ObamaCare TV: Preview of ‘Organically’ Produced Television Shows?
by John NolteIn my piece posted earlier today, I mentioned previous television network public service campaigns and the “clunky exposition awkwardly inserted into your favorite show” to further whatever that campaign was. Last week’s episode of “The New Adventures of Old Christine” might have provided an early preview of how the networks will — per the infamous memo – “organically produce and create as many stories as possible about service and volunteerism” — and if so, it appears as though I owe “clunky exposition” an apology.
Put your politics on hold for a second and at right around the 2:38 mark watch and listen to two awkward minutes of lazy, poorly written pro-ObamaCare propaganda:
For those of you not willing to put yourself through it, the entire episode is littered with jarring references to the 45 million uninsured (I thought it was 30 million, or have 15 million lost their jobs and insurance since the stimulus?), “jokes” about the long lines at American hospitals and even a line desperately seeking a rim-shot about death panels.
And let us remember, CBS is using the public airwaves. I guess the Fairness Doctrine only applies to those who are open and honest about where they stand politically — in short: conservatives.
If CBS and company put agenda above of quality to say “How high?” to the Obama Administration’s “jump” the week prior to next week’s full-court press, how bad will next week be?

NBC's "Green Week" last year was bad enough…….
I was wondering why the family was watching less and less television. All this time I thought we were becoming more ecological minded expanding our horizons, reading more, talking more. Who knew we were just turning off propaganda.
Okay, now I'm really torn. The First Lady is telling us according to another story (LA Times linked above) to turn off our TVs. This is making it so tempting to do what Michelle says, and that is causing all kinds of cognitive disonance.
The pro-Obama bit was stupid, but it was hard to pick it out as worse than the rest of the 'comedy' of this show. It's just excruciating.
I watched as much as I could stomach. I guess this is what they do to their shows that are decidedly unfunny and uninteresting. Make them into PSA's or… OSA's.

Ohh that's right I forgot about that, LOL what a joke. I have never seen the show w/Elaine Benes mentioned above. It looks as if I haven't missed anything.
If CBS and company put agenda above of quality…how bad will next week be?
In general, based on current programming, it seems that CBS and company have put *everything" above quality, including used motor oil, periwinkles, and land-fill bacteria. In specific, only liberals could intimate that socialized medicine equates to quality programming without blushing furiously in embarrassment.
Now, know that "Christine" is not Emmy material in the first place, but the blatant propaganda coming out of their mouths- My God! I have to wonder if they felt any shame about being a 30 minute commercial for our witless leader?
I can tell I will have my remote in hand with the mute button ready, or I will spend the week in an oldie movie marathon- heavy on John Wayne ,lee Marvin and Steve Mcqueen.
After looking at our Resident, I need to see a real man actually doing something that has some unambiguous morality to it- not this squishy stuff Nobama has been hawking so disingenuously.
Bless her heart, Julia Louis Dreyfus is descended from Gérard Louis-Dreyfus (also known as William Louis-Dreyfus), a billionaire heir to the Louis Dreyfus Group, one of the world's largest commodities trading and merchandising firms. (Check her out on Wikipedia.)
Whatever happens to the American health care system, it's irrelevant to her. If the system tubes, she'll just travel to wherever the "good" health-care migrates–like all of the elites will.
Wait, people watch "The New Adventures of Old Christine"?
Color me surprised.
Gag. Green week. The best part of it was when they broadcast the news in the dark. Symbolic, I tell you.
Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld had a hard and fast rule about producing no "a very special Seinfeld" episodes. This is the very thing that nearly destroyed the genre in the early 1980s. Shows that were suppossed to be funny, became incipid half hour political rants and were unwatchable. (Picture little Ricky Schroeder on Silver Spoons coming to grips with nuclear holcaust or an entire episode of the short-lived Dabney Coleman vehicle 'Buffalo Bill' being devoted to abortion rights) Half hour comedies are not exactly thriving right now. If this sort of thing again becomes de riguer, it will completely destroy the format.
The good thing is, no one will see the propaganda because NO ONE would watch that not funny drivel. The bad thing is that show is still on the air. Laying aside the politics, how is a show that bad and THAT not funny stealing airtime?
only a brain dead moron would watch this shyte
A simply awful TV show.
Who is surprised?
But didn't she actually earn an Emmy for this show a few years ago? Wow. Just Wow. I find myself watching very little t.v. these days. I don't think I'm missing much.
Why is this crappy show on the air? Women.
My kids are unintentionally funnier, without the political BS. I think I'll watch them instead.

I hope NCIS just sticks to the "support for military families" bit. I pray. (If they start going down a route in one episode I will turn it off until next week).
Does anybody even watch network tv anymore? Lol…
Don't watch it. I have other things I do watch. Tonight was wierd TV, Flash Forward and Fringe. The only program that I currently watch on CBS is NCIS, sometimes the new spinoff and Numbers. Nothing else comes to mind. Nothing on NBC, Castle and Flash Forward on ABC, Fringe and House on FOX. Will watch 24 when the new season starts. Also watch the new Stargate Universe on Syfy. I know I like alot of the wierd but could never get into Lost. I hope that they do not screw up my favorite shows with this poli-speech inserted into it.

CBS-gets-a-peace-prize! (Check out the latest Crowder and you'll get the joke.)
Whys watch crap when baseball is on ……….. and I am female. If they even try to get political – you turn the sound off …….
Alright, now I am really confused. When I clicked through, got MEchelle's video, and did a Search for *daycare*, just to be random, and it pulled up opportunities in/around MY zipcode. I have NEVER heard of iParticipate, nor clicked on any government propaganda, (to my knowledge), yet, the website KNOWS my zipcode? Was I tracked from BH, or have I been reported? I am not kidding, this freaks me out.
WOW network TV is now just like the effin tards who try to incorporate their stupid leftist agenda into to lame movies that they make. Well one more reason to keep the tv off.
"Organically produced"?! Other than the mental vegetables that produce these shows, in what way is any of this "organic"? It's about as un-organic as it gets. It's "Anti-organic".
"Organic" means trying to make something grow by using only s**t.
" Organic " – organs of the Party mandate this for the People's good.
Wanda Sykes is the most blatantly racist person on TV today.
Wanda Sykes is the most blatantly racist person on TV today. And totally un-funny.
Where's Chuck Barris and the gong ……enough allready.
In an episode of her show, Julia Louis Dreyfus spent nearly the entire time with her foot stuck in a toilet… what passes for comedy on cbs
I don't.
And listen to music. Put a CD on the stereo or whatever.
HA! I hear ya! It's kind of an oxymoron, the emphasis on the moron.
My gosh you are funny!! Everything above quality including….land-fill bacteria. Priceless. =)
Absolutely. I imagined all of our ancestors rolling in their graves when that happened.
Throughout the centuries, man had struggled to over-come the harsh living environment that was Earth. Now, in the 21st century, when man had finally tamed the environment and could enjoy the comforts of shelter and electricity, some men were purposely turning off the electricity…to help the Earth stay alive.
So the thing that gets me with what I was able to stand of this……
Do liberals walk in on each other in the shower and have five minute boring arguments?
And what's with the "Hey Babe is that cancer on your breast or am I just happy to see ya" routine. WTF??
I find this so insanely creepy. I think we are better off watching MAry Tyler Moore and Dick Van Dyke on Nick at Nite.
Anyone remember, right after 9/11, when Bush asked Hollywood to help improve America's image overseas?
Thank God for rehearsals! I won't be home to watch this tripe. I didn't watch the vid because ever since I read about Julia Louis Dreyfus' snobby totally green house in a random Mother Earth News, I tend to gag when I see her. And Wanda Sykes is a pain as well. If THESE two were uncomfortable with the script, then there might be hope. I've wanted to ask all of those people I know in the biz just how willing they are to give up their right to a voice in favor of giving the government a voice. My question: "What would you do if someday you and the government have a difference of opinion or you discover something that needs to be said but the government tells you that you can't say it….What do you do then? Because you know if they shut down one person/group's right to speak, they can shut down all." I'm just saying….
State TV, baby.
Having seen Julia Louis Dreyfus gushing over Teh One on late night talk shows, I can assure you she has no problem with shilling for her homey.
Thankfully, Mondays this month on TCM are devoted to Leslie Caron, so that's what I'll be watching instead of CBS's programs. And Top Chef is Wednesday, thus sparing me having to watch Old Christine…
Did anyone catch the final few lines of Thursday's CSI program, which centered around the murder of a cop by an alleged racist coworker?
I won't spoil the episode, but basically, the final line was, "So who's responsible?"
The camera panned up to show the name of the restaurant where this all took place: "The White House."
Seemed to me that the producers/writers were making the point that Obama has done nothing to make this a post-racial nation, and instead has done everything he can to create an even greater divide. (i.e. the whole beer summit thing…)
Would be interested to know if anyone else had similar impressions of the episode?
Hopefully it will be beared out in ratings. If the nets show a lower viewer turnout, maybe the next time some 'service czar' comings up with another cockamamie plan, the networks and producers tells the white house to STFU!
Well FWIW here's some counter-propaganda.
Obama's Outer Limits: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vahbbcI-6jg
Wow, that's real Soviet Union style quality TV!
But it's all good in:

So who's to blame? The Lefties who use entertainment to promote propaganda? Or those of us who who pay to be insulted? Nolte, why not make a list of the advertisers on this show, post it on BH and let those of us who disagree with the message vote with our wallets. I'd gladly boycott an advertiser who's supporting the destruction of our political system – just tell me who.
I've been noticing this crap for weeks. All the network shows are making comments about healthcare. The fact the they feel they need to manipulate the public into going along with their schemes shows how bad it will really be. The celebutards don't worry about this stuff because they are insulated by their overstuffed piggy banks that shelter their income from taxes. The dems spoke of how we need a insurance profit windfall tax. I say a celebrity windfall tax would be more appropriate!
The website looked at your IP address. This has gone on for some years now.
Freaky? Consider this, someone who knows your IP address can locate your house, using a GEO-Lookup tool. The FBI and other law enforcement groups have made arrests based on nothing more than a backtracked IP address. One famous case: A serial kidnapper downloaded (printed) a map of the area where he'd left a corpse, and mailed the map to a newspaper. He trimmed the map to remove all identifying info, but still got busted. YAY!

Look on the bright side, maybe that was just one episode of NEW ADVENTURES, maybe now they can return.
I'd be more willing to believe the show blamed past inhabitants of the White House, but still reveled in the certain knowledge that some hopey-changey stuff was on the way, to prevent similar atrocities in the future. It's all about intent, as any good lefty will tell you.

I totally caught that! I let out a great big "hmmmm" when I saw it.
Amen, the only thing that matters to vacuous folk like, well, pretty much all celebs is "fairness". It's not fair that illegal immigrants don't get decent health care. Well, I have news for them, they can go into whatever hospital they damn well please and get treated, and that is a major part of what is killing our health care system. Hospitals and insurance companies have to offset the cost somehow.
My wife makes me watch the Biggest Loser, and I can't wait to see how they get the Obama through on that show. Ughh, it is infuriating. Maybe, if I play dead, she will let me off the hook.
I understand they're also going to go back in an digitally recreate the third season finale of M*A*S*H, so that Henry Blake dies because of lack of insurance and improper medial care.
IP addresses are assigned to different ISPs (internet service providers) in different areas, and if you notice those crappy ads about teeth whitening, or dropping weight, they always say a person in a city in your area. Same thing.
Remember, it's for the children!
There's your problem, you're expecting intelligence from the left.
Problem is, America is where people migrate for good health care.
The only thing I can say, is I'd sure like to spend the night with Julia …She is such a cutey….:o)
I happened to catch bits and pieces of this show the night it aired while channel surfing. Couldn't stomach the propaganda. Interestingly, the same night, on the new show that Patrica Heaton stars in her character made what I believe to be a veiled reference to Obama. The show ends with her character stating what a horrible year 2009 has been, but she is pretty sure by 2012 things will be better.
Seems like, in this latest episode, Julia-Louise had her head stuck up her a$$ instead of her foot stuck in the toilet. Poor Julia-Louise – it seems that after "Seinfeld", neither she nor Jason Alexander nor Michael Richards can get a break (she seems to be the most successful of the trio). And working with Wanda Sykes – I'll bet THAT is a real pleasure – like scrubbing yourself down with Chlorox after falling into a cesspool.
THhs move is absolutely unacceptableI Where is the FCC?? Chasing talk radio or just deaf & dumb? Also, if the argument in favor is that this is not for profit or community service promotion, there are guidelines that cover "Community Service," programming. It has to be run in non-primetime slots. Only paid advertising can be run otherwise. Someone needs to pull the plug on this one OR findout how much is being paid to the networks and out of whose pocket s? Ours I'll bet!!
With shows like this, it seems like the networks/television writers/whoever really don't get a salient point. If your characters are meant to be neurotic, self-obsessed idiots, then having them espouse liberal talking points isn't doing the talking points any favors. If I didn't know that Julia Louie-Dreyfus and Wanda Sykes were limousine liberals in real life, I would actually think that the show was making fun of Obama supporters, green hypocrites, etc. Same thing for Parks and Recreation.
This brings to mind the episode of "The Office" where Darryl, who's meeting with Toby to fill out an accident report, says awkwardly, "If we had universal health care I wouldn't be in this mess!"
I'm still trying to figure that one out. Would Universal Health Care have miraculously prevented his injury (which was due to his own stupidity)? Would UHC have eliminated the need to fill out an accident report?
Darn right, Darryl. If you had Universal Health Care you wouldn't be filling out any forms at all, because you wouldn't be getting any worker's comp and you wouldn't be filing any lawsuits. You'd be sitting in the emergency room lobby for 18 hours hoping to be seen by a somewhat competent doctor.
The Office was the ONE show I used to watch (on the internet; got rid of the TV yrs ago). That one is so done. Every show on TV is All Obama All the Time.
Does anyone actually watch this trash?
I've been annoyed by leftist digs on TV and especially in movies at conservatism and Republicans and Christians and whites and southerners and small towners……did I leave anyone out?
I've been annoyed by leftist digs in tv and movies since the 60s — when your awareness becomes triggered, you will notice it everywhere, even in commercials, music, pop-culture. nothing is original anymore — nothing is cutting edge anymore.
This whole "volunteerism" movement is creepy; anything initiated by the government should be met with skepticism. This country is the MOST charitable country in the world, we don't need President Obama demanding this of us. What's really creepy is how my employer (one of the major insurance companies) is pushing this at work. We got an email today about the EIF's Iparticipate movement….thank goodness I saw the articles on here yesterday. It all seems so innocent, but there is a much larger motive here folks…..
After 9/11, didn't the Bush Administration ask for a meeting with some of the Hollywood Heavyweights for assistance, but were told they would not participate in anything that they considered propanganda. Odd, how this seems to change with a differnt party leading the country and over things like health care and volunteering(although I'm sure they won't promote joining the military.) Thank God for the Korean Broadcasting Channel here in SoCal.
Terrible acting and equally terrible writing. Do people actually watch this show? Now I know why I only have 2 or 3 shows I even watch on a weekly basis. Next week the network TV shows stay off because I don't want to hear the volunteerism propaganda.
These people really know how to make their ratings drop. I watch tv to get away from this crap not to hear more of it.
You know what though… we can actually spin this in a different way. Though the issue she address is the amount of uninsured in this country, notice how she embodies the inherent flaws of the public option: 1) she is simply a hypochondriac who is over reacting, 2) absolutely no consideration when it comes to preserving the public chest, she simply is willing to waste funds and take the doctors time from people who really need the treatment, and 3) notice how self centered she is, how this really isn't an issue of the best public policy, simply an issue of what could get her coverage at that very moment.
Though it may have been a pathetic effort of the network to try to continue to indoctrinate our public, a reasonable person ought to see just how insincere and phony their attempt was. As a matter of fact, i contend that a reasonable person would be more dismayed by their attempt then supportive.

I watch Foxnews and listen to talk radio. If the tv is on, it is old Andy Griffith reruns or old movies that remind of how our country used to be. I will never understand why they use these idiots in hollywood to preach to us like they are geniuses. To me, they have nothing to offer me. Football and baseball work….
That program makes me gag anyway. I wouldn't watch it someone paid me to. Years ago that was why I stopped watching mash. The left tries to indoctrinate the weak minded. That's why the mind numb morons that watch dribble like that show are the targets. They probably think it's true because they heard it on a TV program. If you repeat a lie long enough stupid people will believe it. Obama and his supporters are counting on it. Especially those that think Obama care won't cost them anything.
Wait I have an idea for the show! Give Christine a terminal illness. Make it a quick one
you know whats really sad is that if this was the Bush admin doing this, promoting this the dems and everyone else would be all up in arms, screaming at the top of their lungs, but you know since its a dem prez that makes it a-ok. (Not) I dont watch tv, the kids watch nickelodeon and sprout. Getting a bit tired of Nick's the big green help, and help us save the big blue. Fine if kids want to get involved, but why does it need to be shoved down their throats? There is alot of times the kids dont watch it anyhow.
