Which begs a question: If his unspeakable deed doesn’t meet the standard, what exactly would Roman Polanski have to do in order to become a pariah in this town … I mean, besides vote for Sarah Palin?
My favorite part of the below story is Patrick Goldstein of the LA Times questioning the ethics of the LA district attorney for extraditing Polanski “at a time of severe statewide budget cuts.”
Now the Left worries about government spending! This reckless, out of control, bringing-child-rapists-to-justice spending must stop!
Maybe I’m just a simplistic right-winger but everything stops for me upon learning a child was raped. That doesn’t mean we don’t eventually examine judicial misconduct or government spending, but only after we throw away the key.

Sounds more like it's just Harvey Weinstein backing a campaign by the French film industry, not Hollywood.
So, he plead guilty. But maybe the trial was improperly handled. So, he used his considerable defense team to clear it up over these last 30 years. Oh, no, he didn't. Better choice, he ran. And horrors, now the County law enforcement division will enforce the law. Well I see the problem. Costs too much. So empty the jails, yes let's let Charlie out too, fire the LAPD, and good citizens defend yourselves and your daughters. Or how about this? The only part of the article I really object to is lumping in all the Polanski supporters as HOLLYWOOD. Some notable Hollywood types support him, sure, but his most active supporters are Europeans. I live in LA and work in the film industry, and its just that, an industry, not a conspiracy. Personally I think Polanski made a couple of amazing films, a few clunkers, is a fascinating artist AND a rapist who should've done time back when he was convicted. Right. In every criticism of Catholicism, Liberals cite priests molesting children as one of the main reasons Christianity in their view is a fraud, hypocritical and wrong.
Yet, thousands of teachers are arrested in the U.S. each year for having sex with and molesting underage children – their students. Tens of thousands have been arrested in the last decade.
So, by their own logic, shouldn't we condemn schools and education based on the actions of these thousands of molesting teachers?

Polanski made a plea agreement to a lesser crime, then fled before sentencing (another crime). This is a no brainer. Bring him to justice. Has everyone missed the fact that he's consistently avoided travelling to countries once he discovered that he might be extradited back to the US to face his justice. This time he got caught. The wishes of the survivor are not significant in that her reasoning is to continue to move past the crime and not subject her family again to the exposure. What about the other child victims who came before her and have certainly come after. This is a crime against society. Do we let the evangelicals go who intermarry with their daughters and even granddaughters next? Or priests? Polanski's became a criminal when he decided to rape a child. Bring him to Justice. Is it any surprise the moral nitwits of Hollywood are beginning to back him? Where were they for OJ, Madoff, Spector, etc.? Look you guys, I am a liberal democrat and I voted for Palin last year because of the race baiting from Obama and the sexism thrown at both Clinton and Palin. I agree with you about Polanski. This guy had tons of money and could have stayed and appealed his sentence due to misconduct but instead he chose to run and hide for 30 years. All because he didn't want to go to jail for 48 days. 48 days is very minimal for what he did. He should have stayed and faced it like a man. If there was misconduct then there are laws to use to deal with it and he had the financial means continue litigation. There was no good reason for him to run. He should be extrdited and made to face the music.
