My guess is that the only pause Ebert gave this Tweet was to worry about whether it was insulting to the Commies to equate the American flag with theirs.
The Internet really has been the gift that keeps on giving with the Roger Eberts of our world. With no editors or producers, no one intelligent between them and their moral illiteracy, they just can’t help but expose their true nature to the whole world.

The incident the once universally respected Ebert is referring to involves students in America who dared to wear t-shirts emblazoned with American flags on Cinco de Mayo. For this offense the students were kicked off campus by school administrators.
Whether the students were openly protesting or merely looking to quietly enjoy their God-given right to free expression, it appears as though Ebert agrees with the administrators: Some people’s speech is more free than other’s.

Two problems with Rog's rant. One most of us could care less if some leftie wants to wear a hammer and sickle on the 4 of July. Mexico does not give its citizens a day off for Cinco de Mayo. It is a holiday that was promoted by Corona to sell more beer. And even if it was a true Mexican holiday, who cares? The Stars and Strips, the Tricolor, the Union Jack, and the Canadian, Aussie, and Kiwi flags on the front with the statement that "The United States remembers and honors its allies" on the front, and on the back there was a picture of the Mexican flag and the German Imperial one from WWI with the words "and never forgets nor forgives its enemies."

In all fairness, Kwanzaa was created by a black American to celebrate his idea of Africaness. There's no reason why anyone in Africa should know about it. Cinco de Mayo actually is a Mexican holiday although in Mexico it has about as much significance as the celebration of V-E or V-J day here in the US.

I got news for you, Roger. California kids ALREADY have to share tables with other kids wearing hammer & sickle shirts. And big red star shirts. And (of course) Che Guevara shirts. 'Cinco de Mayo', so called' is a junk holiday with little or no meaning to anyone in the USA and likely as little in Mehico.

This story works in our favor. Kids getting in trouble for wearing American flags may not be so surprising in the Bay Area, but it highlights for the rest of the country how anti-American the left really is.

Why would an American flag worn by an American on American soil upset people who are constantly telling us that they are Americans, too? Wearing an American flag t-shirt on St. Patricks day won't even get you a second glance from Irish-Americans, but for some reason it's offensive to Mexican-Americans. If those kids wore those shirts for the sole purpose of starting a fight, then we should be questioning why such a thing would provoke a fight to begin with.
Cinco de Mayo, as anyone with half a brain knows, is celebrated in the US mostly because it's the one day in the Spring when just about every Mexican restaurant puts margaritas and nachos on deep discounts. Seriously, some of my best and cheapest drunks came on May 5th. It's essentially the US Mexican version of St. Pat's day…which is the official beer day in the Spring.
99% of Mexico doesn't observe Cinco de Mayo any more than they do Dos de Mayo or Ocho de Mayo.

As long as they do not assimilate, theses goofs will continue to have access to cheap minials. The best way to improve the life of the imigrant (Hispanic or otherwise) is to force him to learn the language. Look at how well the Vietnamese have done in the U.S. by working hard at assimilation.
Cinco is supposed to be about celebrating a significant Mexican defeat of the French. Of course, nobody cares about it in Mexico; they realized it wasn't that significant of a victory. Who hasn't defeated the French?
