Leftist Website Declares Jihad on Conservative’s Book
by John Nolte
Last week an outside link to Big Hollywood led me to a leftist blog I’d never heard of that goes by the name of Sadly, No! For lack of a better term, here’s a portion of their, uhm, mission statement:
Sadly, No! is a liberal/progressive humor site based in Germany, originally as a project of founder Seb, but since 2004 operating as a group blog, currently with American contributors. It has daily traffic between 7,000 and 15,000 visits. …
The site’s main running joke is in finding embarrassing slips or untrue statements by conservatives and linking to a refutation, saying, “Sadly, No!”
Well, even Germans need a hobby, though it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that “sadlyno” is the German translation for “get a life.”
Last week Sadly, No! decided to target John J. Miller’s Big Hollywood article about his novel “The First Assassin.” Violating their own mission statement, the attack wasn’t based on any “embarrassing” or “untrue” statements made by Miller. They just found it oh-so hilarious that the novel is self-published. As a snark attack, it’s Gawker-lite –- and Gawker isn’t all that impressive — but here’s what’s especially confusing…
Ridiculing a self-published novel are writers working for a … wait for it, wait for it …. self-published blog – a self-published blog with fewer daily visits than my local Home Depot. In their mission statement, Sadly, No! claims to be a “humor site,” but these self-published authors obviously missed the chapter on “Irony” in “Building a Poorly Trafficked Humor Website for Dummies.”
They must have also missed the chapter on “clever.” The best shot they could come up with at us was “Big HollyButt.” And I must admit that my first reaction to “Big HollyButt” was an apology email to Gawker for the comparison. Better yet, the very same people who squeezed “Big HollyButt” out of their own Wit Machine actually have the sand to criticize Miller’s prose.
To be fair, Sadly, No! does have something more to offer than just a breathtaking lack of self-awareness. Like most Leftists, they have a mean streak a mile wide.
When it comes to sarcasm and snark, all’s fair on these here Internets. But Sadly, No! isn’t content with a written assault because they’re not really a “liberal/progressive humor site.” What they are is a Leftist Rage Machine who close their post with marching orders to their minions to go on Amazon.com and trash Miller’s book with negative reviews — a book none of them have read.
True to form, the minions complied.
Their willingness to cross this line does, however, help to explain a lot about Sadly, No! For starters, the site’s lack of wit and humor suddenly makes sense. “Funny” can come from dark places like anger, but never cruelty.
Finally, anyone who suggests spamming a novel with negative reviews has to know that such an act could someday backfire on them. Of course, in order for that to happen that someone would actually have to write a novel. My guess is that the Sadly, No! contributors know they have absolutely nothing to worry about.
Maybe they possess more self-awareness than I give them credit for.
Side Note: One way you can help to combat “Sadly, No!” and their online vandals is to rate the Amazon comments and report the reviewers. The phony reviews are obvious.
Better yet, purchase John’s book for the holidays, read it and give it an honest review…

President Obama said "We Liberals think for ourselves…." . Yea, right.
Who ever heard of German humor or a German comedian?
I think Webster's defines those terms as oxymorons.
What humor of theirs that I've witnessed can olny be described as a weird mix of French snarkiness and Russian thudding.
the thinking for themselves seems to result in some really low quality stuff. I'd prefer well written talking points to the individual efforts Nolte' pointed out. The are more entertaining.
Congrats. The Amazon review scam was in National Review Online this morning also. Thanks for the added detail. But what I don't get is how a historical novel about the Lincoln Assassination is such a threat to the Left. Guess I'll need to buy it.
John No-Tea. see it's funny because of the tea parties…
is my lame joke up to par with sadly, no?
"Big HollyButt", wow, those Germans. Man with geniuses like this how did they manage to lose both world wars?
I read through some of the links in the above article and I have to chuckle.
These generally unkempt and deficient career hippies don't seem to get it:
Attacking a conservative's book is a sure-fire way to hype the book's sales. I'm happy for the author that they take such exception to his politics.
He'll be laughing all the way to the bank.
I wonder what Sadly, No's take on Biden is.
Or maybe on Obama when he compared his bowling score to the special olympics.
My wife's funny.
Congratulations, you just doubled their web traffic…oh so briefly.
Meanwhile, self-publishing is quickly becoming an Entrepreneurial option thanks to the web and on-line sales (and the decline in brick and mortar book stores).
I am now intrigued by this book… I may ask for it for Christmas, if I don't buy it sooner.
It amazes me that some of the commentors do not understand the concept of Historical Fiction… :-/
"Of course, in order for that to happen that someone would actually have to write a novel. "
Those that can, do.
Those that can't, tear down those who do.
Give the krauts a bone, they have to attack Americans because the right in their country is better read and don't check out their site. Besides it's a good promo for an interesting book.
It's funny, I actually recognized one of the screen names as a troll that shows up here occasionally. His critique was mess and obviously just a hit attempt. If that's the best they have then they are doomed….
"…a self-published blog [Sadly, No!] with fewer daily visits than my local Home Depot. In their mission statement…"
At least until they garnered some publicity with this rebuttal of their attack on John J. Miller.
I have no objection to refuting the lies of left-wing websites, but sometimes it is better to simply ignore the more obscure ones. Just sayin'.
I was going to say, my German professor was pretty funny too, but he also left Germany (and Communism) a long time ago, so that may have something to do with it.
Look, in "Sadly, No!"'s defense, it's much better for leftist Germans to take this up as a hobby as opposed to several other things that they've been doing in the past 80 or 90 years. There, I said it.
Extreme causes and activities have always found a home in Deutschland and this latest blog is just one more sad piece of evidence supporting that contention.
They're just cranky now that Oktoberfest is over and they're nursing epic hangovers.
Explains why Cartman's mom was in a German schiesse video…..
And "Those that can't, tear down those who do" often wind up reading teleprompters in the MSM.
the end result is not as important as the intent.
so if the product is quality is irrelevant. The conservative writer had evil intent just by setting pen to paper
C'mon Madonna wrote a book. Not a historical novel. But she's been published just the same.
Well, East German anti-state humor is quite funny.
Sprockets, Dieter, 'Do you want to touch my monkey?'''Zis has become tiresome.'
Hee-hee! Ah, the Germans. Always swinging back and forth between self-destructive and other-destructive behavior.
Finally, anyone who suggests spamming a novel with negative reviews has to know that such an act could someday backfire on them.
Exactly….who needs the NYT Bestseller List to guide you? I'll more likely just read whatever liberals don't. My apologies if I've offended any Democrats by assuming that liberals know how to read.
"The best shot they could come up with at us was “Big HollyButt.”
Actually, I have no butt, which is why I am forced to wear suspenders.
Sad, but I think that is the extent of their intellect. They have yet to prove otherwise.
Just spewed my coffee….you so owe me
Liberals had the same problem, until it was discovered their butts were on their shoulders…..
Lefty moonbats ridiculing self-publishing as bad, hum, what do these logic challenged idiots think their little blog site is? It's self-publishing in its purest form. Duh.
Even though the blog originates in Germany, the contributors are one French Canadian working in Germany and the rest Americans, so please don't associate them with Germans.
Hey, Seb, as a French Canadian humor guy, your endless photocropped pictures would have been funny once or twice, but, every almost entry is unimaginative, unfunny and boring. You can do better than that
making a new pot as we speak.
indeed, they wear them as hats.
As a proud member of bighollybutt, my goal is to knock off the egg nog and one less turkey sandwich. In these days of the interwebs and blogs, self publishing is finally becoming a viable solution. I'm under contract with a house, but there are so many limitations as to what I can and can't do. Self publishing is still considered vanity press, in that one's work is too terrible, inane, or conservative to find a legitimate publisher, where the elites do rule the roost. It took me hundreds of rejections until I finally found a publisher, and still, I have to claw and crawl to make any impact. I think that John's subject matter holds an interesting premise, and I trust it will do well.
Reality: I admire him, as he's putting his money where his pen is and this can be a risky proposition at best. John, I wish you luck. Keep blogging, speaking and ignore those schnauzers trying to throw a wrench in your cog. I've received some dilly's myself.
What do you expect from a society who thinks "Deine Mutter ist ein Schweinhund" is the worst possible insult??
It's not lock step with the left. When it comes to modern liberals, there is no tolerance for any independent thinking at all. Period.
Since the book doesn't contain any shots at Bush, Cheney, the GOP or especially Sarah Palin, it must be trash. And so it must be trashed.
When analyzing how the left thinks, check your reason and logic at the door, they will be of little use.
Americans.
It sure as heck is – and some are fantastically good reads – and published by writers who just got very tired of the same old submission-go-round at major publishers and agencies and went "indy". Why not publish yourself, and let readers decide that they wanted to read it! Revolutionary, eh? (Heck, I've done my own four novels as an indy-writer.)
Or maybe on Obama when he compared his bowling score to the special olympics.
Probably had a mental orgasm while dreaming of Obama picking up another Oscar as best comedy writer of the year.
Quick, slap in a Dirty Harry DVD, grab a bottle of Jack Daniels, and talk yourself back down.
Quick, slap in a Dirty Harry DVD, grab a bottle of Jack Daniels, and talk yourself back down.
Back in high school social studies, one time we studying the middle ages and the reformation. There was a minor rebellion at the time, attributed to the reformation, German peasants deciding that since they know longer had to follow the Church, there was no reason for them to follow the rulers.
It was brutally crushed, and crushing it was supported by Luther. I asked the teacher why, and he said the Germanic tribes had a long history of conformity, and rebellion was not part of that.
Which does give some eerie fore shadowing for the twentieth century.
Epic levels of lame, a blogger ridiculing an indy-writer … with luck it will really boost sales. Hey, can I get SadlyNo to go after my books? I'm an indy writer too, and my latest is about German settlers in frontier Texas. Please? It's called The Adelsverein Trilogy, and I'd love to have a boost in sales, especially over the holidays.
My sympathies when you have to take a dump.
I prefer leaving them to taking them.
too much German beer I suppose.
I'm trying to figure out an intelligent, reasonable way to put this, but its very hard, when the subject matter is modern liberals.
All activity is based on the assumption that without knowing anything, they are the smartest individuals in any room and on every topic, for the simple reason they are modern liberals.
Remember the end of the Wizard of Oz, when the Professor gives the scarecrow a degree, and suddenly he starts spouting all kinds of intellectual gobbeldygook? It's kind of like that. Simply be declaring they are modern liberals, they believe imparts them with near god-like insight and brilliance.
Now, from that superior mount they've declared themselves to inhabit, the natural progression is every one who isn't up there with them, is not only lowly and moronic, but also subservient and inferior.
And that's where you get people like the ones on that web site. That's why it's great sport to go after Bush, Cheney, Palin, and anything or anyone else that doesn't bow and scrape at their feet.
It's also why it's insane dribble, unintelligible, and most of all, unfunny.
How much intelligence does it really take to come up with "How about that Bush is he a dummy or what?" And how little intelligence does it really take to think that's funny?
Liberals are nothing but spoiled children.

The Anti Liberal Zone
The irony is that Sadly No's adolescent ravings will likely boost the sales of the novel.
Keeping with the SNL theme, these guys sort of remind me of the "cool" characters portrayed by Steve Martin & Dan Akroyd {sic} "we are two wild and crazy guys." There is about the same degree of coolness, I imagine.
An irony which, I am sure, will be entirely beyond their comprehension.
This reminds me of stories I saw over the weekend about Martha Stewart. She was quoted as saying how dangerous Sarah Palin is. Logical question was whether she had seen any of the interviews Sarah has been doing, to which Martha responded "You couldn't make me watch her."
It never occurs to them that you should have some personal knowledge of something before you attack it. Knowing whereof you speak is such an outdated concept.
the german critic of the Real American is just more LIBERAL HATE AND VITRIOL from the America hating moooslim sect of obamaworld
Or the Schmenge brothers on SCTV. John Candy and Eugene Levy – too great! I wanted to thank you Jed for your support. I goggled and found the kin\\d words you wrote several weeks back. You sir, are a scholar and a gentleman.
All real modern liberals are like that. I don't care how a person votes, if you debate them, and they stop to think, and realize you maybe right, then they aren't real modern liberals.
I had a debate with a modern liberal once who actually said he couldn't possibly be a racist (which he was) because he was a democrat.
They really have changed the definition of racist to anyone who doesn't agree with them.
Thanks, Jack. Interestingly, Levy and Candy are both great, but for some reason, I never really saw much of SCTV when it originally aired (more the pity) so I'm glad to check them out online. As for you, keep up the great work, Jack!
“Funny” can come from dark places like anger, but never cruelty.
So that's why I think I'm so damn funny.
Really? Which one?
Ee-yikes!
Ouch!
Oh, hush. You and your semantics and your proper grammar…
Blarty Blarklce-whatever….the only reason I remember it is because it was so strange.
BLASPHEMY!!!
There can never be too much German beer……
"But, but, I'm for affirmative action and racial quotas and other pro-minority measures. I can't possibly be a racist!"
Thus the rhetorical trick of leftists everywhere. They have taken racism, which means to treat people differently based on their race, and convoluted it into meaning nothing more than being negative towards anyone who isn't white.
"Sprockets" with Dieter somebody summed up German entertainment for me perfectly, and was one of Mike Myers' funniest bits on SNL.
Excellent: between Nolte's comment, "…a breathtaking lack of self-awareness…a mean streak a mile wide…" and this comment, it sums up the liberal personality just about perfectly.
Not that this is news, necessarily. I confess, it initrigues me because, Lord forgive me, I still miss the forest for the trees re: how a person can be a leftist. I guess they think the same thing, but it's exasperating sometimes trying to understand it. To try to comprehend the leftist orthodoxy appears to be like observing a person who was set on fire, but discovering that the person thinks they can make the flames cooler or unpainful by telling themselves they like being on fire; they think they can make the pain go away by conjuring a false sense of control and therefore security, but all they ever succeed at is treating the symptoms while ignoring the cause. And for dessert, they viciously mock everyone they see who suffers the same condition, but deals with it in some other way, especially if that other way seems to work at least a little bit.
I'll stop now.
See? Exasperating.
Race has nothing to do with it. Look at the treatment for Condi Rice, Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell, Walter E. Williams, Michael Steele, etc.
To the left racism is not about race, its about hurling insults and self righteousness, in order to purposely avoid debating actual issues.
I was reading this interview in Reason magazine over the weekend.
http://reason.com/archives/2009/11/18/jagdish-bha...
reason: Which side poses the bigger threat to free trade, conservatives on sovereignty, neo-mercantilist grounds, or liberals on equity and environmental grounds?
Bhagwati: In the U.S., I think the Democrats are the biggest threat to free trade. I don’t see the right-wing threat to globalization in terms of sovereignty as being a major one, frankly.
Conservatives are principled people, so they have Edmund Burke type of reservations about continuous change and so on. But they are not people who are going to undermine the rule of law when it comes to trade. Even their arguments against immigration are rule-of-law arguments. Anti-globalization noises saying we’ve lost our sovereignty and so on and so forth, it’s not going to get very far in the U.S. system.
The threat from the left, on the other hand, is much more serious because they oppose free trade on equity grounds. I love America. I have settled in it. But there is a tendency, particularly on the part of the Democrats, to become totally self-righteous on everything and this is the way it has to be and if you disagree, then you’re a Republican. I mean, that’s the way they argue it. It’s unbelievable. They don’t want to argue the merits of the case.
Can I just watch a Thin Man movie with some Jose instead?
But you do hafta admit: the world is a better place because there is such a thing as the Porsche 911.

Americans who weren't dithering and hand-wringing over how to fight a politically-correct "overseas contingency operation".
Any book by a conservative gets bashed on Amazon by liberals who havven't read it. That's why you always have to click through to check the actual reviews.
If "ridicule is (your) most potent weapon" (Alinsky), then why would anyone bother to develop a MORE powerful weapon?
This is why conservatives place a higher value on intellect, reason and competition. We know that the MIND is man's most potent weapon. Liberals are un-armed in the battle of wits.
Amen….
try saying the same thing during a non-stop four hour bus ride.
Not true. One liberal has a thought and the rest adopt it.
Oh I have……except it came out like, "Blapsesmee"……
"YES WE CAN! YES WE .. well .. maybe he can't .. or isn't capable of .. or won't .. or sumpin .."
Yes. The Lefties have a lot of room to ridicule the logical thinkers; us "Right-wingers." You know .. we who dare axe the question: "When you HopeyChangey's rant about how ZER0 is 'just having to fix George W's mess .. blah blah blah' .. then HOW IN THE LIVING H-E-DOUBLE-HOCKEY-STICKS DOES IT MAKE SENSE TO QUADRUPLE W'S WORST DEFICITS?!"
Yep. "Crazy" questions like that get their brain cavities to steam up and start releasing their pent-up BDS!
BOOYAH!
Wow I thought the Allies knocked that mean streak out of them in the forties, maybe they need a rehash…..
"BIG HOLLYBUTT" ??!!
Seriously? Those morons lack the advanced, seemingly intellectual by comparison, sense of humor of my niece. She's 6 years old.
10-15,000 hits per day? I think even Al Franken's Senate page accidentally gets more hits than THAT in one day!
That vaguely rings a bell. I'll have to remember to bring that up if he ever comes around here again.
The State is our best friend, and taking more money away from people and giving it to the State is the best way to create prosperity? Sadly, no.
Actually, not so sad. Coercion-based philosophies should always fail.
The one star reviews were unfair but I read the first chapter and found the writing to be quite clunky, a paint by numbers sort of thriller prose. Nevertheless, that's pretty much par for the course with that genre.
Excuse me, did any of you defenders of whatever you think you;re defending actually read any of the samples of Mr. Miller's Magnum Opus?
It is crummy writing. That's what people are laughing at. Not that it's self-published. (Though having a real publisher would have involved an editor, which could only have helped.)
Maybe if you Big Hosers would worry more about the quality of your work, rather than its ideological purity, you'd get "Hollywood" to take some of your projects seriously, & you wouldn't have to sit around typing here about all those awful liberals.
German humor. Riiiight.
"Two Jews walk into an oven…"
I've heard it was Russians who invented the "Well, they pretend to pay us…" joke, but it was the Germans who were most responsible for spreading it around. And of course Stasi jokes are a laugh riot if you're into gallows humor.
Why is it that right wing sites have no clue about the liberal blogosphere? It's comical, to say the least.
You can tell a German farmer that he has sexual relations with his pigs, and he's amused. You insult his intelligence, and out comes a knife.
This is nothing new. When Jonah Goldberg wrote "Liberal Fascism" there were negative reviews posted on amazon before it was even published!
I hold no brief for the folks at Sadly, No, whose ad hominem humor and strident politics have never amused me. But out of curiosity, I clicked over to Amazon.com and read the preview of the novel presented to me: the first chapter. Then, to confirm my judgment, clicked again, and again, and again.
Based on those samples (similar to what I would read if I picked the book off a shelf in a bookstore), I would not buy this book. John Miller may be a competent non-fiction writer (I don't know, being unfamiliar with his work), but he has a long way to go as a novelist. What I found was stilted, clumsy prose marred by chunks of undigested research (he does appear to know the period), along with characters whom the author moves around like chess pieces, rather than imbuing them with life and authentic motivation.
In the interest of full disclosure, know that I am a Christian anarchist and a Quaker, but am certainly capable of enjoying well-written novels by people whose political views are anathema to me. I am also a published novelist (a science fiction series called Exordium published by Tor Books in the early 90s). I wish Mr. Miller well; with work he may someday become a competent novelist, if he's willing to learn from experience. Unfortunately, self-publishing too often short-circuits the learning process by removing experienced editorial judgment from one's education as a writer. I hope this doesn't happen to him.
I can see the downside to this idea…but I've always felt Amazon should only allow people who have purchased the book from them to leave a review. Then we'd avoid this sort of sleazy "Amazon-bombing," which has long been a juvenile hobby of the left (If the right does it, I'm not aware of it, and if they do, they should be ashamed).
I just went to Amazon and saw the comments. Unreal. I called one out, marked them as unhelpful and reported one. Absolutely vile!
BTW – nothing wrong with self publishing. Vince Flynn self published his first novel and he is doing pretyy darn well these days.
Who else? Tons! Deepak Chopra, Edgar Alan Poe, Willa Cather. Cather's self published book won a Pulitzer.
I have the highest admiration for people who are willing to give it a go. Best of luck with the book John!
Wow reading this was a complete waste of electricity.
Who fucking cares if some no name site bashed a book? You just boosted their readership, good job.
Ugh. No but most of the people commenting on this inane article, such as yourself, are an offense to humanity.
Read what libs dont? Really? You do realize that sounds like something a child would say don't you?
I love that people like you think you've got libs all figured out! Groan.
Glad you admitted that the intellectual left is reality. The tv watching demographic with the highest intelligence quotient gravitate towards The Daily Show and Colbert. That's liberal programming at it's finest being watched by the smartest people in the nation.
Explain that fact away.
And attacking a small, shitty website only boosts it's readership as well.
Dumbasses all around.
So what do you propose we do tough guy? Send 40k more troops into a "War" that you know DAMN WELL CAN NEVER BE WON?
If Obama is "dithering" over troop increases it's because there's a damn good reason. The war is a sham. Poppy production has exploded. Bin Laden moved to Pakistan and now we're bombing those mountains illegally. This is NOT GOOD for anyone involved.
Grow up.
"But what I don't get is how a historical novel about the Lincoln Assassination is such a threat to the Left. "
Uh, that's because it isn't. You're stretching this crap into a smear.
In addition to the book, this site is getting a boost out of this crap non-story.
Hmm… is that where they get their commentary on their male anatomy and their sweeping over-generalizations? I don't know… I am pretty selective on my tv viewing… and when I do watch Tv, I tend to stay away from shows with a blatant political over tone…. Would much rather read for those.
A balanced, thoughtful criticism in a sea of misplaced admiration.
Kudos.
Dear
TrollTim, you are sadly confused. Conservatives are only an offense to liberals, and we're going out on a limb assuming liberals should even be classified as human, aren't we? To your credit, however, you seem to function at a slightly higher level than most liberal nutcases, as it appears you can read. Here's your clue: When one observes people doing stupid things, it's a sign of intelligence to *not* do those same stupid things. Case in point: liberal nutcases commenting that one shouldn't read a book that they haven't read themselves.
Note: The proof that a child is more intelligent than the average liberal nutcase is left as a fairly simple textbook exercise for the reader.
"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.” — Mahatma Gandhi
There is a growing movement in this country, and for good reason, whereby the final defeat of liberals both by a political and darwin solution is coming – I would say in support of other comments without being redundant: Liberal Adolescent
A great bumper sticker: Give War a Chance
If you dehumanize liberals, like they do others, it will be easy to re institute Darwin. We need to be prepared to dispatch them with many tools. Turn to Darwin and let God or your god sort it out later. Just about when you start feeling sorry for them think global warming, government theft of Social Security, tobacco settlements and other fiduciary blunders. The greater good is not the people but their power and agenda.
Not likely. Oh, I mean: Sadly, No!
I just flew in from Berlin and boy, are my arms tired.
rimshot……..
Psychologist Yueh-Ting Lee received an electronic mail message several years ago that included some barbed observations about the quality of life in several countries. "Heaven is a place with an American house, Chinese food, British police, a German car, and French art," Lee's correspondent wrote.
"Hell is a place with a Japanese house, Chinese police, British food, German art, and a French car."
May we add German humor site to the " Hell " description?
'It vould harden my nipples to do so, mein herr.'
Ah, I was wondering when the trolls would start appearing on this thread.
"So what do you propose we do tough guy? Send 40k more troops into a "War" that you know DAMN WELL CAN NEVER BE WON? "
Where do I start?
Firstly, there is no such thing as an unwinnable war. Any war, if enough resources are contributed to it and used well enough, can be won, with the better the use, the less resources needed.
The only question becomes when you are opperating under political restrictions, and those do impose additional conditions on the fight, but they hardly doom it, as Korea and 99% of Vietnam showed.
Apparently, somebody hasn't studied military history.
"If Obama is "dithering" over troop increases it's because there's a damn good reason."
No. Some contemplation is good, but this months-long inactivity without a definitive stance is hardly the sign of a good leader.
"The war is a sham."
Au contraire. Every fact and piece of evidence points towards it being the DIRECT OPPOSITE of a sham. Indeed, even Obama and the Liberals tended to admit that.
"Poppy production has exploded."
And that is not pleasant, but give it a few years, and THEN we will see how things turn out.
"Bin Laden moved to Pakistan and now we're bombing those mountains illegally."
A. And you know this how? If so, please kind sir, point us to where he is.
B. Illegally? If Islamabad cannot control territory inside its borders, that territory becomes open game. WHETHER THEY LIKE IT OR NOT. It applied during the age of piracy, so why should it be any different in the digital era?
"This is NOT GOOD for anyone involved."
Perhaps not right now, but when the issue is decided, the victor shall enjoy no small amount of spoils.
This is the kind of analysis I would expect a very inept fool whose only knowledge about military matters comes from extremely inaccurate and hashed discussions about WWI and Vietnam.
If this is the best you can do, you aren't worth the time it took me to reply to this.
Not necessarily, knave.
If you attack it hard enough, you can discredit it, and perhaps even shame the authors into moving elsewhere or even closing down shop entirely.
Not likely the case here, but there is always the possibility.
Simple. NOTHING YOU SAID has ANY evidence in the least to back it up, and without a study on the matter, you are just blowing air.
Or perhaps you have some proof? Care to share it with us, knave?
No?
Didn't think so.
When the "libs" seem to consist mainly of people like yourself, you wonder WHY?
"Ugh. No but most of the people commenting on this inane article, such as yourself, are an offense to humanity. "
Not necessarily. That would be those commenting FOOLISHLY, and generally acting like knaves without any evidence to back it up.
"Read what libs dont? Really? You do realize that sounds like something a child would say don't you?"
And do YOU realize how foolish you sound writing that up? Pot kettle black.
"Wow reading this was a complete waste of electricity."
Not nearly as much as responding to your inane comments.
"Who fucking cares if some no name site bashed a book?"
I do believe the author, who has not gone through such painful research in order to be mocked by foolish knaves who do not even talk about it, might be.
As would the rest of us, who do not appreciate such unjustified attacks.
" You just boosted their readership, good job."
Possibly, but not necessarily. And given the need to counterattack, that is just a small price to pay.
I don't believe this, but I actually agree with Tim.
Writing is in the eyes of the beholder. And while the prose certainly needed work, I have seen far, FAR worse.
If I had even the slightest reason to believe this criticism was not because of the author's political slant, but about the quality of the writing, I would not be talking on this issue.
Got any substance to that blanket condemnation?
If not, get out of here.
Have you actually SEEN what goes on on DKos or DU?
Pot kettle black.
I have always wondered how a Leftist can engage in soft-censorship like this and still maintain that they believe in freedom of speech.
Don't worry. Those men are harmless:

Then they'll publish even sadder and vicious crap as they slowly drift off the radar.
You've missed the point.
This is the same Pres. Opompous that also said that his mentally ill goons did not target Sarah Palin's family.
Yeah….right. Opompous wouldn't have a clue on what it takes to actually be honest. Truly the son of white trash.
Furthermore, ask yourself the question as to why conservative books sell so much better than libturd books. Those lazy leftist loons are not about to take their "entitlement" money and actually spend it on a book.

Oh yes, it's FAR preferable that the US make concessions to the Taliban and allow them to control certain areas and increase drug production so that they may increase revenue, consolidate power, build more training camps and THEN properly take over Pakistan (including the nuclear missiles).
No one knows how to make concessions to our enemies and annoy our allies like Obama and the Democrats.
YOU grow up, twit.
sounds about right, except your missing all the bouncing around as the bus wont stop for 4 hours and one just drank alot of beer.
Eh, his proof is probably a poll from Huffington Post anyway.
Perhaps y'all could scan the comments on Amazon for any book by a liberal author. You might notice the hundreds of one-star comments from conservatives who haven't read the book. After you've done so, please
document your shock and outrage over such thuggish jihad tactics right here.
All sides play games with Amazon ratings, but only you conservatives go into an orgy of victimhood over it. The grownups — you know, the liberals — just accept that the game gets rough sometimes.
Only their freedom of speech counts.
It's the old double standard of self-publishing; it's seen as normal (if not ballsy) to self-publish a comic book, but self-publishing any standard work of fiction or nonfiction is generally frowned upon. Granted, there are a slew of terrible self-published works out there, but there are some that are genuinely worth reading.
Sadly, No!</i >
