ObamaVision: Brace Yourselves For the NBC-GE ‘Green Week’ Push
by John NolteJust as political correctness is nothing more than left-wing fascism disguised as tolerance, global warming climate change is nothing more than socialism disguised as nonsense. The tactics change, the goals remain the same, and the arts are as effective a tool as ever.
The Left understands this, which is why the White House pushed to co-opt the National Endowment for the Arts (as though they needed co-opting) and the Entertainment Industry Foundation bent over backwards to push “volunteerism” — which is just another word for funneling the unsuspecting to Internet portals with pro-ObamaCare videos, Planned Parenthood ads and a nifty “glitch” where when you type in “Republican” you’re directed to left-wing groups.

Next week, and for the third year in a row, NBC will inject enviro-friendly messages into its primetime line-up, including a “30 Rock” appearance by former Vice President Al Gore. This push is not about ratings (Al Gore?) and it’s not about an Ed Begley Jr.-style of do-gooderism. And not only will this politically correct environmentalism infect the entertainment division, those left-wing ideological warriors disguised as the NBC News Division have also jumped on board … and not just the Obama-ites at MSNBC.
Starting Monday, a number of Big Hollywood contributors will take an in-depth look at the insidious artistic, business and political maneuverings behind this push, which Bill O’Reilly discusses at length in this Talking Points Memo:
–
There’s much more to this than just an abuse of the public airwaves by a bunch of narcissistic television producers infecting eye-rollingly bad writing into what should be escapist fare.
The entertainment/media complex has been waiting for their Obama, and as we’ve seen, they are wasting no time in utilizing the full force of the most powerful propaganda tool ever devised to further their goals.

How old is that Talking Points Memo? It makes me wish I had gone to the shareholder meeting.
Sigh. Thank goodness for cable television and Netflix. I'm so tired of the constant preaching by the media.

You'll get a laugh!
Al Gore on "30 Rock"? As if I needed another reason to avoid that show. Thank God, Thursday Night Football is back.
Their two remaining viewers will be turning them off. Tina Fey's scar seems to be getting bigger all the time.
…and the Entertainment Industry Foundation bent over backwards to push “volunteerism”…
I will not comment on the accuracy of the direction of bend.
So Immelt got a tongue lashing from the stockholders did he …. Good!
I am just wondering, how much as a percentage of GE's stock is now owned by the Federal government as a result of secretive bailout arrangements. I know they took GM stock, AIG, Citigroup and I assume many other of the financial companies. If some enterprizing reporter/blogger wants to do us all a favor dig up what levels of major corporations the government now owns a peice of and how much.
The NBC "enviro-friendly messages" can only be seen if people watch. Since NBC, and the rest, have pretty much plastered drivel all over their schedules, I for one will be immune to their Obamaganda.
Wonderful things, remotes and the off-on switch……………
I've got the Pepto Bismol……let'er rip. Oh…that's right, I don't watch any nbc shows….
Thank goodness I don't watch anything–anything–on NBC right now. At least this will be over before Chuck comes back on! Please tell me this won't trickle down to USA…it's about the only NBC-based channel I watch regularly.
As Deep Throat used to say, follow the money. Instead of assuming that NBC and its affiliates are just liberal-leaning, you have to wonder why their owners are so in the bag for this guy. Do people really believe that Chris Matthews, et al, are simply concerned about people out of the goodness of their [alleged] hearts? I'm sure their hearts are bleeding all the way to the bank.
I'll brace for nothing, I don't waste my time watching NBC.
GE got at GE credit 25% of the bank bailout moneys. They are doing what obama says to do. He owns them but for some reason Obama Pay czar didn't tough GE salaries.
Jeff Immelt and GE are gonna get a BIG payday…
Seeing that GE is the 'chosen' corporation of the Van Jones' of the world one can only imagine what overpriced, underutilized puffery they will develop.
Doesn't much matter- because the hard Left doesn't want ANY automation at all.
Except, of course, in THEIR homes…
Of course GE is pushing the socialist "green awareness" They stand to gain immense power and fortune when the Government starts doling out contracts for green technology.
Is it possible to have a recall election not just for the Presidency but all of Congress?
It's not just NBC. Did anyone watch The Mentalist last night? At the end of the show when Jane was sitting on the couch, a camera panned by a bookshelf and sitting on the shelf for a quick second was "Communism and Development" a pro-communism book deliberately placed face up as a prop. Is it subliminal indoctrination? Normally I would say I was reaching…even crazy to think such a thing. Now, with the big networks constant politically bias innuendos in their tv shows, I certainly wouldn't put it passed CBS or any network to use mental manipulation to push their pro-social/communist political agenda!
So no NBC or original USA or SyFy shows for me next week. Which frees up 4 hours next week.
I wonder how many of their actors balked at some of the ham-fisted eco 'enhansment' to their scripts.
I recall last year's green week "Law and Order:SVU" was notable for Mariska Hargitay in her bra. Otherwise, the rest was total crap.
"…It's a terrible thing to be wasted…"-Dan Quayle
Sounds like its going to be another pukefest over at NBC. Matt Lauer has always reminded me of a castrated bull.
One last comment: Al Gore is a douchebag.
All this is is hush money from GE to not be on the government terrorist/greedy watch list.
NBC programming hasn't been relevant since the 1980s.
I did see that, but wasn't sure what the title of the book was, but I did see the communist part. Though not sure what kind of message they wanted to send.
LOL!! You don't have to, I can just imagine. Which is all I'll say on the topic, as I don't want my post to be censored, for the same reason you didn't elaborate; good post though, LOL!!
"You know what they say about a man with a large carbon footprint?"
Sean, to an enviro-whacko in the episode about the downed airplance.
This do-gooderism is potentialy vomit inducing, I wonder if THAT is green enough for NBC.
Meh… I'll do the same thing I do every year when they roll this eco-crap out. I stop watching NBC and NBC affiliate stations such as SciFi (Sorry dudes. You can't make me call it SyFy), USA Network, Chiller, A&E, etc.
And knowing what station to avoid is easy since they paint those annoying call letters in the bottom right corner of the screen a deep puke green.
Since I haven't watched NBC for at least 7 years I guess I'll miss their propaganda. I wonder if that makes me dangerous? Perhaps Obama can get legislation through that forces americans to watch TV as well. Then all those freaks that don't watch TV would get exposure to "the message".
Bonus point for putting the Mariska image in my head.
They are doing it on a lot of shows. There are "placements" everywhere from books to "green" livng things. . I am just sick and tired of it. I will not buy from a single one of those sponsors. I know it won't make a difference if I do it, but if a lot of us stopped buying those products, it would send a message. Hit them in their bottom line. Money always tops ideology.
what do you think?
Why do Utility companies, Appliance manufacturers, car manufacturers and others advertise their support for Cap and Trade?
Higher utility rates, a total rewire of the grid to service geographically isolated wide ranging wind farms, higher water rates, shortages and an unreliable grid will give them an opportunity to game the system, higher utility rates and govt rebates will spur appliance sales and other energy saving capital investments, taxes and rebates will attempt to alter the cost structure that favors carbon based energy, making artifical changes to make the non competitive seem competitive.
We will be so screwed as we will be shipping 2% of our GDP overseas, while giving a tremendous economic advantage to India and China who will not participate in the scheme. The tail end of our remaining manufacturing capacity will leave in droves further eroding our tax base to pay the cap and trade taxes. As a result the carbon production that cap and trade is supposed to limit will merely move to less regulated locations where they will be able to run dirtier operations for the cost of a bribe and the govts will build coal plants by the boat load. The unintended consequences are so easy to predict and will be so destructive and costly.
Economically, it will likely not result in less oil consumption. It will just shift the demand curve to make oil even less costly to the Indians and the Chinese, ensuring them of a higher standard of living and even more competitive advantage. As a result even more tax base will flee to their countries.
I dig the heck out of Community.

The interesting thing about these promos on such shows as 3O Rock and The Office is that the shows' struggle to be hip and knowing which must be balanced with the desire to get the message out.
They assume their cool viewers already agree with them, so they often mock the process (on Rock, David Schwhiner played "Greenzone", a purposfully lame spokesman for the enviorment.
The smirks I think keep most anyone from taking the eco-message seriously.
(And yes, I am conservative who finds the NBC Thursday line-up quite funny.]
In my head? Heck, old son, it's my wallpaper (in rotation).
That is a insulting comment, to douchebags.
As my father-in-law would say, "It make the BILE rise in my throat!" That should be green enough, don't you think?
I can't remember the last time I bothered to watch anything on NBC.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoys NBC's Thursday night lineup. It's actually the first time I watch all four comedies – I never got into My Name is Earl.
Actually (IMHO), that 30 Rock episode was amazingly accurate with regards to the various corporate machinations behind "Green Week." And I don't think The Office did anything. And on Chuck, Casey simply told some eco-minded kid to go take a shower or something.
I feel bad for the showrunners and the writers – not all of whom might agree with GE/NBC on this one. Even during that community service week, at least on the aforementioned Thursday night lineup, the messages were minimal at best. I remarked at the time, if I worked in the Obama administration, I'd be thinking, "That's it?! That's all those people did for us?!"
Sure do!!
I gotta say, I think the show is pretty damn solid. It's the only thing I watch on that channel
Yeah, 30 Rock had another show where Jack, the Republican was the good guy. When the show makes Jack and Liz look equally bad or good it usually is a good episode. The pure Republican bashing episodes (which are surprisingly few) stink regardless of your pov since the writing gets skewed in favor of message. When it's "on" it's one of the best shows in TV.
I'm with you! No NBC on green week. Oops! I don't watch it anyway, so it is hard for me to boycott it. I hope viewership drops that week. No NBC on green week folks. Write, call, or email them to let them know why you're not watching – though they probably don't care. What Obama wants, Obama gets.
What an idea! TV sets could be placed on every street corner and every public venue with the Obama network spewing propaganda 24 hours a day – sort of like what the mainstream media does now only more blatant. Big Brother is indoctrinating.
I don't watch most of the other shows on NBC prime time because I think they're mostly crap (oh, Heroes…) but if they hijack "The Office" with this eco-indoctrination, I may hurt someone.
Is this the same NFL that refuses to allow Rush Limbaugh to participate due to his political beliefs? If so, screw 'em.
The only thing worthwhile on NBC is their Thursday Night line-up. It's easily the best comedy block on TV… it's a shame the rest of the network is positively worthless. But hey, so is most network television these days, so I guess everyone's a loser!
I thought GE was selling NBC to Comcast. Are was that Sheinhardt Wigs? I can't keep any of that straight anymore.
Have you ever been to an airport? Or an HMO? I swear the only people who actually watch CNN are those captive audiences.
…climate change is nothing more than socialism disguised as nonsense.
Well said, but I would like to make a minor correction:
"Climate change is nothing more than socialism disguised as science."
If it were being touted as nonsense, no one would listen.
Agreed! But I have noticed a few venues are now tuned to Fox News. I have been at several restaurants and businesses lately tuned to Fox News and have been around when people have gotten up and changed the channel to Fox News. Maybe there is still hope that indoctrination is not complete.
I'm waiting for the return of Chuck and still watch Heroes, though that show has never been all that great. I'm also watching Friday Night Lights before its return to NBC next year, and it continues to be excellent.
I think the reason Community succeeds is because every major character is clearly drawn. Not a single one of them has been given short shrift. Amazingly, they have been able to flesh out secondary characters on top of that. I had to pause the DVR when the Mexican Halloween joke was paid off by Senor Chang at the party. That episode was the best!
It won't mean much to an Alaskan conservative gal, but I have to admit to a slight crush on Gillian "Britta" Jacobs.
I don't watch ANY of these shows nor would I buy GE products.
on and what about all the hollywood millionaires that got on tv and lectured America about obozo volunteerism
cant wait to see the pampered rich actors do their actual part for the obozo fraud – until it costs them blood, sweat and tears – its just more obamadeathcare for all but the rich and politicians
in other words – its just more of the "do as they say, not as they do" for the hollywood millionaires
NBC = Nothing But Crap……thank God I still have the right NOT to watch something that will be 'harmful to my health'…
If that happens I will go back to Direct TV…
Let's see here….GE's stock is tanking by the day…I personally wouldn't even buy one of their stupid looking light bulbs. And everything NBC puts out there, in reality, turns to sh*t. Therefore, GE and the libtards at NBC can stick their products where the sun doesn't shine baby! Good luck with that.
According to Newsbusters, "Green Week 2009" will seep into everything NBC owns: its networks (CNBC, MSNBC, NBC News, NBC Sports, SciFi Channel, Sundance Channel, Bravo, USA, and Telemundo), its Web sites (iVillage), and even its theme parks (Universal Studios)."
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/carolyn-plocher/2009...
Don't watch any of those, thank goodness.
Gee, since I watch nothing on NBC, I guess I'll miss this.

Crap in a zip-lock bag and send it to nbc.. include a fork and a note telling them to "eat hearty.. make sure to recycle"..
Steak house I was at last night was airing fox.. sound was turned down with the captions on so as not to disturb the libs/maggotts.
I spoke to the owner about it and he said that he liked Foxnews and most customers didn't complain.. He said that a couple of "hippy-types" came in and complained about foxnews being "in their faces while they were eating".. so instead of changing the channel he moved the hippies… hahhaha!!
I stopped watching NBC a while ago. When I watch TV I don't want to be lectured or manipulated. Regretfully, this is the same reason I also stopped watching the sci-fi channel which had one of my favorite programs, Eureka, which was a good program until they started manipulating their scripts to endoctrinate people to go green. Do they think people are that stupid? I guess ratings don't count…
LOL — Good one! Thank you for the laugh!
Mariska is definitely a woman of unfortunate appearance, but there's just something about her..
She's definitely worth adding to the flock. (In a word, flockable!)
That's hilarious. Thanks for sharing!
There is NOTHING in or on ANY TV set that isn't there for an expliciy reason. Every thread is there purposely.
ha ha!
We need to follow the money all the way to George Soros, the old USSR and beyond. Let's really have some change for a change!
Here's at least one payoff from the Gov to GE

Speak for yourself, I see her as a Goddess!
A POX ON YOU! A POX I SAY!!!!
LOL — My sincerest apologies. I'll say this: Her face has a lot of interest. I'd far rather look at her than a typical actorette with the bimbo face.
(I wondered if she was related to the actor Mickey Hargitay, so I did a Google search. There was some interesting history in the search results. You probably already knew that Mickey was her dad, that there was a terrible car accident when she was a toddler, and the fact that she had her dad on an episode of the show a while back.)
A little more, her mom was Jayne Mansfield. Who did die in that car wreck you were talking about.
Mickey (her father) has since passed on since that episode aired.
Right on all counts.
I'm gonna take another look at Mariska who makes guys friska. If I end up a fan of hers, I'm blamin' you you you you you.
It's a combo of looks and personality. It's complicated. It's more about strength of her character. You look at what she does outside acting, and you find she is indeed not a Paris Hilton type bimbo.
I don't know her politics, and really, I don't want to. But pretty sure she tilts to the left.
John there is nothing that could make me watch this garbage.
Sorry T-Rav. The Office is one of the shows promoting this junk. Sigh. It's my favorite show! I can't believe the writers are bowing down to the corporate brass like this. Very upsetting considering this show has always done its own thing and seemingly not been influenced by ratings grabbing stunts (like avoiding Jim and Pam being the new Ross and Rachael).
