I got the expression from the sea adventures I loved to read as a kid (still do) where "dagos" is what the Limeys called the Spanish enemy.

Good point, by the way: Italians are the original Latinos, and had they immigrated only recently they would be called that. But calling them Latinos now would damage the liberal project to impose the politics of class and identity.

The Bible is anti Roman period. The people who wrote the story purposely included the Herod line for a reason. Christianity at the time was not just a religion but a rebeliion against the Roman. The 666 is a symbol for Nero. There are numerous references to the Romans. None of this detracts from my point though does it. The whole the J killed Chrt thing is manufactured and kept alive by Christian and Jewish bigots alike for their own reasons. An early Christian who lived there would not have any understanding of the arguments because they are not valid. The Christians were not against the J's. Heck it was not until three centuries later that they decided to be a Christian one did not have to convert to Judaism first. This argument is simply factually wrong. The misunderstanding of it promotes religious bigotry and antogonism so please explain to me what the benefit is in to trying to defend the indefensible. Sorry but I will not let this go. Every time I hear some Protestant or J'sh person make this statement it inevitalbly leads to an unsubstantiated attack on the Catholic Church somehow and I am tired of it because it has no substance to it.

Well then you have a problem with the History channel and not I since that is the source. Since there is no other documented listing of Jesus except the Bible trying to tie down the exact dates to a story that has been modified over the years and not written down until the 2nd centruy AD is quite frankly a little silly don't you think. However since the History Channel mentioned John the Baptist I assuming they meant Herod Antipater. Are hyou suggesting only one ancient dictator actually executed people.

Individualist, your history is very bad. Herod the Great, the one you are describing, died in 4 B.C. not too long after Jesus was born. The Herod described during the New Testament was his son known as Antipater. It also becomes obvious in the New Testament that the Jewish authorities were not afraid of kill because they tried unofficially at least twice; once over a cliff and another time in the Temple where they became afraid of the people. The Romans became a convenient outlet to kill Jesus without looking like they were responsible. By the way, the idea that the Jews were not allowed the death penalty is unsubstantiated.

As I said before the Producers made fun of the Nazis but not the victims. Correct me if I'm wrong but was there a chorus singing out of ovens? Yes it was designed to shock and be in bad taste to get the audience to walk out. But making fun of the Holocaust would have made them rush the stage and kill the cast and burn the theater down. Your argument implies that it's OK to make fun of the victims of the crime along with the perpetrators. But what is funny is your defense of this while your fellow liberals go into frothing rage over even a precieved slight to Obama. Again I really doubt you go over to the liberal sights and give them a dose do you?

A couple of years ago I saw this magazine at Borders. Having never seen it before I was shocked and couldn't believe something like this was in a regular bookstore. For some reason I picked up and saw that it was run by Jewish writers. I didn't get it then and I don't get it now.
