You are absolutely right. This overwhelming need for validation is also the reason actors get drawn into cults like Scientology. The cultists play to this need and tell the actors/singers/celebs how wonderful they are. This attention becomes like an addictive drug.

They were denied love as children (absent or emotionally distant parents) and now seek it everywhere, but it will never be enough.

From my experience in Hollywood there are a lot of Fascists in the corridors of power. Watch the raging, shrieking, screaming, abuse of the power elite towards anyone who doesn't goose step to their commands. or who screws up some order from these little fuhrers and you'll see the KGB or Gestapo in action. Listen to some stars talking to their PA's and the "underlings" who surround them and you'll see people who have no respect for working people and no regard for the dignity ofthe individual. No wonder these a'holes like dictators because they probably envy the fact that they have the power to lock up or shoot people who don't obey their orders. What a fantasy for an ego driven Hollywood loon.
