Cinematical: Leave That Child Rapist Polanski Alone!
by John Nolte
In a year end list of the “25 Lamest of 2009,” what the left-wing film site Cinematical obviously sees as the persecution of Roman Polanski ranks at #2, with this mind-boggling rationalization:
Though he’s already spent time in jail, as well as a number of years living with that one act of bad judgment, apparently law enforcement doesn’t have anything better to do with their time than to chase an accused sex offender whose victim doesn’t even want him to be in trouble. I wonder, if the roles were reversed and it was some famous actress in this position — would we still care about this case all these years later, or would college boys have the actress’ poster hanging in their dorm rooms?
“One act of bad judgment.”
“Accused sex offender.”
Accused…? Are they talking about the same Polanski who plead guilty? Facts mean nothing to these people, and I think a better question might be:
What would Cinematical’s reaction have been if that was their daughter?
What would Cinematical’s reaction have been if Polanski shared Charlton Heston’s politics?
What would Cinematical’s reaction have been if Polanski were a televangelist?
But this is the question you have to ask yourself: If these Hollywood Leftists can’t feel or even fake outrage towards a man who drugged, raped, and sodomized a 13 year-old girl and then fled from justice after agreeing to a guilty plea … what will outrage them?
They not only won’t fake outrage, they put their snark on and crack jokes as though somewhere in the real world a woman who drugged and raped a 13 year-old boy would be some sort of dorm-room icon. Again, facts mean nothing to these people. We’ve seen at least a half-dozen attractive young female school teachers caught having sexual relationships with their students — consensual relationships not involving drugs with most of the victims being older than 13 – and not only have those teachers been held accountable for their actions, they’ve become no one’s cause celebre’.
These are who these people are; these are the people who not only control the most powerful propaganda machine every devised by man, these are the people charged with the responsibility of reporting and covering that device.
These people are so far gone, so depraved, so sophisticated that simply because you play their game, swing in their circles and make “great” art, you can drug and anally rape … anyone.
How young would Polanski’s victim have to be to wipe that superior snark off Cinematical’s face? 12? 11? 10? 3? 1? At what age is what Polanski did not okay?

Pow! Love how you ended that. lol.
It's just incredibly sad and disappointing that these people can't be reasoned with. I have a family member who's a liberal and most of my co-workers are liberal and I keep telling myself that they don't hold these same views. Surely they would condemn Polanski, especially the one's with daughters. And then sadly, I have to wonder if that's true.
Exactamente.
If it were their daughter: $$$$ these guys are not beneath pimping out the children for one of their own, look at MJ.
If they shared Charleton Hestions politics: A live recreation of the crucifixion scene from Ben Hur.
If they were a televangelst: A live recreatiopn of the crucifixion scene from Ben Hur.
Of course I feel the only true justice here for Polanski involves Banjo Music
Which act of "bad judgement" were they referring to?
Was it drugging a 13 year old girl?
Was it sodomizing the same girl after drugging her?
Was it the rape of sthe same girl after she was drugged?
Was it tha anal rape of the girl after all of the above?
Or was it fleeing the country before paying for those crimes?
My Dad used to know some unsavory characters in his younger days. He told me once a story he heard from some one who'd done serious time behind bars. He said one of their few joys in life were picking straws to see who got to beat up the child molesters on any particular day.
Notle's correct, they won't even put up with it.
I can only imagine what founding fathers such as Washington, Adams, Franklin, Madison, etc. would think of what their grand experiment has wrought.
A culture where this topic is actually under debate.
What will outrage them? That's an easy one: even the mildest criticism of the current President.
I was in the hospital once when they brought in a prisoner, who was a child molester, for some plastic surgery. Seems his prison mates didn't just beat him up…they sort of altered his anatomy.
One would think if even hardened criminal get it, modern liberals would. But sadly no.
All I can think of is some how they view supporting Polanski is equal to sticking it to "da' Man."
What a sad state of self esteem.
Ugh. Those sick people.
Or Sarah Palin not aborting a Down's Syndrome baby.
Banjo music 24 hours a day at about 90 decibels?
Clockwork Oranges, all.
This is reason number 1001 to avoid/boycott their movies and TV shows. Enough is enough. A clearer example of evil cannot be shown than Polanski's acts, and if these Hollywood reprobates cannot, or will not see it, then they are as complacent in the crimes as the one who committed them.
That's true. I once saw a prison video where one of the inmates who had molested a child was being brought down a hall, passing another inmate, and wham! Out of nowhere he just started whaling on the molester. Frankly, if I were a guard there I can not guarantee that I would not have looked the other way.
i've actually been rafting on the Chattooga river and the guide pointed out places where various parts were filmed. he said they often have families along so they slyly refer to one section as where 'the love scene' was shot…
the rafting company sells T-shirts that read: "Paddle faster- I hear banjo music!"
Yeah, you know…"Woops, I raped a peasant. Silly me!"
If that was my daughter he raped. He would already be dead. Can't depend on the courts now. All we can do is defend our families ourselves.
And if the guy was wrongfully accused?
Polanski is guilty. That's established. But there are men behind bars for child molestation who actually are innocent. We've seen this happen in the past. The McMartin's come immediately to mind.
All I'm saying is that, convict on convict brutality shouldn't be seen as a supplement to our justice system. Especially when DA's are getting more and more corrupt about handling cases and the innocent are more and more at risk.
That said, Hollywood is completely nuts to support Polanski in any way. I wonder if anyone will make a statement during the Oscars or Golden Globes. Will they have a ribbon dedicated to him? All the good colors are taken. Maybe flesh tone?

At the very least I wish the guy would just man up, get his ass back to California and take care of his unfinished business. Hollywood people want to help him? Good – let them set up a legal defense fund and hire him a lawyer. (Is Lynn Stewart out of jail yet?) But don't encourage the guy to just blow off the justice system. Next time it could be them wanting justice. If they were injured, how would they feel if the courts just said "well, it was a long time ago and the defendant is famous – let's cut him some slack?"
People are weird…
I'm not saying I would condone that sort of thing, but I find it hard to be sympathetic in any of these cases. This assault didn't happen in a vacuum; the other guy had found out in some way that the inmate had committed this crime and was now beating him up for it. And while I've heard cases of people being wrongly convicted of sex crimes, I also take and will continue to take protestations of innocence with more than a grain of salt. After all, if you talk to the people behind bars, 100% of those convicted are innocent.
It has been a source of considerable comfort to me that even my most dyed-in-the-wool leftist friends think Polanski is despicable and those who defend him are idiotic. Talk about it with your family members and co-workers, Brian: you'll likely get a pleasant surprise.
When the Gitmo prisoners go on trial in New York, I do hope the judge and jury don't come down too harshly on them because of "one act of bad judgement" that took thousands of lives.
Thank you.
The fact is Polanski bailed.
He's parading around Europe living the high life and thumbing his nose at the justice system.
I don't believe it's possible Polanski will man up, since he's not anything near an actual man. That's when it becomes our duty to see that he faces justice. Even if what he did was as trivial as the "progressives" want to believe it was, the fact that he fled is the same.
[...] – and note the smackdown the authors get for trivializing the Roman Polanksi rape case. Update: Big Hollywood chimes in, [...]
"What would Cinematical’s reaction have been if Polanski shared Charlton Heston’s politics?"
If Mr. Polanski had Mr. Heston's values, this never would have happened.
“One act of bad judgment.”
At least they are consistent, they feel the same way about the twin towers and the shootings by the muslim army officer.
The left is a cancer that needs to be politically irridicated once and for all
Pedophiles should get a bullet between the eyes then tossed down the nearest sewer hole with the other vermin. People who try to rationalize these abominable crimes against children should be put on a pedophile watch list.
"Though he’s already spent time in jail, as well as a number of years living with that one act of bad judgment,"
This is priceless, he is suggesting that Polanski (and other child molestors in general) feel remorse for their indescretions against children and that living with that burden should be punishment enough. But if that was truly the case wouldn't that have prevented them from doing it in the first place? If a child molestor was even remotely capable of any form of sympathy, that would be enough to dissuade them from acting on their impulses. They do it precisely BECAUSE they are incapabe of considering how this will affect their victims. He continues on with calling him an "accused" sex offender, but to feel remorse don't you have to be guilty or ashamed of something? And one thing we know about sex offenders today, is that it is rarely ever just "one act of bad judgement".
Edski…..your blaming this on the founding fathers??…is that your justification for the new world order?..the reshaping of the American culture to match your liberal bias?….move to france…they will understand you!
Your "island" already exists, moron. It's called TEXAS. Don't tempt us.
To be fair, given that it was the 1770s, I imagine among the first questions would be why she wasn't already married off to begin with…
I'd like to go on record that I have absolute no problem with – and in fact a good measure of respect for – anyone who knows they're going to have a Down's Syndrome child and chooses (I know, I know, awful word. Go have some tea, you'll feel better) to go through with it.
That said, what DOES horrify me is the idea of the Palins projecting their DNA into another generation of the gene pool. You wanna talk social-responsibility… ye gods!!
If your handle is chosen ironically, then I applaud thee master humorist
True
I envision it more as a reasonable and polite debate to see who gets to challenge the lot of them to duels.
may 2010 be just as awful to the neo-con repubutards as 2009 was
I suspect Roman Polanski is actually a fan of neocon foreign policy. He's certainly big on Zionism.
I applaud thee MovieBoob and do herby knight thee a waste of skin.
Watching too much Oberman again are we?
{smiley faces make everything ok, and your Shakespearian prose makes your self-proclaimed intellectual superiority truly daunting instead of hilarious }
Indeed, look at the names of those who signed on his behalf, especially the French artists. It's like a who's who of Israel supporters in the entertainment industry.
Most liberals are anti-Polanski – just check the comments at most liberal blogs. This is not a liberal v conservative thing. Americans think everything is libs/Dems v cons/Reps but on most important issues they are on the same side.
This is a political blog, of course the articles are going to be political. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out.
You just had to jab Palin, didn't ya?
I feel the same way regarding Polanski's DNA, not to mention Stanley Ann Dunham's.
So, let me get this straight. Saying that we shouldn't go easy on a child molester just because he's a celebrity makes Nolte intolerant, divisive, mentally unstable and–a real leap this–a neocon? So what should he have argued, that we should go easy on Polanski because he is a celebrity? Or would you prefer he say that to call child rape a "crime" shows a lack of understanding and we shouldn't judge? Seriously, as idiotic as most of what passes on your posts for coherent thoughts is, I thought we would all be agreed that what he did is a terrible act and those who defend him risk taking a morally reprehensible stand themselves. But apparently you're one of those fools who don't believe in morals or in respecting those of us who do.
Concerning your mockery as to the "Hollywood Left," I'm sure Mr. Nolte would have done so had he been able to avoid a redundancy in terms. Prove me wrong, if you can.
Thanks AreYouSerious, you do realize that what you just described above are known as the Galapogos Islands and it is where Darwin formed his theory of natural selection? So essentially you want to send us to a place where only the strongest most efficient adaptable people and ideas will survive and strive to become even more dominant and successful in life's proverbial food chain. Thus it is no wonder you are so threatened by us, with us here competing against the likes of you how could you ever succeed or prosper in this world. But what you call punishment or banishment most of us will call "Atlantis". Now I don't expect you to know what that means, so just consider this; Be careful what you wish for my friend. If Atlas shrugs, you and your ilk will undoubtedly suffer more than most.
I read the entire article on the Cinematical website, and thankfully there were plenty of comments expressing distaste for their Polanski defense. It's too bad, because the article has a bunch of other lowlights of 2009 I agree with.
The whole "live and let live" attitude Polanski's defenders keep spewing is the lamest thing of 2009.
Not surprising. I read and/or listen to podcasts from sites like Cinematical, CHUD, slashfilm, etc, and one thing that becomes clear is that when it comes to the people who run the sites and write content for them, they live in a political echo chamber where the very worst of liberal Hollywood's opinions are absolute and infallible fact. Iraq=illegal war, Bush=Nazi and/or moron, Christians=world's most hateful demagogues, global warming=certain as gravity, etc.
If the girl was lesbian the howls from the left would be earsplitting. A hate crime!!!
Nobody on Brietbart likes my politics, because I am not a fan of the Republican Party, Bushes or Reagans, because I don't think Republicans are conservative fiscally and never have been.____But there is one thing that is almost universally agreed upon even among liberals. Polanski should be extradited back the the US and sentenced properly for his crimes. I had one Jewish friend that put some sympathetic comment about Polanski on his feed and he was roundly condemned for it by at least 40 others.
This is true… I'm convinced liberals want Polanski to serve time… and they are almost all outside of Hollywood.
*MissQuinn*
I agree with you. Rape and beatings violate the prisoner's constitutional rights and are a sin against God. That kind of punishment is unlawful and a throwback to Pagan times.
Just to be clear, because I play banjo. You want to punish Polanski with what was happening in Deliverance while the banjo was playing right? Its not the music that bothers you?
To steal a line from a stand-up comedian… MovieBob, the next time you have a thought; let it go….
Sure they have children jmg09…. But these are the same people who think Obama's Safe Schools Czar is simply wonderful….
Um I think EdSki was saying that the founding fathers would be horrified that we are debating this topic instead of simply taking care of the problem. Although I have been mistaken before, EdSki is far FAR from having a "liberal bias" from what I have read.
These left wing Polanski apologists can not possibly have children. I can not imagine a sane person saying that drugging and raping their 13 year old daughter was just an "act of bad judgment". If this was my daughter, Polanski would not be around today to be in jail.
It was a reference to Deliverence
A Hollywood director of Polanski's reputation and 'artistry' could have, back in the day, had virtually any number of beautiful, available, and desireous adult women (or men) in his bed but he chose a 13-year-old girl. He didn't do it as a one-time transgression and he didn't do it because she was nearby soliciting his attention and looked older. He planned his disgraceful actions in a calm, premeditated manner. He lured her to a famous actor's house, Jack Nickleson, where he was staying on the premise that he wanted to take photographs of her. Certainly she never should have gone and certainly her parents should have not allowed her to go but go she did. Once there she was manipulated, seduced, drugged, given forced oral pleasure, and then sodomized. After his arrest he admitted his guilt as part of a plea bargain but before sentencing escaped the country and has lived as a fugitive for lo these many years. How can anyone defend this perverted excuse of a man? Anyone who chooses to defend him and his actions should be castigated as harshly as he.
Attempts to connect Polanski's perverted actions to anything political is total BS. A number of folks have tried to link his crimes to neo-cons, jews, left, and right causes. Will you please go away and grow a pair. This is about one thing and one thing only: a pervert raped, drugged, and sodomized a 13-year-old girl. Period. End of story. In my court he would be sentenced to death by hanging. How long shall I have to wait to be told how violent I am, how unforgiving I am, or how single-minded I am? My response is also simple; leave little girls and boys alone or die in the harshest possible manner.
Well, Monica Bellucci has a five year old daughter and she signed the petition to free Polanski.
And to think I used to like her.
That is only because the Lefties have such a vested interest in bashing the Catholic Church for child molestation. If they aren't angry about Polanski then they know their arguments against the Catholics (that have been Homosexual rape by the way) won't hold as much water. However, as has been said it is different for Hollywood Liberals who are Polanski Liberals. The devotion to "art "makes them righteous and without sin.
I'M FOR THE OLD WAY OF PUNISHMENT FOR PEDOPHILES THAT RAPE AND MURDER CHILDREN.
DRAWN AND QUARTERED IN THE TOWN SQUARE AND THROW THE MEAT AND BONES TO THE DOGS.
I'm sure all the celebs will be wearing brown ribbons to show support for their favorite child sodomizer .
Unfortunately there is a WORLD of difference between sharing 'Politics' and sharing 'Values'. For your edification, I present you with the difference between Arlen Specter (or Juan McCain) and Ronald Reagan (or Jim Inhofe). 'Nuff said.
[...] Cinematical: Leave That Child Rapist Polanski Alone! [...]
The Swiss Official's and spokesperson should study the concept "Don’t assume, otherwise you’ll make an ass out of you and me."
If Swiss Officials are going to be fair, and NOT ARBITRARY in Roman Polanski's extradition process then Swiss Justice would have to study whether the current Los Angeles Prosecutor's statements regarding what Polanski's sentence was back in 1977 – is true or not, and not make assumptions that what the Los Angeles prosecutors are saying is true.
If the sentence was originally less than 6 months then Roman Polanski cannot be extradited by Switzerland according to their treaty with U.S.A.
Currently it sounds as if Swiss Officials want to discount the original Los Angeles Prosecutor in Polanski's case, Roger Gunson's testimony regarding what the original sentence was, without even looking at Gunson's sealed testimony.
If Swiss Justice wants to assume that current Los Angeles Prosecutors would be honest enough to make a true statement as to the length of Polanski's sentence back in 1977, when they requested extradition of Roman Polanski after 32 years in 2009, that assumption will make an ass out of them, you and me.
Polanski's lawyers have asked the Los Angeles County Superior Court on 4/29/2010,for access to the sealed transcript of testimony by Los Angeles prosecutor, Roger Gunson, concerning the Santa Monica Judge's sentencing plan for Roman Polanski in 1977.
Polanski's California lawyers request contends that original 1977 Los Angeles prosecutor Roger Gunson’s testimony proves that an extradition request by the current Los Angeles Prosecutors filed with Switzerland last year INCLUDED A FALSE DEPICTION OF THE SENTENCING PLAN made by the original Judge Laurence J. Rittenband 33 years ago.
The 2009 Los Angeles Prosecutors request to Switzerland on the topic of sentencing, said that Judge Rittenband sent Mr. Polanski to prison in 1977 for a psychiatric study so he would “be in a better position to reach a fair and just decision” before sentencing,
But what the Los Angeles prosecutors are saying is not true, since there was an immediate psychiatric study of Polanski when he was first arrested in 1977. This first study which was positive for Polanski, occurred before the Judge allowed Roman Polanski to leave the country to make a movie, and before Polanski returned to US and underwent the second pyschiatric study at Chino prison.
And even if the original Judge did make a statement to the press
on 9/20/ 1977 see,
http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=JNURAAAAIBAJ...
The original judge said it at a staged hearing at the Santa Monica Courthouse and was part of his judicial corruption in that he stated one thing for the press, and an entirely different sentencing plan to the lawyers and Los Angeles prosecutors involved in Polanski's case.
For more information on the Santa Monica Judge's Judicial corruption, and evidence from lawyers that there was in fact a staged hearing, see the documentary movie Polanski: Wanted and Desired.
The Los Angeles Prosecutor Roger Gunson in Roman Polanski's 1977 case, has testified that Roman Polanski’s prison stay at Chino was to constitute his entire sentence, and lawyers Douglas Dalton for Polanski, and Laurence Silver for Samantha Geimer concur.
Also it is documented in the Los Angeles times in Feb 1978 that the original Santa Monica Judge Laurence J. Rittenband would have sentenced Polanski in absentia so why would that not happen now?
Isn't all this torment just to add more clout to the Los Angeles District Attorney's lust for power, so he can become the next Attorney General, at the expense of another famous person Roman Polanski, who in addition to serving his time at Chino, is proven to be harmless
However he may not be harmless in that he is a master of depicting corruption, and the danger of hidden and ruthless power. But this was not the crime for which Polanski was formally charged in Los Angeles.
Let us also remember the vicious circle, Polanski's arrest and pending extradition deflects attention away from the Santa Monica Judicial & Prosecutorial corruption against him in 1977, which caused his Catch-22 situation in 1978, & which in turn caused him to flee.
