LEAKED NETWORK MEMO REVEALS: Obama Controls Your Television Set
by John NolteOn September 10th of this year the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) posted a press release informing the world that “from October 19-25, more than 60 network TV shows [will] spotlight the power and personal benefits of service,” and that this “unprecedented block of TV programming is the first wave of a multi-year ‘I Participate’ campaign.”
On its face this all sounds rather benign in that silly, liberal do-gooder kind of way. The networks have launched these kinds of campaigns before and other than some clunky exposition awkwardly inserted into your favorite show to meet the mandate — no harm, no foul.
But this year there are a couple new strangers in town: “Volunteerism” and “Service.” You’ve heard of them. Their names have been bandied everywhere since President Obama took office, and this internal memo from the EIF to network showrunners obtained by Big Hollywood shows that the entertainment industry is well acquainted and eager to introduce both to as vast an audience as possible:

Like the NEA story, once again we see the same buzzwords pop up; suggested topics pitched to an overwhelmingly left-of-center group: Education, health, environment, the economy and lastly — almost as an afterthought as some kind of “bi-partisan” cover – support for military families.
We’ll have to wait until next week to see what effect this initiative will have on the 60 television (and news) programs in question, but thanks to the intrepid Patrick Courrielche and Stage Right, today we can answer the simple question of…
“What’s wrong with this?”
Doing the work the Kamikaze Media (many of whom are participating in this event rather than digging for the story) refuses, and with the help of Big Government’s Dana Loesch, Patrick and Stage Right have discovered that when it comes to this White House – whether it’s the NEA conference calls or EIF’s iParticipate programming — all roads funnel into one place: online volunteer portals, including Serve.gov, where if you plug in “health care” all kinds of Planned Parenthood openings pop up along with a video dispelling those ugly “myths” knocking ObamaCare.
There’s scarier stuff, but I don’t want to spoil the surprise. *cough*Trutherism*cough*
We’ll start with Stage Right. Next week, tens, if not hundreds of millions of Americans, will be urged through the (ab)use of public airwaves to log on to the EIF iParticipate site and volunteer. Stage Right will give you a preview of what the unsuspecting and well-intentioned, including your children, will find.
If you’re thinking it’s all about “Meals on Wheels,” think again.
From there, Patrick Courrielche will describe how this EIF initiative fits into a broader White House plan, including the push to politicize the NEA, to redefine “art” as “service” and engage an all too compliant news, entertainment, and artistic community to start a volunteer army through these online portals.

Is there a list of the shows participating? I'd like to avoid this nonsense even if it means boycotting all TV for a week.

Tennessee is the Volunteer State. Nobody volunteers like Tennesseans. We don't need to be prodded by a bunch of errant "celebrities." Interestingly, Tennessee is a "red" as it comes politically. Self-reliance and responsibility are the watchwords here.

Voluneerism is something that we should all be compelled to do because it is the Christian thing to do…it is expected of us. Certainly not because Pres. Opompous orders us to do it so it, like everything else, must reflect positively on him (because in Obamaland….EVERYTHING is about him!). Volunteerng at my church and ultimately to my community THROUGH my church is what God expects of us….who gives a rat's butt whether Opompous wants you to do it…..folks performing any kind of service has nothing to do with Opompous. It's not about him.
So for what we have is a co-ordinated effort by the White House to encourage more voluteerism which on first glance seems innocent enough and that is how it will be spun. It is only with a little investigation and seeing the sites linked to that the real Political Objectives can be seen. The very best that can be said about this is that it is a way for team Obama to keep thier message out. It is also a way for them to co-opt new voters which will come of age before the next election. That is the best that can be said. The worst is a lot scarier.
I don't watch live TV, but I'd like a list of advertisers on these shows.
I suspect we're not their target audience, anyway–that would be the uninformed, barely literate (thanks to the leftists' work in the schools these past 40+ years), celebrity-obsessed lumpenproles who really *believe* Obama *cares* about them and has a stack of magic money to make all their (largely self-induced) problems go away.

Serving others is a "price and promise of citizenship?" WTF?!? The law lays out what is and what is not citizenship and I'm pretty sure that this little gem doesn't show up in there anywhere. Wait a minute…yep. Just checked. Not there.
So will "volunteerism" become mandatory like paying federal taxes or registering for the selective service (at least for men, which seems to violate equal protection in and of itself)?
I suppose we'll have the Internal Volunteerism Service popping up sometime in the near future and each year we'll have to file a volunteerism return. Then you can deduct any time you volunteered for tax-exempt charities from your liability, but you'll need a document that states how many hours you volunteered and you'll only get to deduct a portion of it.
Then, you'll have a whole slew of credits and deductions you can take if you are eligible to receive help from tax-exempt charities. The more civic groups you belong to the more you can deduct from your liability, or even better if you belong to enough you can itemize. By providing volunteering opportunities for other people you can also take partial deductions on their volunteerism.
And, if you don't volunteer at all you'll be eligible to become the head of the Internal Volunteerism Service or the Secretary of Volunteerism.

How many of these volunteer jobs would squeeze out jobs that someone might actually get paid for? It sounds like a way to decrease entry level positions and minimum wage jobs. The result? Higher unemployment. But what do I know.

I think someone should plan a counter campaign to turn off the tv during this period. Instead everyone should spend time with their families. I pledge to not watch tv during this period. Centralized administrating of people on that database. By a centralized government. Dudes…is this a MOVIE? Are we at the start of a slowspeed shuttle that could suddenly switch to a blinding-speed fastforwarding toward Socialism?

Wow, every week something more terrifying comes to light. I have to admit that even though I've read a lot of history, I never thought America could get this creepy this fast. Who needs a list? If it is on a network then it will be suspect. Even if a rerun, you may be bombarded with PSA's as their attempt to "fulfill the mandate."
Local news may be safe. But otherwise, and shockingly, PBS may be your best bet. Unless they are running "national service" specials, you likely got used to their slant ages ago so will not notice the difference.

The liberals want no one controlling the horizontal, as what happens with the horizontal is strictly the decision of consenting adults, which could involve consenting not-legally-adults who nevertheless are mature enough to handle it, sometimes with those who can not give "active" consent due to the influence of various substances (of which all should be legalized if not already) but have given "situational" consent. In the future we may even be advanced enough to accept sharing the horizontal with non-humans, who have given consent by being friendly.

Why don't we concerned citizens call this EIF and demand programming free of murders and fisticuffs, overt sex and vulgarity? Let's have programming that exemplifies personal excellence and the values that are American. You work for something, you get it. Let's show teens why suicide is a futile gesture. Let us see programming that exemplifies the best in humanity. IF this group is so interested in improving America by controlling the content of the programming, why don't they follow it to a logical conclusion and improve society instead of tearing it down? So, programming does drive societal behavior after all.

Been a long-time volunteer at our crisis assistance agency. Back in Feb., we had a group of Obama supporters bring in a food drive.
Once.
Never saw them again.
The curious thing to me is that while about half of the paid staff are for Obama, which is not surprising for young social service grads, the volunteers are almost unanimously conservatives of the bitter clinger variety.
None of whom needed a presidential push to get them to volunteer.
Looks like Disney (ABC) is right in lock-step with it all.
Gone are the years of a million dreams. Gone will be this year's promotion: getting in free on your birthday.

i saw the first ads last night and felt ill that anyone out there would join the barry bandwagon based on the pitch. sorry, but when celebrities tell me what is good and what they think it is i should be doing, i am reaching for the clicker.
I think I may be the only one so far to say this on this post, but "I like to watch TV." As Chance the Gardener would say.
Anyhow, what I really want to say is that Comrade Obama's definition of volunteerism is different from the normal definition of volunteerism. To me, the normal definition is that you volunteer because you want to help those who maybe less fortunate or need help. The Comrade's definition is that you are required to give of yourself because you are "your brother's keeper."
A perfect example is requiring high school students to "volunteer" if they want to graduate from high school. Pretty soon, and I'm sure you've heard about it, the Comrade's cronies want to mandate "volunteerism" for everybody!
It starts as a simple message of volunteering until they make it mandatory.
Time to join the Obama brownshirts, and spread the Hope and Change gospel on the streets.
Don't refuse, unless you are a racist.

..and chill should run up your spine. I've lived through this in a formal communist country of Eastern Europe. We were required to do "volunteer service" . As high schoolers it was mandatory to go and pick fruits for cooperatives at harvest time. I guess at least that could resolve the illegal alien problem……..and i remember one summer my friend went to vacation to Moscow and they had to do community service as part of the trip.
This administration makes me sick to my stomach! This country, now my country which I love and respect so much is turning into my worst nightmare !

There's no way they can steal our freedom without our help. This is the dirty little secret behind all propaganda. They must convince enough people to sacrifice their freedom in order to enact their takeover. We must not allow them to succeed. We must begin a deconstruction of central authority in the Federal government. Shut down all unconstitutional activity in DC and redistribute the wealth of power from the Feds to the States, or to the People. Washington has become entirely corrupted by power. We must take it away from them.

Actually you need to pull yourself out of the right/left paradigm… infowars.com. You need to look for people who understand the Constitution and truly apply it in government. I would suggest starting with yourselves and then go from there.
