RACIAL BLACKMAIL: Maxine Waters Hammers NBC Over Minority Hiring

There’s something absurdly satisfying about watching leftists attack other leftists using leftist tactics. NBC is just now discovering that their ObamaVision push last year coupled with their obtuse propaganda arm over at NBC News and MSNBC made them the perfect target for a racial demagogue like Rep. Maxine Waters. NBC bending over when it comes to all things PC and Obama probably had them under the mistaken impression that their appeasement would satisfy Leftist Bullies like Waters, when all it really does is invite more bullying.

Comcast and NBC want to merge. This is a very big deal that will require much government blessing and Waters is using the opportunity to her fullest advantage to push what can only be described as a racist agenda that demands individuals at NBC be hired based on the color of their skin.

Paul Bond at the Hollywood Reporter:

“How many of the executive producers for your 2010 fall lineup are minorities?” [Rep. Waters] asked Paula Madison, executive vp of diversity at NBC Uni.

Sorry to interrupt but… “Executive VP of Diversity?” Do you think for a moment that diversity of ideas or political points of view falls under their charge? If you watch any branch or arm of NBC you know the answer.

Five out of 18 scripted shows — “Law & Order: L.A.,” Law & Order: SVU,” “Love Bites,” “The Office” and “Outlaw” — have “seven diverse co-executive producers,” Madison told the congresswoman.

Apparently unsatisfied, Waters went through her list of Peacock shows, asking about minority representation among the cast and producing staffs, beginning with “The Event,” which stars black actor Blair Underwood as the U.S. president.

When Madison informed Waters that they did not yet have an executive producer for that show, Waters sought to rectify the situation immediately. “Are there any African-American executive producer types in the audience? Are there any Latino executive producers in the audience?”

“We know of some, and the ones who are on the shows, we hired them on those shows,” Madison said.

“No, no, no,” Waters interrupted. “But you don’t have them on this one.”

And so it went, as Waters, effectively the host of the proceedings given that it’s her home district, proceeded through her list of NBC shows that her staff put together and apparently contained their estimations — sometimes wrong — about the number of minorities involved.

The new show “Outsourced,” for example, is about an American corporate manager tasked with training employees in India. “You have three minorities in supporting roles and no executive producers. Is that correct?” Waters asked.

“I believe we have five minorities in the ensemble,” Madison corrected her.

“Would you tell us what those racial minorities are?” Waters said.

The subtext here is obvious: If white people aren’t fired and replaced with non-whites, your merger may not meet with my approval.

When I first moved out to L.A., purely by accident, my wife and I got caught up in a huge anti-Iraq War protest on Hollywood Boulevard. You could smell jobless hippies for miles. Anyway, any protest signs attacking media bias were aimed at only at CNN and eventually the protest moved to the front of their building. No one protested Fox News. Why? Because protesting Fox is a waste of time. FNC doesn’t bend to that kind of pressure.

CNN, on the other hand, is sympathetic and capitulates to the left on a daily basis. Like NBC, CNN might think their deals with the devil will benefit them in some way; when in reality it only invites more heat as full and complete ideological compliance is demanded.

Like jackals, Leftists smell weakness and NBC falling all over themselves to jump on the PC Obama bandwagon makes them as inviting and as easy a target as a crippled zebra.
