Wanda Sykes: Limbaugh Had It Coming; Still Loves Prez Who Opposes Same-Sex Marriage
by John NolteAt this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Wanda Sykes labeled Rush Limbaugh a terrorist and “joked” about her desire to see his kidneys fail. Not only does she not regret wishing the talk show host dead, in an interview with Metro Weekly (via: NewsBusters) she says in so many words that Limbaugh started it:
METRO WEEKLY: Do you ever worry about stepping out of bounds, about doing a joke that’s gone too far?
SYKES:I don’t worry about it. My barometer is that I don’t want to be mean spirited – just to attack someone for the sake of doing it. If you started it, I have a right to go after you. If you did something, I can go after you. But I want it to be about what you did and not just a personal attack or something.
MW: Which is where Rush Limbaugh comes in. You leveled several vicious – and I would agree in his case completely earned – jokes in his direction at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. You got some flak in the press for it. Looking back, do you regret saying those things about Limbaugh?
SYKES: Not at all.
What offends me isn’t Sykes’ tasteless can’t-lose-in-a-roomful-of-liberals attacks on Limbaugh, it’s what a gutless coward she turned out to be. Here you have a gay woman just a few feet from the Most Powerful Anti-Gay Marriage Man On The Planet and she lacked the sand to bring the issue up even once.
And so is her predictable lack of regret.
Her cowardice, however, extends to this interview:
MW: It’s no secret you love the current president.
SYKES: [Warmly.] Yes.
MW: There’s been a lot of criticism leveled at the Obama administration for not moving quickly enough on gay issues. What’s your take?
SYKES: I think the criticism is justified. However, he has a lot on his plate right now and can’t solve everything [at once]. He hasn’t been in office a year yet. I say just give him some time. Of course, we should be vocal and point out and say, “When is it our turn?” But let’s not be too critical and do anything that moves us backwards.
Earth to Wanda: It’s not that President Obama has a lot on his plate right now — it’s that he opposes same-sex marriage. His plate could be as empty as the U.S. Treasury and it wouldn’t be “your turn.”
The interviewer for this self-described “GLBT Newsmagazine” doesn’t bother to challenge Sykes on this point and then Sykes’s hilariously focuses on “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” in order to dance around the President’s position entirely. I guess that like a Vietnam War protester acknowledging the Cambodian Holocaust, a declarative statement regarding Obama’s opposition to same-sex marriage is too psychologically confusing and painful.
Also worthy of note is Sykes’ “barometer” which is so dishonest she refuses to concede that her comments regarding Limbaugh were “mean-spirited” or even a “personal attack.” This highlights an increasingly desperate tactic we’re seeing from the Left as public support craters for their transformative agenda. The concept is simple: Label something obviously wrong as right with such matter-of-fact, unblinking confidence people start to second guess themselves.
Hopefully this tactic has been permanently exposed and dealt a considerable setback with the blowback towards Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) after their launching of unprecedented and unforgivable attacks on community organizers everyday citizens speaking out in townhall meetings…. Citizens, I might add, with the stones to do what Sykes won’t: Speak a little truth to power.

I keep asking myself when the hypocrites will finally see their hypocrisy. And the answer is – never. The only thing left is for us to see it and deal with it. Which means – bring on 2010.
Wanda isn't asking me, but I'm telling her anyway that in 2010 she and her leftist friends are going to get such a kick in the butt they won't know what hit them. It will not be 'mean-spirited' nor will it be a 'personal attack'. It will be truth to power. Wanda doesn't practice the first – and she isn't going to get the second.
These people are utterly amoral and it's time we started treating them accordingly. If their ends always justify their means, then so should ours. The stakes couldn't be any higher.

The interviewer disgusts me more than Sykes. As Nolte says, Sykes isn't challenged at all. Moreover, note that question where Sykes is asked about the propriety of the Limbaugh "jokes." The interviewer excuses Sykes before even waiting for a response: " You leveled several vicious – and I would agree in his case completely earned – jokes in his direction…." That isn't an interview. That's a schmoozefest between two people who already believe Limbaugh got what he deserved.
If I had been there, I might have asked them both exactly what Limbaugh had done to "completely earn" this, but I suppose that would have been naughty.

Limbaugh started it? EXCUSE ME? I'll lay money on Rush not even know who the HELL Ms. Sykes was before the WHCD. And then by using Ms. Sykes (I have a 100 other things to call her but why bother) 'logic'. If saing something one disagrees with is "starting something", then just by disagreeing with someone on any subject regaurdless of bringing that person into the discussion, then that person can attack the person she or he disagrees with and use terms and other things to besmerch others?

It's time it was said: Obama is not and never has been against gay-marriage. Yes, he has said he is, and more than once. The real issue is that OBAMA IS A LIAR. He is a talented speaker when in front of a teleprompter, but he will prove to be a poor politician because you can only tell everyone what they want to hear for so long before people start to notice that you have been saying and doing and promising things that are either incompatible with or the exact opposite of what you said earlier. His words are already starting to come back to haunt him and will continue to do so the more he opens his mouth. Do we really want to continue crowing about how Obama is against gay marriage when they don't believe it, and for that matter, neither do we?

Its sad. I used to think she was kind of funny, back on the Drew Carey show. Then she comes out with this. Its very hard to forget about this stuff and then try to enjoy her comedy–even when not aimed at conservatives. Another comedian, I now cannot stand is George Lopez. Used to think he was funny and then I tuned into the latest HBO special. First thing he does is say F You to all republicans for voting against Sotamayor! I think we have enough intelligent people in this country who are either conservative, independent or even in some cases liberal, who can tell a lie when they hear it and endless repetition is not going to make them second guess themselves. I think the more likely response is going to be "enough is enough". The MSM is tanking because they have told too many lies.

Is Obama a closet Muslim? I think there is a good case to support it. Another litmus test is how he approaches the issue of gay rights. If he is a closet muslim he will be intolerant of homosexuality… far more intolerant then a typical christian. You could be very correct in this. Obama seem very likely to say whatever it took to get elected – it's why he voted present so often – so he could as few things as possible to trump his path to power. Now he's actually having to do something instead of vote present and it's exposing him. I would not be a bit surprised to see him reverse himself on gay marriage and suddenly realize he should be for it… if the poll numbers are right.
What does one expect from Sykes? Think about who her audience is? Maybe the five percent hard core leftwing who goes out there saying Rightwingers should be killed etc. This is her audience. We have heard them before. They are an example of leftwing fascism. There can be no compromise or debate. Anyone, even leftwingers who make critical comments are fair game if they criticize Obama. The other ten percent of the hardcore left are upset with Obama for various reasons and grumbling. But this 5 percent who cannot bring themselves to ask outloud the questions one would think they would ask would go over the cliff with him, flags flying.
