. Evangelists won't fight back.
If you're going to bash Evangelism, then you have to bash Judaism, and call Islam Bullsh*t too, or you're just another run of the mill Christian bigot. Which is what you really are Lauper.
Doesn't anybody remember she did the vocal in the "Pee-Wee Herman Theme" ?
I was completely entertained with that…….. I really was…..it was a fun crazy show. Notwithstanding.
I never liked "True Colors".
Right on gwar5
It's almost like she was trying to speak in code so only Lefties in the know could understand: "They" "those other two" "got charged" "they were selling" "a fire sale" "let them do that" "and they did" "and then this guy goes in" "but it's not his fault" "it's the other two" "the criminals" "who never got charged" "how upsetting it was" "He would go on tv" "and speak hate" "unabashed hatred". It just goes on like this for half the clip until she finally makes her first semi-coherent yet ridiculous point.
And I should care what this 80's has-been thinks or says because??? Crickets chirping.
Twit….
Well, there's another one that's off my list.
How about one freakin' substantiated example, Cyndi. Just ONE, ya damn dope!
Read a book!
Better yet, read the freakin' Constitution!
Ha…
It's amazing how we have to compartmentalize!
Who knew? Who cares? LoL
Cyndi Lauper should take the advice of Abraham Lincoln. "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt".
All that hate sure makes her look ugly(uglier). Check out her face at around 2:40. That's the kind of face that nightmares are made of.
I would like these people state a fact once in a while. What hatred? Tell me please. What evangelic bullsh!t? Could you please be more specific for once?
This goes out to the whiny Cyndi Lauper fanboy – you, and Ms. Lauper are most definitely entitled to your own opinions (and I seriously hate it when people point this out – yes, I know, don't need morons like you pointing it out). But (as you lefties love to say) you aren't entitled to your own facts. Think about that next time you say that Bush spewed "unabashed hatred".
ROTFLMAO
"I'll be charitable and assume this "performance" was a comedy sketch. "
Mother Theresa was never as "generous" as you are just now!
Sadaam Hussein had WMD's . They shells and missle casings with Saren gas were hidden among conventional arms. Every 500th shell would be NErve gas. It was how he was avoiding the inspectors. Despite that fact that is is determined to be the case the left makes silly claims like the cannisters were old anyways.
There is no arguing this.
If you want to take that tack then I ask for consistency. What was your reaction to removing Sadaam from Kuwait in GW1? What was your reation to instituion of the No Fly zones in Iraq after the war?
Where you in protest to the numerous deaths of innocent Iraqis in enforcing the No Fly zone? How do you justify the fact that more innocent Iraquis were killed by stray missiles during that 12 year period than all of GW2? Are you in favor of murdering Iraqi's when their is little risk to American soldiers.?
What is your response to the notion that our perceived patrolling of Iraq from Saudi Soil is the number one recruitment tool for Al Queada during the Clinton years as well as leading up to 9/11. As a matter of fact Bin Laden himself left his position as CEO of a contruction company to start Al Quaeda because the Saudi's banished him for criticizing America being allowed to help?
The problem I have with "these" leftist opinions is that they are not "opinions". They are merely vedhicles to shill out their hate. Can you name for me one leftist that has ever even deigned to address these questions? I don't think you can.
And more than that other than getting rid of Sadam how would you have addressed the issue.
Do you really expect me to believe that we should have enforced No Fly zones bombing that country until the Sun starts to expand killing all life on earth. At least the GW plan involved an end to the war, he did not start a war he merely decided we should try to end it.
Individualist,
I personally BELIEVE he did based on the best information I could find, read, gloam, and from agency folks there and in a far better position to know than I. I choose to believe them. That he would use them if he could is proven fact. He did. And you're right….arguing history is fruitless. He did what he did, we did what we did, and folks believe what they believe about all of that.
We none of us can ever KNOW with assurance but we still act today, believe today, and react and respond to things today based on our beliefs of things past. In that we are no different than Lauper. I also believe that condemning or commending folks on the basis of ONE of many of their beliefs is pointless. I would not want to be perceived through a prisim of one set of my beliefs to the exclusion of all others. There is a tendency to do that with these articles.
Benefit of the doubt is a good way to accept without condoning or condemning. Too much judgement these days for my taste. Like too much gov't. Live and let live is a more benign and principled path, IMO.
She realized "having fun" could lead to morning sickness?
John(and the rest of you) lwhat did you expect? Cyndi never expressed a conservative viewpoint on anything. She is a singer and that's all she ever claimed to be. Did any of you ever look to her for intellectual or political guidance? It's not like David Horowitz or Charles Krauthamer started spouting this stuff. There's not one coherent sentence in the interview. As someone who came to his adolescence and early 20's in the 80s and has fond memories of the Rock-N- Wrestling connection, I agree to disagree with Ms Lauper and wish her well. She still looks good(better actually) and maybe one day she will find peace.Thatisall
We do what we must to enjoy the art artists create with the gifts that God gave them, and try darn hard to ignore the rest. What was it that someone once said? "Shut up and sing." This lady should take that advice to heart.
Cindy Lauper's brain must resemble a pinball machine, thoughts deflecting on stray tangents back and forth, back and forth, slowly moving downward, until being unceremoniously dumped into a dark bottom shelf.
She should stick to singing written lyrics and reading a script. She's pretty good at that.
Pt-1
Yeah, it's the title of a good book by Laura Ingraham (Shut Up And Sing). Cyndi should indeed take it to heart.
I'm a huge Eric Clapton, BB King and Beatles fan among many others, of course. I don't know how I'd feel if Clapton were making stupid remarks like Paul McCartney has of late.
Pt-2
BB King, God bless him, was interviewed once on film by the late Isaac Hayes. It was terrific. BB was talking about growing up in the south, at that time and all. There was not one smidgeon of anger or hatred about the man. He spoke with great admiration of his father, who was a sharecropper to a landowner who was a white man; and he spoke of that man and BB's dad being great friends of each other. He just said this in passing and continued on in the conversation, and Isaac didn't raise an eyebrow either; didn't call him on this remark or ask BB how that could possibly be. Best friends of each other? Someone of lesser character might have labeled BB and his dad as "Uncle Toms", or get into some stupid discourse on race but it never happened here. It didn't need to. It's a great interview. I must find it again and view it another time.
Pt-3
But I'm so glad that Eric Clapton, who BB King treats like a son, just makes his music, does his charity work in the most humble fashion, thanks God to still be with us, and does not feel compelled at every turn, to stroke his own ego by speaking out of context, wearing his political opinions on his sleeve. Makes me think he's probably not a lefty, and that makes me happy.
